Customer numbers and comments have been extensively studied to increase hotel arrivals and loyalty, whereas the specific distribution and sentiment variations have received less attention. This study constructed a data set of hotel customers and the deep learning model was applied to quantify unstructured text, which can mine the distribution and sentiment variation patterns of different star hotel customers. The findings show that customers of different star-rated hotels have different variation patterns of sentiment and distribution. There is a negative correlation between the visit heat and sentiment of some high-star hotels in various administrative regions: regions with lower visit heat have higher sentiment scores. In addition, season and location are important factors that affect customers’ sentiments. This study is the first to use a quantitative approach to examine the distribution and sentiment variation patterns of hotel customers. It provides insights into appropriate marketing strategies for the hotel industry and offers practical suggestions to hotel customers.

Abstract Background This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of hippocampal avoidance whole-brain radiotherapy with a simultaneous integrated boost (HA-WBRT-SIB) treating brain metastases (BM) and utility of the Hopkins Verbal Learning Test-Revised (HVLT-R) (Chinese version) in Chinese lung cancer patients. Methods Lung cancer patients with BM undergone HA-WBRT-SIB at our center were enrolled. Brain magnetic resonance imaging, The HVLT total learning score, and side effects were evaluated before radiotherapy and 1, 3, 6, and 12 months after radiotherapy. This study analyzed the overall survival rate, progression-free survival rate, and changes in HVLT-R immediate recall scores. Results Forty patients were enrolled between Jan 2016 and Jan 2020. The median follow-up time was 14.2 months. The median survival, progression-free survival, and intracranial progression-free survival of all patients were 14.8 months, 6.7 months and 14.8 months, respectively. Multivariate analysis indicated that male sex and newly diagnosed stage IV disease were associated with poor overall survival and progression-free survival, respectively. HVLT-R scores at baseline and 1, 3, and 6 months after radiotherapy were 21.94 ± 2.99, 20.88 ± 3.12, 20.03 ± 3.14, and 19.78 ± 2.98, respectively. The HVLT-R scores at 6 months after radiotherapy decreased by approximately 9.8% compared with those at baseline. No grade 3 toxicities occurred in the entire cohort. Conclusions HA-WBRT-SIB is of efficiency and cognitive-conserving in treating Chinese lung cancer BM. Trial registration This study was retrospectively registered on ClinicalTrials.gov in 24th Feb, 2024. The ClinicalTrials.gov ID is NCT06289023.

Blown films from ethylene-propylene random copolymers (C2C3-RACOs) are used in many packaging applications today, constituting a major fraction of both mono- and multilayer packaging film constructions. Combining high processing speed and output with good mechanical and optical performance, mostly high toughness and low haze, requires understanding the structure-property-processing relations. To improve said understanding for C2C3-RACO blown films, two commercial grades with a nearly identical C2 content of ~4.4 wt% and identical melt flow rate (MFR) but different nucleation were selected. These were tested in a processing study, varying melt temperature, blow-up ratio (BUR) and neck length. The film structure was analysed by wide angle X-ray scattering (WAXS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), and the performance by standard mechanical and optical tests. Variation of film crystallinity was found to be in the range of 62 to 65%, much smaller than in earlier cast film studies on comparable polymers. The tensile modulus is the only performance parameter for which a general positive correlation to crystallinity can be found, blown films being about 50% stiffer than the softest cast films of a comparable polymer. Ductility and toughness are enhanced by higher orientation, resulting from higher BUR and/or higher neck length. For transparency and haze, low surface roughness is decisive at comparable crystallinity, which can be achieved by increasing melt temperature.

Abstract In acidic soils, aluminum (Al) toxicity inhibits the growth and development of plant roots and affects nutrient and water absorption, leading to reduced yield and quality. Therefore, it is crucial to investigate and identify candidate genes for Al tolerance and elucidate their physiological and molecular mechanisms under Al stress. In this study, we identified a new gene OsAlR3 regulating Al tolerance, and analyzed its mechanism from physiological, transcriptional and metabolic levels. Compared with the WT, malondialdehyde (MDA) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) content were significantly increased, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and citric acid (CA) content were significantly decreased in the osalr3 mutant lines when exposed to Al stress. Under Al stress, the osalr3 exhibited decreased expression of antioxidant-related genes and lower organic acid content compared with WT. Integrated transcriptome and metabolome analysis showed the phenylpropanoid biosynthetic pathway plays an important role in OsAlR3-mediated Al tolerance. Exogenous CA and oxalic acid (OA) could increase total root length and enhance the antioxidant capacity in the mutant lines under Al stress. Conclusively, we found a new gene OsAlR3 that positively regulates Al tolerance by promoting the chelation of Al ions through the secretion of organic acids, and increasing the expression of antioxidant genes.

Abstract As an autoimmune disease, up to 73% of patients with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) have a combination of extrahepatic autoimmune diseases (EHAIDs); however, the causal relationship between PBC and EHAIDs is unclear. The genome-wide association analyses provided 14 GWAS data for PBC and EHAIDs, and bidirectional, two-sample MR analyses were performed to examine the relationship between PBC and EHAIDs. The analysis using MR provides a strong and meaningful estimation of the bidirectional correlation between PBC and 7 EHAIDs: rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjögren's syndrome, systemic sclerosis, autoimmune hypothyroidism, inflammatory bowel disease and ulcerative colitis of its types. In addition, PBC increases the risk of autoimmune thyroid diseases such as autoimmune hyperthyroidism and Graves' disease, as well as multiple sclerosis and psoriasis. Additionally, PBC is identified as a risk factor for Crohn's disease and Celiac disease. Based on genetic evidence, there may be connections between PBC and specific EHAIDs: not all coexisting EHAIDs induce PBC, and vice versa. This underscores the significance of prioritizing PBC in clinical practice. Additionally, if any liver function abnormalities are observed during treatment or with EHAIDs, it is crucial to consider the possibility of comorbid PBC.

Abstract Background Jilin white goose is an excellent local breed in China, with a high annual egg production and laying eggs mainly from February to July each year. The testis, as the only organ that can produce sperm, can affect the sexual maturity and fecundity of male animals. Its growth and development are affected and regulated by a variety of factors. Proteomics is generally applied to identify and quantify proteins in cells and tissues in order to understand the physiological or pathological changes that occur in tissues or cells under specific conditions. Currently, the female poultry reproductive system has been extensively studied, while few related studies focusing on the regulatory mechanism of the reproductive system of male poultry have been conducted. Results A total of 1753 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) were generated in which there were 594, 391 and 768 different proteins showing differential expression in three stages, Initial of Laying Cycle (ILC), Peak of Laying Cycle (PLC) and End of Laying Cycle (ELC). Furthermore, bioinformatics was used to analyze the DEPs. Gene ontology (GO) enrichment, Clusters of Orthologous Groups (COG), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis were adopted. All DEPs were found to be implicated in multiple biological processes and pathways associated with testicular development, such as renin secretion, Lysosomes, SNARE interactions in vesicle trafficking, the p53 signaling pathway and pathways related to metabolism. Additionally, the reliability of transcriptome results was verified by real-time quantitative PCR by selecting the transcript abundance of 6 selected DEPs at the three stages of the laying cycle. Conclusions The funding in this study will provide critical insight into the complex molecular mechanisms and breeding practices underlying the developmental characteristics of testicles in Jilin white goose.

