For traffic incident detection, the acquisition of data and labels is notably resource-intensive, rendering semi-supervised traffic incident detection both a formidable and consequential challenge. Thus, this paper focuses on traffic incident detection with a semi-supervised learning way. It proposes a semi-supervised learning model named FPMT within the framework of MixText. The data augmentation module introduces Generative Adversarial Networks to balance and expand the dataset. During the mix-up process in the hidden space, it employs a probabilistic pseudo-mixing mechanism to enhance regularization and elevate model precision. In terms of training strategy, it initiates with unsupervised training on all data, followed by supervised fine-tuning on a subset of labeled data, and ultimately completing the goal of semi-supervised training. Through empirical validation on four authentic datasets, our FPMT model exhibits outstanding performance across various metrics. Neutrinos at ultrahigh energies can originate both from interactions of cosmic rays at their acceleration sites and through cosmic-ray interactions as they propagate through the universe. These neutrinos are expected to have a low flux which drives the need for instruments with large effective areas. Radio observations of the inclined air showers induced by tau neutrino interactions in rock can achieve this, because radio waves can propagate essentially unattenuated through the hundreds of kilometers of atmosphere. Proposed arrays for radio detection of tau neutrinos focus on either arrays of inexpensive receivers distributed over a large area, the GRAND concept, or compact phased arrays on elevated mountains, the BEACON concept, to build up a large detector area with a low trigger threshold. We present a concept that combines the advantages of these two approaches with a trigger driven by phased arrays at a moderate altitude (1 km) and sparse, high-gain outrigger receivers for reconstruction and background rejection. Accurate real-time object detection enhances the safety of advanced driver-assistance systems, making it an essential component in driving scenarios. With the rapid development of deep learning technology, CNN-based YOLO real-time object detectors have gained significant attention. However, the local focus of CNNs results in performance bottlenecks. To further enhance detector performance, researchers have introduced Transformer-based self-attention mechanisms to leverage global receptive fields, but their quadratic complexity incurs substantial computational costs. Recently, Mamba, with its linear complexity, has made significant progress through global selective scanning. Inspired by Mamba's outstanding performance, we propose a novel object detector: DS MYOLO. This detector captures global feature information through a simplified selective scanning fusion block (SimVSS Block) and effectively integrates the network's deep features. Additionally, we introduce an efficient channel attention convolution (ECAConv) that enhances cross-channel feature interaction while maintaining low computational complexity. Extensive experiments on the CCTSDB 2021 and VLD-45 driving scenarios datasets demonstrate that DS MYOLO exhibits significant potential and competitive advantage among similarly scaled YOLO series real-time object detectors., Comment: 27th International Conference on Pattern Recognition(ICPR)

"PeVatrons" refer to astrophysical sources capable of accelerating particles to energies around $10^{15}$ electron volts and higher, potentially contributing to the cosmic ray spectrum in the knee region. Recently, LHAASO has discovered a large number of PeVatrons, allowing us to investigate in greater depth the contributions of these sources to cosmic rays above the knee region. However, high-energy gamma rays undergo attenuation due to interactions with the interstellar radiation field and cosmic microwave background radiation, requiring corrections to restore the true spectral characteristics at the source. In this study, using interstellar radiation field model extracted from galprop code, we quantitatively calculated the spectral absorption effects of sources listed in the first LHAASO source catalog, with some sources showing absorption reaching 30\% at 100 TeV and 80\% at 3 PeV. We also calculated the high energy gamma ray absorption effects of Galactic microquasars, which are potential PeVatrons. The operation of upcoming ultra-high-energy cosmic-ray, gamma-ray, and neutrino radio-detection experiments, like the Giant Radio Array for Neutrino Detection (GRAND), poses significant computational challenges involving the production of numerous simulations of particle showers and their detection, and a high data throughput. GRANDlib is an open-source software tool designed to meet these challenges. Its primary goal is to perform end-to-end simulations of the detector operation, from the interaction of ultra-high-energy particles, through -- by interfacing with external air-shower simulations -- the ensuing particle shower development and its radio emission, to its detection by antenna arrays and its processing by data-acquisition systems. Additionally, GRANDlib manages the visualization, storage, and retrieval of experimental and simulated data. Beyond conventional ferromagnetism and antiferromagnetism, altermagnetism is a recently discovered unconventional magnetic phase characterized by time-reversal symmetry breaking and spin-split band structures in materials with zero net magnetization. This distinct magnetic phase not only enriches the understanding of fundamental physical concepts but also has profound impacts on condense-matter physics research and practical device applications. Spin-polarized band structures have been recently observed in semiconductors MnTe and MnTe2 with vanishing net magnetization, confirming the existence of this unconventional magnetic order. Metallic altermagnets have unique advantages for exploring novel physical phenomena related to low-energy quasiparticle excitations and for applications in spintronics as electrical conductivity in metals allows the direct manipulation of spin current through electric field. Here, through comprehensive characterization and analysis of the magnetic and electronic structures of KV2Se2O, we have unambiguously demonstrated a metallic room-temperature altermaget with d-wave spin-momentum locking. The highly anisotropic spin-polarized Fermi surfaces and the spin-density-wave order emerging in the altermagnetic phase make it an extraordinary platform for designing high-performance spintronic devices and studying many-body effects coupled with the unconventional magnetism., Comment: 25 pages, 7 figures

