Jackfruit is one of the major tropical fruits, but information on the phytochemicals and biological benefits of its pulp is limited. In this study, the phytochemicals and biological activities including antioxidant, antitumor and anti-inflammatory activities of five jackfruit pulp cultivars (M1, M2, M3, M7 and T5) were comparatively investigated. A total of 11 compounds were identified in all cultivars of jackfruit pulp, among which 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, caffeic acid, ferulic acid and tryptophan N-glucoside were reported for the first time in jackfruit. T5 exhibited the highest total phenolic content (7.69 ± 0.73 mg GAE/g DW), antioxidant capacity (109.8, 96.7 and 207 mg VCE/g DW for DPPH, ABTS and FRAP, respectively), antitumor activity (80.31%) and anti-inflammatory activity (78.44%) among five cultivars. These results can provide a reference for growers to choose jackfruit cultivar and offer an insight into the industrial application of jackfruit pulp derived-products.

Endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) are immature endothelial cells that participate in vascular repair and postnatal neovascularization and provide a novel and promising therapy for the treatment of vascular disease. Studies in different animal models have shown that EPC mobilization through pharmacological agents and autologous EPC transplantation contribute to restoring blood supply and tissue regeneration after ischemic injury. However, these effects of the progenitor cells in clinical studies exhibit mixed results. The therapeutic efficacy of EPCs is closely associated with the number of the progenitor cells recruited into ischemic regions and their functional abilities and survival in injury tissues. In this review, we discussed the regulating role of stromal cell-derived factor-1 (also known CXCL12, SDF-1) in EPC mobilization, recruitment, homing, vascular repair and neovascularization, and analyzed the underlying machemisms of these functions. Application of SDF-1 to improve the regenerative function of EPCs following vascular injury was also discussed. SDF-1 plays a crucial role in mobilizing EPC from bone marrow into peripheral circulation, recruiting the progenitor cells to target tissue and protecting against cell death under pathological conditions; thus improve EPC regenerative capacity. SDF-1 are crucial for regulating EPC regenerative function, and provide a potential target for improve therapeutic efficacy of the progenitor cells in treatment of vascular disease.

Background: Oral cancer (OC) is one of the malignant diseases with high morbidity and mortality worldwide. The prognosis of OC patients has not improved with the development of technology, and treatment outcomes are still particularly poor. Therefore, we screened immune-related genes (IRGs) to construct a risk model for the prognosis of OC patients.Methods: We downloaded and analyzed the clinical materials and gene coexpression network of a total of 321 OC samples from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) OC dataset. Stromal and immune scores and tumor purity were calculated based on Estimation of STromal and Immune cells in MAlignant Tumour tissues using Expression data. In addition, CIBERSORT and single-sample Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (ssGSEA) were applied to analyze the immune infiltration in each TCGA-OC cohort. Then we used the R package NbClust to divide the samples into two immune subtypes (S1 and S2). The control group was S2, and the treatment group was S1. Differences in genetic screening conditions were | a fold change | > 2 and FDR < 0.01. We obtained and analyzed 1111 IRGs from the two immune subtypes based on the ImmPort database. Then, 18 IRGs were selected from the 1111 IRGs for further analysis through the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) and univariate Cox regression analysis. Next, CCL22, CCL21, CD79A, CTLA4, MS4A2 and MS4A1 were screened out through the multivariate Cox regression analysis to develop a precise IRG prognosis risk model (IRGPRM) with area under curves (AUCs) of 0.639, 0.620 and 0.586 after 1, 3and 5 years, respectively. We divided the samples into high-risk and low-risk groups using the IRGPRM. Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to determine the survival rate of the two subtypes. The expression data of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma samples were downloaded from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database to test the prognosis capability of the IRGPRM.Results: A six IRGPRM was established. Based on the model, TCGA-OC cohorts and testing sets were divided into high-risk and low-risk groups. The Kaplan-Meier analysis indicated poor overall survival (OS) in the high-risk group. Furthermore, the TIMMER analysis demonstrated that the expression of CCL22, CCL21, CD79A, CTLA4, MS4A2 and MS4A1 was positively correlated with the immune infiltration level based on the Tumor Immune Estimation Resource (TIMER) database. In addition, a nomogram based on risk score and clinical stage showed good calibration and moderate discrimination.Conclusions: Our findings suggest that this model can be a prognostic indicator for OC patients.