Because of the conventional bioimaging methods, including ultrasound and X-ray examinations often lack accuracy and sensitivity in the early diagnosis, as a heterogeneous subtype of breast cancer, it remains an urgent need to develop efficaciously and sensitively diagnostic drivers of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). The overexpression of c-mesenchymal epithelial transition-factor (c-Met) is associated with the basal subtype of breast carcinoma and linked with decreased survival rate of TNBC patients. Here, we have synthesized a dual-modal nanoprobe with luminescence imaging in the bio-window of near infrared II region (NIR II, 1000–1700) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) performances. After c-Met targeting binding protein decoration, this Fe3O4@mSiO2-ICG/cMBP had outstanding size stability and preeminent biocompatibility. Meaningfully, it presented effective TNBC cells recognition in vitro. Besides, after caudal-vein injection of this nanoprobe, both NIR II luminescence imaging and MRI demonstrated that it can more efficiently concentrated in metastatic TNBC tumors in comparison with Fe3O4@mSiO2-ICG and clinical used Gd-DTPA. Meanwhile, the core–shell nanoprobes also showed negligible toxicity in vivo. All results suggested that our cMBP modified nanocomposite could provide a fascinating and efficient non-invasive diagnostic tool for TNBC detection in clinic.

Abstract Aloperine (ALO), a quinolizidine‐type alkaloid isolated from a natural Chinese herb, has shown promising antitumor effects. Nevertheless, its common mechanism of action and specific target remain elusive. Here, it is demonstrated that ALO inhibits the proliferation and migration of non‐small cell lung cancer cell lines in vitro and the tumor development in several mouse tumor models in vivo. Mechanistically, ALO inhibits the fusion of autophagosomes with lysosomes and the autophagic flux, leading to the accumulation of sequestosome‐1 (SQSTM1) and production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), thereby inducing tumor cell apoptosis and preventing tumor growth. Knockdown of SQSTM1 in cells inhibits ROS production and reverses ALO‐induced cell apoptosis. Furthermore, VPS4A is identified as a direct target of ALO, and the amino acids F153 and D263 of VPS4A are confirmed as the binding sites for ALO. Knockout of VPS4A in H1299 cells demonstrates a similar biological effect as ALO treatment. Additionally, ALO enhances the efficacy of the anti‐PD‐L1/TGF‐β bispecific antibody in inhibiting LLC‐derived subcutaneous tumor models. Thus, ALO is first identified as a novel late‐stage autophagy inhibitor that triggers tumor cell death by targeting VPS4A.

IntroductionMesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have long been postulated as an important source cell in regenerative medicine. During subculture expansion, mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) senescence diminishes their multi-differentiation capabilities, leading to a loss of therapeutic potential. Up to date, the extrachromosomal circular DNAs (eccDNAs) have been demonstrated to be involved in senescence but the roles of eccDNAs during MSC.MethodsHere we explored eccDNA profiles in human bone marrow MSCs (BM-MSCs). EccDNA and mRNA was purified and sequenced, followed by quantification and functional annotation. Moreover, we mapped our datasets with the downloading enhancer and transcription factor-regulated genes to explore the potential role of eccDNAs.ResultsSequentially, gene annotation analysis revealed that the majority of eccDNA were mapped in the intron regions with limited BM-MSC enhancer overlaps. We discovered that these eccDNA motifs in senescent BMSCs acted as motifs for binding transcription factors (TFs) of senescence-related genes.DiscussionThese findings are highly significant for identifying biomarkers of senescence and therapeutic targets in mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) for future clinical applications. The potential of eccDNA as a stable therapeutic target for senescence-related disorders warrants further investigation, particularly exploring chemically synthesized eccDNAs as transcription factor regulatory elements to reverse cellular senescence.

Summary: Background: The survival rates of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) have improved significantly, but there is no consensus on whether they can be considered cured. We aimed to determine whether a statistical cure could be achieved for patients with NPC in the contemporary therapeutic landscape. Methods: This retrospective multicenter study enrolled 6315 patients with nonmetastatic NPC from nonendemic and endemic regions of China from 2007 to 2020. We applied mixture and nonmixture cure models to estimate the cure probabilities and cure times by incorporating background mortality for the general population, matching by gender, age, and diagnosed year. Findings: With death as the uncured event, the probability of patients with NPC achieving a life expectancy at par with the general population was 78.1%. Considering progression as the uncured event, the likelihood of patients attaining a life expectancy without progression equivalent to that of the general population was 72.4%. For individuals, the probabilities of achieving cure were conditional and time-dependent, requiring approximately 7.1 and 4.7 years with 95% certainty, respectively. The corresponding cure times for uncured patients were 8.9 and 6.8 years, respectively. The cure probability was correlated with age, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group score, TNM staging, Epstein–Barr virus DNA copies, and lactate dehydrogenase. The correlation was excellent between 5-year overall survival/progression-free survival and cure fractions. Interpretation: Statistical cure is potentially achievable among patients with NPC undergoing contemporary treatment modalities. The results hold significant potential implications for both clinical practice and patient perspectives. ABSTRACT: Spermatogenesis is a crucial indicator of geese reproduction performance and production. The testis is the main organ responsible for sperm production, and the egg-laying cycle in geese is a complex physiological process that demands precise orchestration of hormonal cues and cellular events within the testes, however, the seasonal changes in the transcriptomic and proteomic profiles of goose testicles remain unclear. To explore various aspects of the mechanisms of the seasonal cyclicity of testicles in different goose breeds, in this study, we used an integrative transcriptomic and proteomic approach to screen the key genes and proteins in the testes of 2 goose males, the Hungarian white goose and the Wanxi white goose, at 3 different periods of the laying cycle: beginning of laying cycle (BLC), peak of laying cycle (PLC), and end of laying cycle (ELC). The results showed that a total of 9,273 differentially expressed genes and 4,543 differentially expressed proteins were identified in the geese testicles among the comparison groups. The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis suggested that the DEGs, in the comparison groups, were mainly enrichment in metabolic pathways, neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction, cyctokine-cyctokine receptor interaction, calcium signaling pathway, apelin signaling pathway, ether lipid metabolism, cysteine, and methionine metabolism. While the DEPs, in the 3 comparison groups, were mainly involved in the ribosome, metabolic pathways, carbon metabolism, proteasome, endocytosis, lysosome, regulation of actin cytoskeleton, oxidative phosphorylation, nucleocytoplasmic transport, and tight junction. The protein-protein interaction network analysis (PPI) indicated that selected DEPs, such as CHD1L, RAB18, FANCM, TAF5, TSC1/2, PHLDB2, DNAJA2, NCOA5, DEPTOR, TJP1, and RAPGEF2, were highly associated with male reproductive regulation. Further, the expression trends of 4 identified DEGs were validated by qRT-PCR. In conclusion, this work offers a new perspective on comprehending the molecular mechanisms and pathways involved in the seasonal cyclicity of testicles in the Hungarian white goose and the Wanxi white goose, as well as contributing to improving goose reproductive performance.

