Abstract Three‐phase four‐leg inverters are widely used in power systems due to their inherent ability to handle unbalanced loads. However, with conventional 3D space vector pulse width modulation (3D‐SVPWM), high harmonics of large amplitude exist in the output voltage around the switching frequency and its integer multiples leading to noise in the load motor and limiting the application range of the inverter system. The passband amplification of conventional sinusoidal filters and their cutoff frequency vary with the load, so it is particularly important to investigate the regulation strategy with harmonic suppression. In this study, an improved 3D discontinuous pulse width modulation (M3D‐DPWM) strategy is proposed based on 3D‐SVPWM. By reducing the conventional 3D‐SVPWM switching segments and changing the vector synthesis sequence of the last half switching cycle, the output phase voltage period is reduced to half of the original one, which achieves the purpose of suppressing the output voltage at the switching frequency and its odd multiple high harmonics without changing the fundamental characteristics and adding additional circuits. In contrast, the conventional 3D‐SVPWM switching frequency is increased to 20 kHz to achieve similar performance. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified by simulation and experiment.

Abstract Chronic heart failure (CHF) can induce chronic kidney disease (CKD), called type 2 cardio-renal syndrome (CRS2). The mechanism is not completely clear, and there is a lack of early warning biomarkers of CKD in the context of CHF. Two CKD, one CHF-PBMC and four CHF-cardiac tissue expression profile datasets were obtained from GEO database. Differential expression analysis and WGCNA were used to detect CKD key genes and CHF-related secreted proteins. Protein–protein interaction (PPI), functional enrichment, and cMAP analysis reveal potential mechanisms and drugs of CHF-related CKD. Five machine learning algorithms were used to screen candidate biomarkers, construct a diagnostic nomogram for CKD and validate it in two external cohorts. Clinical serum samples were collected in our hospital to evaluate the correlation and diagnostic value of biomarkers and CKD. 225 CKD key genes and 316 CHF-related secreted proteins were identified. Four key subgroups, including 204 genes, were identified as CRS2-related pathogenic genes by PPI analysis. Enrichment analysis revealed that the identified subgroups exhibited significant enrichment in cytokine action, immune responses, and inflammatory processes. The cMAP analysis highlighted metiradone as a drug with greater potential for therapeutic intervention for CRS2. Utilizing five machine learning algorithms, three hub genes (CD48, COL3A1, LOXL1) were pinpointed as potential biomarkers for CKD, and a nomogram model was constructed. Receiver operating characteristic analysis demonstrated that the nomogram’s area under the curve (AUC) exceeded 0.80 in both the CKD combined dataset and two external cohorts. In addition, the three biomarkers were significantly correlated with the glomerular filtration rate, and the AUC of the model predicting disease progression was 0.944. Furthermore, analysis of immune cell infiltration indicated a correlation between the three biomarkers and the infiltration fraction of macrophages, neutrophils, and other immune cells in CKD. Our clinical cohort validated the expression patterns of three biomarkers in serum, and the diagnostic model achieved an AUC of 0.876. CHF has the potential to facilitate the progression of CKD via the release of cardiac and PBMC secreted proteins. Furthermore, CD48, COL3A1, and LOXL1 have been identified as potential biomarkers for the detection of CKD.

Abstract Introduction Coaching is commonly used to facilitate leadership development among healthcare managers. However, there is limited knowledge of the components of coaching interventions and their impacts on healthcare managers’ leadership development. This mixed-methods systematic review aimed to synthesize evidence of coaching to develop leadership among healthcare managers. Methods The authors conducted a mixed-methods systematic review using a convergent synthesis design where quantitative and qualitative evidence was collected and analyzed concurrently using a matrix synthesis method. They reviewed studies published in English or Chinese by searching databases including MEDLINE (Ovid), CINAHL, Embase, Cochrane Library, Nursing & Allied Health Premium, Scopus, Wanfang, CNKI, SinoMed, and VIP databases from their inception to August 10, 2023, and updated the search again on July 9, 2024. Articles were screened and assessed for eligibility. First, from eligible studies, the qualitative data were extracted to describe intervention components, the perceived impact of coaching, and participants’ perceptions of being involved in coaching intervention. Second, quantitative data analysis was conducted to describe the impact of coaching interventions and the frequency of each theme evolved in the data. Third, qualitative and quantitative data were synthesized using the matrix synthesis method. Results A total of 13 studies were included in the analysis. Three qualitative studies were assessed as having ‘no or few limitations’, three case series studies were scored between five and eight out of 10 points, two quasi-experimental studies showed ‘moderate’ overall bias, and the five mixed-methods studies scored from 40 to 60% (out of 100%). For Objective 1, which covers the component of coaching (aims, ingredients, mechanism, and delivery), the typical aim of coaching interventions was to develop the leadership skills of middle management managers. The ingredients of coaching encompassed three distinct coaching categories and seven specific procedures. The mechanisms of most coaching interventions were based on theory and empirical evidence. The average delivery time was approximately four months. Overall, coaching positively impacts outcomes for managers, organizations, and staff (Objective 2). Perceptions of the participants toward coaching interventions were divided into six categories: barriers, facilitators, effective components, attitudes, satisfactory aspects, and suggestions for designing high-quality coaching interventions to improve leadership (Objective 3). Conclusions The components of coaching interventions varied across different studies. The impact of coaching on leadership development was positive across three levels (manager, organization, and staff). Therefore, we recommend coaching as an intervention for healthcare managers aiming to enhance their leadership level. Future coaching interventions may achieve greater effectiveness if they are specifically aligned with the participants’ perceptions identified in our study.

