In view of system uncertainty and input saturation of autonomous undersea vehicles(AUVs), an improved adaptive neural network-based prescribed performance control strategy was proposed to track the desired trajectory. Firstly, the nonlinear transformation was introduced to ensure that the position error remained within the preset time-varying range, improving control accuracy. Based on backstepping and Lyapunov functions, a virtual control law for the system was designed. Then, the neural network technology was used to process the unknown parameters of the system model, and the real control law of the system was reconstructed, which simplified the traditional backstepping control strategy and effectively reduced the computational complexity. Then, based on the Lyapunov stability theory, all the error signals of the AUV system were confirmed to be bounded. Finally, compared with traditional dynamic surface control methods, the simulation results show that the proposed control strategy has better control performance and can effectively overcome the impact of uncertainty on system performance by considering input saturation, effectively tracking target trajectories.

Abstract Gas separation is crucial for industrial production and environmental protection, with metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) offering a promising solution due to their tunable structural properties and chemical compositions. Traditional simulation approaches, such as molecular dynamics, are complex and computationally demanding. Although feature engineering-based machine learning methods perform better, they are susceptible to overfitting because of limited labeled data. Furthermore, these methods are typically designed for single tasks, such as predicting gas adsorption capacity under specific conditions, which restricts the utilization of comprehensive datasets including all adsorption capacities. To address these challenges, we propose Uni-MOF, an innovative framework for large-scale, three-dimensional MOF representation learning, designed for multi-purpose gas prediction. Specifically, Uni-MOF serves as a versatile gas adsorption estimator for MOF materials, employing pure three-dimensional representations learned from over 631,000 collected MOF and COF structures. Our experimental results show that Uni-MOF can automatically extract structural representations and predict adsorption capacities under various operating conditions using a single model. For simulated data, Uni-MOF exhibits remarkably high predictive accuracy across all datasets. Additionally, the values predicted by Uni-MOF correspond with the outcomes of adsorption experiments. Furthermore, Uni-MOF demonstrates considerable potential for broad applicability in predicting a wide array of other properties.

Deep learning-based image processing methods for medical brain tumors are current research hotspots in this field. However, a great deal of research has focused on how to classify and segment brain tumors, while relatively little research has been done on brain tumor detection. This is mainly because brain tumor images are often filled with indistinguishable lesions, which can easily lead to false positives or missed diagnoses, and the YOLO detection algorithm has attracted a lot of attention due to its efficient real-time target detection capability. Based on the YOLO framework, we created a new neural network to accurately identify lesion regions in brain tumor medical images.The core of the approach is to propose a feature extraction network based on reparameterized heterogeneous convolution of large kernels(RGNet), and a incorporating an attention grather and distribute strategy(GDB). RGNet can better cope with significant changes in scale and different contextual feature textures in brain tumor detection, and GDB aggregates high-level and low-level semantic features and spatial details to overcome the information loss problem of the traditional feature pyramid module during feature fusion. information loss problem, and utilizes structured convolution module and channel mixing technique to improve the refinement of multi-dimensional details and enrich the semantic information during the whole feature fusion process. The experimental results show that compared with other object detection models, our model achieves 95.4% precision, 93.9% recall, 96.9% mAP50, and 74.8% mAP50:95 on the Br35H dataset,and 47.1% precision, 86.1% recall, 54.0% mAP50, and 38.7% mAP50:95 on the Ultralytics brain tumor dataset. These numbers not only highlight the effectiveness of the proposed model in brain tumor detection, but also provide new ideas for the subsequent application of object detection in medical imaging and clinical disease diagnosis.

In recent years, hate speech spread on the Internet has seriously affected society’s harmony, stability, and development. A way to quickly identify hate speech from the vast amount of data on the Internet is urgent. In this paper, different from previous traditional methods, we explore a novel scenario of constructing a syntax dependency graph for each instance based on the syntactical information retrieved from an external tool. We propose a model called the Dependency Graph Convolutional and Sentiment Knowledge Transfer (DGCSKT) network. DGCSKT utilizes syntactic dependency graphs and dependency graph convolutional operations to enhance the model’s ability to perceive contextual information. Additionally, we introduce sentiment resources that are data-homogeneous as an auxiliary task at the bottom level of the model to share effective sentiment features and improve recognition performance. Then, we propose the Dynamic Normalized Weighting (DNW) method to weight the training information of different tasks and thus improve the model’s generalization ability. Compared to the current state-of-the-art methods, our proposed approach improves the Macro-F1 by 3.88% and 0.54% in OLID and HateEval respectively.

BackgroundTemozolomide (TMZ) is a key component in the treatment of gliomas. Hypermutation induced by TMZ can be encountered in routine clinical practice, and its significance is progressively gaining recognition. However, the relationship between TMZ-induced hypermutation and the immunologic response remains controversial.Case presentationWe present the case of a 38-year-old male patient who underwent five surgeries for glioma. Initially diagnosed with IDH-mutant astrocytoma (WHO grade 2) during the first two surgeries, the disease progressed to grade 4 in subsequent interventions. Prior to the fourth surgery, the patient received 3 cycles of standard TMZ chemotherapy and 9 cycles of dose-dense TMZ regimens. Genomic and immunologic analyses of the tumor tissue obtained during the fourth surgery revealed a relatively favorable immune microenvironment, as indicated by an immunophenoscore of 5, suggesting potential benefits from immunotherapy. Consequently, the patient underwent low-dose irradiation combined with immunoadjuvant treatment. After completing 4 cycles of immunotherapy, the tumor significantly shrank, resulting in a partial response. However, after a 6-month duration of response, the patient experienced disease progression. Subsequent analysis of the tumor tissue obtained during the fifth surgery revealed the occurrence of hypermutation, with mutation signature analysis attributing TMZ treatment as the primary cause. Unfortunately, the patient succumbed shortly thereafter, with a survival period of 126 months.ConclusionPatients subjected to a prolonged regimen of TMZ treatment may exhibit heightened vulnerability to hypermutation. This hypermutation induced by TMZ holds the potential to function as an indicator associated with unfavorable response to immunotherapy in gliomas.

