At present, compared with other antibiotic degradation systems, there are few literatures on pho- tocatalytic degradation of sulfadiazine (SDZ). In this research, it was firstly discovered that the oxygen-rich bismuth oxybromide (Bi24O31 Br10) photocatalyst can efficiently degrade SDZ under simulated sunlight. In this paper, the prepared Bi24O31Br10 photocatalyst by mixed solvothermal method represented outstanding photocatalytic performance. The catalyst synthesized at 120 °C and pH = 10 showed optimum degradation function in the samples prepared at various temperatures and pH value. After 3 h of irradiation, 96.2% of SDZ solution could be decomposed. The effects of preparation conditions, catalyst dosage, initial SDZ concentration and initial SDZ pH value on photocatalytic degradation efficiency were investigated systematically. Besides, the effect of active species was studied by trapping tests, and it was concluded that ‘O2 contributes the most to the photocatalytic process. A possible photocatalytic degradation mechanism was proposed.

As a typical type of persistent organic pollutant, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) is pervasive in the environment. Multiple studies have found that PFOA has hepatotoxicity, but the mechanism remains poorly understood. In this study, the toxic effects of different concentrations of PFOA on zebrafish liver cells were systematically assessed by recording cell survival, ultrastructural observations, and transcriptome analyses. The results showed that the inhibition of cell viability and the massive accumulation of autophagic vacuoles were observed at 400 µM PFOA, while transcriptomic changes occurred with treatments of 1 and 400 µM PFOA. The transcription levels of 1055 (977 up- and 78 down-regulated genes) and 520 (446 up- and 74 down-regulated genes) genes were significantly changed after treatment with 1 and 400 µM PFOA, respectively. Based on Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis, significant expression changes were observed in autophagy, tight junction, signal transduction, immune system, endocrine system, and metabolism-related pathways, indicating that such processes were greatly affected by PFOA exposure. The findings of this study will provide a scientific basis for the toxic effects and potential toxic mechanisms of PFOA on zebrafish, and provide information for ecological risk assessments.

Background. To determine if the use of the Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPI) impacts the clinical efficacy of Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors (ICIs) in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC), a meta-analysis was conducted. Method. Eleven studies from PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and other databases up to May 2022, were selected. The pertinent clinical outcomes were assessed by applying the Progression-free survival (PFS), Overall Survival (OS), Hazard Ratio (HR), and 95% Confidence Interval (CI). Result. This study included eleven articles containing 7,893 NSCLC patients. The result indicated that PPI use was dramatically related to poor OS (HR: 1.30 [1.10–1.54]), and poor PFS (HR: 1.25 [1.09–1.42]) in case of patients treated with ICIs. With regard to the subgroup analysis, PPI use was dramatically associated with poor OS (Europe: HR = 1.48 [1.26, 1.74], Worldwide: HR = 1.54 [1.24, 1.91]), and poor PFS (Europe: HR = 1.36 [1.18, 1.57], Worldwide: HR = 1.34 [1.16, 1.55]) in patients from Europe and multi-center studies across the world, poor OS in patients with age less than or equal to 65 (HR = 1.56 [1.14, 2.15]), poor PFS in patients aged more than 65 (HR = 1.36 [1.18, 1.57]), poor OS for patients receiving with PD-1 (HR = 1.37 [1.04, 1.79]), poor PFS for patients receiving with PD-L1 (HR = 1.33 [1.19, 1.49]), and poor OS (−30: HR = 1.89 [1.29, 2.78], ±30: HR = 1.44 [1.27, 1.64]) and poor PFS (−30: HR = 1.51 [1.11, 2.05], ±30: HR = 1.32 [1.20, 1.45]) for patients who received PPI at 30 days before and/or after starting the ICIs treatment. Conclusion. Our meta-analysis indicated that PPI combined with ICIs in the treatment of NSCLC patients could result in poor OS and PFS. PPI use should be extremely cautious in clinical practices to avoid the impact on the efficacy of the ICIs.