Emerging applications in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) routing impose new challenges on automatic length matching, including adaptability for any-direction traces with their original routing preserved for interactiveness. The challenges can be addressed through two orthogonal stages: assign non-overlapping routing regions to each trace and meander the traces within their regions to reach the target length. In this paper, mainly focusing on the meandering stage, we propose an obstacle-aware detailed routing approach to optimize the utilization of available space and achieve length matching while maintaining the original routing of traces. Furthermore, our approach incorporating the proposed Multi-Scale Dynamic Time Warping (MSDTW) method can also handle differential pairs against common decoupled problems. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach has effective length-matching routing ability and compares favorably to previous approaches under more complicated constraints.

Traffic flow forecasting is considered a critical task in the field of intelligent transportation systems. In this paper, to address the issue of low accuracy in long-term forecasting of spatial-temporal big data on traffic flow, we propose an innovative model called Spatial-Temporal Retentive Network (ST-RetNet). We extend the Retentive Network to address the task of traffic flow forecasting. At the spatial scale, we integrate a topological graph structure into Spatial Retentive Network(S-RetNet), utilizing an adaptive adjacency matrix to extract dynamic spatial features of the road network. We also employ Graph Convolutional Networks to extract static spatial features of the road network. These two components are then fused to capture dynamic and static spatial correlations. At the temporal scale, we propose the Temporal Retentive Network(T-RetNet), which has been demonstrated to excel in capturing long-term dependencies in traffic flow patterns compared to other time series models, including Recurrent Neural Networks based and transformer models. We achieve the spatial-temporal traffic flow forecasting task by integrating S-RetNet and T-RetNet to form ST-RetNet. Through experimental comparisons conducted on four real-world datasets, we demonstrate that ST-RetNet outperforms the state-of-the-art approaches in traffic flow forecasting.

The intrinsic magnetic order, large topological-magnetic gap and rich topological phases make MnBi2Te4 a wonderful platform to study exotic topological quantum states such as axion insulator and Chern insulator. To realize and manipulate these topological phases in a MnBi2Te4 thin film, precise manipulation of the electric field across the film is essential, which requires a dual-gate structure. In this work, we achieve dual-gate tuning of MnBi2Te4 thin films grown with molecular beam epitaxy on SrTiO3(111) substrates by applying the substrate and an AlOx layer as the gate dielectrics of bottom and top gates, respectively. Under magnetic field of 9T and temperature of 20 mK, the Hall and longitudinal resistivities of the films show inversed gate-voltage dependence, for both top- and bottom-gates, signifying the existence of the dissipationless edge state contributed by Chern insulator phase in the ferromagnetic configuration. The maximum of the Hall resistivity only reaches 0.8 h/e2, even with dual-gate tuning, probably due to the high density of bulk carriers introduced by secondary phases. In the antiferromagnetic state under zero magnetic field, the films show normal insulator behavior. Traffic flow forecasting is a crucial task in transportation management and planning. The main challenges for traffic flow forecasting are that (1) as the length of prediction time increases, the accuracy of prediction will decrease; (2) the predicted results greatly rely on the extraction of temporal and spatial dependencies from the road networks. To overcome the challenges mentioned above, we propose a multi-channel spatial-temporal transformer model for traffic flow forecasting, which improves the accuracy of the prediction by fusing results from different channels of traffic data. Our approach leverages graph convolutional network to extract spatial features from each channel while using a transformer-based architecture to capture temporal dependencies across channels. We introduce an adaptive adjacency matrix to overcome limitations in feature extraction from fixed topological structures. Experimental results on six real-world datasets demonstrate that introducing a multi-channel mechanism into the temporal model enhances performance and our proposed model outperforms state-of-the-art models in terms of accuracy.

