Abstract Objective To study the effects of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) on cognitive functions, mental improvements, and adverse effects in patients with Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Methods Registered in INPLASY (INPLASY202450004), five drugs (citalopram, s-citalopram, quetiapine, olanzapine, and sertraline) were selected as representatives. A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library up to May 15, 2024. Search terms were combined using Boolean operators, specifically ‘AND’ between different categories (e.g., ‘Alzheimer’s Disease’ AND ‘SSRIs’) and ‘OR’ within the same category (e.g., ‘citalopram OR s-citalopram OR quetiapine OR olanzapine OR sertraline’), to ensure a thorough retrieval of relevant studies. The selection followed rigorous inclusion and exclusion criteria for meta-analysis. Results Fourteen articles from 1118 were selected for meta-analysis. The indicators, including Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI), Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS), and Cornell Scale for Depression in Dementia (CSDD), were used to assess the effects of the drugs on AD treatment. According to the results of NPI, CSDD, BPRS, MMSE, and security assessments, the five antidepressants have significant advantages in AD treatment compared with placebo, while the MMSE of the patient treated with the antidepressants did not show notable changes compared with patients treated only with placebo. Statistical analyses were conducted using Review Manager 5.3, employing random-effects models to account for study heterogeneity and sensitivity analyses to test the robustness of our findings. Conclusion This study suggests that SSRI-related antidepressants have great potential values in AD treatment, and further research on the application of SSRI-related antidepressants in AD treatment is necessary.

Abstract Lenvatinib, a multitarget kinase inhibitor, has been proven to be effective in the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma. It has been previously demonstrated that tumour associated macrophages (TAMs) in tumour tissues can promote HCC growth, invasion and metastasis. Furthermore, lenvatinib has certain immunomodulatory effects on the treatment of HCC. However, the role of lenvatinib in macrophage polarization during HCC treatment has not been fully explored. In this study, we used a variety of experimental methods both in vitro and in vivo to investigate the effect of lenvatinib on TAMs during HCC progression. This study is the first to show that lenvatinib can alter macrophage polarization in both humans and mice. Moreover, macrophages treated with lenvatinib in vitro displayed enhanced classically activated macrophages (M1) activity and suppressed liver cancer cell proliferation, invasion, and migration. Furthermore, during the progression of M1 macrophage polarization induced by lenvatinib, STAT-1 was the main target transcription factor, and inhibiting STAT-1 activity reversed the effect of lenvatinib. Overall, the present study provides a theoretical basis for the immunomodulatory function of lenvatinib in the treatment of HCC.

Abstract Background Males have accounted for a significant share of new HIV infections among young people in the recent years. This study aimed to identify the factors associated with risky sexual behaviors, including early sexual debut, multiple sexual partnership and condomless sex, among sexually active male college students and provide implications for tailored health interventions. Methods The cross-sectional study was conducted from December 2020 to December 2021 in 16 colleges that were located in Sichuan Province, one of the high-risk areas in China. Overall 1640 male college students who reported sexually experienced were analyzed in this study. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was applied to determine factors associated with early sexual debut, multiple sexual partnership and condomless sex. Results The average age of included male students was 19.95 ± 1.56. Of them, 27.74% initiated sexual behavior early, 48.60% reported multiple sexual partnership, and 16.52% did not use condoms at the latest sexual intercourse. Students who were younger (age ≤ 19, AOR = 7.60, 95%CI: 4.84–11.93; age20-21, AOR = 3.26, 95%CI: 2.04–5.21) and self-identified as sexual minorities (AOR = 2.38, 95%CI: 1.69–3.36) were more likely to have early sexual debut. The odds of having multiple sexual partners were higher among those who were ethnic minorities (AOR = 1.79, 95%CI: 1.33–2.41) and accepted extramarital sex (AOR = 1.33, 95%CI: 1.03–1.71). The likelihood of engaging in condomless sex at the latest sexual intercourse was lower among those who had sufficient knowledgeable about HIV (AOR = 0.63, 95%CI: 0.44–0.89), were very confident in condom use efficacy (AOR = 0.26, 95%CI: 0.16–0.43) and confident (AOR = 0.48, 95%CI: 0.34–0.69). Early sexual debut was positively associated with multiple sexual partnership (AOR = 3.64, 95%CI: 2.82–4.71) and condomless sex at the latest intercourse (AOR = 1.53, 95%CI: 1.07–2.20), respectively. Conclusion Early sexual debut, multiple sexual partnership and condomless sex were of considerable concern among male college students. Comprehensive sex education curricula were advised by developing customized information on HIV prevention, sexuality and empowering students with assertiveness and negotiation skills with regard to condom use during and before college.

Abstract The comprehensive understanding of propagation patterns of extreme precipitation events (EPEs) is essential for early warning of associated hazards such as floods and landslides. In this study, we utilize climate networks based on an event synchronization measure to investigate the propagation patterns of EPEs over the global land masses, and identify 16 major propagation pathways. We explain them in association with regional weather systems, topographic effects, and travelling Rossby wave patterns. We also demonstrate that the revealed propagation pathways carry substantial EPE predictability in certain areas, such as in the Appalachian, the Andes mountains. Our results help to improve the understanding of key propagation patterns of EPEs, where the global diversity of the propagated patterns of EPEs and corresponding potential predictability provide prior knowledge for predicting EPEs, and demonstrate the power of climate network approaches to study the spatiotemporal connectivity of extreme events in the climate system.

BackgroundAdolescent internet gaming disorder (IGD) was associated with severe harm, including suicidal ideation. While suicidal ideation was predictive of completed suicides, further research is required to clarify the association between IGD and suicidal ideation among adolescents, as well as the mechanisms involved. ObjectiveThis study aimed to investigate the understudied association between IGD and suicidal ideation, as well as novel mechanisms associated with it, among Chinese adolescent internet gamers through psychosocial coping resources and psychosocial problems. MethodsAn anonymous, self-administered, cross-sectional survey was conducted among secondary school students who had played internet games in the past year in Guangzhou and Chengdu, China (from October 2019 to January 2020). In total, 1693 adolescent internet gamers were included in this study; the mean age was 13.48 (SD 0.80) years, and 60% (n=1016) were males. IGD was assessed by the 9-item Internet Gaming Disorder Checklist of the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders [Fifth Edition]), while a single item assessed suicidal ideation: “Have you ever considered committing suicide in the past 12 months?” Univariate and multivariate logistic regression associations were conducted to test the significance and directions of the potential factors for suicidal ideation. The mediation mechanism was examined by structural equation modeling. ResultsAmong all participants, the prevalence of IGD and suicidal ideation was 16.95% (287/1693) and 43.06% (729/1693), respectively. IGD cases were 2.42 times more likely than non-IGD cases to report suicidal ideation (adjusted odds ratio [OR] 2.42, 95% CI 1.73-3.37). Other significant factors of suicidal ideation included psychosocial coping resources (resilience and social support, both adjusted OR 0.97, 95% CI 0.96-0.98) and psychosocial problems (social anxiety: adjusted OR 1.07, 95% CI 1.05-1.09; loneliness, adjusted OR 1.13, 95% CI 1.10-1.16). The association between IGD and suicidal ideation was partially mediated by 3 indirect paths, including (1) the 2-step path that IGD reduced psychosocial coping resources, which in turn increased suicidal ideation; (2) the 2-step path that IGD increased psychosocial problems, which in turn increased suicidal ideation; and (3) the 3-step path that IGD reduced psychosocial coping resources which then increased psychosocial problems, which in turn increased suicidal ideation, with effect sizes of 10.7% (indirect effect/total effect: 0.016/0.15), 30.0% (0.05/0.15), and 13.3% (0.02/0.15), respectively. The direct path remained statistically significant. ConclusionsIGD and suicidal ideation were alarmingly prevalent. Evidently and importantly, IGD was a significant risk factor for suicidal ideation. The association was partially explained by psychosocial coping resources of resilience and social support and psychosocial problems of social anxiety and loneliness. Longitudinal studies are needed to confirm the findings. Pilot randomized controlled trials are recommended to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions in reducing suicidal ideation by reducing IGD, improving psychosocial coping resources, and reducing psychosocial problems investigated in this study.