BackgroundPulmonary rehabilitation (PR) has been shown to effectively support postsurgical recovery in patients with lung cancer (LC) at various stages. While digital PR programs offer a potential solution to traditional challenges, such as time and space constraints, their efficacy and feasibility for patients undergoing LC surgery remain unclear. ObjectiveThis systematic review aims to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of digital PR programs for individuals undergoing LC surgery. MethodsA systematic review was conducted, retrieving data from 6 English and 4 Chinese databases from their inception to January 1, 2024. References in related studies were also manually reviewed. The primary outcomes assessed were physical capacity, lung function, and the incidence of postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs). The secondary outcomes were compliance, hospital stay, chest tube duration, anxiety, depression, and quality of life. Where applicable, recruitment and withdrawal rates were also evaluated. Meta-analysis and descriptive analysis were used to assess the outcomes. ResultsA total of 5 randomized controlled trials and 6 quasi-experimental studies (n=1063) were included, with 4 studies being included in the meta-analyses. Our meta-analyses revealed that digital PR reduced the decline in 6-minute walk distance (6-MWD) by an average of 15 m compared with routine PR programs from admission to discharge, demonstrating a clinically significant improvement in physical capacity (mean difference –15.00, 95% CI –25.65 to –4.34, P=.006). Abstract Fusarium wilt is one of the major constraints on global watermelon production, and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. niveum (Fon) is the causative agent of Fusarium wilt in watermelon and results in severe yield and quality losses worldwide. The enhancement of antifungal activity from antagonistic bacteria against Fon is highly practical for managing Fusarium wilt in watermelon. The aim of this study was to maximize the antifungal activity of Bacillus velezensis LZN01 by optimizing fermentation conditions and analysing its regulatory mechanism via transcriptome sequencing. The culture and fermentation conditions for strain LZN01 were optimized by single‐factor and response surface experiments. The optimum culture conditions for this strain were as follows: the addition of D‐fructose at 35 g/L and NH4Cl at 5 g/L in LB medium, pH 7, and incubation at 30°C for 72 h. The fungal inhibition rate for strain LZN01 reached 71.1%. The improvement of inhibition rate for strain LZN01 in optimization fermentation was supported by transcriptomic analysis; a total of 491 genes were upregulated, while 736 genes were downregulated. Transcriptome analysis revealed that some differentially expressed genes involved in carbon and nitrogen metabolism, oxidation–reduction, fatty acid and secondary metabolism; This optimization process could potentially lead to significant alterations in the production levels and types of antimicrobial compounds by the strain. Metabolomics and UPLC/Q‐Exactive Orbitrap MS analysis revealed that the production yields of antimicrobial compounds, such as surfactin, fengycin, shikimic acid, and myriocin, increased or were detected in the cell‐free supernatant (CFS) after the fermentation optimization process. Our results indicate that fermentation optimization enhances the antifungal activity of the LZN01 strain by influencing the expression of genes responsible for the synthesis of antimicrobial compounds.

BackgroundHerpes zoster is more prevalent among the older adult due to the age-related immune decline, leading to significant pain and complications. Although vaccination effectively prevents viral infections, vaccine hesitancy remains a major barrier to achieving high vaccination rates.To address this, we conducted a qualitative survey using Vaccine Hesitancy Determinants Matrix and 5C model to understand and improve vaccination rates in this group.MethodsDescriptive qualitative research design based on the philosophical underpinnings of naturalistic inquiry and purposive sampling methodology was conducted on adults aged 50 and above, as well as community health workers. Data were collected through semi-structured, in-depth personal interviews. The interview outline was constructed following a comprehensive review of the literature and consideration of the theoretical framework.ResultsSeventeen adults over 50 years and four community healthcare workers were included in this study. The study found that information asymmetry in immunization planning was evident at all stages of vaccine supply, dissemination and demand. The main manifestations included limited access to authoritative information, insufficient community awareness of herpes zoster as a route of vaccination, insufficient vocational training, significant gaps in vaccine knowledge, and high levels of complacency among individual residents.ConclusionHerpes zoster vaccine hesitancy is prevalent among middle-aged and older adults in China due to information asymmetry, vaccine complacency, inadequate community services, and other multiple layers of factors. Public health strategies should aim to reduce cognitive biases and information gaps by disseminating diverse and credible vaccine information through social media, medical institutions, and offline channels to promote higher vaccination rates.

Abstract Background Unit nurse managers hold essential positions that can facilitate implementation of evidence-based practice. Studies showed that nurse managers in China lacked competencies and behaviours necessary to lead evidence-based practice implementation. The aim of the current study was to develop a context-fit training program prototype to enhance leadership competencies and behaviours regarding evidence-based practice implementation of Chinese unit nurse managers. Method We used a descriptive qualitative study design and followed the integrated knowledge translation approach to co-develop the prototype in a tertiary hospital in Changsha, China. Seven nurse managers from the participated hospital and a researcher co-developed the prototype based on the Ottawa Model of Implementation Leadership (O-MILe). The development process encompassed four phases from November 2021 to March 2022 that involved group discussions (n = 4) and individual interviews (n = 21). All data were analysed by two independent researchers using the thematic analysis method. Results Managers agreed that all O-MILe behaviours were important to evidence-based practice implementation, and only minor modifications were needed for clarification and adaptation. The actions managers identified that could operationalize the leadership behaviours were related to current clinical practices, evidence-based practice, nurses, patients, interprofessional staff members, incentives and resources, organization and external entities. Three types of general competencies related to evidence-based practice, professional nursing, and implementation leadership were identified. Multimodal activities such as lectures, experience sharing, group discussions, plan development and coaching were suggested to deliver the training program. Conclusions All O-MILe leadership behaviours were perceived as essential for unit nurse managers to lead EBP implementation in the hospital context in China. We identified the leadership actions and the competencies required for nursing managers to implement EBP in China. Further studies are required to evaluate the acceptability and impact of this prototype. Further studies with large sample sizes across various clinical settings are needed to facilitate the generalization of the findings and gain an in-depth understanding of the program.

Abstract Background Despite being a global public health concern, there is a research gap in analyzing implementation strategies for managing off-label drug use in children. This study aims to understand professional health managers’ perspectives on implementing the Guideline in hospitals and determine the Guideline’s implementation facilitators and barriers. Methods Pediatric directors, pharmacy directors, and medical department directors from secondary and tertiary hospitals across the country were recruited for online interviews. The interviews were performed between June 27 and August 25, 2022. The Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) was adopted for data collection, data analysis, and findings interpretation to implement interventions across healthcare settings. Results Individual interviews were conducted with 28 healthcare professionals from all over the Chinese mainland. Key stakeholders in implementing the Guideline for the Management of Pediatric Off-Label Use of Drugs in China (2021) were interviewed to identify 57 influencing factors, including 27 facilitators, 29 barriers, and one neutral factor, based on the CFIR framework. The study revealed the complexity of the factors influencing managing children’s off-label medication use. A lack of policy incentives was the key obstacle in external settings. The communication barrier between pharmacists and physicians was the most critical internal barrier. Conclusion To our knowledge, this study significantly reduces the implementation gap in managing children’s off-label drug use. We provided a reference for the standardized management of children’s off-label use of drugs.