The migration and transformation of N in zigzag char-N with the presence of high concentration NO in the reduction zone is investigated by quantum chemistry method. Transformation characteristics of N in lean oxygen environment are systematically calculated from the molecular level by constructing a char-N model containing a hydroxyl group. The results show that NO in the reduction zone can combine with N in the char to form N2; and the presence of oxygen enhances the char chemical activity and further promotes the release of N in the char. The co-existence of oxygen and NO in the reduction zone makes the release of N and the combustion of C occur simultaneously, which is manifested by NO and N in the char combining to form N2, and at the same time oxygen and C in the char formation CO2 or CO. The kinetic calculations of the rate-limiting step rate constants of the C combustion products show that C is easily oxidized to CO under low temperature and lean oxygen conditions, and with the temperature rise the CO2 generation rate increases significantly and the high temperature is conducive to CO2 formation.

Two-dimensional oriented scaffolds bear spatial limitation to regenerate three-dimensional (3D) tissues despite showing the ability to guide cell alignment and elongation. By combining solid phase extrusion (SPE) of co-continuous blends with phase removal, we prepared an interconnected 3D porous poly(e-caprolactone) (PCL) scaffold with oriented pores. To better regulate structure of these distinctive scaffolds, structural evolution of co-continuous blends in the convergent die during SPE was investigated in this study. Morphological observation manifested that the elongation deformation of co-continuous blends proceeded along the extrusion direction in the converging die continuously. Due to the extrusion temperature below the melting point of the matrices, the aligned co-continuous phase was maintained to form the uniformly oriented pores after phase extraction. Unlike consecutive deformation of phase morphology, the change in the crystalline structure of PCL involved two stages divided by the critical deformation distance (∼10 mm). At stage I ( 10 mm), organized PCL lamellae formed along the extrusion direction as a result of crystal fragmentation and rearrangement. On the basis of anterior cognition, effects of processing parameters on porous morphology were further explored. It was revealed that extrusion draw ratio and annealing time were more effective to regulate pore orientation and size of aligned porous scaffolds than extrusion temperature. The tunable morphological structure of biomimetic scaffolds is of vital importance to broaden their applications for tissue repair.

Constructing oriented porous architecture in the scaffolds offers the basis for mimicking the structure of highly organized tissues. In the current work, we attempted to fabricate three-dimensional (3D), oriented porous poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) scaffolds by water extracting polyethylene oxide (PEO) from the oriented PCL/PEO co-continuous blends. Solid phase extrusion was imposed to the bulk co-continuous blends so as to align both PCL and PEO phases along the extrusion direction, where coarsening of binary blends was impeded due to control over the extrusion temperature below their melting points. Thus, fully interconnected (connectivity: ~100%) aligned pores with uniform size were generated in the PCL porous scaffold after PEO extraction. Intriguingly, in vitro bone marrow stem cell staining results showed that such a porous scaffold with anisotropic structure exhibited very high ability to guide cellular alignment and elongation compared to the regular one with isotropic structure. The enabling strategy provides a versatile, scalable and tissue-friendly route to construct the 3D porous scaffolds with highly interconnected aligned pores, which is promising for the use in tissue repair. Effects of varied bioactive fillers on the biological behavior of porous polymer/inorganic composite scaffolds are lack of comprehensive comparison and remain elusive. Moreover, composite scaffolds with high porosity suffer from inferior mechanical performance. Herein, high-pressure molding and salt leaching were employed to prepare poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) composite porous scaffolds loaded with hydroxyapatite (HA) and bioactive glass (BG), respectively. Structural analysis indicated all the porous scaffolds presented interconnected open-pore structure with the porosity of ~87% and pore size of ~180 μm, hinging on the amounts and size of porogen. Compared to PCL/HA scaffolds, PCL/BG scaffolds showed ~2.3-fold augment in the water absorption. Attributing to the compact framework, the PCL/HA and PCL/BG porous scaffolds exhibited outstanding compressive modulus, which was notably higher than other PCL composite porous scaffolds reported in literatures. Cells culture results demonstrated that PCL/BG scaffolds displayed higher expression of osteogenic differentiation than PCL and PCL/HA scaffolds. Furthermore, in vivo results showed that more mature bone was formed within PCL/BG scaffolds than PCL/HA scaffolds, manifesting that the introduction of BG accelerated cranial bone regeneration to obtain complete bone healing within a short time. Many reports have claimed that high lung cancer mortality rate in Xuanwei is associated with the residential coal combustion. Considering iron is the main chemical element in the particles emitted from Xuanwei coal combustion, and especially, reactive oxygen species (ROS) could be generated by redox-active transition metals (TM) such as iron (Fe) in particles, therefore, raw coal samples from 4 coal mines in Xuanwei were sampled, and size-resolved particles emitted from the raw coal samples were collected by using of Andersen Five-stage High Volume Sampler. Species of iron in the raw coal sample, size-resolved particles and bottom ashes were analyzed by BCR sequential extraction method (community bureau of reference, BCR). The generation potential of·OH free radicals from coal emission particles in the surrogate lung fluid (SLF) solution was measured by using high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC). Our results demonstrated that a large fraction of oxidizable Fe could be found in raw coal samples. However, the acid extractable, reducible and oxidizable fractions of Fe in the fly ash particles accounted for a large proportion (46%-78%) in the size-resolved particles after coal combustion. There was difference in levels of·OH free radicals generated from coal emission particles in the SLF for 24 hours among particles with different sizes. The concentration of·OH increased in both fine particles (1 μm, 1.1-2 μm, 2-3.3 μm) and coarse particles (3.3-7 μm,7 μm) as the particles size decreased. Concrete bridges on high-speed railway are usually constructed with high strength concrete. Because of shrinkage of concrete, large stress and deformation always appear in construction and operation process of bridges. It even leads to concrete cracking. So as to guarantee the safety of structures and smoothness of tracks, correct calculation of concrete shrinkage effect must be done. Concrete shrinkage effect is a very complex non-stress strain problem which is influenced by numerous factors and difficult to calculate. According to the factors considered from different emphasis aspects, a variety of patterns or specifications are formed based on different domestic and foreign models of concrete shrinkage calculation. Combined with the construction of Jiangshan Harbor Bridge (75+2×135+75) m prestressed concrete continuous beam bridge on Hangzhou-Changsha high-speed railway, concrete shrinkage field tests and measurements were carried in which the same mix of high strength concrete as that of the bridge was used. The results of tests and measurements were compared with results of different theoretical models. The effects of high strength concrete shrinkage on high-speed railway concrete bridges were studied and some useful conclusions were obtained.