Communication is a core component of a clinician’s role; however, when clinicians conduct research, communicating the emerging findings and recommendations to different types of stakeholders can be unfamiliar territory. Communicating research to advocate for change can be even more challenging. Clinician researchers seeking to be agents for change need to conceive and craft specific, evidence-based messages and communicate these effectively to different stakeholders to negotiate action. As part of a global health research program, we developed and tested a novel game-based model to strengthen the communication skills of clinician researchers, from 4 countries, for improving services for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This model focused on communication with 3 key stakeholder groups for knowledge translation: Patients/carers, healthcare providers and policy makers/healthcare managers. Delivered through a series of facilitated, online meetings, this model consisted of 2 parts: developing and rehearsing advocacy messages with coaching support, and then testing them with a panel of 3 representative stakeholders, and an audience of fellow researchers. All the country teams reported increased confidence in crafting advocacy messages for specific stakeholders and have applied lessons learned from the model. Delivering this model within a global health research program requires mentoring, time, commitment, resources and translation support to address language barriers. It offers an exemplar to build the communication skills of clinician and non-clinician researchers so that they can go beyond dissemination toward translation of evidence into policy and practice.

Abstract Background Effective stakeholder engagement in health research is increasingly being recognised and promoted as an important pathway to closing the gap between knowledge production and its use in health systems. However, little is known about its process and impacts, particularly in low-and middle-income countries. This opinion piece draws on the stakeholder engagement experiences from a global health research programme on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) led by clinician researchers in Brazil, China, Georgia and North Macedonia, and presents the process, outcomes and lessons learned. Main body Each country team was supported with an overarching engagement protocol and mentored to develop a tailored plan. Patient involvement in research was previously limited in all countries, requiring intensive efforts through personal communication, meetings, advisory groups and social media. Accredited training programmes were effective incentives for participation from healthcare providers; and aligning research findings with competing policy priorities enabled interest and dialogue with decision-makers. The COVID-19 pandemic severely limited possibilities for planned engagement, although remote methods were used where possible. Planned and persistent engagement contributed to shared knowledge and commitment to change, including raised patient and public awareness about COPD, improved skills and practice of healthcare providers, increased interest and support from clinical leaders, and dialogue for integrating COPD services into national policy and practice. Conclusion Stakeholder engagement enabled relevant local actors to produce and utilise knowledge for small wins such as improving day-to-day practice and for long-term goals of equitable access to COPD care. For it to be successful and sustained, stakeholder engagement needs to be valued and integrated throughout the research and knowledge generation process, complete with dedicated resources, contextualised and flexible planning, and commitment.

BackgroundPrevious neuroimaging studies have revealed structural and functional brain abnormalities in patients with cervical spondylosis (CS). However, the results are divergent and inconsistent. Therefore, the present study conducted a multi-modal meta-analysis to investigate the consistent structural and functional brain alterations in CS patients.MethodsA comprehensive literature search was conducted in five databases to retrieve relevant resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI), structural MRI and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) studies that measured brain functional and structural differences between CS patients and healthy controls (HCs). Separate and multimodal meta-analyses were implemented, respectively, by employing Anisotropic Effect-size Signed Differential Mapping software.Results13 rs-fMRI studies that used regional homogeneity, amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (ALFF) and fractional ALFF, seven voxel-based morphometry (VBM) studies and one DTI study were finally included in the present research. However, no studies on surface-based morphometry (SBM) analysis were included in this research. Due to the insufficient number of SBM and DTI studies, only rs-fMRI and VBM meta-analyses were conducted. The results of rs-fMRI meta-analysis showed that compared to HCs, CS patients demonstrated decreased regional spontaneous brain activities in the right lingual gyrus, right middle temporal gyrus (MTG), left inferior parietal gyrus and right postcentral gyrus (PoCG), while increased activities in the right medial superior frontal gyrus, bilateral middle frontal gyrus and right precuneus. VBM meta-analysis detected increased GMV in the right superior temporal gyrus (STG) and right paracentral lobule (PCL), while decreased GMV in the left supplementary motor area and left MTG in CS patients. The multi-modal meta-analysis revealed increased GMV together with decreased regional spontaneous brain activity in the left PoCG, right STG and PCL among CS patients.ConclusionThis meta-analysis revealed that compared to HCs, CS patients had significant alterations in GMV and regional spontaneous brain activity. The altered brain regions mainly included the primary visual cortex, the default mode network and the sensorimotor area, which may be associated with CS patients' symptoms of sensory deficits, blurred vision, cognitive impairment and motor dysfunction. The findings may contribute to understanding the underlying pathophysiology of brain dysfunction and provide references for early diagnosis and treatment of CS.Systematic review registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO/, CRD42022370967.

ObjectivesTo explore the population-wide impacts of an evidence-based high-risk strategy for prevention of cardiovascular diseases in resource-poor populations.MethodsA cluster randomized controlled trial was conducted among 120 villages in rural China, with 60 on intervention and 60 on usual care as controls, for 2 years. The intervention emphasized training village doctors to identify high-risk individuals and administering standardized treatments focusing on hypertension management. A random sample of 20 men aged ≥50 years and 20 women aged ≥60 years was drawn from each village before randomization for the baseline survey, and another independent random sample with the same age and sex distribution was drawn at 2 years for the post-intervention survey. The primary outcome was the population mean systolic blood pressure (SBP). Secondary outcomes included the proportions of patients who received regular primary care, antihypertensive medications, aspirin, or lifestyle advice.ResultsA total of 5,654 high cardiovascular risk individuals were identified and managed by village doctors in intervention villages for 15 months on average, with mean SBP lowered by 19.8 mmHg and the proportion with blood pressure under control increased from 22.1% to 72.7%. The primary analysis of the two independent samples (5,050 and 4,887 participants each) showed that population-wide mean SBP in intervention villages did not differ from that in control villages at 2 years (mean difference = 1.0 mmHg, 95% CI: −2.19, 4.26; P = 0.528), though almost all secondary outcomes concerning primary care indicators significantly increased in intervention villages.ConclusionsIn our study, the pragmatic cardiovascular risk management program targeting on high-risk individuals significantly improved the quality of primary care. However, its impact on population blood pressure level and the burden of hypertension-related diseases appeared very limited. Clinical Trial RegistrationClinicalTrial.gov identifier, NCT01259700.

Cadmium (Cd) pollution is considered a pressing challenge to eco-environment and public health worldwide. Although it has been well-documented that Cd exhibits various adverse effects on aquatic animals, it is still largely unknown whether and how Cd at environmentally relevant concentrations affects iron metabolism. Here, we studied the effects of environmental Cd exposure (5 and 50 μg/L) on iron homeostasis and possible mechanisms in common carp. The data revealed that Cd elevated serum iron, transferrin saturation and iron deposition in livers and spleens, leading to the disruption of systemic iron homeostasis. Mechanistic investigations substantiated that Cd drove hemolysis by compromising the osmotic fragility and inducing defective morphology of erythrocytes. Cd concurrently exacerbated hepatic inflammatory responses, resulting in the activation of IL6-Stat3 signaling and subsequent hepcidin transcription. Notably, Cd elicited ferroptosis through increased iron burden and oxidative stress in livers. Taken together, our findings provide evidence and mechanistic insight that environmental Cd exposure could undermine iron homeostasis via erythrotoxicity and hepatotoxicity. Further investigation and ecological risk assessment of Cd and other pollutants on metabolism-related effects is warranted, especially under the realistic exposure scenarios.