ObjectivesHerpes zoster vaccination is critical in preventing herpes zoster virus infection and its associated consequences. Despite its relevance, global herpes zoster immunisation coverage remains alarmingly low. Understanding the factors that drive vaccine scepticism and acceptance is crucial for increasing immunisation rates and improving public health outcomes.MethodsThis scoping review, following Joanna Briggs Institute guidelines, included 18 studies examining vaccine hesitancy, acceptance, and associated factors. Meticulous data analysis revealed hesitancy’s intricate dynamics across countries and demographics.ResultsStudies displayed a wide range of acceptance rates (2.8%–89.02%), showcasing the complex interplay of attitudes and behaviors towards vaccination. Reasons for vaccine refusal were repeatedly identified in this setting, including worries about potential adverse effects, views of vaccine necessity, and vaccine supply constraints. Notably, individuals’ patterns of vaccine acceptance and hesitancy differed among countries, vaccines, and vaccination-related factors.ConclusionAddressing acceptance hurdles by improving accessibility, providing accurate information, and strengthening healthcare recommendations is crucial. Understanding the multifaceted factors influencing hesitancy allows for targeted interventions, elevating immunization rates and enhancing public health globally.

Abstract Background Recent studies provide compelling evidence linking the gut microbiota to most cancers. Nevertheless, further research is required to establish a definitive causal relationship between the gut microbiota and malignant cardiac tumors. Methods The genome‐wide association studies (GWAS) data on the human gut Microbiota, included in the IEU Open GWAS project, was initially collected by the MiBioGen consortium. It encompasses 14,306 individuals and comprises a total of 5,665,279 SNPs. Similarly, the GWAS data on malignant cardiac tumors, also sourced from the IEU Open GWAS project, was initially stored in the finnGen database, including 16,380,303 SNPs observed within a cohort of 174,108 individuals within the European population. Utilizing a two‐sample Mendelian randomization (MR) methodology, we examined whether there exists a causal association between the gut microbiota and cardiac tumors. Additionally, to bolster the credibility and robustness of the identified causal relationships, we conducted an extensive array of sensitivity analyses, encompassing Cochran's Q test, MR‐PRESSO tests, MR‐Egger interpret test, directionality test and leave‐one‐out analysis. Results Our analysis unveiled seven distinct causal associations between genetic susceptibility in the gut microbiota and the incidence of malignant cardiac tumors. Among these, the Family Rikenellaceae, genus Eubacterium brachy group, and genus Ruminococcaceae UCG009 exhibited an elevated risk of cardiac tumors, while the phylum Verrucomicrobia, genus Lactobacillus, genus Ruminiclostridium5, and an unknown genus id.1868 were genetically linked to a reduced risk of cardiac tumors. The causal relationship between these two bacteria, belonging to the phylum Verrucomicrobia (OR = 0.178, 95% CI: 0.052–0.614, p = 0.006) and the genus Ruminococcaceae UCG009 (OR = 3.071, 95% CI: 1.236–7.627, p = 0.016), and cardiac tumors was further validated through sensitivity analyses, reinforcing the robustness and reliability of the observed associations. Conclusion Our MR analysis confirms that the phylum Verrucomicrobia displays significant protection against cardiac tumor, and the genus Ruminococcaceae UCG009 leads to an increasing risk of cardiac tumor.

The aroma components and key aroma components from citrus peels with six different aroma types were analyzed to provide the basis for quality evaluation of citrus peels and development of special aroma citrus essential oils. The volatile components of essential oil from citrus peel were analyzed by headspace-solid phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GCMS), and the key aroma components were calculated by relative odor activity value (ROAV). The results showed that 75 volatile compounds were identified from the essential oils of 6 citrus cultivars. The content of monoterpene (73.82%~91.19%) was the highest, followed by alcohols (4.32%~12.63%) and sesquiterpene (1.51%~10.20%), and these components interact to form a unique aroma of citrus peel. There were 23 compounds common in essential oils of six citrus peel, and their contents reached about 80.33%~94.59%. According to the composition of the compounds, the six essential oils can be divided into three types: Limonene, limonene/γ-terpene and limonene/3-carene. ROAV analysis showed that linalool was the most important flavor component of six essential oils from citrus peel. In addition, the key aroma components of essential oils from Quzhou, Ziyang, Qingpi, Nanfeng, Jinqiuchatang and Hongmeiren were significantly different, and there were 8, 14, 11, 8, 13 and 18 aroma components, which would play an important role in the unique aroma formation of citrus peel essential oil.

Abstract Background Due to the diversity and high sensitivity of the treatment, there were difficulties and uncertainties in the breast cancer surgical decision‐making process. We aimed to describe the patient's decision‐making behaviour and shared decision‐making (SDM)‐related barriers and facilitators in breast cancer surgical treatment. Methods We searched eight databases for qualitative studies and mixed‐method studies about breast cancer patients' surgical decision‐making process from inception to March 2021. The quality of the studies was critically appraised by two researchers independently. We used a ‘best fit framework approach’ to analyze and synthesize the evidence. Results Twenty‐eight qualitative studies and three mixed‐method studies were included in this study. Four themes and 10 subthemes were extracted: (a) struggling with various considerations, (b) actual decision‐making behaviours, (c) SDM not routinely implemented and (d) multiple facilitators and barriers to SDM. Conclusions Patients had various considerations of breast surgery and SDM was not routinely implemented. There was a discrepancy between information exchange behaviours, value clarification, decision support utilization and SDM due to cognitive and behavioural biases. When individuals made surgical decisions, their behaviours were affected by individual‐level and system‐level factors. Therefore, healthcare providers and other stakeholders should constantly improve communication skills and collaboration, and emphasize the importance of decision support, so as to embed SDM into routine practice. Patient and Public Contribution This systematic review was conducted as part of a wider research entitled: Breast cancer patients' actual participation roles in surgical decision making: a mixed method research. The results of this project helped us to better analyze and generalize patients' views.