As the key parts to fuel cells, proton conducting electrolytes decides the performance of fuel cells. SiO2-P2O5-TiO2based glasses have been prepared by a sol-gel process in this experiment. Through TG、 XRD and SEM analysis, it was found that the membrane was existed in the form of amorphous structure. And most of the pores were in micro-pores of size less than 10μm. By the results of resistance, the conductivities were obtained by calculation. The influence of temperature to conductivity was discussed in detail. It was found that the conductivity was increased with the increased temperature .The membrane showed overall conductivities greater than 10-2S·cm-1at 2000Hz in the temperature range of 70~140°C.

The sisal cellulose was dissolved in ILs under optimal conditions of 150°C and 400W. The structure of sisal cellulose was changed from cellulose I to cellulose II, accompanied with the decrease of crystallinity through XRD, FT-IR analysis. According to the result of GPC, molecular weight distribution became more uniformly and narrow. This is because intra-and inter-hydrogen bond existed in cellulose were destroyed during the dissolution process in ILs. And the regenerated cellulose possessed better properties than the former, which could broaden the application fields of natural cellulose.

Due to the intermolecular and intramolecular strong hydrogen bonds, cellulose possesses high crystallinity, hardly dissolves in ordinary solvents. In the meanwhile, the cellulose, hemicelluloses and lignin were woven into compact structure, that is one of the reasons that natural cellulose poorly soluble in water and other organic solvent [1] Swatloski et al in 2002 first explicitly pointed out that ionic liquid, 1 - butyl 3 - methyl imidazole chloride salt ([Bmim]Cl) had good solubility of cellulose. The ionic liquids, with their excellent physical and chemical property, cause more and more concerns of people increasingly [2].You can take advantage of the ionic liquid ([Bmim]Cl) good solubility of cellulose by microwave heating way to dissolve cellulose in ionic liquids [3] [4]. As a new type of high-efficient green solvent, ionic liquid has unique properties, which is different from the traditional solvent. The highly effective and safe homogeneous treatment of pineapple leaf cellulose under microwave irradiation was reported in this paper. The rheological properties of pineapple leaf cellulose / [BMIM]Cl had a great change after the high pressure homogenization (HPH). Effect of high pressure homogenization on the rheological properties of pineapple leaf cellulose / [BMIM]Cl solution was investigated by rotational rheometer MARS III Haake (Germany).

In this study, the pineapple leaf cellulose membrane was prepared after being dissolved in ionic liquid (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([Bmim]Cl)) and high pressure microfluidization process. The chemical morphology and structure of cellulose membrane were measured by scanning electron microscope (SEM), fourier transformed infrared spectra (FT-IR), extension test and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Resules indicated that after microfluidizer, the surface of membrane became smoother, however the tensile strength and thermal stability of cellulose membrane was decreased due to the shearing action of microfluidizer. This would broad the application of cellulose membrane widely.

Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) is a rapid sample preparation in volatile analysis. The aromatic volatile compositions of ‘Kuerle’ were analyzed using SPME and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The effect of different types of fibers, extraction time, and extraction temperature on the volatile results were compared and discussed. The results were as followed. Results showed that 65μm PDMS/DVB fiber had the best effect of extraction. The optimum factors such as extraction time and temperature were 45 min and 40°C.