BackgroundIn recent years, immunotherapy has been emerging as a promising alternative therapeutic method for cancer patients, offering potential benefits. The expression of PD-L1 by tumors can inhibit the T-cell response to the tumor and allow the tumor to evade immune surveillance. To address this issue, cancer immunotherapy has shown promise in disrupting the interaction between PD-L1 and its ligand PD-1.MethodsWe used mirror-image phage display technology in our experiment to screen and determine PD-L1 specific affinity peptides (PPL-C). Using CT26 cells, we established a transplanted mouse tumor model to evaluate the inhibitory effects of PPL-C on tumor growth in vivo. We also demonstrated that PPL-C inhibited the differentiation of T regulatory cells (Tregs) and regulated the production of cytokines.ResultsIn vitro, PPL-C has a strong affinity for PD-L1, with a binding rate of 0.75 μM. An activation assay using T cells and mixed lymphocytes demonstrated that PPL-C inhibits the interaction between PD-1 and PD-L1. PPL-C or an anti-PD-L1 antibody significantly reduced the rate of tumor mass development in mice compared to those given a control peptide (78% versus 77%, respectively). The results of this study demonstrate that PPL-C prevents or retards tumor growth. Further, immunotherapy with PPL-C enhances lymphocyte cytotoxicity and promotes proliferation in CT26-bearing mice.ConclusionPPL-C exhibited antitumor and immunoregulatory properties in the colon cancer. Therefore, PPL-C peptides of low molecular weight could serve as effective cancer immunotherapy.

ABSTRACT: Goose down feather has become one of the most important economical products in the goose breeding industry and it provides several essential physiological roles in birds. Therefore, understanding and regulating the development of skin and feather follicles during embryogenesis is critical for avian biology and the poultry industry. MicroRNAs are known to play an important role in controlling gene expression during skin and feather follicle development. In this study, bioinformatics analysis was conducted to select miR-140-y as a potential miRNA involved in skin and feather follicle development and to predict TCF4 as its target gene. This gene was expressed at significant levels during embryonic feather follicle development, as identified by qPCR and Western blot. The targeting relationship was confirmed by a dual-luciferase assay in 293T cells. Then, the miR-140-y/TCF4 function in dermal fibroblast cells was explored. The results showed that miR-140-y could suppress the proliferation of goose embryonic dermal fibroblast cells (GEDFs) by suppressing the activity of some Wingless-types (Wnt) pathway related genes and proliferation marker genes, while miR-140-y inhibition led to the opposite effect. Similarly, the inhibition of the TCF4 gene results in blocking the proliferation of GEDFs by reducing the activity of some Wnt pathway-related genes. Finally, the co-transfection of miR-140-y inhibitor and siRNA-TCF4 results in a rescue of the TCF4 function and an increase of the Wnt signaling pathway and GEDFs proliferation. In conclusion, these results demonstrated that the miR-140-y-TCF4 axis influences the activity of the Wnt signaling pathway and works as a dynamic regulator during skin and feather follicle development.

Objective: Accurate prognostic predictions and personalized decision-making on induction chemotherapy (IC) for individuals with locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LA-NPC) remain challenging. This research examined the predictive function of tumor burden-incorporated machine-learning algorithms for overall survival (OS) and their value in guiding treatment in patients with LA-NPC. Methods: Individuals with LA-NPC were reviewed retrospectively. Tumor burden signature-based OS prediction models were established using a nomogram and two machine-learning methods, the interpretable eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) risk prediction model, and DeepHit time-to-event neural network. The models' prediction performances were compared using the concordance index (C-index) and the area under the curve (AUC). The patients were divided into two cohorts based on the risk predictions of the most successful model. The efficacy of IC combined with concurrent chemoradiotherapy was compared to that of chemoradiotherapy alone. Results: The 1 221 eligible individuals, assigned to the training (n = 813) or validation (n = 408) set, showed significant respective differences in the C-indices of the XGBoost, DeepHit, and nomogram models (0.849 and 0.768, 0.811 and 0.767, 0.730 and 0.705). The training and validation sets had larger AUCs in the XGBoost and DeepHit models than the nomogram model in predicting OS (0.881 and 0.760, 0.845 and 0.776, and 0.764 and 0.729, P < 0.001). IC presented survival benefits in the XGBoost-derived high-risk but not low-risk group. Conclusion: This research used machine-learning algorithms to create and verify a comprehensive model integrating tumor burden with clinical variables to predict OS and determine which patients will most likely gain from IC. This model could be valuable for delivering patient counseling and conducting clinical evaluations.

The development of alternative renewable energy technologies is crucial for alleviating climate change and promoting energy transformation. Of the currently available technologies, solar energy has promising application prospects owing to its merits of being clean, safe, and sustainable. Solar energy is converted into electricity through photovoltaic (PV) cells; however, the overall conversion efficiency of PV modules is relatively low, and most of the captured solar energy is dissipated in the form of heat. This not only reduces the power generation efficiency of solar cells but may also have a negative impact on the electrical parameters of PV modules and the service life of PV cells. To overcome the shortcomings, an efficient approach involves combining a PV cell with a thermoelectric generator (TEG) to form hybrid PV-TEG systems, which simultaneously improve the energy conversion efficiency of the PV system by reducing the operating temperature of the PV modules and increasing the power output by utilizing the waste heat generated from the PV system to generate electricity via the TEGs. Based on a thorough examination of the literature, this study comprehensively reviews 14 maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms currently applied to hybrid PV-TEG systems and classifies them into five major categories for further discussion, namely conventional, mathematics-based, metaheuristic, artificial intelligence, and other algorithms. This review aims to inspire advanced ideas and research on MPPT algorithms for hybrid PV-TEG systems.

Safeguarding ecological security is one of China's important development strategies. Identifying ecological security patterns (ESPs) is an effective way to collaboratively develop ecological and environmental security in different regions. Currently, studies on the construction of regional ESPs mainly focus on the innovation of ecosystem service functions, ignoring the differences in ecological sensitivities of different ecological environments on a large scale. In this paper, taking the Yellow River Basin (YRB) as an example, six important ecosystem service functions were selected to identify ecological sources (ESs), ecological sensitivity weights were set according to the ecological environment characteristics of different regions, and the ecological resistance surfaces (ERSs) were determined. And the ESPs of the YRB were further investigated based on the Minimum Cumulative Resistance (MCR) model and circuit theory. The research findings indicate:(1) We had identified 218 ESs on the YRB, covering an area of 387,165 km2, which was 19.36 % of the entire study area and highly concentrated in the upstream areas. There were 532 ecological corridors (ECs) identified with a total length of 39,015.95 km, with less distribution in the lower reaches of the YRB. There were 201 ecological pinch points (EPPs) mainly in forests and grasslands. (2) ERSs constructed with different sensitivities weights had a significant impact on the distribution of ECs and EPPs. There were significant variations in the ESPs of the YRB. The upstream areas were notably more secure than the middle and lower reaches, indicating an overall lower level of ecological security. (3) Different ecological sensitivity weights were adopted in different regions, which was more suitable for the construction of ESPs with regional environmental differences. This study provides a wise direction for coordinating the ecological protection and achieving high-quality development in the YRB.