Abstract The removal of trivalent iron and aluminum was studied from synthetic Li-ion battery leach solution by phosphate and hydroxide precipitation (pH 2.5–4.25, t = 3 h, T = 60 °C). Phosphate precipitation exhibited both crystal nucleation initiation (pH 2 vs. pH 3) as well as complete (~ 99%) Fe and Al removal at lower pH compared to hydroxide precipitation (pH 3 vs. 3.5). The precipitation time of phosphate was shorter (40 min) than that of hydroxide precipitation (80 min). At pH 4 the loss of valuable metals (Li, Ni, Co) in the precipitate was negligible in the phosphate cake, whereas in the hydroxide process the co-precipitation was 4–5% for Li, Ni and Co. The filtration rate of phosphate precipitate was shown to be significantly faster. The presence of fluoride did not have any notable effect on phosphate precipitation, whereas in hydroxide precipitation, it potentially had a negative effect on aluminum extraction.

Computer-aided brain tumor segmentation using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is of great significance for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of patients. Recently, U-Net has received widespread attention as a milestone in automatic brain tumor segmentation. Following its merits and motivated by the success of the attention mechanism, this work proposed a novel mixed attention U-Net model, i.e., MAU-Net, which integrated the spatial-channel attention and self-attention into a single U-Net architecture for MRI brain tumor segmentation. Specifically, MAU-Net embeds Shuffle Attention using spatial-channel attention after each convolutional block in the encoder stage to enhance local details of brain tumor images. Meanwhile, considering the superior capability of self-attention in modeling long-distance dependencies, an enhanced Transformer module is introduced at the bottleneck to improve the interactive learning ability of global information of brain tumor images. MAU-Net achieves enhancing tumor, whole tumor and tumor core segmentation Dice values of 77.88/77.47, 90.15/90.00 and 81.09/81.63% on the brain tumor segmentation (BraTS) 2019/2020 validation datasets, and it outperforms the baseline by 1.15 and 0.93% on average, respectively. Besides, MAU-Net also demonstrates good competitiveness compared with representative methods.

Abstract Background Precancerous lesions of cervical cancer exhibit characteristics indicative of natural progression. To prevent overtreatment of patients whose cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) in regression and to predict the onset of invasive cervical cancer at an early stage, we've identified the vaginal microbiome as a potential key factor, which is associated with both HPV infection and the various cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. This study aims to investigate the microbiome characteristics of patients with various cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. Methods Utilizing high-throughput 16S ribosomal RNA (16S rRNA) sequencing technology, a description of the characteristics and community composition of Vaginal Microbiota (VMB) was conducted among 692 Chinese women infected with the High-risk Human Papillomavirus (HR-HPV). Results As the grade of the lesions increased, the proportions of Lactobacillus and Pseudomonas demonstrated a significant declining trend, while the proportions of Gardnerella, Dialister, and Prevotella significantly increased. The diversity of the VMB was more significant in high-grade CIN. Furthermore, KEGG pathway enrichment analysis indicates that high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia can inhibit various pathways, including those of phosphotransferase system, transcription factors, Fructose and mannose metabolism, amino sugar and nucleotide sugar metabolism, and galactose metabolism, which may contribute to the development of early cervical cancer symptoms. Conclusion Patients with CIN exhibit a distinct vaginal microbial profile characterized by a decrease in Lactobacillus and Pseudomonas, and an increase in Gardnerella, Prevotella, and Dialister. The proliferation and diminution of these two types of microbial communities are interrelated, suggesting a mutual restraint and balance among them. Disruption of this regulatory balance could potentially lead to the onset of cervical lesions and carcinogenesis. Research has demonstrated that urban green spaces play a crucial role in mitigating the severe urban heat island (UHI) effect. However, existing studies often suffer from limitations such as the neglect of the cooling effect of water bodies within the green spaces and incomplete considerations of the overall cooling effect. These limitations may lead to inaccuracies in the research findings. Therefore, the present study takes the city of Xi’an as a case study to explore the optimal green space size for achieving efficient cooling. The results indicate that (i) urban green spaces exhibit robust cooling effects, with variations observed among the various types; (ii) for community parks without water, and for street gardens, the optimal areas of these green spaces are 3.44 and 0.83 hectares, respectively; (iii) for community parks with water, the area of internal water bodies should ideally be maintained at around 29.43% of the total green space area in order to achieve an optimal cooling efficiency. In conclusion, this study introduces a new perspective and new optimization methods for urban green space planning, thereby offering scientific guidance to urban planners in formulating effective development and management policies and urban planning schemes.

When employing the open stope mining method for extracting materials in underground mines, it is necessary for personnel and equipment to operate within a specified range of the goaf area, thus, adoption of appropriate mining parameters in the mining field is crucial for promoting safe production practices. In this study, the Harazi iron mine is taken as the research subject, with theoretical analysis combined with numerical simulation that enables the authors to simulate and analyze the width parameter of the mining field. Theoretical analysis utilizing the Matthew stability chart method confirms that the width of the mining field in Harazi iron mine should not exceed 9 m. Based on this finding, the mechanical response characteristics accompanying the mining process at different widths within the mining field limits are analyzed via the Flac3D numerical analysis software. As a result of this analysis, the optimal width of the mining field in Harazi iron mine is determined to be 8 m. The method utilized in this article provides a rational approach to determining structural parameters of the mining field and can effectively aid in promoting mine safety practices.

The Augmented Transformer U-Net (AugTransU-Net) is proposed to address limitations in existing transformer-related U-Net models for brain tumor segmentation. While previous models effectively capture long-range dependencies and global context, these works ignore the hierarchy to a certain degree and need more feature diversity as depth increases. The proposed AugTransU-Net integrates two advanced transformer modules into different positions within a U-shaped architecture to overcome these issues. The fundamental innovation lies in constructing improved augmentation transformer modules that incorporate Augmented Shortcuts into standard transformer blocks. These augmented modules are strategically placed at the bottleneck of the segmentation network, forming multi-head self-attention blocks and circulant projections, aiming to maintain feature diversity and enhance feature interaction and diversity. Furthermore, paired attention modules operate from low to high layers throughout the network, establishing long-range relationships in both spatial and channel dimensions. This allows each layer to comprehend the overall brain tumor structure and capture semantic information at critical locations. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and competitiveness of AugTransU-Net in comparison to representative works. The model achieves Dice values of 89.7%/89.8%, 78.2%/78.6%, and 80.4%/81.9% for whole tumor (WT), enhancing tumor (ET) and tumor core (TC) segmentation on the BraTS2019-2020 validation datasets, respectively. To fully comprehend the patterns of land and ecological damage caused by coal mining subsidence, and to scientifically carry out ecological mine restoration and management, it is urgent to accurately grasp the information of coal mining, particularly in complex coaling areas, such as North Anhui, China. In this paper, a space–air–ground collaborative monitoring system was constructed for coal mining areas based on multi-source remote sensing data and subsidence characteristics of coaling areas were investigated in North Anhui. It was found that from 2019 to 2022, 16 new coal mining subsidence areas were found in northern Anhui, with the total area increasing by 8.1%. In terms of land use, water areas were increased by 101.9 km2 from 2012 to 2022, cultivated land was decreased by 99.3 km2, and residence land was decreased by 11.8 km2. The depth of land subsidence in the subsidence areas is divided into 307.9 km2 of light subsidence areas with a subsidence depth of less than 500 mm; 161.8 km2 of medium subsidence areas with a subsidence depth between 500 mm and 1500 mm; and 281.2 km2 of heavy subsidence areas with a subsidence depth greater than 1500 mm. The total subsidence governance area is 191.2 km2, accounting for 26.5% of the total subsidence area. From the perspective of prefecture-level cities, the governance rate reaches 51.3% in Huaibei, 10.1% in Huainan, and 13.6% in Fuyang. The total reclamation area is 68.8 km2, accounting for 34.5% of the subsidence governance area. At present, 276.1 km2 within the subsidence area has reached stable subsidence conditions, mainly distributed in the Huaibei mining area, which accounts for about 60% of the total stable subsidence area.