Three principal mango cultivars (Yuexi No.1, Tainong No.1 and Guifei) grown in Guangdong province in China were selected, and their chemical composition, nutritional ingredients including fatty acid and amino acid, and bioactive compounds such as phenolics and flavonoids were characterized and compared. The results showed the mango seeds had high moisture content (64.74-71.84%) and crude fibre content (50.86-60.62%), and the seeds of Yuexi No.1 had the lowest content of protein (1.21%), total lipid (1.47%), total sugar (2.79%), and highest content of Ca (537.02 mg/100 g), Na (22.60 mg/100 g), Zn (6.13 mg/100 g), Fe (17.02 mg/100 g) compared with the other two cultivars. The total amino acid (AA) in Guifei seeds (4.33%) was the highest, but the proportion of essential AA was the lowest. Seven fatty acid compounds were found in the three varieties. Moreover, Tainong No.1 had highest content of total phenolics (10.82%) followed with Guifei (1.86%) and Yuexi No.1 (1.06%), while the flavonoid content of Tainong No.1 was 2.71%, higher than Yuexi No.1 (0.37%) and Guifei (0.70%).

Cassava stillage residue (CSR), the solid wastes generated from cassava-based bio-ethanol production, can be used to produce ethanol because of its high contents of cellulose. This study has focused on the pretreatment of CSR using the ionic liquid (IL) of 1-butyl-3-methyl imidazolium chloride ([Bmim]Cl). The changes in surface morphology, particle size and functional groups of pretreated CSR were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), laser diffraction instrument and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The results showed that [Bmim]Cl pretreatment could significantly damage the structure of cassava cellulose and increase the enzymatic saccharification rate.

The goal of this article was to develop an optimum process to extract cellulose from sisal fiber and study the influence of pretreatment on the structure and property of sisal fiber. The sisal fiber was treated with 3% HNO3 solution at 120°C for 3h, then treated with 3% sodium hydroxyl solution at 110 °C for 2h which was the optimum refining condition. The percentage of cellulose reached 97.23% after pretreatment by chemical analysis. The morphology analysis and FTIR analysis proved that hemicellulose and lignin were removed from sisal fiber. The result of XRD indicated that the crystallinity of pretreated fiber declined. The pretreated fiber presented higher thermal stability by TGA.

Using feature selection and neural networks to experiment the data, then we bring a warning model of user complaints. It is the core that using the known information of network index sample to analyze and discriminate. First, the training samples need to be extract, because there are too many features in training data will have an adverse impact on machine learning classification algorithm. Using extraction method to explore the feature subset with feature, feature subset is a set of feature vectors, then the feature vectors are input into the probability neural network prediction, find out the best features quantum set. This model can be achieved using the MATLAB software, and it is operational, and it can be extended to the network quality assessment and monitoring practice.

Utilization of agriculture waste has been an issue around the world. In this study, the natural cellulose was extracted from pineapple leaf. Under the optimal pretreatment conditions of 25 g/L, 368 K and 6 h, the ratio of obtained cellulose was above 85 wt%. The structure of obtained cellulose at different stage was confirmed by XRD results. Origin cellulose (OC) and pretreated cellulose (PC) belong to be cellulose I, while regenerated cellulose possessed cellulose II structure, attributed to the dissolution of ionic liquid which destroyed the hydrogen bonds between the cellulose molecules. On the other hand, the structure could be explained by the morphology analysis of OC, PC and RC. The porous network structure of RC led to the reduction of ordered crystalline region and the decrease of crystallinity (CrI), which was proved by BET results. However, the dissolution was testified to be a physical process through FTIR analysis, the existence of characteristic absorption peaks of cellulose. The thermal stability was decreased through pretreatment, dissolution processes, corresponding to the decrease of CrI. The disordered amorphous region of RC decides convenient for production and broad applications.

In the study, the solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC-MS) were used for identifying and analysising the volatile compounds of jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus L.) fresh peel (FE) and fresh pulp (FU). The result showed that it was apparent differences of the species and quantities of volatile compounds between peel and pulp. 2,3-Butanediol, Butyrolactone, 1-Methoxy-2-propyl acetate, Butanoic acid, 3-methyl-, butyl ester, n-Amyl isovalerate, n-Hexadecanoic acid were found in peel and pulp. While compounds, such as Geranylgeraniol, Lanosterol, Pentanoic acid, 3-phenylpropyl ester, Phthalic acid, butyl 3-methylbut-2-en-1-yl ester, Hexadecanoic acid, methyl ester, were only present in the peel. But in the pulp, compounds, like Dibutyl phthalate Phenol, 2,4-bis (1,1-dimethylethyl)- henols were confirmed, which did not be found in the peel. The experimental result also indicated that SPME-GCMS is a simple, rapid, reliable and effective method to analyze the volatile fraction in jackfruit. It may have as profound an impact on analysising the volatile compounds of jackfruit.