The main contribution of this paper is the proposal of a six-degree-of-freedom (6-DoF) refueling robotic arm positioning and docking technology guided by RGB-D camera visual guidance, as well as conducting in-depth research and experimental validation on the technology. We have integrated the YOLOv8 algorithm with the Perspective-n-Point (PnP) algorithm to achieve precise detection and pose estimation of the target refueling interface. The focus is on resolving the recognition and positioning challenges of a specialized refueling interface by the 6-DoF robotic arm during the automated refueling process. To capture the unique characteristics of the refueling interface, we developed a dedicated dataset for the specialized refueling connectors, ensuring the YOLO algorithm’s accurate identification of the target interfaces. Subsequently, the detected interface information is converted into precise 6-DoF pose data using the PnP algorithm. These data are used to determine the desired end-effector pose of the robotic arm. The robotic arm’s movements are controlled through a trajectory planning algorithm to complete the refueling gun docking process. An experimental setup was established in the laboratory to validate the accuracy of the visual recognition and the applicability of the robotic arm’s docking posture. The experimental results demonstrate that under general lighting conditions, the recognition accuracy of this docking interface method meets the docking requirements. Compared to traditional vision-guided methods based on OpenCV, this visual guidance algorithm exhibits better adaptability and effectively provides pose information for the robotic arm.

Background: ShenQiWan is commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy, which is closely related to mitochondrial fusion and endoplasmic reticulum stress. This study aimed to investigate the intervention effect and molecular mechanisms of ShenQiWan on renal injury in KKAy mice.Methods: C57BL/6J mice (11 weeks old) were fed a regular diet upon arrival, while KKAy mice (11 weeks old) were fed a high-fat diet upon arrival. At 12 weeks of age, KKAy mice with random blood glucose ≥13.9 mmol/L were identified as diabetic mice and randomly divided into the model group (n = 30) and the treatment group (n = 30), while C57BL/6J mice of 12 weeks old (n = 30) served as the control group. The treatment group received daily aqueous decoction of ShenQiWan (13.5 g/kg), while the control group and model group received daily equal amounts of saline from 12 weeks old to 24 weeks old. The general status of mice was observed regularly, and fasting blood glucose and 24-hour urine microalbumin were measured. Ten mice were euthanized in each group at the age of 16, 20, and 24 weeks, serum samples were used for biochemical indexes and kidney tissues were used for morphological studies. GRP78, OPA1, MFN1, MFN2 mRNA and protein expression were detected by Real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry and Western blot.Results: The mice in the model group exhibited symptoms of lethargy, slow movement, obesity, polyuria and proteinuria. Morphological observation revealed pathological changes, including thickening of the glomerular basement membrane and interstitial fibrosis. After treatment with ShenQiWan, the fasting blood glucose level of KKAy mice was significantly reduced, urinary albuminuria was decreased, serum biochemical indexes were improved, renal tissue pathological changes were significantly alleviated. The results also showed a significant reduction in the expression of endoplasmic reticulum stress-related factor GRP78 and an increase in the expression of mitochondrial fusion-related factors OPA1, MFN1 and MFN2 after treatment with ShenQiWan.Conclusion: ShenQiWan can protect diabetic mice from renal damage by modulating mitochondrial fusion and alleviating endoplasmic reticulum stress, exerting its protective effects.

In this paper, a novel predictive model is proposed for the supersonic ejector in the refrigeration system based on the artificial neural network technique. A composite performance prediction framework for the supersonic ejector is developed by employing a back propagation neural network with particle swarm optimization (PSO-BPNN) algorithm and a dynamic error compensation method. Firstly, we study the model construction problem for the supersonic ejector based on the traditional BPNN modeling method and the PSO algorithm. And then, a dynamic compensation technique is given to improve the predictive accuracy of the ejector model based on the adaptive neural network method. Finally, both the simulation and experimental results are given to verify our method. The experimental validation results show that most prediction errors of our model are less than 4%. Therefore, compared with the existing traditional models, our model has a higher accuracy.

Abstract Inflammation and glutamate (GLU) are widely thought to participate in the pathogenesis of depression, and current evidence suggests that the development of depression is associated with the activation of the kynurenine pathway (KP). However, the exact mechanism of KP among the inflammation, GLU and depression remain poorly understood. In this study, we examined the involvement of KP, inflammation and GLU in depressive phenotype induced by chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) in C57B/6 J mice. Our results showed that CUMS caused depressive like-behavior in the sucrose preference test, tail suspension test and forced swimming test. From a molecular perspective, CUMS upregulated the peripheral and central inflammatory response and activated indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO), the rate-limiting enzyme of KP, which converts tryptophan (TRP) into kynurenine (KYN). KYN is a precursor for QA in microglia, which could activate the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR), increasing the GLU release, mirrored by increased IDO activity, quinolinic acid and GLU levels in the hippocampus, prefrontal cortex and serum. However, intervention with IDO inhibitor 1-methyl-DL-tryptophan (50 mg/kg/s.c.) and 1-methyl-L-tryptophan (15 mg/kg/i.p.) reversed the depressive-like behaviors and adjusted central and peripheral KP’s metabolisms levels as well as GLU content, but the inflammation levels were not completely affected. These results provide certain evidence that KP may be a vital pathway mediated by IDO linking inflammation and glutamate, contributing to depression.