The phenomenon of melting in metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) has recently garnered attention. Crystalline MOF materials can be transformed into an amorphous glassy state through melt-quenching treatment. The resulting MOF glass structure eliminates grain boundaries and retains short-range order while exhibiting long-range disorder. Based on these properties, it emerges as a promising candidate for high-performance separation membranes. MOF glass membranes exhibit permanent and accessible porosity, allowing for selective adsorption of different gas species. This review summarizes the melting mechanism of MOFs and explores the impact of ligands and metal ions on glassy MOFs. Additionally, it presents an analysis of the diverse classes of MOF glass composites, outlining their structures and properties, which are conducive to gas adsorption and separation. The absence of inter-crystalline defects in the structures, coupled with their distinctive mechanical properties, renders them highly promising for industrial gas separation applications. Furthermore, this review provides a summary of recent research on MOF glass composite membranes for gas adsorption and separation. It also addresses the challenges associated with membrane production and suggests future research directions.

Automatic navigation based on dual-antenna real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning has been widely employed for unmanned agricultural machinery, whereas GNSS inevitably suffers from signal blocking and electromagnetic interference. In order to improve the reliability of an RTK-based navigation system in a GNSS-challenged environment, an integrated navigation system is preferred for autonomous navigation, which increases the complexity and cost of the navigation system. The information fusion of integrated navigation has been dominated by Kalman filter (KF) for several decades, but the KF cannot assimilate the known knowledge of the navigation context efficiently. In this paper, the geometric characteristics of the straight path and path-tracking error were employed to formulate the constraint measurement model, which suppresses the position error in the case of RTK-degraded scenarios. The pseudo-measurements were then imported into the KF framework, and the smoothed navigation state was generated as a byproduct, which improves the reliability of the RTK positioning without external sensors. The experiment result of the mobile vehicle automatic navigation indicates that the tracking error-constrained KF (EC-KF) outperforms the trajectory-constrained KF (TC-KF) and KF when the RTK system outputs a float or single-point position (SPP) solution. In the case where the duration of the SPP solution was 20 s, the positioning errors of the EC-KF and TC-KF were reduced by 38.50% and 24.04%, respectively, compared with those of the KF.

Gypsum-based self-leveling has been widely used for its good construction performance and economy. This paper investigated the influence mechanisms of three kinds of water-reducing agents (WRAs) on the properties of anhydrite-based self-leveling floor screeds (ASLF) through macroscopic performance characterization, rheological model fitting, TG-DSC, MIP, SEM, et al. The outcomes conducted that the types, densities, and lengths of the side chain groups of the WRAs had diverse effects on the hardening, rheological parameters, and crystal morphology of ASLF. In descending order, the influence was PCE > SMF > SNF. The anionic groups of PCE affected the crystal growth by adsorbing on the dominant surface of CaSO4·2H2O and reducing the crystal length-diameter ratio. Simultaneously, with the increase of PCE content, the steric resistance effect increased, and the thickness of the surface water film layer increased, resulting in a decrease in the final viscosity and yield strength. ASLF is a power-law fluid that fits the Hershel-Bulkle (H-B) model well. Compared with PCE, the hydration and hardening characteristics of ASLF mixed with SMF and SNF were similar, and the influence was smaller, but a larger amount was required to ensure flowability. The pore size distribution of ASLF-hardened bodies mixed with various superplasticizers was similar. The hardening properties of ASLF were investigated using a variety of methods in this study. Various types of WRAs were investigated for their effects on the hydration and hardening of anhydrite, providing important reference information for ASLF preparation and production.

PurposeAlthough corticosteroids are recommended in the 2021 Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC) guidelines, evidence with respect to their effects on short-term mortality remains conflicting. We conducted this study to identify whether corticosteroids alter 28-day mortality in septic shock patients with gram-negative bacterial infection.Materials and methodsA total of 621 patients with septic shock and gram-negative bacterial culture results were identified from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV (MIMIC-IV) database. Propensity score matching (PSM) was performed, and Kaplan–Meier survival curve analyses with log-rank tests were used to determine the relationship between corticosteroid use and the risk of 28-day mortality. Subgroup analyses were conducted to assess whether the conclusions were stable and reliable.ResultsCorticosteroid administration was associated with increased 28-day mortality in septic shock patients with gram-negative bacterial infection (log-rank test P = 0.028). The incidence of Stage 2 or 3 AKI and the rate of hospital mortality were higher among patients who received corticosteroids. The incidence of Stage 2 or 3 AKI in the early period significantly mediated the relationship between corticosteroid use and 28-day mortality [P =0.046 for the average causal mediation effect (ACME)]. The dewaterability of waste activated sludge (WAS) plays the key role in sludge dewatering in wastewater treatment plants. The magnetic field as a source of clean energy has been reported to be able to cause changes in sludge properties and to enhance sludge dewatering by chemical treatment. This paper focuses on the effect of pre-magnetization on the sludge dewatering performance by ozonation. The results showed that ozonation reduced the capillary suction time (CST) and water content of sludge cake (Wsc) of WAS. The CST reduced from 21.5 ​s to 12.7 ​s; and the Wsc reduced from 85.6% to 85%. However, the addition of pre-magnetization with a magnetic field did not make much improvement of the dewaterability. Further investigation on sludge properties such as EPS, TOC, particle size, and the SEM images of the treated WAS showed that the pre-magnetization prior to ozonation led to stronger oxidation and WAS particle broken, which was proofed not necessarily correlated to sludge dewaterability enhancement.