Vaccination is the most feasible way of preventing rabies, an ancient zoonosis that remains a major public health concern globally. However, administration of inactivated rabies vaccination without adjuvants is always inefficient and necessitates four to five injections. In the current study, we explored the adjuvant characteristics of cordycepin, a major bioactive component of Cordyceps militaris, to boost immune responses against a commercially available rabies vaccine. We found that cordycepin could stimulate stronger phenotypic and functional maturation of dendritic cells (DCs). For animal experiments, mice were immunized 3 times with rabies vaccine in the presence or absence of cordycepin at 1-week interval. Analysis of T cell differentiation and serum antibody isotypes showed that humoral immunity was dominant with a Th2 biased immune response. These results were also supported by the raised ratio of follicular helper T cells (TFH) and germinal center B cells (GCB). Thus, titer of rabies virus neutralizing antibody (RVNAb) and rabies virus-specific memory B cells were both raised as a result. Furthermore, administration of cordycepin did not cause pathological phenomena or body weight loss. The findings indicate that cordycepin could be used as a promising adjuvant for rabies vaccines to get a higher range of protection without any side effects.

Abstract Germ cell tumors complicated by hematological malignancy (HM) are a rare clinical phenomenon. Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo‐HSCT) is a potentially effective therapy, but graft‐versus‐host disease (GVHD) is a life‐threatening complication. We report a case of a 13‐year‐old female patient diagnosed with germ cell tumors followed by acute lymphoblastic leukemia. After chemotherapy, she received allo‐HSCT and her chimerism rate decreased rapidly to near zero by 6 months without evidence of HM recurrence. However, she developed severe, multiorgan GVHD‐like manifestations. DNA analysis revealed the pathogenesis of GVHD to be loss of HLA heterozygosity in recipient hematopoietic cells.

Abstract Background Current radiotherapy guidelines and consensus statements uniformly recommend elective region irradiation (ERI) as the standard strategy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). However, given the scarcity of skip-metastasis, the improved assessment accuracy of nodal involvement, and the striking advancements in chemotherapy for NPC, a one-fits-all delineation scheme for clinical target volumes of the nodal region (CTVn) may not be appropriate anymore, and modifications of the CTVn delineation strategy may be warranted. Involved site irradiation (ISI) covering merely the initially involved nodal site and potential extranodal extension has been confirmed to be as effective as ERI with decreased radiation-related toxicities in some malignancies, but has not yet been investigated in NPC. This study aims to compare the regional control, survival outcomes, radiation-related toxicities, and quality of life (QoL) of ISI with conventional ERI in NPC patients with a limited nodal burden. Methods ISRT-NPC is a prospective, multicenter, open-label, noninferiority, phase III randomized controlled trial. A total of 414 patients will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive ISI or ERI. Randomization will be stratified by institution scale and N stage. Generally, in the ISI group, the high-risk CTV1 (dose: 60 Gy) includes a 1-cm expansion of the positive LN as well as the VIIa and the retrostyloid space above the bilateral transverse process of the atlantoaxial spine (C1), regardless of N status. The low-risk CTV2 (dose: 50 Gy) covers the cervical nodal region with a 3-cm caudal expansion below the transverse process of C1 for N0 disease and a 3-cm expansion below the positive LN for positive LNs. Discussion The results of this trial are expected to confirm that ISI is a non-inferior strategy to ERI in stage I-III patients with low LN burden, enabling the minimization of treatment-related toxicity and improvement of long-term QoL without compromising regional control. Background: Because of the rarity, heterogeneous histology, and diverse anatomical sites of salivary gland cancer (SGC), there are a limited number of clinical studies on its management. This study reports the cumulative evidence of postoperative radiotherapy (PORT) for SGC of the head and neck. Methods: A systematic review was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. We searched the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases between 7th and 10th November 2023. Results: A total of 2962 patients from 26 studies between 2007 and 2023 were included in this meta-analysis. The median RT dose was 64 Gy (range: 56–66 Gy). The median proportions of high-grade, pathological tumor stage 3 or 4 and pathological lymph node involvement were 42% (0–100%), 40% (0–77%), and 31% (0–75%). The pooled locoregional control rates at 3, 5, and 10 years were 92% (95% confidence interval [CI], 89–94%), 89% (95% CI, 86–93%), and 84% (95% CI, 73–92%), respectively. The pooled disease-free survival (DFS) rates at 3, 5, and 10 years were 77% (95% CI, 70–83%), 67% (95% CI, 60–74%), and 61% (95% CI, 55–67%), respectively. The pooled overall survival rates at 3, 5, and 10 years were 84% (95% CI, 79–88%), 75% (95% CI, 72–79%), and 68% (95% CI, 62–74%), respectively. Severe late toxicity ≥ grade 3 occurred in 7% (95% CI, 3–14%). Conclusion: PORT showed favorable long-term efficacy and safety in SGC, especially for patients with high-grade histology. Considering that DFS continued to decrease, further clinical trials exploring treatment intensification are warranted.

Abstract Background Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients with a Fms‐like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3) mutation have a high incidence of relapse despite allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo‐HSCT) and a subsequent poor prognosis. FLT3 inhibitors (FLT3i) have been suggested to reduce the post‐transplant relapse risk in recent studies. As more evidence is accumulated, we perform the present meta‐analysis to assess the efficacy and safety of FLT3i as post‐transplant maintenance therapy in AML patients. Methods Literature search was performed in public databases from inception to December 31, 2021. Overall survival (OS), relapse‐free survival (RFS), cumulative incidence of relapse (CIR), non‐relapse mortality (NRM), graft‐versus‐host disease (GVHD) and adverse events were compared between FLT3i and control groups. Abstract Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is the leading cause of disability and death, and the social burden of mortality and morbidity caused by TBI is significant. Under the influence of comprehensive factors, such as social environment, lifestyle, and employment type, the incidence of TBI continues to increase annually. Current pharmacotherapy of TBI mainly focuses on symptomatic supportive treatment, aiming to reduce intracranial pressure, ease pain, alleviate irritability, and fight infection. In this study, we summarized numerous studies covering the use of neuroprotective agents in different animal models and clinical trials after TBI. However, we found that no drug has been approved as specifically effective for the treatment of TBI. Effective therapeutic strategies for TBI remain an urgent need, and attention is turning toward traditional Chinese medicine. We analyzed the reasons why existing high-profile drugs had failed to show clinical benefits and offered our views on the research of traditional herbal medicine for treating TBI.