Objectives To comprehensively synthesise evidence regarding the validity and reliability of the Anaesthetists’ Non-Technical Skills (ANTS) behavioural marker system and its application as a tool for the training and assessment of non-technical skills to improve patient safety.Design Systematic review.Data sources We employed a citation search strategy. The Scopus and Web of Science databases were searched for articles published from 2002 to May 2022.Eligibility criteria English-language publications that applied the ANTS system in a meaningful way, including its use to guide data collection, analysis and reporting.Data extraction and synthesis Study screening, data extraction and quality assessment were performed by two independent reviewers. We appraised the quality of included studies using the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Checklists. A framework analysis approach was used to summarise and synthesise the included articles.Results 54 studies were identified. The ANTS system was applied across a wide variety of study objectives, settings and units of analysis. The methods used in these studies varied and included quantitative (n=42), mixed (n=8) and qualitative (n=4) approaches. Most studies (n=47) used the ANTS system to guide data collection. The most commonly reported reliability statistic was inter-rater reliability (n=35). Validity evidence was reported in 51 (94%) studies. The qualitative application outcomes of the ANTS system provided a reference for the analysis and generation of new theories across disciplines.Conclusion Our results suggest that the ANTS system has been used in a wide range of studies. It is an effective tool for assessing non-technical skills. Investigating the methods by which the ANTS system can be evaluated and implemented for training within clinical environments is anticipated to significantly enhance ongoing enhancements in staff performance and patient safety.PROSPERO registration number CRD42022297773.

Abstract Moisture sources release wet-components into indoor air, affecting the occupants’ health, air conditioning energy consumption, and building service-life. Wet-component evaporation and diffusion are dynamic processes, and yet existing indices are limited in their ability to accurately describe moisture sources dynamically influencing indoor air. Here we propose two indices CRIt (H), an index of the rate of humidity contribution change, and CRIt (c) as the rate of indoor climate contribution change. Taking a humidifier as the source, we use our indices to compare by experiment the impact of source parameters on a variety of ambient conditions over space and time. Our approach accurately reflects how the moisture source affect humidity and temperature, with identification of specific stages of dynamic influence. This study will be beneficial for the establishment of transient indoor environmental models, regulation of air-conditioning systems, and sustainable control of the indoor environment.

Abstract Objective To understand developers’ perception of patient (versions of) guidelines (PVGs), and identify challenges during the PVG development, with the aim to inform methodological guidance for future PVG development. Methods We used a descriptive qualitative design. Semi-structured interviews were conducted virtually from December 2021 to April 2022, with a purposive sampling of 12 PVG developers from nine teams in China. Conventional and directed content analysis was used for data analysis. Results The interviews identified PVG developers’ understanding of PVGs, their current practice experience, and the challenges of developing PVGs. Participants believed PVGs were a type of health education material for patients; therefore, it should be based on patient needs and be understandable and accessible. Participants suggested that PVGs could be translated/adapted from one or several clinical practice guidelines (CPG), or developed de novo (i.e., the creation of an entirely new PVG with its own set of research questions that are independent of existing CPGs). Participants perceived those existing methodological guidelines for PVG development might not provide clear instructions for PVGs developed from multiple CPGs and from de novo development. Challenges to PVG development include (1) a lack of standardized and native guidance on developing PVGs; (2) a lack of standardized guidance on patient engagement; (3) other challenges: no publicly known and trusted platform that could disseminate PVGs; concerns about the conflicting interests with health professionals. Conclusions and practice implications Our study suggests clarifying the concept of PVG is the primary task to develop PVGs and carry out related research. There is a need to make PVG developers realize the roles of PVGs, especially in helping decision-making, to maximize the effect of PVG. It is necessary to develop native consensus-based guidance considering developers’ perspectives regarding PVGs.

BackgroundPeripheral neuropathy (PN) is prevalent in people with human immunodeficiency virus (PHIV) with no Food and Drug Administration-approved treatment. Therapeutic Chinese massage (TCM) is a promising noninvasive and non-harmful intervention for HIV-related PN. However, relevant research is lacking. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of TCM for HIV-related PN.MethodWe conducted a pilot, single-centered, two-arm, double-blinded, randomized controlled trial. Twenty eligible PHIV were recruited primarily from the AIDS Foundation Houston, Inc. in Texas and were randomly assigned into two groups. Ten participants in the intervention group received three weekly 25-min TCM sessions by a certified TCM therapist. The remaining ten control group participants received the same therapist’s three weekly 25-min placebo massage sessions on their lower extremities. The outcome was the feasibility of this study as measured by recruitment and completion rates, participant safety, and treatment adherence and compliance, as well as the effect size of the intervention.ResultsThe study population comprised 20 PHIV (mean age 55.23). This study showed high feasibility as measured by a high rate of recruitment, a 100% rate of completion, and zero serious adverse events. As we inquired 21 respondents for eligibility for the study, all except one had HIV-related PN. All respondents were willing to participate in the study and adhered to the group assignment after they enrolled in the study. The participants’ baseline pain was at a medium to a high level (6.30 [2.15] out of 10).ConclusionChinese massage is a feasible intervention in PHIV. Neuroblastoma is one of the most common tumors in children. Cases where an isolated soft-tissue metastasis mass is the initial symptom are rare, with only four such cases reported to date. We describe the imaging findings of ten cases of neuroblastoma patients in our hospital with superficial soft tissue mass (SSTM) as the primary symptom. The main ultrasound finding of SSTM was hypoechoic masses or scattered speck-like hyperechoic masses. However, when this type of SSTM is caused by soft tissue metastasis, the location is often atypical, and ultrasound findings are difficult to distinguish from other benign diseases. Therefore, this research should remind clinicians to recognize atypical presentations of this common childhood malignant tumor. Radiologists should also consider the possibility of neuroblastoma when finding this type of SSTM with atypical ultrasound features.