Surface waterlogging disasters due to underground mining and geological status have caused the abandonment of fertile land, seriously damaged the ecological environment, and have influenced the sustainable development of coal resource-based cities, which has become a problem that some mining areas need to face. However, the traditional underwater terrain measurement method using sonar encompasses a time-consuming and labor-intensive process. Thus, an inversion method for obtaining the underwater spatial information of subsidence waterlogging in coal mining subsidence waterlogging areas is proposed, based on differential interferometric synthetic aperture radar (D-InSAR) and the probability integral prediction method. First, subsidence values are obtained in the marginal area of the subsidence basin using D-InSAR technology. Then, the subsidence prediction parameters of the probability integral method (PIM) are inverted by a genetic algorithm (GA) based on the subsidence values. Finally, the underwater spatial information of subsidence waterlogging is calculated on the basis of the prediction parameters. The subsidence waterlogging area in the Wugou coal mine was adopted as the study area, and the underwater spatial information of subsidence waterlogging was inverted by the proposed method. The results show that this method can effectively provide the underwater spatial information of subsidence waterlogging, including the maximum subsidence value, waterlogging volume, subsidence waterlogging area, and underwater terrain in the subsidence waterlogging area. Compared with field-measured data from the same period, the RMSE of water depth is 99 mm, and the relative error is 9.9%, which proves that this inversion method is accurate and can meet engineering precision requirements.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of feed ingredients with different protein-to-fat ratios on growth, slaughter performance and meat quality of Small-Tail Han lambs. Forty-five Small-Tail Han lambs (♂) (BW = 34.00 ± 2.5 kg, age = 120 ± 9 d) were randomly divided into groups with three different experimental treatments: (1) PF 5, with the ratio of protein to fat (CP:EE) of 50 to 5; (2) PF10, CP: EE = 50:10; (3) PF20, CP: EE = 50:20. Each treatment group had 15 lambs, and each sheep was a repeat. This experiment lasted for 65 days, with feed intake recorded daily, and animals being weighed on days 0, 30, and 65. At the conclusion of the experiment, eight lambs from each group were slaughtered to assess slaughter performance and meat quality. The results showed that the average daily gain (ADG) of the three groups were 315.27, 370.15 and 319.42 g/d, respectively. The PF10 group had the highest ADG (370.15 g) (p < 0.05). Forestomach weights (1216.88 g) of the PF10 group were significantly higher than those of the other groups (p < 0.05). There were no differences (p > 0.05) in fat percentages in various parts of body among treatments. Feed conversion of the PF10 group was higher (p < 0.05) than that of PF 5 and PF 20 groups. Furthermore, the PF10 group had a higher (p > 0.05) carcass weight and slaughter rate and there were few differences between the other groups in terms of dry matter intake, meat quality, organ weight, and fat deposition (p > 0.05). The protein–energy supplement with protein-to-fat ratio, PF10 appeared to be more desirable to promote the growth and development in Small-Tail Han Lambs.

The objective of this study was to examine the intervention effect of group sensory integration training on social responsiveness, and the latency and amplitude of N170 event-related potential of children with autism. The social responsiveness scale was employed to assess alterations in the social response of individuals with ASD before and after training, while event-related potentials were utilized to measure changes in N170 latency and amplitude. This study revealed that group sensory integration training can significantly enhance social responsiveness in children diagnosed with ASD. Children with ASD exhibit atypical N170 responses to faces in the right parietal region. The latency of N170 changes may serve as a valuable indicator for assessing the effectiveness of an intervention or diagnosing ASD.

The Dachang is a world-class, super-giant Sn polymetallic ore field mainly composed of Zn–Cu ore bodies proximal to the granitic pluton and Sn polymetallic ore bodies distal to the granitic pluton. In this study, we used petrographic studies and major and trace element geochemistry with calc-silicates from the Zn–Cu ore bodies to constrain the physicochemical conditions of hydrothermal fluids during skarn rock formation and the evolution of ore-forming elements. Two skarn stages were identified based on petrographic observations: Prograde skarn rocks (Stage I), containing garnet, vesuvianite, pyroxene, wollastonite, and retrograde skarn rocks (Stage II), containing axinite, actinolite, epidote, and chlorite. The retrograde skarn rocks are closely associated with mineralization. The geochemical results show that the garnets in the Dachang ore field belong to the grossular–andradite solid solution, in which the early generation of garnet is mainly composed of grossular (average Gro72And25), while the later generation of garnet is mainly composed of andradite (average Gro39And59); the vesuvianites are Al-rich vesuvianites; the pyroxenes form a diopside–hedenbergite solid solution with a composition of Di3–86Hd14–96; the axinites are mainly composed of ferroaxinite; and the actinolites are Fe-actinolite. The mineral assemblage of the skarn rocks indicates that the ore-forming fluid was in a relatively reduced state in the early prograde skarn stage. As the ore-forming fluid evolved, the oxygen fugacity of the ore-forming fluid increased. During the final skarn stage, the ore-forming fluid changed from a relatively oxidized state to a reduced state. The skarn rocks have evolved from early Al-rich to late Fe-rich characteristics, indicating that the early ore-forming fluid was mainly magmatic exsolution fluid, which may mainly reflect the characteristics of magmatic fluids, and the late Fe-rich characteristics of the skarn rocks may indicate that the late hydrothermal fluid was strongly influenced by country rocks. Trace element analyses showed that the Sn content decreased from the prograde skarn stage to the retrograde skarn stage, indicating that Sn mineralization was not achieved by activating and extracting Sn from prograde skarn rocks by hydrothermal fluids. The significant enrichment of Sn in the magmatic hydrothermal fluid is a necessary condition for Sn mineralization. There are various volatile-rich minerals such as axinite, vesuvianite, fluorite, and tourmaline in the Dachang ore field, indicating that the ore-forming fluid contained extensive volatiles B and F, which may be the fundamental reason for the large-scale mineralization of the Dachang ore field.

Aiming at the problem of complex treatment for energy solid waste—biomass ash (BA) from thermal power plant and difficult recovery for phosphorus and ammonia nitrogen in sewage sludge supernatants, a coupled MgO-biomass ash (CMBA) was established. CMBA composites were synthesized by in situ thermal-precipitation modification method, which simultaneously achieved recovery of phosphorus and ammonia nitrogen and BA resource utilization, and explored the potential of recovered CMBA (RCMBA) containing phosphate and ammonia nitrogen to remove heavy metal from wastewater. The results showed that magnesium oxide could be effectively loaded on the surface of BA at an MgCl2 concentration of 1.25 M and calcination temperature of 400 °C. pH, adsorbent dosages and initial concentration affected the adsorption capacity of phosphate and ammonia nitrogen by 400CMBA. The existence of K+, Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions promoted the removal of phosphate by 400CMBA, but hindered the removal of ammonia nitrogen. The existence of Cl-, NO2- and SO42- ions affected the removal of phosphate by 400CMBA. The adsorption processes of 400CMBA for phosphate and ammonia nitrogen can be used with the Langmuir-Freundlich model and the pseudo-second-order model reaching a maximum adsorption capacity of 262.88 mg/g and 122.39 mg/g, respectively. The adsorption behavior was controlled by several processes, spontaneous and thermogenic chemisorption. The saturated adsorbent can be effectively regenerated in 0.1 M HCl solution. After the fifth regeneration, the phosphate and ammonia nitrogen removal rates were less than 50% and 25%, respectively. The adsorption mechanisms of phosphate and ammonia nitrogen by 400CMBA were mainly physical adsorption, electrostatic attraction, ion exchange, complexation reaction and chemical precipitation, among which chemical precipitation was dominated by struvite crystallization was dominant. In addition, RCMBA had a specific removal effect on heavy metal in solutions. Overall, this work provides a feasible way for the resource utilization of energy solid waste-BA from thermal power plant.

This paper aims at studying the effect of adding ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) emulsion on the properties of desert sand-based permeable materials and explore the modification effect and mechanism of polymers. EVA emulsion can improve the fluidity of the slurry, and significantly improve the compressive strength, water permeability and freezing resistance at 10 % content. The EVA emulsion cured film is adsorbed on the surface of anhydrous cement particles. At the same time, the ester group in emulsion reacts with Ca2+ following hydrolysis, which inhibits the early hydration process of cement and reduces the early heat release. However, it has a non-significant impact on the later-age hydration and ensures the strength development of cement at the later stage. The emulsion can affect the pore structure of the material and can significantly increase the micropores content at 10 % content. The physical and chemical actions of polymer together influence the hydration process of cement and improve the bonding between desert sand and cement paste.