Abstract Purpose To evaluate prognosis for reducing postoperative radiotherapy (PORT) dose to lymph node levels of supraglottic cancer (SC) on real-world data. Method and materials Patients were derived from two cancer centers. In center 1, the involved nodal levels (high-risk levels, HRL) and the next level received a dose of 60.06 Gy/1.82 Gy per fraction, while the other uninvolved levels (low-risk levels, LRL) received 50.96 Gy/1.82 Gy per fraction. In center 2, all received 50 Gy/2 Gy per fraction. The rates of high-risk levels control (HRC), regional control (RC), overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS) and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS) were calculated by Kaplan–Meier method. Result Totally, 124 patients were included (62 in center 1, 62 in center 2). Most patients (106, 85.5%) had a stage T3/N + tumor. The median follow-up was 45 months (range 1–163 months). There were no significant differences in terms of OS (p = 0.126), RC (p = 0.514), PFS (p = 0.195) and DMFS (p = 0.834). Most regional recurrences (4, 80%) occurred within three years of treatment, and all occurred within the target volumes. No regional failure occurred in HRL in center 1, while three (3/4) failures occurred in center 2. Dose reduction prescription to HRL led to a lower HRC rate (100% vs. 90.6%, p = 0.009). While the rates of LRL control (98.4%) were equal between the two centers. Conclusion Compared with a standard dose, the reduced dose to involved nodal levels showed inferior regional control for PORT, while uninvolved nodal levels showed equal outcomes. A dose of 50 Gy for HRL may be an unfavorable treatment option for SC.

Abstract Purpose The mechanism of chemo‐resistance in small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is unclear. This study aims to explore the resistance‐related genomic profiles of residual tumors after neo‐adjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in SCLC through the whole‐exome sequencing (WES). Experimental design A total of 416 limited diseases (LD) SCLC patients underwent surgery were retrospectively analyzed, of which 40 patients received NAC. Then we selected 29 patients undergoing NAC (n = 19) and chemotherapy naïve (CTN, n = 10) to perform WES sequence with formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded samples including tumor and paired para‐tumor. Results In total, single nucleotide variation and mutation rate were similar between NAC and CTN groups. The mutation signatures were significantly discrepant between NAC and CTN groups, as well as among patients with partial response (PR), stable disease (SD), and progressive disease. There were more copy number variation deletions in NAC group compared with CTN group. The inactivation of TP53 and RB1 were the most significantly events in both NAC and CTN groups. RB1 nonsense mutations were recurrent in NAC group (9/19 vs. 0/9, 47.4% vs. 0%) with favorable survival, while the frame‐shift deletions were frequent in CTN group (3/9 vs. 3/19, 33.3% vs.15.8%). Integrated function enrichment revealed that the frequently mutant genes were involved in cell cycle, metabolic reprogramming, and oncogenic signaling pathways in NAC group, such as BTG2 pathway, glycolysis in senescence and P53 pathway. A total of 27 genes presented frequently mutant in NAC group and might played a positive role in drug resistance. Multiple genes including BRINP3, MYH6, ST18, and PCHD15, which were associated with prognosis, occurred mutant frequently in PR and SD groups. Conclusion Residual tumors after neo‐adjuvant therapy exhibited different mutation signature spectrum. Multiple genes including RB1 nonsense mutations, BRINP3, MYH6, ST18, and PCHD15 were with frequent mutation in residual tumors, which might participate chemo‐resistance and influenced the prognosis in patients with limited disease SCLC.

We present a decade of observations of pulse arrival times for 85 pulsars using the Nanshan radio telescope from July 2002 to March 2014. The Cholesky method can accurately estimate the covariance function of the timing residuals, significantly improving the parameter’s estimation accuracy when red noise is prominent. We utilize the Cholesky method to determine positions and basic timing parameters of these pulsars, as well as to obtain timing residuals. Most of these sources showed evidence of significant timing irregularities, which are described. The spectral analyses of timing residuals are presented for pulsars showing obvious red noise. Our results show that timing residuals in half of these pulsars are attributed to rotational irregularities. The red noise in normal pulsars may originate from a random walk in spin frequency or spin-down rate.

Underwater autonomous path planning is a critical component of intelligent underwater vehicle system design, especially for maritime conservation and monitoring missions. Effective path planning for these robots necessitates considering various constraints related to robot kinematics, optimization objectives, and other pertinent factors. Sample-based strategies have successfully tackled this problem, particularly the rapidly exploring random tree star (RRT*) algorithm. However, conventional path-searching algorithms may face challenges in the marine environment due to unique terrain undulations, sparse and unpredictable obstacles, and inconsistent results across multiple planning iterations. To address these issues, we propose a new approach specifically tailored to the distinct features of the marine environment for navigation path planning of underwater vehicles, named bidirectional cached rapidly exploring random tree star (BCRRT*). By incorporating bidirectional path planning and caching algorithms on top of the RRT*, the search process can be expedited, and an efficient path connection can be achieved. When encountering new obstacles, ineffective portions of the cached path can be efficiently modified and severed, thus minimizing the computational workload while enhancing the algorithm’s adaptability. A certain number of simulation experiments were conducted, demonstrating that our proposed method outperformed cutting-edge techniques like the RRT* in several critical metrics such as the density of path nodes, planning time, and dynamic adaptability.

The growth and development of feather follicles has an important impact on down production. Goose feather follicles can be divided into primary and secondary feather follicles, both of which originate in the embryonic stage. Msx2 (Msh Homeobox 2) plays a regulatory role in tissues and organs such as eyes, teeth, bones and skin. However, its regulatory mechanism on goose feather follicles development remains unclear. Results Msx2 gene first increased, then decreased and increased at the end (E13, E18, E23, E28) during embryonic feather follicle development, and the expression level was the highest at E18. Abstract Background Chronic active Epstein-Barr virus infection (CAEBV) is a rare but life-threatening progressive disease. Human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (haplo-HSCT) is the best choice as sometimes HLA-matched donor is not accessible. However, graft-versus-host-disease (GVHD) following transplantation remains a major cause of treatment failure and elevated mortality. Post-transplant cyclophosphamide (PTCy) has recently emerged for effective GVHD prophylaxis in a haploidentical setting in many hematologic malignancies. Here, we report the performance of PTCy for GVHD prophylaxis in a series of CEABV patients treated with haplo-HSCT. Methods Consecutive pediatric CAEBV patients who were treated with haplo-HSCT and give PTCy for GVHD prophylaxis were analyzed. 1-year GVHD and relapse-free survival (GRFS), overall survival (OS) and cumulative incidence of moderate-to-severe chronic GVHD (cGVHD) were estimated. Results A total of 8 patients ranging from 2 to 15 years old were included. Among them, 4 patients had early complications after haplo-HSCT. Counts of T-cell subsets increased within 6 months post transplantation, indicating an immune reconstitution. Only 1 patient developed grade II acute GVHD, and 2 patients had moderate cGVHD. One patient died from diffuse alveolar hemorrhage within the first year after transplantation. The 1-year GRFS rate, OS rate and cumulative incidence of moderate-to-severe cGVHD were 62.5%, 87.5% and 25.0%, respectively. Conclusion Our findings suggest that, among CAEBV patients treated with haplo-HSCT, PTCy may be an alternative choice for the prevention of GVHD.

