Phase change materials (PCMs) are recognized as a promising passive energy retrofit technology for existing buildings, as they are applied to the internal and external surfaces of the building with less impact on the original structure. However, the effectiveness of PCMs varies from region to region. Taking the Central Plains of China as an example, this paper investigated the effect of phase change temperature and material thickness variation on the energy efficiency of PCM when it was arranged on 14 placements including furniture through EnergyPlus (E+). And further explored the applicability of coupling PCMs with natural ventilation (NV). The results showed that: for the Central Plains of China, PCMs arranged on the internal surface of building roofs were optimal, and the reduction rate of uncomfortable degree hours could reach 38%, 26%, 24% and 40% after integrating PCMs into the roof, floor, external wall and furniture. The uncomfortable degree hour reduction rate per unit mass of PCM was 0.052%/kg for the roof, and the value of furniture was very close to the external wall and floor, which achieved 0.033%/kg. Abstract: Gas diffusion layers (GDLs) of direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs), consisting of a microporous layer (MPL) and a back layer (BL), influence the cell performance and stability significantly due to the critical function that the GDL undertook, i.e., distribution of reactants and removal of the products in electrodes. The hydrophilic/hydrophobic properties of the GDLs are required to tailor to the transport/transfer of reactants/products depending on a specific electrode reaction. One important way to adjust the hydrophobic/hydrophilic properties of GDLs is to vary PTFE content in GDLs. In this paper, we employ infrared spectroscopy technique, specifically, diffuse reflection (DR) method and attenuation total reflection (ATR) method, to determine the PTFE content in both MPLs and BLs quantitatively by comparing the measured C-F intensity with the pre-calibrated standard plots. Compared to the ATR method, the DR method takes advantages of sensitivity, wide range and precision. By the DR method, we succeed in observing that PTFE in MPLs migrates to BLs, consistent with the corresponding EDX results for a sample experienced 600 h lifetime test, suggesting DR method an effective approach to determine quantitatively the hydrophilic/hydrophobic properties of both MPLs and BLs. Abstract: Methanol electro-oxidation reaction over carbon-supported platinum nanoparticles, including methanol adsorption, apparent reaction order and activation energy, in acidic and alkaline media was investigated comparatively. The results show that the rate constant for methanol adsorption in 1M NaOH is significantly higher than that in 0.5M H2SO4 at the relatively low potential and the COad removal in alkaline media is easier, due to the availability of oxygen-containing species, than in acidic media at the same potential. The apparent activation energy for the MOR in alkaline media is 25.3–14.6kJmol−1, significantly lower than that in acidic media (34.9–28.5kJmol−1). The better MOR activity of Pt/C in alkaline media is attributed to the faster methanol adsorption and the availability of oxygen-containing species. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Biological targeted therapy serves as a new alternative treatment for psoriasis due to its minimal side effects. This study is aimed at examining the drug effectiveness and safety of risankizumab and ustekinumab for psoriasis treatment, so as to provide a reference for clinical decision-making. Databases from Embase, Web of Science, PubMed, and Cochrane Library were gathered, starting from inception to March 1, 2022, for randomized controlled trials regarding risankizumab and ustekinumab for psoriasis treatment. All retrieved articles were carefully selected in strict accordance with a set of inclusion and exclusion criteria. Stata 15.0 and RevMan 5.4 were applied to perform meta-analysis and risk of bias assessment. A total of two trials with three NCTs were selected, with 384 participants in the risankizumab group and 140 participants in ustekinumab. Meta-analysis showed that in the long-term and short-term PASI100, risankizumab was more effective than ustekinumab (RR = 2.27, 95% CI (1.77, 2.90), p < 0.05; RR = 2.33, 95% CI (1.75, 3.08), p < 0.05). In PASI90, RR = 1.77, 95% CI (1.54, 2.03), and p < 0.05 and RR = 1.72, 95% CI (1.48, 2.00), and p < 0.05. In short-term PASI75, RR = 1.23, 95% CI (1.13, 1.34), and p < 0.05. In sPGA of 0, the results at week-16 and week-52 showed that risankizumab was significantly more effective than ustekinumab (RR = 2.24, 95% CI (1.67, 3.01), p < 0.05; RR = 2.30, 95% CI (1.80, 2.95), p < 0.05). Risankizumab was significantly more effective than ustekinumab in improving the quality of life and PSS scores (RR = 1.48, 95% CI (1.26, 1.75), p < 0.05; RR = 2.01, 95% CI (1.41, 2.85), p < 0.05). Nevertheless, risankizumab and ustekinumab did not show significant difference in the incidence of adverse responses (RR = 1.02, 95% CI (0.75, 1.39), p > 0.05). Risankizumab was more effective than ustekinumab for the treatment of psoriasis. The adverse reactions of both risankizumab and ustekinumab were similar and could be tolerated. Abstract: To investigate the effect of carbon support adding sequence on Pt particle sizes and Pt utilizations during the polyol process of the electrocatalyst preparation, a series of Pt/C electrocatalysts (different Pt loadings, two kinds of carbon supports−Vulcan XC and Black Pearls 2000) were prepared, namely, Pt/C-a (first reduced Pt ions to form Pt nanoparticles, which subsequently deposited on carbon supports) and Pt/C-b (Pt precursors were first impregnated with carbon supports, then reduced to Pt nanoparticles). The physical properties of the electrocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and nitrogen adsorption. The catalytic activities of the electrocatalysts toward the oxygen reduction reaction and the methanol oxidation reaction were characterized by potentiodynamic measurements. The results show that the carbon support adding sequence has significant effects on the Pt particle sizes, especially for the carbon supports with large amount of micropores, as a result, leading to different catalytic activities. Abstract: A new anion exchange membrane was synthesized by a green and facile route---chemically grafting polybenzimidazole (PBI) membrane with BrCH2CH3. The obtained membrane was characterized by means of ex-situ and in-situ tests (EDX, FTIR, AC impedance, single cell test and so on). The results suggested that the group of –CH2CH3 was successfully grafted onto N atom within PBI backbone, while with Br− as counter ion. The corresponding ionic conductivity and ethanol permeability were about 0.022 Scm−1 and 5.24 × 10−8 cm2s−1, respectively. Finally, single cell test suggested that air-breathing alkaline direct ethanol fuel cell with quaternized PBI membrane can deliver a peak power density of about 11 mWcm−2 even at ambient temperature of 13 °C, which was better than those of air-breathing alkaline direct methanol fuel cell in literatures.