Over the years, the fact that the quaternary diamond-like thermoelectric materials show much lower carrier mobilities than ternary compounds remains mysterious. In this work, by adopting first-principles defect chemistry and electrical transport calculations, the fundamental origin of the difference on carrier mobility between quaternary and ternary diamond-like compounds is addressed, exemplified by Cd2Cu3In3Te8. The results of defect chemistry show that the main intrinsic defects in quaternary compound Cd2Cu3In3Te8 are substitutional defects, i.e., CdIn and CdCu, differing from the copper vacancy defect in ternary Cu-based compound such as CuInTe2. The low defect formation energies in Cd2Cu3In3Te8 result in high defect concentrations, which is caused by the similar atomic radii and electronegativities between CdIn and CdCu. Further calculations show that the low-energy defects are mainly located around the valence band maximum in Cd2Cu3In3Te8. The electrical transport calculations, considering both the acoustic phonon scattering and ionized impurity scattering, demonstrate that mainly due to the higher concentration of the ionized defects, the mobility of the quaternary Cd2Cu3In3Te8 is much lower than that of ternary CuInTe2. Our work sheds light on the intrinsic defects in quaternary diamond-like compounds and their influence on charge transport.

The study explores the influence of polycarboxylate admixture (PCE) on fluorogypsum-based self-leveling material (FSLM) performance. Wev conducted an array of tests to assess workability and mechanical properties, and utilized XRD, TG-DSC, SEM, and MIP techniques for microscopic analysis. The fresh state results showed that PCE enables FSLM to achieve good workability at lower water demand. It was found that PCE partially inhibited plaster hydration from anhydrite to dihydrate, as observed by X-ray diffraction analysis and thermogravimetric analysis, and with the increasing in PCE, the mass loss of samples reached 15.66% at 28 days. The mechanical properties and the microstructure studies proved that the optimal PCE doping level is 0.14%. At this doping level, there is an enhancement in the denseness of the hardened structure, a reduction in porosity—especially when the pores are more than 200 nm, optimization of pore size distribution, an increase in crystal aspect ratio, an enhancement in effective intergranular overlap, and a significant improvement in the 28-day flexural and compressive strength to 7.2 MPa and 36 MPa, respectively. The FSLM prepared under these conditions demonstrates good performance and meets the primary performance index requirements of the Chinese Industry Standard JC/T 1023-2021 (gypsum-based self-leveling floor compound), thereby promoting the comprehensive utilization of fluorogypsum.

The high thrust electro-mechanical servo actuator in rocket launcher is a linear transmission mechanism with high precision planetary roller screw as its core component. In order to study the fatigue stability characteristics of planetary roller screw mechanism，a fatigue comparison test of fault-free and fault is carried out. Based on the test data curve，the influence of loss of gear tooth and two working conditions with or without grease on load，displacement，speed and temperature rise of planetary roller screw mechanism are analyzed. The result shows that planetary roller screw mechanism could maintain relatively stable load，displacement，speed and temperature rise curves under two working conditions of partial tooth defect or without grease. The planetary roller screw mechanism of high thrust electro-mechanical servo actuator could be used without maintenance or less maintenance for the engineering application in case of tooth damage and little grease.

It is challenging to study how topologically close-packed phases (TCPs) transform between one phase to another. Here the authors use atomic-resolved tools to look at the transformation between μ and P phases, revealing an intrinsic link between seemingly unrelated TCP configurations.

Glycosite-specific antibody‒drug conjugatess (gsADCs), harnessing Asn297 N-glycan of IgG Fc as the conjugation site for drug payloads, usually require multi-step glycoengineering with two or more enzymes, which limits the substrate diversification and complicates the preparation process. Herein, we report a series of novel disaccharide-based substrates, which reprogram the IgG glycoengineering to one-step synthesis of gsADCs, catalyzed by an endo-N-acetylglucosaminidase (ENGase) of Endo-S2. IgG glycoengineering via ENGases usually has two steps: deglycosylation by wild-type (WT) ENGases and transglycosylation by mutated ENGases. But in the current method, we have found that disaccharide LacNAc oxazoline can be efficiently assembled onto IgG by WT Endo-S2 without hydrolysis of the product, which enables the one-step glycoengineering directly from native antibodies. Further studies on substrate specificity revealed that this approach has excellent tolerance on various modification of 6-Gal motif of LacNAc. Within 1 h, one-step synthesis of gsADC was achieved using the LacNAc-toxin substrates including structures free of bioorthogonal groups. These gsADCs demonstrated good homogeneity, buffer stability, in vitro and in vivo anti-tumor activity. This work presents a novel strategy using LacNAc-based substrates to reprogram the multi-step IgG glycoengineering to a one-step manner for highly efficient synthesis of gsADCs.

Abstract Background The main causes of lung cancer are smoking, environmental pollution and genetic susceptibility. It is an indisputable fact that PAHs are related to lung cancer, and benzo(a) pyrene is a representative of PAHs. The purpose of the current investigation was to investigate the interaction between AhR and HIF-1 signaling pathways in A549 cells, which provide some experimental basis for scientists to find drugs that block AhR and HIF-1 signaling pathway to prevent and treat cancer. Methods This project adopts the CYP1A1 signaling pathways and the expression of CYP1B1 is expressed as a measure of AhR strength index. The expression of VEGF and CAIX volume as a measure of the strength of the signal path HIF-1 indicators. Through the construction of plasmid vector, fluorescence resonance energy transfer, real-time quantitative PCR, western blotting and immunoprecipitation, the interaction between AhR signaling pathway and HIF-1 signaling pathway was observed. Results BaP can enhance the binding ability of HIF-1α protein to HIF-1β/ARNT in a dose-dependent manner without CoCl2. However, the binding ability of AhR protein to HIF-1β/ARNT is inhibited by HIF-1α signaling pathway in a dose-dependent manner with CoCl2. Conclusion It is shown that activation of the AhR signaling pathway does not inhibit the HIF-1α signaling pathway, but activation of the HIF-1α signaling pathway inhibits the AhR signaling pathway.

A considerable chunk of population in China live in rural areas. To create a suitable living environment in winter, many of them resort to additional solar house to improve the indoor thermal environment. Most of the previous studies focus on how the additional solar house changes the environment, but few try to optimize the size of that house. Therefore, this paper carries out field measurement and numerical simulation to evaluate the indoor thermal environment of a traditional building of Danihe Village, an important residential settlement in Xi’an, northwestern China’s Shaanxi Province, and explores the most suitable size of the additional solar house for improving the indoor thermal environment of the building in winter. The results show that the width of the additional solar house should be controlled within the range of 600–2400 mm, which provides the residents indoor with the best thermal environment. The research results offer a guide for improving indoor thermal environment and reducing indoor energy cost in future.

With the acceleration of urbanization in China, urban problems have become increasingly serious, and have led to the concept of the Park City. This concept involves a consideration of the comprehensive value of green space in order to give full play to the maximum benefit of that green space and, thus, realize the sustainable development of the city. Therefore, an exploration of the optimal scale of urban green space will have theoretical and practical significance for the construction of the Park City and the rational allocation of urban land resources. Taking Xi'an as an example, the present paper comprehensively considers the socioeconomic and ecological benefits of urban green space, and calculates its optimal scale. The results indicate that: (i) in terms of the socioeconomic benefits alone, the per capita amount of green area in Xi’an needs to be larger than 11.08 m2, and there is no theoretical optimal size; (ii) in terms of ecological benefits alone, the per capita amount of green area in Xi’an needs to be greater than 22.98 m2; (iii) in terms of the combined socioeconomic and ecological benefits, the per capita amount of green area of Xi’an needs to be greater than 24.89 m2; (iv) the optimal scale for any city is more siginficantly impacted by the ecological effects than by the socioeconomic effects; (v) to satisfy the development and construction needs of various cities, with their individual characteristics, the optimal urban green space scale should be explored according to the target city’s developmental stage and land use situation. The methods and results of the present study are intended to provide a reference for the future construction of Park Cities in China, as well as the planning of green space systems in other cities globally, and to open new prospects for future research.