Rapid industrial development has led to excessive levels of various contaminants in natural water, which poses a challenge to the innovation of environmental remediation technology. In recent years, iron sulfide and its modified materials have attracted extensive attention in environmental remediation due to their high activity in advanced oxidation processes and widespread existence in anoxic environment. This paper reviewed the latest advances of the synthesis methods for iron sulfide and modified FeS. In addition, the application of persulfate activation by iron sulfide materials (FeS, FeSx, S−ZVI, FeS@Carbon materials and MFexSy) for contaminants remediation is also reviewed, and the enhancement of this system by photo irradiation, ultrasound, and microwave have also been concluded. Additionally, the interaction mechanism of iron sulfide and persulfate with contaminants was reviewed. Based on the above contents, we concluded that the long−term stability of iron sulfide, the toxicity to organisms of iron sulfide materials in the treated water, and the combination of FeS/PS with other assisted technologies should be focused in future.

The traditional underwater integrated navigation system is based on an optical fiber gyroscope and Doppler Velocity Log, which is high-precision but also expensive, heavy, bulky and difficult to adapt to the development requirements of AUV swarm, intelligence and miniaturization. This paper proposes a low-cost, light-weight, small-volume and low-computation underwater integrated navigation system based on MEMS IMU/DVL/USBL. First, according to the motion formula of AUV, a five-dimensional state equation of the system was established, whose dimension was far less than that of the traditional. Second, the main source of error was considered. As the velocity observation value of the system, the velocity measured by DVL eliminated the scale error and lever arm error. As the position observation value of the system, the position measured by USBL eliminated the lever arm error. Third, to solve the issue of inconsistent observation frequencies between DVL and USBL, a sequential filter was proposed to update the extended Kalman filter. Finally, through selecting the sensor equipment and conducting two lake experiments with total voyages of 5.02 km and 3.2 km, respectively, the correctness and practicality of the system were confirmed by the results. By comparing the output of the integrated navigation system and the data of RTK GPS, the average position error was 4.12 m, the maximum position error was 8.53 m, the average velocity error was 0.027 m/s and the average yaw error was 1.41°, whose precision is as high as that of an optical fiber gyroscope and Doppler Velocity Log integrated navigation system, but the price is less than half of that. The experimental results show that the proposed underwater integrated navigation system could realize the high-precision and long-term navigation of AUV in the designated area, which had great potential for both military and civilian applications.

ABSTRACT A sensitive and quantitative fluorescence-based approach is presented for characterizing fatty acid acquisition and lipid biosynthesis by asexually replicating, intraerythrocytic Plasmodium falciparum. We show that a BODIPY-containing, green-fluorescent fatty acid analog is efficiently and rapidly incorporated into parasite neutral lipids and phospholipids. Prelabeling with a red-fluorescent ceramide analog permits normalization and enables reliable quantitation of glycerolipid labeling. Inhibition of lipid labeling by competition with natural fatty acids and by acyl-coenzyme A synthetase and diacylglycerol acyltransferase inhibitors demonstrates that the fluorescent fatty acid probe is acquired, activated, and transferred to lipids through physiologically-relevant pathways. To assess its utility in discovering small molecules that block parasite lipid biosynthesis, the lipid labeling assay was used to screen a panel of mammalian lipase inhibitors and a selection of compounds from the “Malaria Box” anti-malarial collection. Several compounds were identified that inhibited the incorporation of the fluorescent fatty acid probe into lipids in cultured parasites at low micromolar concentrations. Two contrasting profiles of suppression of neutral lipid and phospholipid synthesis were observed, which implies the inhibition of distinct pathways. IMPORTANCE The human malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum relies on fatty acid scavenging to supply this essential precursor of lipid synthesis during its asexual replication cycle in human erythrocytes. This dependence on host fatty acids represents a potential vulnerability that can be exploited to develop new anti-malarial therapies. The quantitative experimental approach described here provides a platform for simultaneously interrogating multiple facets of lipid metabolism- fatty acid uptake, fatty acyl-CoA synthesis, and neutral lipid and phospholipid biosynthesis- and of identifying cell-permeable inhibitors that are active in situ.

Abstract Urea oxidation reaction (UOR) with a low equilibrium potential offers a promising route to replace the oxygen evolution reaction for energy‐saving hydrogen generation. However, the overpotential of the UOR is still high due to the complicated 6e− transfer process and adsorption/desorption of intermediate products. Herein, utilizing a cation exchange strategy, Ni‐doped CuO nanoarrays grown on 3D Cu foam are synthesized. Notably, Ni‐CuO NAs/CF requires a low potential of 1.366 V versus a reversible hydrogen electrode to drive a current density of 100 mA cm−2, outperforming various benchmark electrocatalysts and maintaining robust stability in alkaline media. Theoretical and experimental studies reveal that Ni as the driving force center can effectively enhance the urea adsorption and stabilize CO*/NH* intermediates toward the UOR. These findings suggest a new direction for constructing nanostructures and modulating electronic structures, ultimately developing promising Cu‐based electrode catalysts.

Abstract Fusarium wilt disease, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cubense (Foc), has been recognized as the most devastating disease to banana. The regulatory role of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in plant defense has been verified in many plant species. However, the understanding of their role during early FocTR4 (Foc tropical race 4) infection stage is very limited. In this study, lncRNA sequencing was used to reveal banana root transcriptome profile changes during early FocTR4 infection stages. Quantitative real time PCR (qRT-PCR) was performed to confirm the expression of eight differentially expressed (DE) lncRNAs (DELs) and their predicted target genes (DETs), and three DE genes (DEGs). Totally, 12,109 lncRNAs, 36,519 mRNAs and 2642 novel genes were obtained, of which 1398 (including 78 DELs, 1220 DE known genes and 100 DE novel genes) were identified as FocTR4 responsive DE transcripts. Gene function analysis revealed that most DEGs were involved in biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, plant–pathogen interaction, plant hormone signal transduction, phenylalanine metabolism, phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, alpha-linolenic acid metabolism and so on. Coincidently, many DETs have been identified as DEGs in previous transcriptome studies. Moreover, many DETs were found to be involved in ribosome, oxidative phosphorylation, lipoic acid metabolism, ubiquitin mediated proteolysis, N-glycan biosynthesis, protein processing in endoplasmic reticulum and DNA damage response pathways. QRT-PCR result showed the expression patterns of the selected transcripts were mostly consistent with our lncRNA sequencing data. Our present study showed the regulatory role of lncRNAs on known biotic and abiotic stress responsive genes and some new-found FocTR4 responsive genes, which can provide new insights into FocTR4-induced changes in the banana root transcriptome during the early pathogen infection stage.