Oncogenic imbalance of DNA methylation is well recognized in cancer development. The ten-eleven translocation (TET) family of dioxygenases, which facilitates DNA demethylation, is frequently dysregulated in cancers. How such dysregulation contributes to tumorigenesis remains poorly understood, especially in solid tumors which present infrequent mutational incidence of TET genes. Here, we identify loss-of-function mutations of TET in 7.4% of human lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), which frequently co-occur with oncogenic KRAS mutations, and this co-occurrence is predictive of poor survival in LUAD patients. Using an autochthonous mouse model of KrasG12D-driven LUAD, we show that individual or combinational loss of Tet genes markedly promotes tumor development. In this Kras-mutant and Tet-deficient model, the premalignant lung epithelium undergoes neoplastic reprogramming of DNA methylation and transcription, with a particular impact on Wnt signaling. Among the Wnt-associated components that undergo reprogramming, multiple canonical Wnt antagonizing genes present impaired expression arising from elevated DNA methylation, triggering aberrant activation of Wnt signaling. These impairments can be largely reversed upon the restoration of TET activity. Correspondingly, genetic depletion of beta-catenin, the transcriptional effector of Wnt signaling, substantially reverts the malignant progression of Tet-deficient LUAD. These findings reveal TET enzymes as critical epigenetic barriers against lung tumorigenesis and highlight the therapeutic vulnerability of TET-mutant lung cancer through targetingWnt signaling.

Nuclear receptor Nur77 participates in multiple metabolic regulations and plays paradoxical roles in tumorigeneses. Herein, we demonstrated that the knockout of Nur77 stimulated mammary tumor development in two mouse models, which would be reversed by a specific reexpression of Nur77 in mammary tissues. Mechanistically, Nur77 interacted and recruited corepressors, the SWI/SNF complex, to the promoters of CD36 and FABP4 to suppress their transcriptions, which hampered the fatty acid uptake, leading to the inhibition of cell proliferation. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPARγ) played an antagonistic role in this process through binding to Nur77 to facilitate ubiquitin ligase Trim13-mediated ubiquitination and degradation of Nur77. Cocrystallographic and functional analysis revealed that Csn-B, a Nur77-targeting compound, promoted the formation of Nur77 homodimer to prevent PPARγ binding by steric hindrance, thereby strengthening the Nur77’s inhibitory role in breast cancer. Therefore, our study reveals a regulatory function of Nur77 in breast cancer via impeding fatty acid uptake.

Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) was synthesized via hydrothermal process under the assistance of citric acid, which exhibited high photocatalytic property in the application of methylene blue (MB) degradation. The flower ball microstructure of MoS2 changed with different amounts of citric acid. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscope (SEM), UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra have been employed to characterize the samples. It improved the photocatalytic efficiency nearly 19.77% compared to MoS2 without citric acid. When H2O2 was added, the synergistic effect of MoS2 and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was observed in photocatalytic reaction system, which degraded MB completely within 40 min under visible light irradiation.

Purpose: To investigate the clinical manifestations of orbital involvement in a large cohort of Chinese patients with IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD). Methods: A total of 573 patients with IgG4-related disease were included. We described and compared the demographic, clinical, laboratory and histopathologic findings from 314 patients with IgG4-related ophthalmic disease (IgG4-ROD) and 259 with extra-ophthalmic IgG4-RD.Results: Male predominance was found significant in extra-ophthalmic IgG4-RD only. Patients with IgG4-ROD showed younger age at diagnosis and longer duration from onset till diagnosis. In patients with extra-ophthalmic IgG4-RD, the most commonly involved extra-ophthalmic organ was pancreas; while in IgG4-ROD patients, salivary gland was most frequently affected. Multivariate analysis exhibited IgG4-ROD was associated with allergy history, higher serum IgG4/IgG ratio, multiple organs involvement and sialoadenitis. Orbital images were reviewed in 173 (55.1%) IgG4-ROD patients. Fifty-one (29.5%) patients had multiple lesions. Lacrimal gland involvement was detected in 151 (87.3%) patients, followed by extraocular muscles (40, 23.1%), other orbital soft tissue (40, 23.1%) and trigeminal nerve (8, 4.6%). Biopsy was performed from various organs in 390 cases. A dense lymphoplasmacytic infiltration and fibrosis were the main feature in orbital specimens. Storiform fibrosis and obliterative phlebitis were absent in lacrimal gland.Conclusions: Lacrimal gland involvement was the most common orbital manifestation of IgG4-ROD. Patients with IgG4-ROD showed different characteristic in demographic, clinical, laboratory findings compared to patients with extra-ophthalmic IgG4-RD. These features might indicate potential differences in the pathogenesis of these two subgroups of IgG4-RD.