Bi2Te3 is a thermoelectric material with high thermoelectric conversion efficiency near room temperature. The control of its components is an effective method to improve the thermoelectric properties of Bi–Te based materials. In this paper, seven-layer Bi–Te thin films with Te content ranging from 36.29% to 77.29% were deposited on non-rotating glass substrates by co-sputtering and the samples were rapidly thermally annealed in a nitrogen atmosphere. The films were characterized by x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and Hall effect measurement methods, and the effects of the components on the film morphology and thermoelectric properties were investigated. The results showed that the films were composed of mainly Bi2Te3 after annealing. As the Te element content increased, the grain size in the film surface first increased and then decreased, the layers between the interfaces became less obvious, and the number of voids decreased. Subsequently, thin films with Te content between 60% and 75% were deposited on a rotating substrate; the thermoelectric properties were relatively high and stable after annealing. A film with Te content of 69.29% had a good crystallization quality and large grain size with a maximum power factor of 8.17 µW/(K2 cm) after annealing at 350 °C for 17 min.

The popularity of teleconsultation during the COVID-19 pandemic enabled increased accessibility for individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, previous studies did not distinguish between synchronous and asynchronous teleconsultation. We evaluated the effectiveness of synchronous teleconsultation for patients with T2DM. We searched Medline, Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cochrane Library and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, ClinicalTrials.gov, and the WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform databases from inception to July 2021. All included studies were randomized controlled trials of synchronous teleconsultation for adults with T2DM compared with usual care. Reviewers independently extracted data and used the Cochrane tool to evaluate risk of bias. Meta-analyses were conducted using random-effects models. A pooled mean difference for both HbA1c (%) and body mass index (BMI) (kg/m2), systolic blood pressure (SBP) (mm Hg), diastolic blood pressure (DBP) (mm Hg), and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-cholesterol) (mg/dL) were calculated. Patient-reported outcomes, such as depression, medication adherence, and quality of life, were also assessed. A total of 9807 abstracts were identified and 27 trials were included. BackgroundWhile many factors that are associated with increased mortality in septic shock patients have been identified, the effects of serum osmolarity on the outcomes of ICU patients with septic shock have not yet been studied.MethodsThe present study was designed to examine the association of serum osmolarity with ICU 28-day mortality in ICU patients with septic shock. Adult patients diagnosed with septic shock from the MIMIC-IV database were selected in this study. The serum osmolarity was calculated synchronously according to the serum concentrations of Na+, K+, glucose, and urea nitrogen.ResultsIn the present study, a significant difference was observed between the 28-day mortality of septic shock patients with hypo-osmolarity, hyper-osmolarity, and normal osmolarity (30.8%, 34.9%, and 23.0%, respectively, p < 0.001), which were detected at ICU admission. After propensity score matching (PSM) for basic characteristics, the relatively higher mortality was still observed in the hypo-osmolarity and hyper-osmolarity groups, compared to normal osmolarity group (30.6%, 30.0% vs. 21.7%, p = 0.009). Furthermore, we found that transforming the hyper-osmolarity into normal osmolarity by fluid therapy on day 2 and 3 decreased this mortality.ConclusionThe serum osmolarity disorder is markedly associated with increased 28-day mortality in septic shock patients.

This study is aimed at exploring the effects of Bacillus coagulans NRS 609 on the growth performance, intestinal health, antioxidant activity, and immune response in common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) by colonizing the intestinal tract with the beneficial strain. Developing digital inclusive finance is one of the most effective ways to alleviate financial exclusion in the agriculture sector. For empirical investigation, data from 30 provinces of Rural China is collected from the period 2011 to 2020. The study constructs five dimensions and 22 indicators in total to critically conduct the impact of digital inclusive finance on high-quality agricultural development. The level of agricultural development is measured by entropy weight TOPSIS, and the impact of digital inclusive finance on its high-quality development is empirically tested. The results show that digital inclusive finance has significantly improved the agricultural sector and, particularly, the Eastern region of China has the greatest impact. Three dimensions of digital inclusion finance have regional heterogeneity in terms of impact on agricultural development in Rural China. Data does not show the simple linear relationship between digital inclusion finance and agricultural development quality. The impact of the former on the latter is characterized by the double thresholds. The digital inclusive finance index is the weakest when it is lower than the first threshold that is 4.7704, and the impact of the second threshold that is 5.3186 on high-quality agricultural development is gradually enhanced. After crossing the second threshold, the impact of digital inclusive finance on high-quality agricultural development in Rural China is significantly enhanced. The development of digital inclusive finance should be strengthened in the Central and Western regions to compensate for regional financial imbalances and promote synergy in the high-quality development of agriculture across the country.

The Qaidam Precambrian block is located in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau and was intruded by numerous Ordovician-Devonian granitoids during and after the closure of the Proto-Tethys Ocean. In the past 20 years, the granitoids within early Paleozoic subduction-collision belts have been investigated in detail. However, the granitoids intruding the inner part of the Qaidam block, bearing the tectonic significance for the whole block, still need to be understood. This study presents new whole-rock geochemical and zircon U-Pb-Hf isotopic data for the Huatugou granitoids in the Qaidam Precambrian block. The investigated granitoids include granodiorite, monzogranite, biotite granite, and muscovite granite, which intruded the Precambrian basements during 451–400 Ma. The granodiorites (451 ± 6 Ma) display adakitic geochemical features and syn-tectonic textures, and their magmas were generated by the partial melting of the lower mafic crust within a thickened continent. The muscovite granites (410 ± 6 Ma), with negative zircon εHf(t) values of −14.5 to −10.4, were crystallized from fractionated S-type magmas, which were derived from the partial melting of ancient crustal materials. The biotite granite (410 ± 3 Ma) and monzogranites (400 ± 4 Ma) are high-temperature A2-type granites. The biotite granite displays positive zircon εHf(t) values of +1.7 to +5.6. Its magma was generated by the high-temperature partial melting of juvenile crustal rocks in a thinned lower crust. The monzogranites exhibit higher SiO2 contents and lower εHf(t) values, and their magmas were derived from the same source but underwent assimilation and fractional crystallization during emplacement. From the thickened to the thinned continent during 451–410 Ma, the western Qaidam block experienced a tectonic transition from compression to extension. Combined with regional geological data, this study suggests that the Qaidam block consisted of the thickened continental crust during subduction processes until the detachment of the subducted slab during the continental collision. The regional extension of the Qaidam block commenced at ∼420 Ma, soon after the exhumation of ultrahigh-pressure metamorphic rocks within the northern Qaidam subduction-collision complex belt.

SrFBiS2 is a quaternary n-type semiconductor with rock-salt-type BiS2 and fluorite-type SrF layers alternately stacked along the c axis. The tunability of the crystal and electronic structures as well as the intrinsically low thermal conductivity make this compound a promising parent material for thermoelectric applications. In the current work, we show that alloying of Se and S in SrFBiS2 reduces the optical band gap with the second conduction band serving as an electron-transport medium, simultaneously increasing the electron concentration and effective mass. In addition, the raw material Bi2Se3 is shown to act as liquid adjuvant during the annealing process, favoring preferred-orientation grain growth and forming strengthen microstructural texturing in bulk samples after hot-pressed sintering. Highly ordered lamellar grains are stacked perpendicular to the pressure direction, leading to enhanced mobility along this direction. The synthetic effect results in a maximum power factor of 5.58 μW cm−1 K−2 at 523 K for SrFBiSSe and a peak zT = 0.34 at 773 K, enhancements of 180% compared with those of pristine SrFBiS2.