Static IR drop analysis is a fundamental and critical task in chip design since the IR drop will significantly affect the design's functionality, performance, and reliability. However, the process of IR drop analysis can be time-consuming, potentially taking several hours. Furthermore, in the process of fixing violations, it is frequently imperative to do IR drop analysis iteratively, hence exacerbating the computational burden associated with the analysis. Therefore, a fast and accurate IR drop prediction is paramount for reducing the overall time invested in chip design. In this paper, we propose a global and local attention-based Inception U-Net for static IR drop estimation. Our U-Net incorporates components from the Transformer, CBAM, and Inception architectures to enhance its feature capture capability at different scales and improve the accuracy of predicted IR drop. Anderson localization is anticipated to play a pivotal role in the manifestation of the quantum anomalous Hall effect, akin to its role in conventional quantum Hall effects. The significance of Anderson localization is particularly pronounced in elucidating the reasons behind the fragility of the observed quantum anomalous Hall state in the intrinsic magnetic topological insulator MnBi2Te4 with a large predicted magnetic gap. Here, employing varying sized MnBi2Te4 micro/nano-structures fabricated from a single molecular-beam-epitaxy-grown thin film, we have carried out a systematic size- and temperature-dependent study on the transport properties of the films regarding the quantum anomalous Hall states. The low-temperature transport properties of the finite-sized MnBi2Te4 samples can be quantitatively understood through Anderson localization, which plays an indispensable role in stabilizing the ground states. At higher temperatures, the failure of electron localization induced by an excessively short electronic dephasing length is identified as the cause of deviation from quantization. The work reveals that electronic dephasing and localization are non-negligible factors in designing high-temperature quantum anomalous Hall systems., Comment: 20 pages, 4 figures

This paper is concerned with inverse scattering problems of determining the support of an isotropic and homogeneous penetrable body from knowledge of multi-static far-field patterns in acoustics and in linear elasticity. The normal derivative of the total fields admits no jump on the interface of the scatterer in the trace sense. If the contrast function of the refractive index function or the density function has a positive lower bound near the boundary, we propose a hyper-singular source method to prove uniqueness of inverse scattering with all incoming plane waves at a fixed energy. It is based on subtle analysis on the leading part of the scattered field when hyper-singular sources caused by the first derivative of the fundamental solution approach to a boundary point. As a by-product, we show that this hyper-singular method can be also used to determine the boundary value of a Holder continuous refractive index function in acoustics or a Holder continuous density function in linear elasticity.

Advanced machine learning models have recently achieved high predictive accuracy for weather and climate prediction. However, these complex models often lack inherent transparency and interpretability, acting as "black boxes" that impede user trust and hinder further model improvements. As such, interpretable machine learning techniques have become crucial in enhancing the credibility and utility of weather and climate modeling. In this survey, we review current interpretable machine learning approaches applied to meteorological predictions. We categorize methods into two major paradigms: 1) Post-hoc interpretability techniques that explain pre-trained models, such as perturbation-based, game theory based, and gradient-based attribution methods. 2) Designing inherently interpretable models from scratch using architectures like tree ensembles and explainable neural networks. We summarize how each technique provides insights into the predictions, uncovering novel meteorological relationships captured by machine learning. Lastly, we discuss research challenges around achieving deeper mechanistic interpretations aligned with physical principles, developing standardized evaluation benchmarks, integrating interpretability into iterative model development workflows, and providing explainability for large foundation models., Comment: 26 pages, 5 figures