A phosphate-based ionic liquid, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium diethylphosphate ([EMI[DE), was synthesized and used to dissolve sugarcane bagasse cellulose under microwave radiation. The original and regenerated cellulose were both characterized by X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that cellulose had a more porous and less crystalline structure after regeneration, whereas chemical composition had no change. Thermal stability of the regenerated cellulose was somewhat lower, corresponding to the decreased crystallinity. In short, the treatment with [EMI[DE led to desirable structural modification on sugarcane bagasse cellulose via physical process. This is of great benefit to the subsequent downstream processes, such as enzymatic hydrolysis and ethanol fermentation.

Oil-in-water (O/W) nanoemulsion of Macadamia integrifoblia oil was prepared. The nanoemulsion with the minimum diameter (22.13 nm) would be gained at the ratio of surfactant (Tween-80): cosurfactant (olive oil): oil phase (ethanol)=9:2:1, 86.4% distributing between 10~30 nm, spherical. The Macadamia integrifoblia oil nanoemulsion was still clarity, homogeneous and stable after the stability tests.

Superparamagnetic Fe3O4nanoparticle with single phase has been synthesized successfully by a co-precipitation process. On the other hand, the effect of additive anhydrous ethanol in synthesis procedure was investigated for the magnetic properties of nanoparticles in this paper. The structure properties of synthetic Fe3O4particle were measured through XRD, FT-IR and TG-DSC devices. The characteristic peaks of Fe3O4have been observed to testify Fe3O4with single phase. The particle size and shape were observed by SEM and TEM measurements. The addition of anhydrous ethanol could enhance the dispersion of Fe3O4nanoparticles and restrain the agglomeration of nanoparticles. Therefore, the average particle size was about 18.2 nm, smaller than that of Fe3O4particles prepared without anhydrous ethanol of 24.3 nm. Correspondingly, the saturation magnetization (Ms) of Fe3O4prepared with and without anhydrous ethanol was determined to be 53.28 emu/g and 65.28 emu/g, respectively, lower than bulk magnetite particles of 90 emu/g. That is because, synthetic Fe3O4with smaller particle size obtains the higher surface curvature, which could enhance the disordered crystal orientation on the particle surface, so the saturation magnetization was decreased.

The aim of the study was to investigate bamboo shoots protein extraction. A Box-Behnken design (BBD) was applied through the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) to determine the effects of pH, temperature and solid-liquid ratio during Phyllostachys pubescens bamboo shoots protein extraction. Regression analysis was applied on the data obtained. The more relevant variables were pH, liquid-solid ratio. The coefficient determination (R2 = 0.9258) was good for the second-order model. Maximum yield was 10.77±2.28% obtained when pH, liquid-solid ratio, temperature and extraction time were 12, 32.24, 46.12°C and 20 min, respectively. The result was help to design the process of optimal protein extraction from Phyllostachys pubescens bamboo shoots.

In this study, a strain of cellulolytic bacterium named N-6 was isolated from lake Huguang Maar. Phylogenetic analysis based on a partial 16s rDNA sequence showed that the strain was Bacillus cereus. Extracellular cellulase produced by the strain Bacillus.cereus N-6 exhibits optimum activity around pH 8.0 at 50°C and has good pH tolerance in the range of 6-9.

The ultrasonic technology was applied to optimize the processing parameters of extraction of flavonoids from litchi seed using the response surface methodology. The Box–Behnken design was used to analyze the effect of independent variables including extraction temperature (X1), methanol concentration (X2) and extraction time (X3) on the yield of total flavonoids as the dependent variable(Y). The analysis of variance (ANOVA) indicated that three independent variables, their quadratic terms and interaction terms showed a significant effect on yield of total flavonoids (YTF) except the interaction between X1and X2. A mathematical model with high determination coefficient was constructed, according to which the optimal extraction conditions were determined as follows: extraction temperature 70°C, methanol concentration 68%, extraction time 70 min. Under the above-mentioned condition, the experimental value of YTF was 3.55 g catechin equivalent per 100 g of dry (g CE/100 g ), which agreed with the predicted value perfectly, demonstrating the response surface model was suitable in optimizing the extraction of flavonoids from litchi seed.

A Box-Behnken experimental design and response surface methodology (RSM) was employed to optimize the parameters of ultrasonic extraction of phenolics from longan seed based on the single-factor experiments. The effects of extraction temperature, methanol concentration and extraction time on the extraction yield of phenolics from longan seed were investigated. The major parameter influencing the extraction was the extraction temperature. In this experiment, the maximal extraction yield of phenolics was obtained with 5.931 ± 0.016% (n = 3) at extraction temperature 82°C, methanol concentration 50% and extraction time 41 min. Under optimal conditions, the activity predicted by the model agreed well with experimental data.

