This article describes a method invented for applying a fine-corded piping to a purse project. Strips were cut from a fabric's selvage. Each of these strips were twisted until it formed a tight cord which is as flexible as it is strong. These are sewn into fabric bias strips in the same manner a purchased piping cord would be sewn to get a perfect piece of piping. If a one-half-inch wide piece of selvage is to be cut, a larger piping forms. Threads along the edge of the selvage were removed before starting the whole process.