In addition to enhancing traffic safety and facilitating prompt emergency response, traffic incident detection plays an indispensable role in intelligent transportation systems by providing real-time traffic status information. This enables the realization of intelligent traffic control and management. Previous research has identified that apart from employing advanced algorithmic models, the effectiveness of detection is also significantly influenced by challenges related to acquiring large datasets and addressing dataset imbalances. A hybrid model combining transformer and generative adversarial networks (GANs) is proposed to address these challenges. Experiments are conducted on four real datasets to validate the superiority of the transformer in traffic incident detection. Additionally, GANs are utilized to expand the dataset and achieve a balanced ratio of 1:4, 2:3, and 1:1. The proposed model is evaluated against the baseline model. Relational triple extraction is a fundamental task in the field of information extraction, and a promising framework based on table filling has recently gained attention as a potential baseline for entity relation extraction. However, inherent shortcomings such as redundant information and incomplete triple recognition remain problematic. To address these challenges, we propose an Implicit Perspective for relational triple Extraction based on Diffusion model (IPED), an innovative approach for extracting relational triples. Our classifier-free solution adopts an implicit strategy using block coverage to complete the tables, avoiding the limitations of explicit tagging methods. Additionally, we introduce a generative model structure, the block-denoising diffusion model, to collaborate with our implicit perspective and effectively circumvent redundant information disruptions. Experimental results on two popular datasets demonstrate that IPED achieves state-of-the-art performance while gaining superior inference speed and low computational complexity. Long-term traffic prediction has always been a challenging task due to its dynamic temporal dependencies and complex spatial dependencies. In this paper, we propose a model that combines hybrid Transformer and spatio-temporal self-supervised learning. The model enhances its robustness by applying adaptive data augmentation techniques at the sequence-level and graph-level of the traffic data. It utilizes Transformer to overcome the limitations of recurrent neural networks in capturing long-term sequences, and employs Chebyshev polynomial graph convolution to capture complex spatial dependencies. Furthermore, considering the impact of spatio-temporal heterogeneity on traffic speed, we design two self-supervised learning tasks to model the temporal and spatial heterogeneity, thereby improving the accuracy and generalization ability of the model. Experimental evaluations are conducted on two real-world datasets, PeMS04 and PeMS08, and the results are visualized and analyzed, demonstrating the superior performance of the proposed model., Comment: 22 pages, 10 figures

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) utilize sensors, cameras, and big data analysis to monitor real-time traffic conditions, aiming to improve traffic efficiency and safety. Accurate vehicle recognition is crucial in this process, and Vehicle Logo Recognition (VLR) stands as a key method. VLR enables effective management and monitoring by distinguishing vehicles on the road. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have made impressive strides in VLR research. However, achieving higher performance demands significant time and computational resources for training. Recently, the rise of Transformer models has brought new opportunities to VLR. Swin Transformer, with its efficient computation and global feature modeling capabilities, outperforms CNNs under challenging conditions. In this paper, we implement real-time VLR using Swin Transformer and fine-tune it for optimal performance. Extensive experiments conducted on three public vehicle logo datasets (HFUT-VL1, XMU, CTGU-VLD) demonstrate impressive top accuracy results of 99.28%, 100%, and 99.17%, respectively. Additionally, the use of a transfer learning strategy enables our method to be on par with state-of-the-art VLR methods. These findings affirm the superiority of our approach over existing methods. Future research can explore and optimize the application of the Swin Transformer in other vehicle vision recognition tasks to drive advancements in ITS.

We use magnetic force microscopy (MFM) to study spatial uniformity of magnetization of epitaxially grown MnBi2Te4 thin films. Compared to films which exhibit no quantum anomalous Hall effect (QAH), films with QAH are observed to have more spatial uniformity of magnetization with larger domain size. The domain evolution upon magnetic field sweeping indicates that the magnetic domains or the spatial nonuniformity of magnetization originates from the strong pinning of the inherent sample inhomogeneity. A direct correlation between the Hall resistivity and the domain size has been established by analyzing a series of thin films with and without QAH. Our observation shows that one has to suppress the spatial nonuniformity of magnetization to allow the Hall resistivity to be quantized. The fact that a sizable longitudinal resistivity remains even for the QAH sample suggests a quantized Hall insulator scenario. In this study, we investigate intrinsic magnetic topological insulator MnBi2Te4 thin films grown by molecular beam epitaxy. We observe a reentrant quantum anomalous Hall effect when the Fermi energy enters the valance band and magnetic field equals zero, indicating the emergence of the Chern Anderson insulator state. Sequential recommendation has attracted a lot of attention from both academia and industry, however the privacy risks associated to gathering and transferring users' personal interaction data are often underestimated or ignored. Existing privacy-preserving studies are mainly applied to traditional collaborative filtering or matrix factorization rather than sequential recommendation. Moreover, these studies are mostly based on differential privacy or federated learning, which often leads to significant performance degradation, or has high requirements for communication. In this work, we address privacy-preserving from a different perspective. Unlike existing research, we capture collaborative signals of neighbor interaction sequences and directly inject indistinguishable items into the target sequence before the recommendation process begins, thereby increasing the perplexity of the target sequence. Even if the target interaction sequence is obtained by attackers, it is difficult to discern which ones are the actual user interaction records. To achieve this goal, we propose a CoLlaborative-cOnfusion seqUential recommenDer, namely CLOUD, which incorporates a collaborative confusion mechanism to edit the raw interaction sequences before conducting recommendation. Specifically, CLOUD first calculates the similarity between the target interaction sequence and other neighbor sequences to find similar sequences. Then, CLOUD considers the shared representation of the target sequence and similar sequences to determine the operation to be performed: keep, delete, or insert. We design a copy mechanism to make items from similar sequences have a higher probability to be inserted into the target sequence. Finally, the modified sequence is used to train the recommender and predict the next item.