AbstractThe bacterial strain LZN01 is a potential biocontrol agent that produces myriocin and inhibits the growth of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. niveum (Fon). To characterize strain LZN01, the Illumina HiSeq + PacBio sequencing platform was used to sequence its genome. Unicycler software was used to perform genome assembly and antiSMASH to predict gene clusters responsible for secondary metabolite biosynthesis. The genome comprises 3973236 bp and has a 46.52% G + C content. Genome annotation predicts 4031 coding DNA sequences (CDSs), 27 rRNAs and 86 tRNAs. Strain LZN01 was identified as Bacillus velezensis based on phylogenomic analysis. We identified 14 gene clusters associated with the synthesis of antimicrobial secondary metabolites, including surfactin, fengycin, bacillibactin and bacilysin, among others. There are also genes associated with induced systemic resistance and plant growth promotion, such as biofilm formation, swarming motility, root colonisation, phosphate solubilisation, phytohormone production, acetoin and 2,3-butanediol synthesis. Many genes are associated with plant–bacteria interactions, including pectinase and galactosidase genes. We inferred that the genes epsN, capD, dagK, glk and manA are associated with myriocin biosynthesis. Overall, our data provide a valuable reference for further studies of the biocontrol mechanisms of strain LZN01 as a promising agent for application in agricultural practice.

Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) is esteemed as a high-performance engineering polymer renowned for its exceptional mechanical properties and thermal stability. Nonetheless, the majority of polymer-based lubricating materials fail to meet the contemporary industrial demands for motion components regarding high speed, heavy loading, temperature resistance, and precise control. Utilizing 3D printing technology to design and fabricate intricately structured components, developing high-performance polymer self-lubricating materials becomes imperative to fulfill the stringent operational requirements of motion mechanisms. This study introduces a novel approach employing 3D printing technology to produce PEEK with varying filling densities and conducting in situ synthesis of zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF-8) nanomaterials on its surface to enhance PEEK’s frictional performance. The research discusses the synthetic methodology, characterization techniques, and tribological performance evaluation of in situ synthesized ZIF-8 nanomaterials on PEEK surfaces. The findings demonstrate a significant enhancement in frictional performance of the composite material under low-load conditions, achieving a minimum wear rate of 4.68 × 10−6 mm3/N·m compared to the non-grafted PEEK material’s wear rate of 1.091 × 10−5 mm3/N·m, an approximately 1.3 times improvement. Detailed characterization and analysis of the worn surface of the steel ring unveil the lubrication mechanism of the ZIF-8 nanoparticles, thereby presenting new prospects for the diversified applications of PEEK.

Abstract Background An increasing number of interventions have focused on leadership development for healthcare managers, among which coaching is a common strategy. The purpose of the present systematic review is to synthesize evidence on the effect of coaching in developing leadership of healthcare managers. Methods and analysis A literature search will be conducted in six English databases (MEDLINE (Ovid), CINAHL, Embase, Cochrane library, Nursing & Allied Health Premium, and Scopus) and four Chinese databases (Wanfang, CNKI, SinoMed, and VIP) from inception to April 1st, 2022. The titles, abstracts, and full texts of the studies will be screened by two independent researchers to determine their eligibility. The RoB 2, ROBINS-I, CASP, and MMAT will be applied to assess the quality of randomized trials, non-randomized studies, qualitative studies, and mixed-method studies, respectively. We will then extract the study characteristics, participant characteristics, and study outcomes of the reviewed papers. The Aims, Ingredients, Mechanism, and Delivery framework will be used to extract the components of coaching strategies. For quantitative data, a meta-analysis will be performed if sufficient data are available; otherwise, we will conduct a narrative synthesis. Thematic synthesis methods will be used for qualitative data analysis. Discussion By conducting this systematic review, we expect to synthesize evidence regarding the components of coaching for leadership development among healthcare managers; the influence of coaching on leadership development among managers at the individual, unit-wide, or organizational level; and how managers view coaching as a leadership development strategy. Introduction The high incidence of unsafe anaesthetic care leads to adverse events and increases the burden on patient safety. An important reason for unsafe anaesthesia care is the lack of non-technical skills (NTS), which are defined as personal cognitive, social or interpersonal skills, among anaesthetists. The anaesthetists’ NTS (ANTS) behavioural marker system has been widely used to evaluate and improve anaesthetists’ behavioural performance to ensure patient safety. This protocol describes a planned systematic review aiming to determine the validity and reliability of the ANTS behavioural marker system and its application as a tool for the training and assessment of ANTS and for improving patient safety.Methods and analysis This systematic review follows the guidelines of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Protocol. Studies that applied the ANTS behavioural marker system in a meaningful way, including using the ANTS behavioural marker system to guide data collection, analysis, coding, measurement, and/or reporting, which have been published in peer-reviewed journals, will be eligible. A citation search strategy will be employed. We will search Scopus and Web of Science for publications from 2002 to May 2022, which cite the three original ANTS behavioural marker system publications by Fletcher et al. We will also search the references of the relevant reviews for additional eligible studies. For each study, two authors will independently screen papers to determine eligibility and will extract the data. The quality of the included studies will be assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal Checklists. A framework analysis approach that consists of five steps—familiarisation, identifying a thematic data extraction framework, indexing, charting, mapping and interpretation—will be used to synthesise and report the data.Ethics and dissemination Ethics approval is not required for this study. The findings will be disseminated primarily through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.PROSPERO registration number CRD42022297773.

Abstract Aim This study aimed to evaluate the validity, reliability and acceptability of the Implementation Leadership Scale in the Chinese nursing context. Design This study utilized a cross‐sectional design. Methods This study was conducted in one general tertiary hospital with 234 nurses (85.3% response rate) from 35 clinical units in China. Content validity, structural validity, convergent validity, reliability (internal consistency), agreement indices and acceptability were evaluated. The data collection was from December 1st, 2017 to June 30th, 2018. Results Confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated a good model fit to the four‐factor implementation leadership model. The psychometric testing also indicated good convergent validity, high internal consistency and acceptable aggregation. Most participants completed the scale in two minutes or less and agreed or strongly agreed that the questions were relevant to implementation leadership, clear and easy to answer. Conclusions This study demonstrated that the Chinese Implementation Leadership Scale is a valid, reliable and pragmatic tool for measuring strategic leadership for implementing evidence‐based practices.

