In an increasingly complex global context, Chinese tourist green behaviors and their face-culture have attracted growing academic attention. The interactions among tourists play a critical role in influencing actions, yet little is known about the influence of Chinese tourists’ encounters on their green behavior. To address the literature gap, this research examined how tourist-to-tourist interactions within different relationships impact on-site green behavior in Chinese face-culture tourism settings. Based on a qualitative research approach using the critical incident technique, 76 incidents were investigated involving 29 Chinese tourists with different backgrounds. This research showed that the encounters among tourists were affected by tourists’ relationships (family, friends, and strangers) and Chinese face culture (the desire to gain and fear of losing face). The results contribute to the sustainable tourism literature by taking into consideration various types of social interactions, which positively or negatively affect green behavior. Fresh insights are revealed on how face consciousness influences Chinese social interactions and pro-environmental behavior in tourism. The analysis of social interactions among tourists provides a new perspective for destination management organizations to enhance green behavior and improve sustainable management practices.

In recent years, traditional tooth Chromaticity detection technology has been unable to meet the needs of intelligence and efficiency. In this paper, we propose a spiking neural network model for tooth chromaticity detection. First, a training method of Tempotron supervised learning rules combined with linear decay weight momentum is proposed. Aiming at different training stages, the process of the network weight update is improved. Second, a data set specifically for tooth chromaticity detection is established. According to the common dental chromatic lesions in clinical dentistry, such as fluorosis and tetracycline teeth, the chromaticity of teeth is divided into four categories. Experimental results using self-built datasets show that the task accuracy of the network is as high as 96.67%, and the convergence speed of the network has also been significantly improved.

Tourists’ green behavior has recently attracted much academic interest. The majority of the existing studies use quantitative research methods and explore how tourists’ cognitive and emotional factors influence their environmental actions. This study assesses tourists' green behavior from a unique perspective, that is, how hosts at rural Chinese B&Bs interact with tourists and shape their sustainable actions. The research team analyzed why the rural hosts are motivated to promote tourists’ green behavior, and identified the strategies they pursue to convince the tourists to be more sustainable. Guzhu Village, well known for its rural tourism and popular with senior tourists in the Yangtze River Delta, was the site for the study. Auto-ethnography was used as the key research method. It was found that both tangible and intangible environmental benefits motivate the hosts to guide tourists’ sustainable behavior. Hosts specifically structure some leisure activities and use compelling signage to both promote positive environmental actions and simultaneously enhance tourists’ satisfaction. This is the first study to emphasize the active roles of the hosts in shaping tourists’ green behavior through dynamic social interaction. The findings highlight the processes, such as humor and social approval, which have broad international applicability. Further, it was noted that the hosts employ ‘face’, a distinctive Chinese concept, to limit tourists’ less-desirable behaviors. Practical implications are also offered for sustainable destination management.

Spiking neural networks (SNNs) are artificial neural network models that are closely mimic natural neural networks. LIF (Leaky Integrate-and-fire) neuron model, population coding and Tempotron supervised learning rules are used to construct a spiking neural network for visual color feature classification based on RGB-HSV (Red, Green, Blue -Hue, Saturation, Value) model. The product of a momentum learning rate and the last weight change is proposed to speed up the training of the SNN. Test results based on a common data set show that the accuracy of the SNN can be up to 90%.

The effects of reactive compatibilization on morphology, mechanical properties, rheological behavior, and dynamically mechanical behavior of high-density polyethylene (HDPE>)/CaCO3, HDPE/STC (a mixture of sericit, tridymite, and cristobalite), and HDPE/illite were studied through scanning electron microscopy, DMTA, and mechanical and melt rheological properties tests. The experimental results show that the presence of a small amount of ethylene–acrylic acid copolymer (EAA) results in a large increase of yield strength of HDPE/CaCO3, HDPE/STC, and HDPE/illite and a slight increase of their viscosity, as well as enhancement of the γ relaxation peak of HDPE and corresponding temperature shifts to higher temperature. The yield strength and impact strength of HDPE/illite (80/20) increase by 18% and 160%, respectively, in the presence of 1 wt% EAA. These are due to the interface enhancement of HDPE/fillers through the reaction of the carboxylic acid group in EAA with fillers.