To reveal differences in the pattern of trabecular architecture in the epiphysis and metaphysis of the proximal tibia. The trabecular architecture of the proximal tibia was observed in 27 P45 plastinated knee specimens. In the medial and lateral condyles, under the articular cartilage surrounded by the medial or lateral meniscus, the cancellous bone is formed by thick and dense trabecular bands, which run longitudinally in the epiphysis and then pass through the epiphyseal line to terminate on the slanted cortex of the metaphysis. In the intercondylar eminence, the trabeculae are arranged basically in a network. In the central portion of the tibial metaphysis, cancellous bone consists of fine arcuate trabeculae, which extend to the anterior and posterior cortices, respectively. These trabeculae are intersected sparsely and form trusses over the medullary cavity. Near the areas of attachment of the iliotibial tract, tibial collateral ligament, anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments, and patellar ligament, the cancellous bone is locally reinforced with patchy trabeculae, dense radiating trabeculae, or two orthotropic trabecular bands. This study provides further accurate anatomical information on the trabeculae of the proximal tibia. The soft structures of knee joint, including the articular cartilage, menisci, and ligaments, and the slanted cortices of the metaphysis are important landmarks for the location of different arrangements of the cancellous architecture. The present results are beneficial for clinical diagnosis and treatment of pathologies of the knee joint, or the establishment of a finite element analysis model of the knee joint.

Background. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common malignancies worldwide. Ferroptosis is a programmed, iron-dependent cell death observed in cancer cells. However, the prognostic potential and immunotherapy biomarker potential of ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) in CRC patients remains to be clarified. Methods. At first, we comprehensively analysed the different expression and prognosis of related FRGs in CRC patients based on TCGA cohort. The relationship between functional enrichment of these genes and immune microenvironment in CRC was investigated using the TCGA database. Prognostic model was constructed to determine the association between FRGs and the prognosis of CRC. Relative verification was done based on the GEO database. Meanwhile, the ceRNA network of FRGs in the model was also performed to explore the regulatory mechanisms. Results. Eight differentially expressed FRGs were associated with the prognosis of CRC patients. Patients from the TCGA database were classified into the A, B, and C FRG clusters with different features. And FRG scores were constructed to quantify the FRG pattern of individual patients with colorectal cancer. The CRC patients with higher FRG score showed worse survival outcomes, higher immune dysfunction, and lower response to immunotherapy. The prognostic model showed a high accuracy for predicting the OS of CRC. Finally, a ceRNA network was analysed to show the concrete regulation mechanisms of critical FRGs in CRC. Conclusions. The FRG risk score prognostic model based on 8 FRGs exhibit superior predictive performance, providing a novel prognostic model with a high accuracy for CRC patients. Moreover, FRG score can be the potential biomarker of the response of immunotherapy for CRC.