Abstract Purpose Concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) is a standard treatment choice for locally advanced hypopharyngeal carcinoma. The aim of this study was to investigate whether induction chemotherapy (IC) followed by CCRT is superior to CCRT alone to treat locally advanced hypopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods and materials Patients (n = 142) were randomized to receive two cycles of paclitaxel/cisplatin/5-fluorouracil (TPF) IC followed by CCRT or CCRT alone. The primary end point was overall survival (OS). The secondary end points included the larynx-preservation rate, progression-free survival (PFS), distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS), and toxicities. Results Ultimately, 113 of the 142 patients were analyzed. With a median follow-up of 45.6 months (interquartile range 26.8–57.8 months), the 3-year OS was 53.1% in the IC + CCRT group compared with 54.8% in the CCRT group (hazard ratio, 1.004; 95% confidence interval, 0.573–1.761; P = 0.988). There were no statistically significant differences in PFS, DMFS, and the larynx-preservation rate between the two groups. With the gradual improvement in people’s quality of life, intelligent communities are received widespread attention and research. However, the massive use of various smart appliances causes a rapid increase in energy demand and carbon emissions. Therefore, in this paper, the novel carbon-free energy optimization method under the designed energy structure suitable for an intelligent community is proposed to deal with energy depletion and environmental pollution. First, the energy supply side makes full use of clean energy generation technologies to provide users with adequate energy, which is composed of photovoltaic (PV), wind turbine (WT) and hydrogen steam turbines. Second, considering the demand response (DR) of the load side, household appliances are modeled according to the working characteristics. Then, the energy treatment mode of renewable energy sources (RESs) grid-connected reverse transmission is changed. The power to hydrogen (P2H) technology is introduced into the energy structure of intelligent residential quarters to increase the proportion of hydrogen energy in the region. Moreover, the energy storage device and electrification technology are combined to realize the production and application of regional hydrogen and achieve the goal of non-carbonization of regional energy structure. Finally, in simulation part, the optimal solution in the scheduling cycle is obtained by YALMIP solver, and time-of-use (TOU) electricity prices are used to calculate the final electricity cost. It is displayed that carbon emissions and energy consumption cost can be reduced, and the pressure of peak power consumption relieved based on the designed non-carbonization energy structure and energy optimization method.

Abstract A thermoelectric generation (TEG) system has the weakness of relatively low thermoelectric conversion efficiency caused by heterogeneous temperature distribution (HgTD). Dynamic reconfiguration is an effective technique to improve its overall energy efficiency under HgTD. Nevertheless, numerous combinations of electrical switches make dynamic reconfiguration a complex combinatorial optimization problem. This paper aims to design a novel adaptive coordinated seeker (ACS) based on an optimal configuration strategy for large-scale TEG systems with series–parallel connected modules under HgTDs. To properly balance global exploration and local exploitation, ACS is based on ‘divide-and-conquer’ parallel computing, which synthetically coordinates the local searching capability of tabu search (TS) and the global searching capability of a pelican optimization algorithm (POA) during iterations. In addition, an equivalent re-optimization strategy for a reconfiguration solution obtained by meta-heuristic algorithms (MhAs) is proposed to reduce redundant switching actions caused by the randomness of MhAs. Two case studies are carried out to assess the feasibility and superiority of ACS in comparison with the artificial bee colony algorithm, ant colony optimization, genetic algorithm, particle swarm optimization, simulated annealing algorithm, TS, and POA. Simulation results indicate that ACS can realize fast and stable dynamic reconfiguration of a TEG system under HgTDs. In addition, RTLAB platform-based hardware-in-the-loop experiments are carried out to further validate the hardware implementation feasibility.

Abstract Background Mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy has been shown to be a promising option for liver fibrosis treatment. However, critical factors affecting the efficacy of MSC therapy for liver fibrosis remain unknown. Follistatin-like 1 (FSTL1), a TGF-β-induced matricellular protein, is documented as an intrinsic regulator of proliferation and differentiation in MSCs. In the present study, we characterized the potential role of FSTL1 in MSC-based anti-fibrotic therapy and further elucidated the mechanisms underlying its action. Methods Human umbilical cord-derived MSCs were characterized by flow cytometry. FSTL1low MSCs were achieved by FSTL1 siRNA. Migration capacity was evaluated by wound-healing and transwell assay. A murine liver fibrotic model was created by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) injection, while control MSCs or FSTL1low MSC were transplanted via intravenous injection 12 weeks post CCl4 injection. Histopathology, liver function, fibrosis degree, and inflammation were analysed thereafter. Inflammatory cell infiltration was evaluated by flow cytometry after hepatic nonparenchymal cell isolation. An MSC-macrophage co-culture system was constructed to further confirm the role of FSTL1 in the immunosuppressive capacity of MSCs. RNA sequencing was used to screen target genes of FSTL1. Results FSTL1low MSCs had comparable gene expression for surface markers to wildtype but limited differentiation and migration capacity. FSTL1low MSCs failed to alleviate CCl4-induced hepatic fibrosis in a mouse model. Our data indicated that FSTL1 is essential for the immunosuppressive action of MSCs on inflammatory macrophages during liver fibrotic therapy. FSTL1 silencing attenuated this capacity by inhibiting the downstream JAK/STAT1/IDO pathway. Conclusions Our data suggest that FSTL1 facilitates the immunosuppression of MSCs on macrophages and that guarantee the anti-fibrotic effect of MSCs in liver fibrosis.

Abstract Background Despite emerging evidence on the therapeutic potential of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) for liver fibrosis, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. At present, MSC-derived exosomes (MSC-EXOs) are widely accepted as crucial messengers for intercellular communication. This study aimed to explore the therapeutic effects of MSC-EXOs on liver fibrosis and identify the mechanisms underlying the action of MSC-EXOs. Methods Carbon tetrachloride was used to induce a liver fibrosis model, which was intravenously administered with MSCs or MSC-EXOs to assess treatment efficacy. The resulting histopathology, fibrosis degree, inflammation and macrophage polarization were analyzed. RAW264.7 and BMDM cells were used to explore the regulatory effects of MSC-EXOs on macrophage polarization. Then, the critical miRNA mediating the therapeutic effects of MSC-EXOs was screened via RNA sequencing and validated experimentally. Furthermore, the target mRNA and downstream signaling pathways were elucidated by luciferase reporter assay, bioinformatics analysis and western blot. Results MSCs alleviated liver fibrosis largely depended on their secreted exosomes, which were visualized to circulate into liver after transplantation. In addition, MSC-EXOs were found to modulate macrophage phenotype to regulate inflammatory microenvironment in liver and repair the injury. Mechanically, RNA-sequencing illustrates that miR-148a, enriched in the MSC-EXOs, targets Kruppel-like factor 6 (KLF6) to suppress pro-inflammatory macrophages and promote anti-inflammatory macrophages by inhibiting the STAT3 pathway. Administration of miR-148a-enriched MSC-EXOs or miR-148a agomir shows potent ameliorative effects on liver fibrosis. Conclusions These findings suggest that MSC-EXOs protect against liver fibrosis via delivering miR-148a that regulates intrahepatic macrophage functions through KLF6/STAT3 signaling and provide a potential therapeutic target for liver fibrosis.