We examine the orbital-selective Mott transition in the non-hybridized two-band Hubbard model using the dynamical mean-field theory. We find that the orbital-selective Mott transition could be quantitatively depicted by the {local two-qubit fidelity}. Furthermore, within the orbital-selective Mott phase, the combined characteristics of the two orbitals lead to the presence of quantum entanglement, which is characterized by the non-semi-integer values of local two-qubit fidelity. It is demonstrated that the Hund's coupling results in the ground states of both wide and narrow bands exhibiting the specific superposition states, indicating the existence of quantum entanglement within orbital-selective Mott phase. Without Hund's coupling, there are no specific superposition states, nor does quantum entanglement occur within the orbital-selective Mott phase. The mechanisms underlying the orbital-selective Mott transition show prominent variations depending on the presence or absence of Hund's coupling and its transverse terms., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

Urban Building Energy Modeling (UBEM) is a critical tool to provide quantitative analysis on building decarbonization, sustainability, building-to-grid integration, and renewable energy applications on city, regional, and national scales. Researchers usually use open data as inputs to build and calibrate UBEM. However, open data are from thousands of sources covering various perspectives of weather, building characteristics, etc. Besides, a lack of semantic features of open data further increases the engineering effort to process information to be directly used for UBEM as inputs. In this paper, we first reviewed open data types used for UBEM and developed a taxonomy to categorize open data. Based on that, we further developed a semantic data schema for each open data category to maintain data consistency and improve model automation for UBEM. In a case study, we use three popular open data to show how they can be automatically processed based on the proposed schematic data structure using large language models. The accurate results generated by large language models indicate the machine-readability and human-interpretability of the developed semantic data schema.

Recent advances in Large Language Models (LLMs) have presented new opportunities for integrating Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) into biological research and education. This study evaluated the capabilities of leading LLMs, including GPT-4, GPT-3.5, PaLM2, Claude2, and SenseNova, in answering conceptual biology questions. The models were tested on a 108-question multiple-choice exam covering biology topics in molecular biology, biological techniques, metabolic engineering, and synthetic biology. Among the models, GPT-4 achieved the highest average score of 90 and demonstrated the greatest consistency across trials with different prompts. The results indicated GPT-4's proficiency in logical reasoning and its potential to aid biology research through capabilities like data analysis, hypothesis generation, and knowledge integration. However, further development and validation are still required before the promise of LLMs in accelerating biological discovery can be realized.

Emerging autonomous farming techniques rely on smart devices such as multi-spectral cameras, collecting fine-grained data, and robots performing tasks such as de-weeding, berry-picking, etc. These techniques require a high throughput network, supporting 10s of Mbps per device at the scale of tens to hundreds of devices in a large farm. We conduct a survey across 12 agronomists to understand these networking requirements of farm workloads and perform extensive measurements of WiFi 6 performance in a farm to identify the challenges in meeting them. Our measurements reveal how network capacity is fundamentally limited in such a setting, with severe degradation in network performance due to crop canopy, and spotlight farm networks as an emerging new problem domain that can benefit from smarter network resource management decisions. To that end, we design Cornet, a network for supporting on-farm applications that comprises: (i) a multi-hop mesh of WiFi routers that uses a strategic combination of 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands as informed by our measurements, and (ii) a centralized traffic engineering (TE) system that uses a novel abstraction of resource units to reason about wireless network capacity and make TE decisions (schedule flows, assign flow rates, and select routes and channels). Our evaluation, using testbeds in a farm and trace-driven simulations, shows how Cornet achieves 1.4 $\times$ higher network utilization and better meets application demands, compared to standard wireless mesh strategies.