Cellulose nanocomposite is one of the most fascinating materials with broad applications. In this work, cellulose-magnetite nanocomposite has been prepared by dispersion of magnetite nanoparticles in a homogenous ionic liquid solution of grafted cellulose. Bagasse cellulose was first grafted with polymethacrylic acid in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium, and then fabricated with Fe3O4 nanoparticles during the homogeneous media. The obtained nanocomposite contained high content of iron due to the clelation of the grafted cellulose and Fe3O4 nanoparticles. It also exhibited superparamagnetic behavior with 8.606 emu/g saturation magnetizations. The cellulose-magnetite nanocomposite will be potential for the development of functional cellulose and protective materials for electromagnet radiation or microwaves.

In this paper, bagasse cellulose was dissolved in ionic liquid (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride) by microwave heating. The orthogonal test and variance analysis were applied to obtain the optimum dissolution condition of bagasse in ionic liquid. The effects of microwave power, temperature and the mass fraction of cellulose were examined by an orthogonal experiment designed through the different dissolution time and the yield of regeneration bagasse. Results showed that the optimal dissolution condition for faster dissolution time was 1% of bagasse cellulose in ionic liquid at 140°C, 500W; while, to get the most yield of cellulose, the condition was 2% of bagasse cellulose at 130°C, 500W.

Optimization conditions for ultrasonic extraction of phenolics from litchi seed were studied using response surface methodology. A Box–Behnken design (BBD) was applied to determine the effects of extraction temperature, methanol concentration and extraction time on yield of phenolics. Then a quadratic regression model was developed and found to be statistically significant by examining its adequacy. According to the model, the maximum yield of phenolics was obtained at the theoretical extraction conditions described as follows: extraction temperature 90°C, methanol concentration 59% and extraction time 70 min. Under this condition, the experimental value was 5.48 ± 0.03% (n = 3) with gallic acid as the equivalent, which agreed with the predicted value (5.52%) closely.

Four different extraction methods, solvent extraction, ultrasonic wave-assisted extraction, Soxhlet extraction and supercritical CO2 extraction, were used to extract oil from Macadamia integrifolia, which also named Macadamia nut oil. Fatty acid compositions of Macadamia nut oil were analyzed by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The results showed the highest extraction rate was 74.63% via Soxhlet extraction, while supercritical CO2 extraction was 70.53%, ultrasonic wave-assisted extraction was 57.19% and Solvent extraction was 50.37%. Six unsaturated fatty acids, including Z-9-Hexadecenoic acid, E-11-Hexadecenoic acid, 9,12-Octadecadienoic acid, 9-Octadecenoic acid, E-9-Octadecenoic acid and 9-eicosenoate, were identified in the oil by GC-MS．The relative extraction rate of unsaturated fatty acids were 36.53%, 44.21%, 60.62%, 56.81%, respectively. Though the extraction rate was the highest via Soxhlet extraction, the relative content of Z-9-Hexadecenoic acid and 9,12-Octadecadienoic acid were both higher extracted by supercritical CO2 extraction than Soxhlet extraction, which were 15.38% and 1.55%,. As supercritical CO2 extraction has no solvent residual problem, it would be the trend of the development inSubscript text the future to extract Macadamia nut oil.

The steel tubular arch is hoisted segment by segment through cable crane and the stayed cables are used to maintain stability and balance. The determination of the stayed-cable forces and construction camber value of the erected rib segments becomes the key issue to ensure construction quality and safety. The forward iteration analysis method, which combines finite element method with optimization method as provided in this paper, can easily and effectively determine the stayed-cable forces and construction camber value in the erection of the rib segments, and the stay cables can be tensioned to their target force values only at one time. Finally, the example is demonstrated to prove the correctness and affectivity of the present method. Numerical example indicates that the results based on the method may be used to the backward analysis of the initial state, and that the proposed CM has excellent features of quick convergence rate and best global performance.

A cellulose grafted copolymer was synthesized by homogeneous grafting 2-(Dimethylamino)ethylmethacrylate (DMAEMA) onto the sugarcane bagasse cellulose under microwave irradiation. Cellulose was dissolved in 1-butyl-3-methylinidazolium chloride ionic liquid ([Bmim]Cl) to form a homogeneous solution. The grafting polymerization was then initiated by potassium persulfate in the presence of N,Nˊ-methylenebisacrylamide as a crosslinker. Compared with the traditional thermal heating method, microwave irradiation had a drastic reduction of reaction time and an increased grafted efficiency. The characterization of the graft copolymer was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Scanning electron microscope (SEM), and Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Moreover, the homogenous reaction media applied can be carried out in completely recycled ionic liquid, and the grafted cellulose products have a potential application in wastewater anion absorption.