ABSTRACT Carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (CRPA) is a bacterial pathogen that may cause serious drug-resistant infections that are potentially fatal. To investigate the genetic characteristics of these organisms, we tested 416 P. aeruginosa strains recovered from 12 types of clinical samples collected in 29 different hospital wards in 10 hospitals in Guangdong Province, China, from 2017 to 2020. These strains were found to belong to 149 known sequence types (STs) and 72 novel STs, indicating that transmission of these strains involved multiple routes. A high rate of resistance to imipenem (89.4%) and meropenem (79.4%) and a high prevalence of pathogenic serotypes (76.4%) were observed among these strains. Six STs of global high-risk clones (HiRiCs) and a novel HiRiC strains, ST1971, which exhibited extensive drug resistance, were identified. Importantly, ST1971 HiRiC, which was unique in China, also exhibited high virulence, which alarmed the further surveillance on this highly virulent and highly resistant clone. Inactivation of the oprD gene and overexpression of efflux systems were found to be mainly responsible for carbapenem resistance in these strains; carriage of metallo-β-lactamase (MBL)-encoding genes was less common. Interestingly, frameshift mutations (49.0%) and introduction of a stop codon (22.4%) into the oprD genes were the major mechanisms of imipenem resistance. On the other hand, expression of the MexAB-OprM efflux pump and MBL-encoding genes were mechanisms of resistance in >70% of meropenem-resistant strains. The findings presented here provide insights into the development of effective strategies for control of worldwide dissemination of CRPA. IMPORTANCE Carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (CRPA) is a major concern in clinical settings worldwide, yet few genetic and epidemiological studies on CRPA strains have been performed in China. Here, we sequence and analyze the genomes of 416 P. aeruginosa strains from hospitals in China to elucidate the genetic, phenotypic, and transmission characteristics of CRPA strains and to identify the molecular signatures responsible for the observed increase in the prevalence of CRPA infections in China. These findings may provide new insight into the development of effective strategies for worldwide control of CRPA and minimize the occurrence of untreatable infections in clinical settings.

The present study was performed to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with herbal additives on meat quality, slaughter performance and the cecal microbial community in Hungarian white geese. A total of 60 newborn geese were assigned equally into the control group (CON) and the herbal complex supplemented group (HS). The dietary supplementations consisted of Compound Herbal Additive A (CHAA) including Pulsatilla, Gentian and Rhizoma coptidis, and Compound Herbal Additive B (CHAB) containing Codonopsis pilosula, Atractylodes, Poria cocos and Licorice. The geese in the HS group received a basal diet supplemented with 0.2% CHAA from day 0 to day 42 at the postnatal stage. Then from day 43 to day 70, the geese in HS group were provide a basal diet with 0.15% CHAB. The geese in the CON group were only provided with the basal diet. The results showed that the slaughter rate (SR), half chamber rates (HCR), eviscerated rate (ER) and breast muscle rate (BMR) in the HS group tended to increase slightly compared with the CON group (ns). In addition, the shear force, filtration rate and pH value of breast muscle and thigh muscle in the HS group were slightly enhanced compared to the CON group (ns). Recent studies have shown that microtransplant (MST) could improve outcome of patients with elderly acute myeloid leukemia (EAML). To further standardize the MST therapy and improve outcomes in EAML patients, based on analysis of the literature on MST, especially MST with EAML from January 1st, 2011 to November 30th, 2022, the International Microtransplant Interest Group provides recommendations and considerations for MST in the treatment of EAML. Four major issues related to MST for treating EAML were addressed: therapeutic principle of MST (1), candidates for MST (2), induction chemotherapy regimens (3), and post-remission therapy based on MST (4). Others included donor screening, infusion of donor cells, laboratory examinations, and complications of treatment.

This open-label, multicenter, single-arm study aimed to investigate the antitumor activity and safety of camrelizumab (a PD-1 blockade) plus apatinib (an antiangiogenic agent) for patients with r/r PTCL.MethodsEligible patients with r/r PTCL were enrolled and received camrelizumab 200 mg intravenously every 2 weeks and apatinib 500 or 250 mg orally once daily, 4 weeks as a cycle. The primary endpoint was overall response rate (ORR).ResultsA total of 20 patients were enrolled and received study medications in the study, with a median number of prior treatment line of 3 (range 1-6). At the cutoff date of March 4, 2022, the median follow-up was 27.2 months (range: 0.5-39.9), and three patients remained on treatment. Six patients had early discontinuation without tumor response evaluation. For all patients, the ORR was 30% (6/20) (95% confidence interval [CI], 11.9% to 54.3%), with two patients (10%) achieving complete response. The median progression-free survival (PFS) and median overall survival for all patients were 5.6 months (95% CI, 1.8 to not reached) and 16.7 months (95% CI, 2.8 to not reached), respectively. Patients with PD-L1 expression ≥50% (3 patients) had a numerically higher ORR and longer median PFS than those with PD-L1 expression < 50% (5 patients). The most commonly reported grade 3 or higher adverse events were hyperlipidemia (15%), hypokalemia (15%) and anemia (15%). No treatment-related deaths occurred.DiscussionIn this study, PD-1 inhibitors plus low-dose antiangiogenic drugs presented preliminary antitumor activity and manageable toxicity in patients with r/r PTCL.

The widespread interest in using drones in maritime transport has rapidly grown alongside the development of unmanned ships and drones. To stimulate growth and address the associated technical challenges, this paper systematically reviews the relevant research progress, classification, applications, technical challenges, and possible solutions related to the use of drones in the maritime sector. The findings provide an overview of the state of the art of the applications of drones in the maritime industry over the past 20 years and identify the existing problems and bottlenecks in this field. A new classification scheme is established based on their flight characteristics to aid in distinguishing drones’ applications in maritime transport. Further, this paper discusses the specific use cases and technical aspects of drones in maritime rescue, safety, navigation, environment, communication, and other aspects, providing in-depth guidance on the future development of different mainstream applications. Lastly, the challenges facing drones in these applications are identified, and the corresponding solutions are proposed to address them. This research offers pivotal insights and pertinent knowledge beneficial to various entities such as maritime regulatory bodies, shipping firms, academic institutions, and enterprises engaged in drone production. This paper makes new contributions in terms of the comprehensive analysis and discussion of the application of drones in maritime transport and the provision of guidance and support for promoting their further development and integration with intelligent transport.