Abstract The LOX genes have been identified and characterized in many plant species, but studies on the banana LOX genes are very limited. In this study, we respectively identified 18 MaLOX, 11 MbLOX, and 12 MiLOX genes from the Musa acuminata, M. balbisiana and M. itinerans genome data, investigated their gene structures and characterized the physicochemical properties of their encoded proteins. Banana LOXs showed a preference for using and ending with G/C and their encoded proteins can be classified into 9-LOX, Type I 13-LOX and Type II 13-LOX subfamilies. The expansion of the MaLOXs might result from the combined actions of genome-wide, tandem, and segmental duplications. However, tandem and segmental duplications contribute to the expansion of MbLOXs. Transcriptome data based gene expression analysis showed that MaLOX1, 4, and 7 were highly expressed in fruit and their expression levels were significantly regulated by ethylene. And 11, 12 and 7 MaLOXs were found to be low temperature-, high temperature-, and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. Cubense tropical race 4 (FocTR4)-responsive, respectively. MaLOX8, 9 and 13 are responsive to all the three stresses, MaLOX4 and MaLOX12 are high temperature- and FocTR4-responsive; MaLOX6 and MaLOX17 are significantly induced by low temperature and FocTR4; and the expression of MaLOX7 and MaLOX16 are only affected by high temperature. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis revealed that the expression levels of several MaLOXs are regulated by MeJA and FocTR4, indicating that they can increase the resistance of banana by regulating the JA pathway. Additionally, the weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) of MaLOXs revealed 3 models respectively for 5 (MaLOX7-11), 3 (MaLOX6, 13, and 17), and 1 (MaLOX12) MaLOX genes. Our findings can provide valuable information for the characterization, evolution, diversity and functionality of MaLOX, MbLOX and MiLOX genes and are helpful for understanding the roles of LOXs in banana growth and development and adaptations to different stresses.

In order to improve the security and compliance of physical human-robot interaction (pHRI), an adaptive fuzzy impedance control for robotic manipulators based on finite-time command filtered method is proposed in this paper. Firstly, robots usually encounter system uncertainties in practical applications, and the adaptive fuzzy control is introduced to approximate the system uncertainties. Secondly, the finite-time control method is used to improve the interaction performance of the system. Then, the command filtered control technique is used to deal with the “computational complexity ” of traditional backstepping. Finally, simulations are conducted to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control method in physical human-robot interaction.

This paper proposes an adaptive fuzzy observer-based command filtered discrete-time control method for permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) with input constraint. First, the rotor angular velocity is estimated by using an adaptive fuzzy observer and the unknown nonlinear function is approximated by using fuzzy logic systems (FLSs) in the PMSMs drive systems. Then, compared with the traditional backstepping method, command filtered backstepping method is developed to solve the “complexity of computation” problem. It is shown that all signals of the closed-loop system are semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded. Finally, the results of the simulation and experiment demonstrate that the new design method can fully consider the influence of input constraint and load disturbance, and improve the tracking performance for PMSMs drive systems.

Abstract Rechargeable sodium metal batteries (SMBs) have emerged as promising alternatives to commercial Li‐ion batteries because of the natural abundance and low cost of sodium resources. However, the overuse of metallic sodium in conventional SMBs limits their energy densities and leads to severe safety concerns. Herein, we propose a sodium‐free‐anode SMB (SFA‐SMB) configuration consisting of a sodium‐rich Na superionic conductor‐structured cathode and a bare Al/C current collector to address the above challenges. Sodiated Na3V2(PO4)3 in the form of Na5V2(PO4)3 was investigated as a cathode to provide a stable and controllable sodium source in the SFA‐SMB. It provides not only remarkable Coulombic efficiencies of Na plating/stripping cycles but also a highly reversible three‐electron redox reaction within 1.0–3.8 V versus Na/Na+ confirmed by structural/electrochemical measurements. Consequently, an ultrahigh energy density of 400 Wh kg−1 was achieved for the SFA‐SMB with fast Na storage kinetics and impressive capacity retention of 93% after 130 cycles. A narrowed voltage window (3.0–3.8 V vs. Na/Na+) further increased the lifespan to over 300 cycles with a high retained specific energy of 320 Wh kg−1. Therefore, the proposed SFA‐SMB configuration opens a new avenue for fabricating next‐generation batteries with high energy densities and long lifetimes.