The aim of the present study is to investigate the efficacy of nanobiphasic calcium phosphate (nanoBCP) bioceramic in the treatment of periodontal osseous defects. Alveolar bone defects were surgically created bilaterally at the buccal aspects of four second premolars in two beagle dogs. After root leveling, nanoBCP was randomly filled in one defect and nothing was put into the contralateral defect as negative controls. Bioglass was randomly filled in one of left defect as positive controls and nothing was put into the contralateral defect as negative controls. Dogs were killed at the 12th week. Histological observations were processed through a light microscopy. The results reveal that a great amount of functional periodontal fissures formed in the defects in the nanoBCP groups and bioglass groups while no new bone formed in the control groups at all. In this study, nanoBCP has proven to work well as a biocompatible and bioactive material to promote periodontal regeneration effectively.

A new cellulose graft copolymer was synthesized by the homogeneous graft polymerization in ionic liquid. The methyl methacrylate was successfully grafted onto the bagasse cellulose in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([Bmim]Cl) as a homogenous media. The obtained copolymer was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results of thermal analysis curves exhibited two separated pyrolysis with cellulose and the grafted pMMA. Moreover, the homogenous reaction media applied can be carried out in completely recycled ionic liquid, and the modified cellulose has a potential value for oil absorbent.

Bagasse is an abundant agricultural byproduct. The use of bagasse has generated much interest due to its low cost, possibility of environmental protection and use of locally available renewable resources. In this paper, cellulose was dissolved in the ionic liquid （1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride） and regenerated in water. FT-IR and SEM were used to characterize the structure of the original and regenerated cellulose. It was found that the treatment of the original cellulose in the ionic liquid significantly degraded the cellulose and completely destroyed the cellulose crystals. Despite many studies of the chemical modification of cellulose published around the world in this area, only a few have been investigated about the regeneration of sugarcane bagasse. Theoretical basis was established for further research on the application of the regenerated cellulose in material science.

In this study, the ruthenium dioxide ( RuO2 ) thin film as sensing film of pH sensor was deposited on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) by radio frequency sputtering. The pH-sensor based on separative extended gate field effect transistor (SEGFET) was fabricated by screen-printed technology through two different fabrication methods. And the calcium ion selective membrane was dropped on sensing window of SEGFET to perform the calcium ion sensor. In addition, the difference between the two fabrication methods was studied, and the hysteresis effect of calcium ion sensor was analyzed in this study. At present, the pH-sensor has been fabricated successfully, its sensitivity and linearity are 60.36 mV/pH and 0.999 from pH1 to pH11 at 30°C, respectively. As well as the sensitivity and linearity of calcium ion sensor are 27.71 mV/pCa and 0.987 in the range of 1 M–10-4 M CaCl2 solutions, respectively.

Endothelial dysfunction and injury are central events in the pathogenesis of ischemic vascular disorders. Endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) are mobilized from the bone marrow into the peripheral circulation, where they locate to sites of injured endothelium and are involved in endothelial repair and vascular regeneration. During these processes, EPCs are exposed to oxidative stress, a crucial pathological condition, which occurs during vascular injury and limits the efficacy of EPCs in the repair of injured endothelium. Statins are effective inhibitors of 3‑hydroxy‑3‑methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase, and are commonly used to manage and prevent ischemic vascular disease by reducing plasma cholesterol levels. In addition to lowering cholesterol, statins have also been reported to exert pleiotropic actions, including anti‑inflammatory and anti‑oxidative activities. The present study aimed to investigate the ability of atorvastatin to protect endothelial colony‑forming cells (ECFCs), a homogeneous subtype of EPCs, from hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)‑induced oxidative damage, and to determine the mechanism underlying this protective action. MTT assay, acridine orange/ethidium bromide staining, reactive oxygen species assay, western blot analysis and tube formation assay were employed. The results demonstrated that H2O2 induced cell death and decreased the tube‑forming ability of the ECFCs, in a concentration‑dependent manner; however, these effects were partially attenuated following administration of atorvastatin. The reversion of the quantitative and qualitative impairment of the H2O2‑treated ECFCs appeared to be mediated by the regulation of annexin A2, as the expression levels of annexin A2 were decreased following treatment with H2O2 and increased following treatment with atorvastatin. These results indicated that annexin A2 may be involved in the H2O2‑induced damage of ECFCs, and in the protective activities of atorvastatin in response to oxidative stress.