Abstract Offshore wind farms (OWFs) have received widespread attention for their abundant unexploited wind energy potential and convenient locations conditions. They are rapidly developing towards having large capacity and being located further away from shore. It is thus necessary to explore effective power transmission technologies to connect large OWFs to onshore grids. At present, three types of power transmission technologies have been proposed for large OWF integration. They are: high voltage alternating current (HVAC) transmission, high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission, and low-frequency alternating current (LFAC) or fractional frequency alternating current transmission. This work undertakes a comprehensive review of grid connection technologies for large OWF integration. Compared with previous reviews, a more exhaustive summary is provided to elaborate HVAC, LFAC, and five HVDC topologies, consisting of line-commutated converter HVDC, voltage source converter HVDC, hybrid-HVDC, diode rectifier-based HVDC, and all DC transmission systems. The fault ride-through technologies of the grid connection schemes are also presented in detail to provide research references and guidelines for researchers. In addition, a comprehensive evaluation of the seven grid connection technologies for large OWFs is proposed based on eight specific indicators. Finally, eight conclusions and six perspectives are outlined for future research in integrating large OWFs.

Abstract Mining hotel social sensing data and analyzing its spatial and temporal characteristics can provide decision support for hotel managers. Present research on this topic is limited to the overall hotel industry and text mining. Here, we first obtain POI and reviews for star-rated hotels in Nanchang from 2018 to 2021. Secondly, the hotel POI (Point of Interest) is combined with the sentiment value of customer reviews. Finally, comparative analysis and topic mining of Spatio-temporal aspects of text reviews of different star-rated hotels are conducted using sentiment analysis, spatial analysis, and thematic social network analysis. Results show that: (1) Hotel star rating and hotel review sentiment value are significantly positively correlated. The seasonal trends of different star rating hotel sentiment values are similar, but are highest in summer and lower in autumn; (2) The highest sentiment value is seen for friends’ outings and the lowest is for business trips; (3) Customer reviews of star-rated hotels focus on three aspects: facilities, service, and location. Three-star hotels focus on the stay experience, while four-star hotels focus on the breakfast situation. Exploring hotel social sensing data can intuitively illustrate hotel selection’s behavioral patterns and spatial-temporal characteristics. The methods of this study can expand the application of social sensing data in different fields, such as the tourism and restaurant industries.

This paper proposes and demonstrates a novel filtering phase shifter with a compact size and good frequency selectivity using two dual composite right/left-handed (D-CRLH) resonators. Firstly, the study analyzes the D-CRLH structure to gain insights into its unique properties, providing a physical understanding for subsequent design procedures. Then, an ad hoc systematic design procedure for the D-CRLH phase shifter is discussed in detail. Different from the traditional phase shifter, the innovative integration of D-CRLH structure in phase shifters enables its advantages in the flexible realization of good in-band frequency selectivity and compact size. This advantageous utilization of the D-CRLH structure distinguishes our proposed phase shifter from conventional implementations. Finally, to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed structure, we design, fabricate, and measure a prototype of the filtering phase shifter with a 90° phase shift. The comparison between simulation and measurement results shows good agreement, thereby confirming the effectiveness of both the new filtering phase shifter and the presented design procedure. Through this comprehensive investigation, our work showcases a promising solution for achieving compact size, good frequency selectivity, and reliable performance in phase shifter design.

The prevalence of soluble aluminum (Al) ions is one of the major limitations to crop production worldwide on acid soils. Therefore, understanding the Al tolerance mechanism of rice and applying Al tolerance functional genes in sensitive plants can significantly improve Al stress resistance. In this study, transcriptomics and metabolomics analyses were performed to reveal the mechanism of Al tolerance differences between two rice landraces (Al-tolerant genotype Shibanzhan (KR) and Al-sensitive genotype Hekedanuo (MR) with different Al tolerance. The results showed that DEG related to phenylpropanoid biosynthesis was highly enriched in KR and MR after Al stress, indicating that phenylpropanoid biosynthesis may be closely related to Al tolerance. E1.11.1.7 (peroxidase) was the most significant enzyme of phenylpropanoid biosynthesis in KR and MR under Al stress and is regulated by multiple genes. We further identified that two candidate genes Os02g0770800 and Os06g0521900 may be involved in the regulation of Al tolerance in rice. Our results not only reveal the resistance mechanism of rice to Al stress to some extent, but also provide a useful reference for the molecular mechanism of different effects of Al poisoning on plants.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of the pretreatment systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) in non-metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of 839 patients with non-metastatic NPC recruited from two independent institutions. The training-set cohort and the external validation-set cohort was comprised of 459 and 380 patients from each institution, respectively. The optimal cut-off value of SII was determined, and a prognostic risk stratification model was developed based on the training cohort and further assessed in the validation cohort. The propensity score matching (PSM) method was applied to minimize the confounding effects of unbalanced covariables. Results: The optimal cut-off value of the SII in the training cohort was 686, which was confirmed using the validation cohort. Multivariate analysis showed that both before and after PSM, SII values > 686 were independently associated with worse progression-free survival (PFS) ratio in both cohorts (before PSM, P = 0.008 and P = 0.008; after PSM, P = 0.008 and P = 0.007, respectively). Based on the analysis of independent prognostic factors of SII and N stage, we developed a categorical risk stratification model, which achieved significant discrimination among risk indexes associated with PFS and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS) in the training cohort. There was no significant difference in PFS between RT alone and combined therapies within the low- and intermediate-risk groups (5-year PFS, 77.5% vs. 75.3%, P = 0.275). Patients in the high-risk group who received concurrent chemoradiotherapy experienced superior PFS compared with those who received other therapies (5-year PFS, 64.9% vs. 40.3%, P = 0.003). Conclusion: Pretreatment SII predicts PFS of patients with non-metastatic NPC. Prognostic risk stratification incorporating SII is instructive for selecting individualized treatment.

Abstract Background To investigate the clinical characteristics of metachronous second primary malignancies (Met‐SPMs) and its impact on prognosis in hypopharyngeal carcinoma (HPC). Methods We reviewed 593 newly diagnosed HPC patients without invasive synchronous SPMs (Syn‐SPMs) who were treated in our cancer center between 2009 and 2019. According to the status during follow‐up, patients were classified into three groups: (a) without SPMs (No‐SPMs, n = 440), (b) with tumors in situ in the esophagus or stomach (Tis, n = 80), or (c) with Met‐SPMs (n = 73). Results The median follow‐up time for entire cohort (n = 593) was 66.7 months. Met‐SPMs were present in 12.3% of the cohort (73/593). The predominant site of SPMs was esophagus, followed by lung, oral cavity, thyroid, stomach, and oropharynx. In Met‐SPMs group, both index tumor and SPMs were the main causes of death. Tis group exhibited comparable 5‐year overall survival (OS) and disease‐specific survival (DSS) with that of No‐SPMs group. The Met‐SPMs group had similar 5‐year OS rate and better 5‐year DSS rate of 47.3% versus 43.6% (odds ratio [OR], 0.931; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.681–1.274, p = 0.657) and 66.3% vs. 46.2% (OR, 0.600; 95% CI, 0.402–0.896, p = 0.012), respectively, compared with the No‐SPMs group. Conclusion The overall incidence of Met‐SPMs in HPC was 12.3%. The occurrence of Met‐SPMs does not jeopardize the survival outcome of HPC. Routine surveillance of Met‐SPMs was requisite for patients with HPC.