Abstract Background Endotracheal suctioning is one of the most frequently performed invasive procedures by intensive care nurses. Nurses should have adequate knowledge and skills to perform endotracheal suctioning based on the best evidence. Little is known about intensive care nurses’ knowledge and practice of evidence-based endotracheal suctioning in Chinese hospitals. The purpose of this study was to investigate intensive care nurses’ knowledge and practice of evidence-based recommendations regarding endotracheal suctioning. Specifically, the study aimed to examine (1) intensive care nurses’ awareness of and adherence to endotracheal suctioning guidelines and (2) factors influencing their level of awareness and adherence. Methods A cross-sectional survey of 310 staff nurses working in intensive care units was carried out at Changsha, China. Data on participants’ characteristics, awareness of, and adherence to the endotracheal suctioning guidelines were collected through online questionnaires. Following univariate descriptive statistics, the Mann–Whitney U test and Kruskal–Wallis H test were performed using Software Package Statistical Analysis Version 23.0. Results A total of 281 nurses completed and returned the survey (response rate = 90.6 %). One-half to three-quarters of the nurses knew 21 of the 26 evidence-based practices and believed their practices followed the guidelines. Over half of them were unaware of the difference between open and close suctions and the pros and cons of using hyperinflation. Almost 50 % of nurses believed some of their clinical practices did not follow the evidence-based recommendations, such as not routinely using normal saline and using 80–120 mmHg suction pressure during endotracheal suctioning. Nurses with endotracheal suctioning training demonstrated significantly higher awareness of endotracheal suctioning recommendations and higher adherence levels than untrained nurses. Conclusions The study findings revealed that Chinese intensive care nurses lacked awareness of several essential evidence-based endotracheal suctioning practices, and there were gaps between their current practice and the guideline recommendations. Further research should emphasize revealing barriers and facilitators of implementing evidence-based endotracheal suctioning practices as well as developing context-suitable interventions for guideline implementation.

Abstract Aims To investigate the attitudes and beliefs towards the implementation of nurse prescribing among general nurses and nurse specialists. Design A cross‐sectional survey among general nurses and nurse specialists was conducted in seven provinces and one autonomous region in mainland China using convenience sampling method. Methods The attitudes and beliefs towards nurse prescribing were assessed using the Nurse Attitudes and Beliefs towards Nurse prescribing scale, of which Cronbach's coefficient was 0.902, retest reliability was 0.808. Respondents from eight hospitals across the country were employed to complete an online questionnaire. ObjectivesThis study aims to clarify the profiles of the psychological antecedents of vaccine hesitancy among Shanghai nurses with a person-centered approach.MethodsA population-based cross-sectional online survey was conducted on Shanghai nurses from July to August 2021 (N = 1,928). In the online survey, participants were asked to report their sociodemographic, the 5C vaccine hesitancy components, their knowledge level of COVID-19 vaccine and vaccination, and the COVID-19 vaccination uptake intention and attention to vaccine news. Latent profile analysis was used to reveal distinct profiles of vaccine hesitancy.ResultsThe results revealed four profiles, including “believers” (68.9%; high confidence and collective responsibility), “free riders” (12.7%; similar characteristics to believers, except for a low collective responsibility), “middlemen” (14.6%; middle in all 5C constructs), and “contradictors” (3.7%; high in all 5C constructs). Compared to believers, middlemen were younger, more likely to be female, childless, less educated, held lower professional titles, had fewer years of nursing service, sometimes or never complied with recommended vaccinations, had satisfactory or poor self-assessed health status, had no work experience during the COVID-19 epidemic, and possessed greater levels of knowledge. Free riders were more likely to work in community health centers and have a lower degree than believers. Contradictors were more likely to work in community health centers, had junior college degrees or lower, and had no work experience during the COVID-19 epidemic than believers. From the highest to the lowest on vaccination intention and attention to vaccine news were believers, then free riders, contradictors, and finally middlemen.ConclusionThis study could aid in the development of personalized vaccination strategies based on nurses' vaccine hesitancy profiles and predictors. In addition to vaccine believers, we identified other three profiles based on their 5C psychological antecedents, emphasizing the significance of establishing tailored vaccination campaigns. Further research into the prevalence of profile structure in other groups of healthcare workers is required.

Strain rate and temperature are influential factors that significantly impact the mechanical properties of long glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene composites. This study aims to investigate the tensile properties of these composites, analyzing the effects of temperature, strain rate, and their interplay on variables such as tensile stress, tensile strength, fracture stress, and fracture morphology through a series of comprehensive tensile experiments. The experimental results demonstrate a notable increase in both tensile strength and tensile fracture stress when the temperature is set at 25 °C, accompanied by strain rates of 10−4, 10−3, 10−2, and 10−1 s−1. Conversely, a significant decrease is observed in the aforementioned properties when the strain rate is fixed at 10−4, while varying temperatures of −25 °C, 0 °C, 25 °C, 50 °C, and 75 °C are applied. At lower temperatures, cracks manifest on the fracture surface, while matrix softening occurs at higher temperatures. Additionally, in the context of strain rate–temperature coupling, the decreasing trend of both tensile strength and tensile fracture stress decelerates as the temperature ranges from −25 °C to 75 °C at a strain rate of 10−1, compared to 10−4 s−1. These findings highlight the significant influence of both strain rate and temperature on high fiber content long glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene composites.

Polycarbonate (PC) foam is a versatile material with excellent properties, but its low thermal stability limits its application in high-temperature environments. The aim of this study was to improve the thermal stability of PC foam by adding glass fibers (GF) and to investigate the effect of GF on PC crystallization behavior and PC foam cell morphology. This study was motivated by the need to improve the performance of PC foams in various industries, such as construction, automotive, and medical. To achieve this goal, PC/GF composites were prepared by extrusion, and PC/GF composite foams were produced using a batch foaming process with supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) as the blowing agent. The results showed that the addition of GF accelerated the SC-CO2-induced crystallization stability of PC and significantly increased the cell density to 4.6 cells/cm3. In addition, the thermal stability of PC/GF foam was improved, with a significant increase in the residual carbon rate at 700 °C and a lower weight loss rate than PC matrix. Overall, this study highlights the potential of GF as a PC foam reinforcement and its effect on thermal and structural properties, providing guidance for industrial production and applications.