The aim of this study is to execute the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation of high speed jet under different input pressures (i.e., 80, 120, 160, 200, and 240 MPa). In particular, this study focuses on the pressure distributions and streamlines of the orifice in high speed jet, primarily because the orifice plays a role in accelerating the flow of liquid, having significant effects on the working performance of high speed jet. Firstly, the two-dimensional geometric model of high speed jet is established on the basis of the actual operational conditions. Next, the unstructured grids of high speed jet are generated by means of ICEM CFD 16.0. Virtually, the computational fluid dynamics simulation of high speed jet is a two-phase flow (gas-liquid) problem, so the homogeneous (Eulerian-Eulerian) two-phase model is employed to carry out the gas-liquid interaction. Particularly, the turbulent flow computation of high speed jet is carried out with procedures based on the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations. As the flow of high speed jet is highly turbulent, the RNG k-ɛ turbulence model derived by Yakhot et al. (1992) is utilized in this study. Finally, the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation of high speed jet is implemented by using the CFX-Solver in ANSYS CFX 16.0. The simulation results show that when liquid flows through the orifice, the pressure of flows decreases swiftly, whereas the velocity of flows skyrockets to the maximum value and then decreases slightly. In addition, the relationship between the working pressure and input pressure and the relationship between the working velocity and input pressure are achieved, which could provide certain theoretical guidance for predicting the working pressure and velocity of high speed jet based on real input pressures.

To evaluate the the feasibility and effectiveness of narrowing and sliding genioplasty combined with mandibular outer cortex ostectomy technique to reshape a square jaw in short face.From July 2005 to October 2009, a total of 57 patients received narrowing and sliding genioplasty combined with mandibular outer cortex ostectomy procedure to correct square jaw in short face. All the patients had standard frontal and lateral cephalometric radiographs, panoramic radiographs, and were photographed preoperatively and postoperatively to assess their face contour. The alteration of mandibular angle, mental contour and width of lower face was observed for 6 to 24 months postoperatively. Questionnaires were used to assess the patients' satisfactory.It showed that the postoperative lower face had narrowed and become softer, slender and oval, with a slick mental region. The final aesthetic outcomes were quite satisfactory in all cases from both the view of surgeons and patients.Narrowing and sliding genioplasty combined with mandibular outer cortex ostectomy procedure could efficiently adjust the shape and position of chin to obtain a good proportion of the lower face, and to change square and short face to slender oval one by single operation in accordance with the fashionable aesthetics in orientals.

In the present paper, soluble Ca content in banana pulp was analyzed with pretreatment of digestion model in vitro. All the samples were digested by strong acid (perchloric acid and nitric acid with 1 : 4 ratio) and determined by AA700 flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry (FAAS). Meanwhile, the reproducibility of the analytical method was investigated. The results showed that (1) Content of Ca was 1.479 mg x g(-1) x DW in eighty percent maturity banana pulp. And the relative standard deviation was 4.12%. (2) Contents of Ca in the soluble and insoluble fractions were 1.108 and 0.412 mg x g(-1) x DW, respectively in eighty percent maturity banana pulp with pretreatment of digestion model in vitro. The extraction rate was 74.9% and the residue rate was 27.8%. (3) The relative standard deviations of the analytical results of Ca contents in those two fractions were 2.56% and 9.10%, respectively, in the reproducibility tests. It was showed that the digestion model in vitro did not affect the reproduction quality significantly. Moreover, the deviation between the theoretical value and the summation value of the extraction and the residue rates was only 2.7%, which showed good availability of the digestion model in vitro to be used as a pretreatment method in mineral element analysis process. (4) Relative standard deviation and recovery yield in the determination procedure were 0.11% (n = 9) and 99.2%, respectively.

To evaluate the effects of the nano-hydroxyapatite/polyamide 6 (n-HA/PA6) on the proliferation and osteoblastic differentiation of rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs), and the feasibility of using both for constructing tissue engineered bone in the calvarias of rats with critical sized defects.The third passage of BMSCs were cultured in osteoblastic medium and seeded on the scaffolds of n-HA/PA6, the proliferation of the BMSCs was tested by MTT (3-{4,5-dimethylthiazol-2yl}-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium-bromide) on scheduled dates, and the osteoblastic differentiation of the BMSCs were measured by alkaline phosphatase (ALP) staining. Furthermore, the scaffolds with or without BMSCs in rat calvarial defects, after 4 weeks, 8 weeks, and 16 weeks have been implanted. Histology and scanning electron microscope were used to test the bone healing in the different groups.The BMSCs seeded on the n-HA/PA6 grew well, the proliferation of cells was not affected by the scaffold, and the staining of ALP was also positive. At 4 week and 8 week after implantation, the n-HA/PA6 with BMSCs showed more new bone formation on the surface of scaffolds, with a better osseointegration of implant and host bone when compared with the group of n-HA/PA6 without BMSCs. However, there was no significant difference between these two groups at 16 week.The porous n-HA/PA6 has no negative effects on the proliferation and osteoblastic differentiation of rat BMSCs, and using BMSCs as seed cells and n-HA/PA6 as scaffolds is a good choice for constructing tissue engineered bone due to the enhanced new bone formation and osseointegration.