A long term space station operational scenario involves a large number of on-orbit missions, however, for their successful implementation they require various logistics missions to be performed. Logistics missions are triggered by on-orbit missions and there are complex interactions between different missions. Based on the computational efficiency afforded by event-based simulation, Discrete Event Simulation (DES) is used to model diverse on-orbit and logistics missions holistically within an integrated scenario and schematize it as a discrete system. It helps to quickly evaluate the physical feasibility and performance effectiveness of complex space station operations. Moreover, operational uncertainty is introduced into the DES model, comprising launch delays of visiting vehicles and onboard emergencies hazarding the safeties of space station or astronauts. Monte Carlo simulation is adopted to help in stochastic analyses and five measurable metrics are further defined to quantify the impact of uncertainty on nominal scenarios. The proposed DES model and associated metrics are demonstrated with both nominal and contingency operations. Simulation results indicate that such an approach is effective and efficient in simulating space station operations and able to support the top-level mission design of China's future space station program.

Tumor-derived extracellular vesicles are important mediators of cell-to-cell communication during tumorigenesis. Here, we demonstrated that hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)-derived ectosomes remodel the tumor microenvironment to facilitate HCC progression in an ectosomal PKM2-dependent manner. HCC-derived ectosomal PKM2 induced not only metabolic reprogramming in monocytes but also STAT3 phosphorylation in the nucleus to upregulate differentiation-associated transcription factors, leading to monocyte-to-macrophage differentiation and tumor microenvironment remodeling. In HCC cells, sumoylation of PKM2 induced its plasma membrane targeting and subsequent ectosomal excretion via interactions with ARRDC1. The PKM2-ARRDC1 association in HCC was reinforced by macrophage-secreted cytokines/chemokines in a CCL1-CCR8 axis-dependent manner, further facilitating PKM2 excretion from HCC cells to form a feedforward regulatory loop for tumorigenesis. In the clinic, ectosomal PKM2 was clearly detected in the plasma of HCC patients. This study highlights a mechanism by which ectosomal PKM2 remodels the tumor microenvironment and reveals ectosomal PKM2 as a potential diagnostic marker for HCC.

Two triphenylamine or carbazole-based benzothiadiazole luminophors have been successfully synthesized and characterized. Interestingly, both the donor-acceptor-donor (D-A-D) type compounds 1 and 2 exhibited remarkable solvatochromism behavior. In addition, luminogen 1 showed reversible mechanochromism phenomenon involving red-shifted fluorescent color transformation from yellow to red. However, luminogen 2 showed switchable mechanochromism behavior involving blue-shifted fluorescent color change from yellow to yellow-green.

The runoff components were identified in the headwater area of Shule River Basin, using isotopic and chemical tracing with particular focus on the temporal variations of catchment sources. A total of 95 samples, including precipitation, groundwater, and glacial meltwater, were collected and analyzed for stable water isotopes (18O and2H) and major chemical ion parameters (potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, sulfate, chloride, and bicarbonate). Based on the isotope and water chemistry data, we applied end member mixing analysis (EMMA) to identify and quantify the major runoff generating sources and their contributions. The contributions of groundwater, precipitation, and glacial meltwater were 66.7%, 19.9%, and 13.4%, respectively. The study indicated that groundwater dominated runoff in the headwater area of Shule River Basin. The roles of glacier meltwater should be remarkable in water resource management in this basin. The uncertainties of the EMMA method were summarized and estimated via a classical Gaussian error propagation technique. Analyses suggested that the uncertainty in the measurement method was less important than that in the temporal and spatial variations of tracer concentrations. The uncertainty was sensitive when the difference between mixing components was small. Therefore, the variation of tracers and the difference of mixing components should be considered when hydrograph separation was applied in the basin.

