4. Efficient Self‐Sorting Behaviours of Metallacages with Subtle Structural Differences.

Abstract

Investigating the self‐sorting behaviour of assemblies with subtle structural differences is a captivating yet challenging endeavour. Herein, we elucidate the unusual self‐sorting behaviour of metallacages with subtle structural differences in batch reactors and microdroplets. Narcissistic self‐sorting of metallacages has been observed for two ligands with identical sizes, shapes, and symmetries, with only minor differences in the substituted groups. In particular, the self‐sorting process in microdroplets occurs within 1 min at room temperature, in stark contrast to batch reactors, which require equilibration for 30 min. To reveal the mechanism of self‐sorting and the role of microdroplets, we conducted a series of experiments and theoretical calculations, including competitive self‐assembly, cage‐to‐cage transformation, control experiments involving model metallacages with larger cavities, noncovalent interaction analysis, and root mean square deviation (RMSD) analysis. This research demonstrates an unusual case of self‐sorting of very similar assemblies and provides a new strategy for facilitating the self‐sorting efficiency of supramolecular systems. Abstract

This article explores the construction and properties of a new type of metallacage that exhibits fluorescence response to anions. The authors discuss the contributions of scientists in the field of supramolecular metalloarchitectures and detail the synthesis of the metallacage using a ligand decorated with fluorescent motifs. The metallacage demonstrates strong responses to specific anions, resulting in rapid fluorescence enhancement. Abstract

In order to evaluate the influence of Daphnia magna and Ceratophyllum demersum on the control of algae under different phosphorus concentrations, Cyclotella sp., Microcystis aeruginosa, and Chlorella vulgaris were selected to establish an aquatic microcosmic model. When the phosphorus concentration ranged from 0.05 to 2 mg L−1, D. magna significantly inhibited the three species of algae from different phylum, particularly M. aeruginosa, and the total growth rates of the three species of algae decreased with the increase of phosphorus concentration. When the phosphorus concentration ranged from 0.05 to 2 mg L−1, C. demersum imparted a significant inhibition of the three species of algae, particularly M. aeruginosa. The total growth rates of the three species of algae were reduced with higher phosphorus concentrations; however, the effect was lower than that of D. magna, with C. vulgaris as the dominant species. When the phosphorus concentration ranged from 0.05 to 2 mg L−1, D. magna combined with C. demersum inhibited the growth of the three species of algae to a considerable degree, which was an improvement over that of other experimental groups using only D. magna or C. demersum by themselves. The total growth rates of algae were reduced with higher phosphorus concentrations. When the phosphorus concentration ranged from 0.05 to 0.1 mg L−1, the removal rates of phosphorus exceeded 90%, and the phosphorus concentration became the limiting factor in the culture system. We observed that under higher initial phosphorus concentrations, the nitrogen removal rate increased, whereas the phosphorus removal rate decreased.

20. Supramolecular flow chemistry: Construction of multiscale supramolecular assemblies by micro/nanofluidic techniques

Abstract

The rapid and precise fabrication of multiscale supramolecular assemblies using micro/nanofluidic techniques has emerged as a dynamic area of research in supramolecular chemistry, materials chemistry, and organic chemistry. This review summarizes the application of micro/nanofluidic techniques in constructing supramolecular assemblies, including nanoscale supramolecular assemblies such as macrocycles and cages, microscale supramolecular assemblies such as metal organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs), and macroscale supramolecular assemblies such as supramolecular hydrogels. Compared to conventional synthesis methods, micro/nanofluidic techniques for the production of supramolecular assemblies have significant advantages, including enhanced safety, high reaction rates, improved selectivity/yield, and scalability. Additionally, micro/nanofluidic systems facilitate the creation of precisely controllable micro/nanoconfined environments, allowing for a unique flow behavior that improves our understanding of the supramolecular self-assembly process. Such systems may also lead to the development of novel supramolecular assemblies that differ from those generated viatraditional methods.

21. Engineering naphthalimide-cyanine integrated near-infrared dye into ROS-responsive nanohybrids for tumor PDT/PTT/chemotherapy

Abstract

Photodynamic (PDT) and photothermal therapies (PTT) are emerging treatments for tumour ablation. Organic dyes such as porphyrin, chlorin, phthalocyanine, boron-dipyrromethene and cyanine are the clinically or preclinically used photosensitizer or photothermal agents. Development of structurally diverse near-infrared dyes with long absorption wavelength is of great significance for PDT and PTT. Herein, we report a novel near-infrared dye ML880with naphthalimide modified cyanine skeleton. The introduction of naphthalimide moiety results in stronger electron delocalization and larger redshift in emission compared with IR820. Furthermore, ML880is co-loaded with chemotherapeutic drug into ROS-responsive mesoporous organosilica (RMON) to construct nanomedicine NBD&ML@RMON, which exhibits remarkable tumor inhibition effects through PDT/PTT/chemotherapy in vivo.