Abstract Background Knowledge translation (KT) theories, frameworks, and models (TFMs) can help guide and explain KT processes, and facilitate the evaluation of implementation outcomes. They play a critical role in conducting KT research and practice. Currently, little is known about the usage of TFMs in KT in Chinese healthcare settings. The aim of this scoping review is to identify which TFMs had been used for KT in healthcare settings in China, and how these TFMs were used. Methods The protocol for this scoping review is in accordance with the Arksey and O’Malley framework and further enhanced by the recommendations suggested by Levac et al. We will search 8 databases (4 Chinese and 4 English) to identify relevant studies. Four reviewers (2 for Chinese, 2 for English) will independently screen studies based on the eligibility criteria. The basic characteristic of studies and the TFMs utilization (i.e., what, why, and how) will be extracted. Methodological quality and reporting quality will be assessed using the Mixed Method Appraisal Tool (MMAT) and the Standards for Reporting Implementation Studies (StaRI) (or Standards for Quality Improvement Reporting Excellence, SQUIRE 2.0 for quality improvement studies), respectively. All the retrieved TFMs will be categorized into Nilsen’s classifications of TFMs for KT research. We will employ the qualitative content analysis approach to summarize how these TFMs have been used, and the rationale. A consultation will be conducted through a 1-h interactive virtual meeting with an expert panel of knowledge users. Discussion By conducting this scoping review, we expect to gain a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of why and how TFMs have been used in KT research and practice in China, and to identify gaps and provide recommendations for more efficient and meaningful use of TFMs in the future. Summary: Background: Evidence-based practice (EBP) implementation plays a crucial role in bridging the knowledge-action gaps and reducing health inequities. Little is known about its development in China. This study aims to provide an overview of the EBP implementation research progress in healthcare in China and identify gaps for future studies. Methods: We conducted a scoping review following the Joanna Briggs Institute scoping review methodology and the Cochrane Collaboration's guidance on living reviews. We performed a literature search in four Chinese databases (i.e., China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wan Fang Database, The VIP Database, and China Biology Medicine) and three English databases (i.e., Ovid MEDLINE, the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, and EMBASE), Google scholar, and Baidu scholar from 1996 to 2021. We included EBP implementation studies conducted in healthcare settings in China and were published in Chinese and English literature. The search will be run on a regular basis to monitor the development of new literature and determine when to update the review. Findings: Of the 11,276 records identified, we finally included 309 papers. The publications were on a sharp rise since 2013 and were predominantly from the nursing field (292/309, 94.50%). The commonly researched areas were symptom management (75/309, 24.27%), tube care (46/309, 14.89%), perioperative care (43/309, 13.92%), and fundamental care (43/309, 13.92%). Joanna Briggs Institute model was the most frequently used model to guide the implementation process (92/159, 59.75%). A median number of 8 people often comprised an implementation team, with 113 studies (36.57%) taking a multidisciplinary approach. 204 studies reported utilizing audit criteria to assist evaluation of evidence implementation rate with diversified methods measuring the criteria. Lack of knowledge, skills, and resources, and incomplete procedures or pathways were top barriers impeding EBP implementation. Leadership support was considered the most common facilitator. Education and training were the most frequently described implementation strategies for healthcare professionals and patients. Optimizing workflows and developing evaluation tools were the primary strategies adopted by organizations. 291 studies measured patient outcomes and 174 studies measured healthcare professional outcomes. Interpretation: To our knowledge, this scoping review is the first one to systematically examine the EBP implementation research progress in healthcare in China. Based on this review, we identified contributions that Chinese EBP implementation research made to the global community, and provided eight recommendations for Chinese researchers in conducting implementation studies in the future. Abstract Background This aim of this study was to explore the role of regulation on the quality of care of older people living with depression in LTC, which in this paper is a domestic environment providing 24-h care for people with complex health needs and increased vulnerability. Methods We conducted a systematic scoping review. A peer reviewed search strategy was developed in consultation with a specialist librarian. Several databases were searched to identify relevant studies including: Embase (using the OVID platform); MEDLINE (using the OVID platform); Psych info (using the OVID platform); Ageline (using the EBSCO platform); and CINHAL (using the EBSCO platform). Articles were screened by three reviewers with conflicts resolved in consultation with authors. Data charting was completed by one reviewer, with a quality check performed by a second reviewer. Key themes were then derived from the included studies. Results The search yielded 778 unique articles, of which 20 were included. Articles were grouped by themes: regulatory requirements, funding issues, and organizational issues. Conclusion The highly regulated environment of LTC poses significant challenges which can influence the quality of care of residents with depression. Despite existing evidence around prevalence and improved treatment regimens, regulation appears to have failed to capture the best practice and contemporary knowledge available. This scoping review has identified a need for further empirical research to explore these issues.

Abstract Background In recent years, narrative practice has been applied in clinical settings to address the relational and psychological concerns that occur in tandem with physical illness. It is an emerging strategy to treat patients as individuals with their own stories, rather than purely based on symptoms. Objective To synthesize the experience of patients with cancer using narrative practice. Methods Following a systematic search strategy, a literature search was conducted to identify qualitative studies on the experience of patients with cancer using narrative practice. Nine databases were searched up to April 2018, which included six English databases and three Chinese databases. A meta‐synthesis was conducted to synthesize the findings of the included studies. Main Results Seven studies out of 2894 studies were included in this review. Patients with cancer had different preferences on narrative practices. In terms of the impacts of narrative practice on patients with cancer, six themes were identified, which included ‘(a) reducing the gap between patients and clinicians; (b) healing effect; (c) social connection; (d) facilitating self‐reflection, self‐recognition and self‐realization; (e) risk of negative impacts; and (f) Patients' preference on different approaches of narrative practice’. Conclusions Patients with cancer experienced positive effects regarding narrative practice. Although some patients may experience negative effects, narrative practice is a humanized way to provide care for patients with cancer in the clinical settings.