To analyze the hydrochemical characteristics of river water and snow meltwater during snow-melting period in the Kayiertesi River, the headwaters of the Ertis River, samples of river water and meltwater were collected every day during March and April, 2014. Furthermore, the combination of descriptive statistics, Gibbs Figure and Piper Triangular diagrams of anions and cations were used for hydrochemical analyses. The results showed that the major ion compositions and hydrochemical types were significantly different between river water and snow meltwater. The total dissolved solid (TDS) in the river water ranged from 24.9 to 50.3 mg · L⁻¹. The major cations of river water were Ca²⁺ and Na⁺, accounting for 61% and 17% of the total cation equivalent concentration, respectively. Meanwhile, HCO₃⁻ constituted about 95% of the total anions concentration. The hydrochemical type of river water was HCO₃⁻-Ca²⁺. The chemical composition of river water samples located in the middle with a deviation to left of Gibbs model, indicating that the major chemical process of river water was controlled by rock weath ring and precipitation but rock weathering played a more important role.

Summary Stereo-tomography is a distinctive tomography method. The theory and application of isotropic stereo-tomography have been fully developed in the past two decades. In this paper, we apply the ray perturbation theory to the 2D quasi-acoustic eikonal equation for VTI media from whci the linear relation between the stereo-tomographic data components and the model components for qP-wave is derived. Thus the theoretical foundation of 2D VTI stereotomography based on 2D quasi-acoustic eikonal equation is established. When compared with the previous anisotropic stereo-tomography which has been derived in general anisotropic media, the kinematic information of converted wave mode and the polarization vectors are not necessarily taken into account as a data component thus the applicability of the presented method is promising. The sensitivity analysis and two synthetic data example demonstrate the correctness of the derived Frechet derivatives and the applicability of the presented work-flow.

Electron beam radiolysis experiments were undertaken to gain insights into the kinetic mechanisms of diethyl phthalate (DEP) degradation in aqueous solutions. DEP degradation was found to follow pseudo-first-order kinetics. The pseudo-first-order rate constant decayed exponentially with DEP initial concentrations (C0), whereas G values of DEP and C0 followed linear relationship. Addition of sodium carbonate to irradiated DEP solutions reduced DEP decomposition. H2O2 was not favorable for removal of DEP. An effective degradation was achieved in both N2O-saturated and t-BuOH–containing N2-saturated DEP solutions. High removals (>99%) were achieved at 15 kGy without these radical scavengers. Radical scavenging tests indicated that both •OH and e−aq played significant roles in DEP radiolysis. Several intermediates such as monoethyl phthalate, phthalate acid, and short-chain aliphatic carboxylic acids were formed from DEP radiolytic degradation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the potential of electron beam to decompose chloramphenicol (CAP) in aqueous solutions. At the absorbed dose of 15 kGy, the decomposition rate of CAP was 95.24%. The degradation of CAP under electron beam irradiation followed pseudo-first-order kinetics. Redox reactions of CAP aqueous solutions with hydroxy1 radicals (·OH), hydrated electrons (e aq − ) and hydrated atoms (·H) were studied. The increase of the additives would result in the decrease of the degradation efficiency. The concentration of Cl− and NO 3 − in aqueous solution increased after electron beam irradiation. On the basis of the experimental results, a photocatalytic mechanism was discussed. The rate constant for reactions of ·OH and CAP was 9.36×107 L/(mol·s) and for reaction of e aq − and CAP was 7.33×107 L/(mol·s). ·OH was supposed to play the key role in the radiation system of aqueous solution. Other free radicals like e aq − and ·H could also initiate the degradation.

This study is concerned with the effects of di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) on two kinds of duckweeds (Spirodela polyrhiza and Lemna minor). The results indicate that DEHP has aquatic toxicity to Spirodela polyrhiza at 0.4 mg/L and to Lemna minor at over 0.1 mg/L by changing their physiologic-biochemical characteristics. The contents of duckweed chlorophyll and soluble protein decrease with increasing DEHP concentration after 7 d of exposure. DEHP shows the stimulating role in catalase (CAT) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) systems at relative low levels. At 0.01 mg/L and 0.005 mg/L, SOD activities of Spirodela polyrhiza and Lemna minor reach their peak values respectively, while CAT activity reaches its maximum value at 0.05 mg/L and 0.01 mg/L. When DEHP levels are too high, the protection enzyme system would be destroyed and plant growth is inhibited. The analysis of malondialdehyde (MDA) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy manifest that DEHP could affect the tested duckweeds by destroying its cell membranes, and Spirodela polyrhiza is more resistant to DEHP exposure than Lemna minor.