Background: Elderly adults with atrial fibrillation (AF) are at increased risk of frailty and thromboembolic complications. However, studies on the prevalence of frailty in AF patients and data on the relationship between frailty and the use of anticoagulants are limited. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study involving 500 participants. Patients aged 65 years or older were consecutively selected from the Chinese Atrial Fibrillation Registry study. The patient’s frailty status was assessed with use of the Canadian Study of Health and Aging Clinical Frailty Scale. We assessed the prevalence of and factors associated with frailty, and how frailty affects anticoagulant therapy. Results: In 500 elderly adults with AF (age 75.2±6.7 years; 51.6% female), 201 patients (40.2%) were frail. The prevalence of frailty was higher in females (P=0.002) and increased with age and CHA 2 DS 2 -VASc score (P for trend less than 0.001 for both). The factors associated with frailty were a history of heart failure (odds ratio [OR] 2.40, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.39–4.14), female sex (OR 2.09, 95% CI 1.27–3.43), and advanced age (OR 1.13, 95% CI 1.09–1.17). Reversible protonic ceramic cells (RePCCs) are limited by several factors, including high cost, poor stability, and insufficient fuel electrode activity toward fuel oxidization/generation reactions. Herein, a novel Ni−Fe metal‐supported RePCC (MS‐RePCC) to address these issues simultaneously is proposed. Specifically, the Ni−Fe support possesses good mechanical strength and thermal compatibility with cermet‐based electrodes/electrolytes, ensuring a facile cell fabrication and robust durability. Density functional theory calculations suggest that Fe in the Ni−Fe support enhances the fuel electrode functional layer by providing additional and more active sites for the electrocatalytic reactions. The as‐fabricated MS‐RePCC at 700 °C achieves an excellent peak power density (PPD) of 586 mW cm−2 and an electrolysis current of −428 mA cm−2 (at 1.3 V). Furthermore, the cell is exceptionally stable, as evidenced by 930 h of fuel cell operation with ultralow degradation (≈0.78% kh−1), and much better than an analogous anode‐supported cell (≈17.78% kh−1). In addition, the cell is stable for 50 h of reversible fuel cell/electrolyzer cycling, further demonstrating the potential of this MS‐RePCC. This article proposes a simple and new approach to enhance the electrochemical activity and durability of RePCC, thereby accelerating the commercialization of this technology.

Summary: Using quasi-solid electrolytes (QSEs) can make lithium metal batteries (LMBs) considerably safer. However, formulating QSEs with rate capabilities rivaling those of liquid electrolytes is extremely difficult. Herein, we develop a QSE characterized by safety, high conductivity above 2 × 10−3 S cm−1, and high lithium-ion transference number (tLi+) above 0.8. Computations and experiments reveal that these characteristics are achieved by adjusting the Li+ solvation through a weak interaction with the polymer skeleton and strong coordination with NO3−. The further inclusion of fluoroethylene carbonate leads to the formation of a Li3N- and LiF-rich solid electrolyte interphase on the lithium metal. Consequently, QSE-based LMBs are capable of fast charging and high-power density, as well as stable and long cycling. By adjusting Li+ solvation and lithium metal stability, this work rationally develops QSEs for fast-charging LMBs.

Over the last decade, exsolution has emerged as a powerful new method for decorating oxide supports with uniformly dispersed nanoparticles for energy and catalytic applications. Due to their exceptional anchorage, resilience to various degradation mechanisms, as well as numerous ways in which they can be produced, transformed and applied, exsolved nanoparticles have set new standards for nanoparticles in terms of activity, durability and functionality. In conjunction with multifunctional supports such as perovskite oxides, exsolution becomes a powerful platform for the design of advanced energy materials. In the following sections, we review the current status of the exsolution approach, seeking to facilitate transfer of ideas between different fields of application. We also explore future directions of research, particularly noting the multi-scale development required to take the concept forward, from fundamentals through operando studies to pilot scale demonstrations.

Whether for institutional investors or individual investors, there is an urgent need to explore autonomous models that can adapt to the non-stationary, low-signal-to-noise markets. This research aims to explore the two unique challenges in quantitative portfolio management: (1) the difficulty of representation and (2) the complexity of environments. In this research, we suggest a Markov decision process model-based deep reinforcement learning model including deep learning methods to perform strategy optimization, called SwanTrader. To achieve better decisions of the portfolio-management process from two different perspectives, i.e., the temporal patterns analysis and robustness information capture based on market observations, we suggest an optimal deep learning network in our model that incorporates a stacked sparse denoising autoencoder (SSDAE) and a long–short-term-memory-based autoencoder (LSTM-AE). The findings in times of COVID-19 show that the suggested model using two deep learning models gives better results with an alluring performance profile in comparison with four standard machine learning models and two state-of-the-art reinforcement learning models in terms of Sharpe ratio, Calmar ratio, and beta and alpha values. Furthermore, we analyzed which deep learning models and reward functions were most effective in optimizing the agent’s management decisions. The results of our suggested model for investors can assist in reducing the risk of investment loss as well as help them to make sound decisions.

This paper presents a performance improvement potential analysis of a booster-assisted ejector refrigeration system. Both conventional and advanced exergy analysis methods are used to obtain detailed information about the interactions among system components and the real improvement potential of the system. The results show that 61.6% of the system exergy destruction is caused by the components themselves. Furthermore, 55.5% of the overall exergy destruction can be avoided by improving component efficiencies. The ejector has the highest improvement priority, followed by the booster and the condenser. The influences of operational conditions on the ejector performance are also discussed. The avoidable exogenous part in ejector exergy destruction could be reduced by increasing the temperature of the motive flow, increasing the discharge pressure of the booster or decreasing the inlet water temperature in the condenser.

BaFeO3−δ-derived perovskites are promising cathodes for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells. The activity of these perovskites depends on the number of oxygen vacancies in their lattice, which can be tuned by cationic substitution. Our first-principle calculations show that Ag is a promising substitute for the Fe site, resulting in a reduced oxygen vacancy formation energy compared with the pristine BaFeO3−δ. Ag has limited solubility in perovskites, and its introduction generates an Ag metal secondary phase, which influences the cathode performances. In this work, we investigate the matter, using a Ba0.9La0.1Fe1−xAgxO3−δ series of materials as a case study. Acknowledging the limited solubility of Ag in Ba0.9La0.1Fe1−xAgxO3−δ, we aim to distinguish the effects of Ag substitution from those of the Ag secondary phase. We observed that Ag substitution increases the number of oxygen vacancies, confirming our calculations, and facilitates the oxygen incorporation. However, Ag substitution lowers the number of holes, in this way reducing the electronic p-type conductivity. On the other hand, Ag metal positively affects the electronic conductivity and helps the redistribution of the electronic charge at the cathode-electrolyte interface.

