In this paper, the concept of symmetry is utilized to design the trajectory planning for parallel parking of autonomous ground vehicles—that is, the construction and the solution of the optimization-based trajectory planning approach are symmetrical. Parking is the main factor that troubles most drivers for their daily driving travel, and it can even lead to traffic congestion in severe cases. With the rise of new intelligent and autonomous vehicles, automatic parking seems to have become a trend. Traditional geometric planning methods are less adaptable to parking scenarios, while the parking paths planned by graph search methods may only achieve local optimality. Additionally, significant computational time is often required by numerical optimization methods to find a parking path when a good initial solution is not available. This paper presents a hierarchical trajectory planning approach for high-quality parallel parking of autonomous ground vehicles. The approach begins with a graph search layer to roughly generate an initial solution, which is refined by a numerical optimization layer to produce a high-quality parallel parking trajectory. Considering the high dimensionality and difficulty of finding an optimal solution for the path planning optimization problem, this paper proposes an improved safe travel corridor (I-STC) with the construction of collision constraints isolated from surrounding environmental obstacles. By constructing collision constraints of the I-STC based on the initial solution, the proposed method avoids the complexities and non-differentiability of traditional obstacle avoidance constraints, and simplifies the problem modeling the subsequent numerical optimization process. Misunderstanding the driver behavior in the next short time is the primary reason of the false warning for the lane departure warning system. This paper proposes a learning-based evaluation to predict whether the driver notices the deviation of the vehicle and takes corrective actions. First, statistical Gaussian model and K-means clustering method are utilized to classify driving style of drivers and determine warning areas based on key driving parameters extracted in driving scenarios. Then, according to the vehicle trajectory in the warning area and the time of lane crossing (TLC) value of the two warning area boundaries, an advanced horizontal dual-area warning (HDAW) model that is trained by bi-direction long short-term memory (BiLSTM) originated from recurrent neural network (RNN) is applied to predict the lane departure and corrective behavior of driver. The personalized warning strategy is finally developed by considering driver characteristics, which allows the warning system to adapt to different driving styles of drivers. Natural driving data from 57 drivers in the experimental driving simulator are collected to train personalized prediction and verify proposed evaluation method. The recent directional sequence of piecewise lateral slopes (DSPLS) and traditional TLC are also researched and compared. Experimental results show that the proposed approach has as low as false alarm rate of 3.97% and can improve prediction accuracy approximately 41.39% over DSPLS method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Lightweight electric vehicles (LEVs) possess great advantages in the viewpoint of fuel consumption, environment protection and traffic mobility. However, due to the drastic reduction of vehicle weights and body size, the effects of payload parameter variation in LEV control and estimation system become much more pronounced and have to be systematically analysed. This paper proposes a novel payload parameter sensitivity analysis to provide quantitative insight into the sensitivity of payload parameter on the LEV system responses and state estimation. The analysis-oriented LEV dynamic model considering payload parameter variations is developed. Then, the trajectory sensitivity index of the influential parameters is defined and derived with the perturbation approach, the median method is used to improve the calculation accuracy for the trajectory sensitivity of payload parameter. Finally, the extended Kalman filter is designed to show the effect and importance of the sensitive payload parameters on the observation accuracy, the payload parameter variations along with fundamental state estimation such as vehicle sideslip angle, longitudinal velocity and vehicle roll angle are analysed. Simulation results with Matlab/Simulink-Carsim® show that the proposed method can accurately describe the relationship between the vehicle payload parameters and system state estimation, which is helpful to design and evaluate LEV controller and observer performances. The stable detection and tracking of high-speed vehicles on the road by using LiDAR can input accurate information for the decision-making module and improve the driving safety of smart cars. This paper proposed a novel LiDAR-based robust vehicle detection method including three parts: point cloud clustering, bounding box fitting and point cloud recognition. Firstly, aiming at the problem of clustering quality degradation caused by the uneven distribution of LiDAR point clouds and the difference in clustering radius between point cloud clusters in traditional DBSCAN (TDBSCAN) obstacle clustering algorithms, an improved DBSCAN algorithm based on distance-adaptive clustering radius (ADBSCAN) is designed, and a point cloud KD-Tree data structure is constructed to speed up the traversal of the algorithm; meanwhile, the OPTICS algorithm is introduced to enhance the performance of the proposed algorithm. Then, by adopting different fitting strategies for vehicle contour points in various states, the adaptability of the bounding box fitting algorithm is improved; Moreover, in view of the shortcomings of the poor robustness of the L-shape algorithm, the principal component analysis method (PCA) is introduced to obtain stable bounding box fitting results. Finally, considering the time-consuming and low-accuracy training of traditional machine learning algorithms, advanced PointNet in deep learning technique is built to send the point cloud within the bounding box of a high-confidence vehicle into PointNet to complete vehicle recognition. Experiments based on our autonomous driving perception platform and the KITTI dataset prove that the proposed method can stably complete vehicle target recognition and achieve a good balance between time-consuming and accuracy.