To analyze the major ion chemistry of water in the upper reach of the Shule River Basin and possible controls, samples of river water, groundwater, precipitation, melt water were collected and methods including descriptive statistics, Gibbs Figure, Piper Triangular diagrams of anions and cations were comprehensive used. Results showed that the major ion compositions and hydrochemical types were significantly different in different waters such as stream water, groundwater and precipitation. The total dissolved solid (TDS) in the river water ranges between 51.7 to 432. 3 mgL-1 with an average of 177.7 mgL-1. The major cations of river water are Ca2+ and Mg2+, accounting for 45% and 31% of the cations respectively. Meanwhile, HCO(3)- constituted about 75% of the anions. The hydrochemical type of river water is HCO(-)(3)-Ca2+-Mg2+. Owing to the interaction between the river and layer, the concentration of SO(2-)4 is relatively higher. Comparing major ion concentrations of the river water with local groundwater and precipitation, concentrations of the river water ranged between precipitation and groundwater but were much closer to the concentration of groundwater, indicating that the surface water was recharged by a mixture of precipitation and groundwater while groundwater is dominant. The chemical composition of surface water samples located in the middle and a bit upper of Gibbs model, which indicates that the major chemical process of river water is controlled by rock weathering and evaporation-crystallization but rock weathering plays a much more important role.

The objective of this research is to discuss the feasibility of selecting soft tissue elasticity as the objective evaluating indicator of the neck type of cervical spondylosis. This article reviews the evaluation indicators currently used treatment of cervical syndrome achievement. Through comparative study, the authors believe the soft tissue elasticity can be more objective evaluation of cervical syndrome treatment results.

This article introduces the clinical experience of three-step ladder therapy of Professor Fu on gouty arthritis. In accordance with the overall syndrome and Meridian dialectical combined with the disease clinical feature, Professor Fu cures gouty arthritis from the start of pain. The first step is the application of eye acupuncture and body acupuncture in order to rapidly relieve the patient's pain; The second step is the application of moxibustion, fire needle and blood-letting puncture to enhance the efficacy; The third step is the buried intradermal needle to solidate long-term efficacy. The radiolysis of the steroid 17β-estradiol (E2), an endocrine disrupting hormone which is commonly released into aquatic environments, was investigated in aqueous solutions using electron beam. The degradation of E2 was found to follow pseudo-first-order kinetics. Experiments performed with ace toneitrile/water and ethanol/water demonstrated the role of 'OH was predominant in E2 degradation and the reductive species made minor contributions to E2 degradation. Acidic or alkaline conditions were more favorable for the removal of E2 than neutral conditions. At pH 9.1 and 4.9, the degradation value of E2 was 88.3% and 79.4% at the dose of 10 kGy, respectively, while at the same dose, at pH 6.8, a reduction of 53.4% was only achieved. Addition of appropriate amounts of H 2 O 2 also facilitated the degradation of E2.

In this paper, the transient absorbance spectra and kinetics characteristics of DBP are studied in 266nm laser flash photolysis with three different mixed solvents. The transient species, assigned to DBP excited triplet, with maximum absorption at 300nm were observed in deoxidation system meanwhile its decay process accelerated obviously in O2-statured system. By changing the concentration of DBP a series of observed decay rate constants were obtained and the self-quenching rate constants of DBP excited triplet were determined to be 4.5×107, 3.0×107 and 2.2×107 mol-1 s-1 L for ethanol/water, methanol/water and acetonitrile/water systems and self-decay rate constants to be 0.96×105s-1, 1.25×105s-1 and 1.33×105s-1, respectively. It revealed that the properties of DBP excited triplet have some relationship with the dielectric constants of solvents.