Recently, many control methods have been tried and applied in the Fusarium wilt disease control of banana and have achieved definite progresses. In this study, by using ‘Zhongjiao No.3’ and ‘Zhongjiao No.4’ banana seedlings as materials, the effects of Serendipita indica and bamboo fungus (Dictyophorae echinovolvata) culture substrates on the growth and Fusarium wilt disease resistance of banana were investigated. Results showed that the plant height, leaf length, leaf width, root length and root thickness, aboveground part fresh weight, root fresh weight, and relative chlorophyll content and nitrogen content in leaves of banana seedlings colonized with S. indica were all greater than those of non-colonized controls, while these parameters of banana seedlings grown in nutrient soil containing D. echinovolvata culture substrates were significantly suppressed. Both S. indica non-colonized and colonized seedlings cultivated in nutrient containing 1/4 D. echinovolvata culture substrates showed much milder symptoms compared with those cultivated in normal nutrient soil, indicating that the addition of bamboo fungus substrates to the soil can enhance the Fusarium wilt resistance of banana. The results obtained in this study can provide a basis for the application of S. indica and bamboo fungus in the prevention and control of banana Fusarium wilt disease.

Accumulated evidence has revealed the mitigation effects of exogenous melatonin on cold stress in plants. In this study, to investigate the defensive roles of exogenous melatonin in banana under cold stress, we researched the influences of exogenous melatonin on the chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, antioxidant defense indexes and expression levels of cold-responsive genes in cold-stressed ‘Brazil’ banana seedlings. Results showed that 100 μM of exogenous melatonin achieved the best cold-resistance-promoting effect in banana. Exogenous melatonin treatment significantly increased the electron transfer rate, light harvesting efficiency, total antioxidant capacity, catalase and superoxidase activities and proline and soluble sugar contents and significantly reduced the accumulations of malondialdehyde, superoxide anion and hydrogen peroxide in the leaves of cold-stressed banana. In addition, under cold stress, melatonin significantly induced the expression of low-temperature-responsive genes, such as MaChiI1, MaCSD1C, MaWhy1, MaKIN10, MaADA1 and MaHOS1. It was concluded that the application of exogenous melatonin enhanced antioxidant defense and induced the expression of cold-responsive genes, thereby improving the cold resistance of banana. Our study will provide a basis for the application of exogenous melatonin in improving plant cold resistance.

ABSTRACT Dysbiotic gut microbiota (GM) and disordered metabolic patterns are known to be involved in the clinical expression of atrial fibrillation (AF). However, little evidence has been reported in characterizing the specific changes in fecal microbiota in paroxysmal AF (PAF) and persistent AF (psAF). To provide a comprehensive understanding of GM dysbiosis in AF types, we assessed the GM signatures of 30 PAF patients, 20 psAF patients, and 50 non-AF controls based on metagenomic and metabolomic analyses. Compared with control subjects, similar changes of GM were identified in PAF and psAF patients, with elevated microbial diversity and similar alteration in the microbiota composition. PAF and psAF patients shared the majority of differential taxa compared with non-AF controls. Moreover, the similarity was also illuminated in microbial function and associated metabolic alterations. Additionally, minor disparity was observed in PAF compared with psAF. Several distinctive taxa between PAF and psAF were correlated with certain metabolites and atrial diameter, which might play a role in the pathogenesis of atrial remodeling. Our findings characterized the presence of many common features in GM shared by PAF and psAF, which occurred at the self-terminating PAF. Preventative and therapeutic measures targeting GM for early intervention to postpone the progression of AF are highly warranted. IMPORTANCE Atrial fibrillation has been identified to be associated with disordered gut microbiota. Notably, atrial fibrillation is a progressive disease and could be categorized as paroxysmal and persistent based on the duration of the episodes. The persistent atrial fibrillation patients are accompanied by higher risk of stroke and lower success rate of rhythm control. However, the microbial signatures of different categories of atrial fibrillation patients remain unknown. We sought to determine whether disordered gut microbiota occurs in the self-terminating PAF or intestinal flora develops dynamically during atrial fibrillation progression. We found that different types of atrial fibrillation show a limited degree of gut microbiota shift. Gut microbiota dysbiosis has already occurred in mild stages of atrial fibrillation, which might act as an early modulator of disease, and therefore may be regarded as a potential target to postpone atrial fibrillation progression.

Objective: High-resolution ultrasonography (HRUS) has been used recently to characterize median and ulnar nerves but is seldom used to characterize the lower extremity nerves. The reference standard for normal the lower extremity nerves has not been established. Thus, this study measured the cross-sectional areas (CSAs) of the sciatic nerve of 200 healthy male or female volunteers, aged 18–80 using HRUS. These data provide basic clinical data for the use of high-resolution ultrasound for the future diagnosis, treatment, and prognostic evaluation of peripheral neuropathies. Methods: Two hundred healthy volunteers with 400 lower extremities were studied with HRUS. According to their age, the subjects were assigned to young group (18-30 years, n = 75), middle group. (31-60 years, n = 70), and old group(61-80 year, n = 55).Age, sex, height, weight were recorded and CSAs of sciatic nerve were obtained at every predetermined sites. Results: The mean CSAs of sciatic nerves at GS and MGPF were 0.527 ± 0.028 cm2 and 0.444 ± 0.026 cm2 respectively. Pearson's correlation analysis showed that the mean CSAs were correlated with height and weight. There was no difference in mean CSAs among the three groups (P > 0.05). Women had smaller CSAs of the normal Sciatic nerves than men in two measuring sites (GS, MGPF) (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Peripheral nerve ultrasonography is a reliable and reproducible diagnostic method in the hands of experienced examiners. Normal values for the sciatic nerve nerves are provided by our study. Thus, reference values of Sciatic nerve CSA of the lower extremity can facilitate the analysis of abnormal nerve conditions.