Abstract Background Few studies have explored the health and development of AIDS orphans using the positive youth development (PYD) framework. Grounded in this framework, the main objective of this study is to examine how internal assets (i.e., resilience) and external assets (i.e., school connectedness, peer support) affect subjective well-being among Yi AIDS orphans in the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan province, China. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted by interviewing 571 AIDS orphans and 979 non-orphans of Yi ethnic minority from 5th-10th grades. The precise segmentation of tumor regions plays a pivotal role in the diagnosis and treatment of brain tumors. However, due to the variable location, size, and shape of brain tumors, the automatic segmentation of brain tumors is a relatively challenging application. Recently, U-Net related methods, which largely improve the segmentation accuracy of brain tumors, have become the mainstream of this task. Following merits of the 3D U-Net architecture, this work constructs a novel 3D U-Net model called SGEResU-Net to segment brain tumors. SGEResU-Net simultaneously embeds residual blocks and spatial group-wise enhance (SGE) attention blocks into a single 3D U-Net architecture, in which SGE attention blocks are employed to enhance the feature learning of semantic regions and reduce possible noise and interference with almost no extra parameters. Besides, the self-ensemble module is also utilized to improve the segmentation accuracy of brain tumors. Evaluation experiments on the Brain Tumor Segmentation (BraTS) Challenge 2020 and 2021 benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed SGEResU-Net for this medical application. Moreover, it achieves DSC values of 83.31, 91.64 and 86.85%, as well as Hausdorff distances (95%) of 19.278, 5.945 and 7.567 for the enhancing tumor, whole tumor, and tumor core on BraTS 2021 dataset, respectively.

Clostridium difficile toxins are the primary causative agents for hospital-acquired diarrhea and pseudomembranous colitis. Numerous monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) targeting different domains of Clostridium difficile toxin have been reported. Here we report the crystal structures of two mAbs, B1 and B2, in complex with the glycosyltransferase domain (GTD) of the Clostridium difficile toxin B (TcdB). B2 bound to the N-terminal 4 helix bundle of the GTD, a conserved membrane localization domain (MLD) found in the large clostridial glycosylating toxin family implicated in targeting plasma membrane. B1 bound to a distinct epitope at the hinge region between the MLD and the catalytic subdomain of the GTD. Functional studies revealed the potency of these mAbs in vitro and in vivo to be synergistic when given in combination.

The Qinling Complex is located in the core of the northern Qinling Orogen and plays a key role in understanding the tectonic evolution of the Qinling Orogen, but its metamorphic evolution remains controversial. The combined investigation of petrographic observation, zircon U-Pb dating, and phase equilibria modeling for garnet amphibolites from the Tianshui area in the West Qinling Orogen is reported in this study. The results show that the garnet amphibolites record a clockwise P-T path characterized by a pre-TMax decompression heating stage, a temperature peak at P-T conditions of 0.84–0.99 GPa and 869–886 °C, followed by a decompression cooling stage. Zircon U-Pb dating yields four age populations of ~479 ± 4 Ma, ~451 ± 8 Ma, ~411 ± 4 Ma, and ~377 ± 6 Ma. The 479–450 Ma reflects the timing of the pre-TMax high–medium pressure upper amphibolite-facies metamorphism. The metamorphism at peak temperature condition occurred at c.411 Ma and was followed by decompression cooling to c.377 Ma. The Ordovician high–medium pressure metamorphism is related to the continental collision, which is slightly later than the HP–UHP eclogite-facies metamorphism in the East Qinling Orogen. The HT granulite-facies metamorphism at peak temperature condition took place at reduced pressures, suggesting thinning of the collision-thickened orogenic crust. Therefore, the northern West Qinling Orogen experienced a tectonothermal evolution from initial crust thickening to thinning during the Paleozoic collisional orogeny.

BackgroundInterventional embolization is a common treatment for hemoptysis, one of the complications of lung cancer. However, there are no official guidelines for the use of this method in antitumor therapy.Case DescriptionHerein, we describe a case of a patient who was pathologically diagnosed as central squamous cell lung cancer. The patient received chemotherapy, interventional embolization and radiotherapy successively. The tumor regressed rapidly within 48 hours of receipt of interventional embolization. Furthermore, the tumor decreased by more than 50% in size within 7 days during radiotherapy. Unfortunately, the patient has since developed lymph node metastases and remains under treatment.ConclusionsThus, finding the suitable blood vessel embolized may be a suitable option to reduce the local tumor load and can be considered as antitumor therapy in combination with other treatments. The patient’s theoretical hypoxia state after interventional therapy still produced a good tumor regression after radiotherapy. However, so far, no related studies have reported the changes of tumor immune microenvironment in human body after intervention and radiotherapy.

BackgroundCarbohydrate antigen 242 has been clinically used as a diagnostic biomarker for pancreatic cancer. However, the prognostic role of CA242 in hilar cholangiocarcinoma (HCCA) has not been identified. Also, it remains unclear to what extents the vascular invasion and lymph node metastasis mediate the effect of serum CA242 on prognosis.ObjectiveThis study aimed to investigate whether vascular invasion and lymph node metastasis mediate the relationship between CA242 levels and clinical prognosis in HCCA patients after radical resection.MethodsData of 234 HCCA patients who accepted radical resection from March 2008 to December 2014 were analyzed. Vascular invasion and lymph node metastasis were assessed by postoperative pathological examinations. Mediation analysis was performed to study the potential causal relationship between CA242 and overall survival (OS) and relapse-free survival (RFS). Survival analysis was performed using the Kaplan-Meier method.ResultsAmong 234 HCCA patients, 104 patients (44.4%) with normal CA242 levels (≤ 20 IU/ml) had significantly better OS (p=0.004) and RFS (p=0.001) than those 130 patients (55.6%) with elevated CA242 levels (>20 IU/ml). The logistic analysis showed that elevated CA242 was an independent risk factor for vascular invasion (p=0.006) and lymph nodes metastasis (p=0.040). The causal mediation analysis indicated that the vascular invasion (p=0.012 for OS; p=0.036 for RFS) and lymph nodes metastasis (p=0.024 for OS; p=0.014 for RFS) played significant roles in mediating the effect of serum CA242 on OS and RFS.ConclusionSerum elevated CA242 could be a novel marker for prognosis prediction in HCCA patients. Vascular invasion and lymph node metastasis mediated the relationship between CA242 and clinical prognosis.

A symmetric grating is proposed to obtain higher output power in spectral beam combination by increasing the number of lasers and spectral utilization. The grating allows laser beams to be incident from both sides of the grating normal to achieve coaxial beam combining, so the number of beams and the combined output power are doubled compared with the traditional grating under the same spectral line-width. The grating is designed with the central wavelength of 4.65 μm, and the calculation results show that this grating is very advantageous for spectral beam combining, especially for the light waves in the range 4.55–4.71 μm, where their diffraction efficiencies are high (over 80%) and correspond to a wide and linear range of incidence angles. Meanwhile, based on the symmetric gratings we further propose a circular grating to achieve the same frequency spectral beam combining. This beam combining design will not increase the laser spectral line width while enhancing the laser power, reducing the requirements for the unit laser spectral line width, which is very meaningful in some application fields and will further enrich the research of spectral beam combining.