A sub-microsecond pulse generation applied for electroporation effects of tumor cell is presented in this paper. The principle of the generator is that the expected pulse waveform is intercepted from the RC discharge curve by controlling the on-off states of two IGBT modules with a synchronous controller. Experimental tests indicate that the generator can produce adjustable pulse waveform parameters with 0.5-3.5kV amplitude, 300-800 ns pulse duration, 1-400Hz repetition frequency rate, and it is suitable for the study of the electroporation effect experiments.

Combining with new light-controlled high-power photoconductive semiconductor switch device and sub-nanosecond monocycle pulse produced by Blumlein pulse forming line, we design a new high-voltage electromagnetic pulse radiation system potentially applied in the high-voltage electromagnetic pulse radiation-induced apoptosis system. Simulation results show that the system can generate and radiate a monocycle pulse with 500ps duration; the bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 0.255GHZ-1.13GHz when the S11 less than −10dB. By adding a dielectric lens, the amplitude value doubled compared with no additional dielectric lens, spot area reduced to 1/7.

A computer-controlled adjustable nanosecond pulse generator based on high-voltage MOSFET is designed in this paper, which owns stable performance and miniaturization profile of 32×30×7 cm3. The experiment results show that the pulser can generate electrical pulse with Gaussian rising time of 20 nanosecond, section-adjustable index falling time of 40–200 nanosecond, continuously adjustable repitition frequency of 0–5 kHz, quasi-continuously adjustable amplitude of 0–1 kV at 50 Ω load. A CPW-fed compact printed monopole antenna with quad-band notched characteristics is presented in this paper. The antenna design adopts a square patch with matching step. By etching a slot and a split ring resonantor (S-SRR) on the patch, employing a rectangular complementary split ring resonantor (CSRR) in each side of the ground plane, embedding a pair of open-circuit slots neighbouring the CSRR, quad-band filtering properties in the WiMAX, WLAN and 8GHz for X-band satellite communication systems are achieved. The results show that the designed antenna, with compact size of 31 × 31 mm2, has an impedance bandwidth of 2.8–11.4 GHz for VSWR less than 2, except four frequency stop-bands of 3.3–3.6, 5.0–5.4, 5.7–6.0 and 7.6–8.6 GHz. Moreover, the antenna has good omnidirectional radiation patterns in the H-plane, and the radiation patterns in the E-plane are like a small dipole leading to bidirectional patterns.

To study the effect of inert dust on gas explosion suppression mechanism, SiO2 fine powders were sprayed to suppress premixed CH4-Air gas explosion in a 20 L spherical experimental system. In the experiment, high speed schlieren image system was adopted to record explosion flame propagation behaviors, meanwhile, pressure transducers and ion current probes were used to clearly record the explosion flame dynamic characteristics. The experimental results show that the SiO2 fine powders suppressed evidently the gas explosion flame, and reduced the peak value of pressure and flame speed by more than 40 %. The ion current result shows that the SiO2 super fine powders were easy to contact with and absorb free radicals near the combustion reaction region, which greatly reduced the combustion reaction intensity, and in turn influenced the flame propagation and pressure rising.

The parallel packet switch (PPS) attracts a lot of attention from the communications equipment vendors. However, a lack of the detailed analysis and understanding of the issues involved in congestion management has slowed down its recognition and deployment. We analyze the conditions of stable working for a PPS with buffered input demultiplexors. By comparing a PPS with a reference switch, we present a definition of stable working for the PPS architecture. The necessary and sufficient condition of stable working for a PPS is proposed and proved. Then we describe a family of dispatch algorithms for the PPS, and give the restriction of algorithms for guaranteeing stable working. Finally the minimum bound of PPS layers and core speedup are analyzed.

Presents an efficient approach which combines the finite element method (FEM), the mixed-potential integral equation method (MPIE) and the discrete complex image method (DCIM) for the analysis of inhomogeneous waveguides in layered media. In this approach, the inhomogeneous guiding core is modeled by the FEM based on the vector E-formulation and the layered media by the MPIE. The FEM and MPIE formulations are coupled by enforcing the continuity of the tangential fields across the surface of the guiding core. The spectral integrals that arise in layered media Green's functions are efficiently evaluated using the DCIM. Numerical results for the dispersion curves of dielectric waveguides in a homogeneous medium and on a grounded substrate are presented and compared with published results.