Basic helix-loop-helix proteins (bHLHs) play very important roles in the anthocyanin biosynthesis of many plant species. However, the reports on blueberry anthocyanin biosynthesis-related bHLHs were very limited. In this study, six anthocyanin biosynthesis-related bHLHs were identified from blueberry genome data through homologous protein sequence alignment. Among these blueberry bHLHs, VcAN1, VcbHLH42-1, VcbHLH42-2 and VcbHLH42-3 were clustered into one group, while VcbHLH1-1 and VcbHLH1-2 were clustered into the other group. All these bHLHs were of the bHLH-MYC_N domain, had DNA binding sites and reported conserved amino acids in the bHLH domain, indicating that they were all G-box binding proteins. Protein subcellular location prediction result revealed that all these bHLHs were nucleus-located. Gene structure analysis showed that VcAN1 gDNA contained eight introns, while all the others contained seven introns. Many light-, phytohormone-, stress- and plant growth and development-related cis-acting elements and transcription factor binding sites (TFBSs) were identified in their promoters, but the types and numbers of cis-elements and TFBSs varied greatly between the two bHLH groups. Quantitative real-time PCR results showed that VcAN1 expressed highly in old leaf, stem and blue fruit, and its expression increased as the blueberry fruit ripened. Its expression in purple podetium and old leaf was respectively significantly higher than in green podetium and young leaf, indicating that VcAN1 plays roles in anthocyanin biosynthesis regulation not only in fruit but also in podetium and leaf. VcbHLH1-1 expressed the highest in young leaf and stem, and the lowest in green fruit. The expression of VcbHLH1-1 also increased as the fruit ripened, and its expression in blue fruit was significantly higher than in green fruit. VcbHLH1-2 showed high expression in stem but low expression in fruit, especially in red fruit. Our study indicated that the anthocyanin biosynthesis regulatory functions of these bHLHs showed certain spatiotemporal specificity. Additionally, VcAN1 might be a key gene controlling the anthocyanin biosynthesis in blueberry, whose function is worth exploring further for its potential applications in plant high anthocyanin breeding.

A leaf blight disease with an incidence level of about 50% was found on Robusta banana in Guangdong province of China in September 2020. The early symptom appeared as pale gray to black brown, irregular, small, necrotic lesions mainly on the top 3–5 leaves. Severely infected leaves were withered and necrotic. Two representative fungus strains, strain L1 and strain L2, were isolated from affected banana leaves, and morphological and molecular identification analysis confirmed that the two fungi were both Alternaria jacinthicola. Many Alternaria species have been reported to cause wilting, decay, leaf blight and leaf spots on plants and lead to serious economic losses in their production, including A. alternata, causing leaf blight and leaf sport diseases on banana. The Koch’s postulates of A. jacinthicola causing the leaf blight disease was further fulfilled, which confirmed that it is the causal agent of this disease. To our knowledge, this is the first report of A. jacinthicola causing leaf blight on banana in China.

The cryogenic treatment is used to reduce the large amount of retained austenite in the steel infiltration layer which affects the hardness. The vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and direct reading spectroscopy are combined to compare and analyze the organization structure status of the test carburizing steel after air-cooling and low temperature tempering (T) at 453 K × 1 h, or after cryogenic treatment at 113 K × 30 min and low temperature tempering (T) at 453 K × 1 h. The cryopreservation effect of the 1 203 K × 9 h carburizing air-cooled bainitic steel is carried out. The results show that both the effective hardening layer depths are about 1.35 mm. The retained austenite mass fractions of T and CT in the effective hardened layer are approximately 29.8% and 12.6%, respectively, and the highest hardnesses of the effective hardened layer of T and CT are 679 HV and 821 HV, respectively. The matrix structure is lath bainite, and the retained austenite mass fractions in the matrix are approximately 7.4% for T and 6.9% for CT, respectively, and both the hardnesses of the matrixes are approximately 430 HV. After the cryogenic treatment, the austenite content in the infiltration layer is effectively reduced, so that the maximum hardness of the hardened layer increases by 20% or more. It can be widely used because of the decreased material cost and remarkable economical benefit.

Using coating on the hot forming steel can effectively avoid the surface defects such as surface oxidation and decarburization in the thermoforming process, and make the workpiece have a certain degree of corrosion resistance after molding. This paper studies the effect of the variation of microstructure and heat treatment process in the heating process of 22MnB5 hot forming steel with Zn plating layer on coating microstructure and properties. The microstructure and morphology of 22MnB5 with zinc based coatings by different pre-alloying and austenitizing technology are analyzed by SEM, EDS, and glow spectrum analyzer. The results show that under the same pre-alloying time, with the temperature improved, the coating's phases change from ζ phase, δ phase, Γ1 phase and Γ phase to mainly Γ phase; under the same temperature, as the pre-alloying process time goes by, the contents of Fe gradually increases but Zn decreases, finally the Fe content could reach 88%, and Zn reaches 8% in the coating; the coating is almost all α-Fe (Zn) with only a small amount of Γ phase on the surface, and the thickness of the coating is about 12 μm; high quality coatings could be obtained under the pre-alloying process of heating at 550 ℃ for 30 min and austenitizing at 920 ℃ for 4 min. The result provides important reference for developing new hot forming steel coating.