We report on a comprehensive multiwavelength study of the pulsars in the globular cluster (GC) M5, including the discovery of M5G, a new compact noneclipsing “black widow” pulsar. Thanks to the analysis of 34 yr of radio data taken with the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope and Arecibo telescopes, we obtained new phase-connected timing solutions for four pulsars and improved those of the other three. These have resulted in, among other things, (a) much improved proper motions for five pulsars, with transverse velocities (relative to the cluster) that are smaller than their respective escape velocities; (b) 3 σ and 1.5 σ detections of Shapiro delays in M5F and M5D, respectively; and (c) greatly improved measurement of the periastron advance in M5B, whose value of $\dot{\omega }=0\buildrel{\circ}\over{.} 01361(6)$ implies that M5B is still likely to be a heavy ( ${m}_{p}={1.981}_{-0.088}^{+0.038}\,{M}_{\odot }$ ) neutron star. The binary pulsars M5D, M5E, and M5F are confirmed to be in low-eccentricity binary systems, the low-mass companions of which are newly identified to be He white dwarfs using Hubble Space Telescope data. Four pulsars are also found to be associated with X-ray sources. Similarly to the eclipsing pulsar M5C, M5G shows little or no nonthermal X-ray emission, indicative of weak synchrotron radiation produced by intrabinary shocks. Conventional immobilized nitrifying bacteria technologies are limited to fixed beds with regular shapes such as spheres and cubes. To achieve a higher mass transfer capacity, a complex-structured cultivate bed with larger specific surface areas is usually expected. Direct ink writing (DIW) 3D printing technology is capable of preparing fixed beds where nitrifying bacteria are embedded in without geometry limitations. Nevertheless, conventional bacterial carrier materials for sewage treatment tend to easily collapse during printing procedures. Here, we developed a novel biocompatible waterborne polyurethane acrylate (WPUA) with favorable mechanical properties synthesized by introducing amino acids. End-capped by hydroxyethyl acrylate and mixed with sodium alginate (SA), a dual stimuli-responsive ink for DIW 3D printers was prepared. A robust and insoluble crosslinking network was formed by UV-curing and ion-exchange curing. This dual-cured network with a higher crosslinking density provides better recyclability and protection for cryogenic preservation. The corresponding results show that the nitrification efficiency for printed bioreactors reached 99.9% in 72 h, which is faster than unprinted samples and unmodified WPUA samples. This work provides an innovative immobilization method for 3D printing bacterial active structures and has high potential for future sewage treatment.

Three-dimensional (3D) printing of continuous fiber-reinforced composites has been developed in recent decades as an alternative means to handle complex structures with excellent design flexibility and without mold forming. Although 3D printing has been increasingly used in the manufacturing industry, there is still room for the development of theories about how the process parameters affect microstructural properties to meet the mechanical requirements of the printed parts. In this paper, we investigated continuous carbon fiber-reinforced polyphenylene sulfide (CCF/PPS) as feedstock for fused deposition modeling (FDM) simulated by thermocompression. This study revealed that the samples manufactured using a layer-by-layer process have a high tensile strength up to 2041.29 MPa, which is improved by 68.8% compared with those prepared by the once-stacked method. Moreover, the mechanical–microstructure characterization relationships indicated that the compactness of the laminates is higher when the stacked CCF/PPS are separated, which can be explained based on both the void formation and the nanoindentation results. These reinforcements confirm the potential of remodeling the layer-up methods for the development of high-performance carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastics. This study is of great significance to the improvement of the FDM process and opens broad prospects for the aerospace industry and continuous fiber-reinforced polymer matrix materials.

Background: Since the completion of the Human Genome Project, health science has been strongly influenced by the advances in genetics and genomics. However, the progress of embracing genetics and genomics into nursing discipline is limited. One of the main barriers is lack of understanding on the relevancy of genetics and genomics to nursing discipline. Objectives: This paper aims to synthesize and develop a theoretical framework for the interaction of nursing discipline with genetics and genomics. Methods: Through content analysis and constant comparative method, a theoretical framework was developed from synthesis of the studies regarding nursing and genetics/genomics indexed in multiple English and Chinese databases. Results: Four main theoretical statements were constructed in the framework: 1) There are three ways to show how genetics and genomics can influence nursing discipline: a new specialty, new technologies and a new lens; 2) The significant contribution of nursing discipline to genetics and genomics lies in how nurses could focus on the association between human responses and genes and how nurses could advocate for their clients in the genetic and genomic era; 3) A paradigm shift occurs after a constant interaction of nursing discipline with genetics and genomics; 4) Implementation strategies could be used to facilitate the integration of genetics and genomics to nursing discipline and advance the paradigm shift. Conclusions: The framework will help to understand the relationship between nursing discipline and genetics and genomics and implicate the future studies integrating genetics and genomic science into nursing discipline. This paper reports on a sensor for monitoring bone plate strain in real time. The detected bone plate strain could be used for judging the healing state of fractures in patients. The sensor consists of a magnetoelastic material, which can be wirelessly connected and passively embedded. In order to verify the effectiveness of the sensor, a tibia-bone plate-screw (TBS) model was established using the finite element analysis method. A variation of the bone plate strain was obtained via this model. A goat hindquarter tibia was selected as the bone fracture model in the experiment. The tibia was fixed on a high precision load platform and an external force was applied. Bone plate strain variation during the bone fracture healing process was acquired with sensing coils. Simulation results indicated that bone plate strain decreases as the bone gradually heals, which is consistent with the finite element analysis results. This validated the soundness of the sensor reported here. This sensor has wireless connections, no in vivo battery requirement, and long-term embedding. These results can be used not only for clinical practices of bone fracture healing, but also for bone fracture treatment and rehabilitation equipment design.

Abstract This study investigates the correlation between dietary sialic acid intake which mainly come from eggs, red meat, and dairy products and serum HbA1c levels. A survey among Xiamen’s general population, China, collected dietary data from 2,908 participants over the past year. A semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) was employed. Sialic acid intake was calculated, along with measurements of biochemical indicators, including fasting blood glucose, HbA1c, blood lipids, and insulin.