The temperature distribution of the submarine cable is an important parameter during the operation. In order to lift the efficiency of heat dissipation during the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cable thermal cycling test, this study presents a method of cooling the cable using a cooling pipe with circulating water. A three-dimensional mode based on the thermal-fluid coupled model was established for 500 kV HVDC submarine cable by using finite element simulation software COMSOL Multiphysics and Fluent. The temperature field distribution and carrying ampacity of the HVDC submarine cables were analysed and compared under two cooling modes including bipolar double pipe and bipolar single pipe. The results indicate that both cooling modes can lift the current carrying ampacity of the cable; the bipolar double tube cooling mode performs better in cooling, a tiny circulating water velocity can significantly reduce the temperature of the submarine cable. Thus both suitable cooling mode and circulating water velocity were determined to accelerate the heat dissipation of the submarine cable during the thermal cycling test.

This study aims to deeply understand the effect of contact stress and slip ratio on wear performances of bainitic rail steels. The results showed that the wear loss increased as the contact stress and slip ratio increased. Based on the surface damage morphology and microstructural analyses, it revealed that the rolling contact fatigue wear mechanism played a significant role under the low slip ratio, but the dominant wear mechanism transferred to the abrasive wear at the high slip ratio. Meanwhile, the bainitic steel specifically presented worse wear resistance under the abrasive wear mode. Compared with the influence of a slip ratio, the increase in contact stress led to severer plastic flows and contributed to the propagation of cracks. In addition, the contact stress and slip ratio had the opposite effect on the friction coefficient, that is, the friction coefficient of bainitic steels behaved the inverse proportion with the contact stress, but positive proportion with the slip ratio. At last, the increase in slip ratio had more significant effect on the reduction of retained austenite (RA) than the enlargement of contact stress due to the fact that the RA would probably be removed before the martensitic transformation occurred under the abrasive wear mechanism.

Introns exist not only in coding sequences (CDSs) but also in untranslated regions (UTRs) of a gene. Recent studies in animals and model plants such as Arabidopsis have revealed that the UTR-introns (UIs) are widely presented in most genomes and involved in regulation of gene expression or RNA stability. In the present study, we identified introns at both 5′UTRs (5UIs) and 3′UTRs (3UIs) of sweet orange genes, investigated their size and nucleotide distribution characteristics, and explored the distribution of cis-elements in the UI sequences. Functional category of genes with predicted UIs were further analyzed using GO, KEGG, and PageMan enrichment. In addition, the organ-dependent splicing and abundance of selected UI-containing genes in root, leaf, and stem were experimentally determined. Totally, we identified 825 UI- and 570 3UI-containing transcripts, corresponding to 617 and 469 genes, respectively. Among them, 74 genes contain both 5UI and 3UI. Nucleotide distribution analysis showed that 5UI distribution is biased at both ends of 5′UTR whiles 3UI distribution is biased close to the start site of 3′UTR. Cis- elements analysis revealed that 5UI and 3UI sequences were rich of promoter-enhancing related elements, indicating that they might function in regulating the expression through them. Function enrichment analysis revealed that genes containing 5UI are significantly enriched in the RNA transport pathway. While, genes containing 3UI are significantly enriched in splicesome. Notably, many pentatricopeptide repeat-containing protein genes and the disease resistance genes were identified to be 3UI-containing. RT-PCR result confirmed the existence of UIs in the eight selected gene transcripts whereas alternative splicing events were found in some of them. Meanwhile, qRT-PCR result showed that UIs were differentially expressed among organs, and significant correlation was found between some genes and their UIs, for example: The expression of VPS28 and its 3UI was significantly negative correlated. This is the first report about the UIs in sweet orange from genome-wide level, which could provide evidence for further understanding of the role of UIs in gene expression regulation.

A portion of dodecyl amine (DDA) in a muscovite flotation system was replaced with alcohols with different carbon-chain lengths. These alcohols included octanol (OCT); decanol (DEC); dodecanol (DOD); and tetradecanol (TER). The muscovite adsorption behavior of the mixed DDA and alcohol systems were investigated through zeta potential; contact angle; and adsorption quantity tests. Single-mineral flotation tests showed that the muscovite-collecting power of the mixed DDA/alcohol (OCT, DEC, or DOD) system was stronger than that of the pure DDA system. The muscovite-collecting power of the collector systems decreased in the following order: DDA/DEC > DDA/OCT > DDA/DEC > DDA > DDA/TER. Zeta potential and contact angle analysis indicated that when combined with DDA; alcohols physically adsorbed on the surfaces of muscovite. This behavior improved the hydrophobicity of muscovite. Furthermore, adsorption analysis revealed that synergy between DDA and alcohol enhanced the adsorption of alcohol on muscovite. DDA has a dominant role in synergistic adsorption; whereas alcohol has a supporting role. Among all tested alcohols; DDA and DOD exhibit the highest synergetic adsorption effect because of their similar carbon-chain lengths. This similarity promotes the formation of a compact adsorption layer on the muscovite surface.

Since the proposal of the concept of semi-solid flow batteries (SSFBs), SSFBs have gained increased attention as an alternative for large-scale energy storage applications. As a new type of high energy density flow battery system, lithium-ion semi-solid flow batteries (Li-SSFBs) combine the features of both flow batteries and lithium-ion batteries and show the advantages of decoupling power and capacity. Moreover, Li-SSFBs typically can achieve much higher energy density while maintaining a lower cost. Therefore, Li-SSFBs are some of the most promising technologies for future energy storage. Despite these advantages, a significant gap towards the commercialization of Li-SSFBs still exists. In this article, we have reviewed the research progress of Li-SSFBs in aqueous and non-aqueous systems in recent years. We have further discussed the future research trends and application prospects of Li-SSFBs, providing guidelines for future research in this area. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
