Background Severe influenza is often associated with bacterial coinfection and can trigger sepsis, which increases the severity, complexity and mortality of the disease. To determine an effective method for predicting 28-day mortality of emergency department (ED) patients with influenza, we investigated the Mortality in Emergency Department Sepsis (MEDS) score, procalcitonin (PCT) and other relevant biomarkers. Methods We conducted a retrospective, observational, monocentric study, and the endpoint was 28-day mortality. Independent predictors were identified and a new combination predictive model was created both by logistic regression, and the model was evaluated by a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results A total of 364 consecutive ED admitted patients with influenza were enrolled and 45 patients died within 28 days. For predicting 28-day mortality, the MEDS score and PCT were independent predictors with adjusted odds ratio of 1.318 (95% CI 1.206–1.439) and 1.038 (95% CI 1.010–1.065), and with AUCs of 0.817 (95% CI 0.756–0.878) and 0.793 (95% CI 0.725–0.861), respectively. The new combination of the MEDS score with PCT significantly improved the efficacy for predicting 28-day mortality with an AUC of 0.857 (95% CI 0.809–0.905), and was superior to the SOFA score with an AUC of 0.837 (95% CI 0.779–0.894). Conclusion The MEDS score and PCT, especially when combined, perform well for predicting mortality of ED admitted patients with influenza.

In order to solve the problem that paper will get scratched during the paper feeding process of the quality inspector, a mathematical modeling of the inspector’s paper feeding section is made at the beginning of this essay. And then the lateral vibration of the belt will be analyzed with MATLAB. The distance between the belt and the support bars will be adjusted according to the amplitude changes of band carriers so as to eliminate the scratch of paper during its contact with support bars. In addition, blowing air downwards from the bottom of support bars further guarantees that paper will not get contact with support bars. As a result, the scratch rate will be in control through adjusting air-blowing quality and the qualified rate of presswork will obtain a big increase.

In order to solve the problem of low degree of installation automation on handles of the domestic cartons, the problem that the plastic handle is not environmental friendly and the problem that the finished cartons are not convenient for piling, a threading device for the non-woven fabric handle based on a Cam mechanism is designed. Kinematics analysis is done to the simulation model of the handle threading device by utilizing a simulation software ADAMS to obtain the variation curves of the displacement, velocity, accelerated velocity and jerk. The result of analysis shows that the designed threading device of the handle is able to meet with the requirements for non-woven fabric threading technology and it further verifies the validity of the design methods; Moreover, the velocity and the accelerated velocity of the threading device have no sudden change and the jerk values are small so that high speed and high automatic threading can be achieved. Besides, the threading efficiency of the designed device is significantly improved.

In order to solve the problem that the paper will be wrapped and distorted after being laminated by the paper laminating machine, an auto flip delivery mechanism of the paper laminating machine is designed. A set of flip mechanism is installed in the delivery part of the paper laminating machine for placing the small paper stacks right side up or side down, which effectively prevents the laminated paper from being wrapped and distorted. Comparing with manual delivery, it saves labor, reduces the number of employers and also reduces the cost of the enterprises. The effectiveness of the mechanism has been verified in its actual application.

The mechanics design applying Solideworks three dimensions design software and Matlab Simulation was introduced; in the design stage, assemble interference and interference detection of the mechanics were made by Solideworks Visible model; on the basis, the analysis on the kinematics and dynamics of machinery by Matlab Simulation were done. The application example shows the Solideworks three dimensions design and Matlab Simulation is a perfect design method.

The Modern Design Theories and Methods is an important core course for mechanical and electronic engineering graduate students. This paper carries out some useful exploration and experiments on the construction of a reasonable curriculum system, optimization of course content, and utilization of various teaching methods and means to improve the quality of teaching in the teaching of Modern Design Theories and Methods in accordance with the characteristics of college and the mechanical engineering discipline.

Paper tension is the most important control parameter in roll material production that directly impacts the printing quality of the web offset. Based on the closed-loop paper tension control theory, by conducting a research into the simulation of paper tension control system with MATLAB/SIMULINK, presented the closed-loop control diagram about the paper tension control system. Under different control parameter, the value of the overshoot, respond speed and residual of the system varies. As a result, the quantitative research on the simulation of the system offers a valid means in improving the control accuracy.

In order to enhance the cleaning speed, reduce the cleaning cost and solve other problems of the existing cleaning equipment for blanket cylinder, we put forward a new-type unpowered cleaning equipment for blanket cylinder after a comparative analysis between powered spurt brush type cleaning equipment and unpowered cleaning cloth type cleaning equipment with respect to their structures and characteristics. Furthermore, after we study the cylinder structure of printing press and the cleaning effect of the existing cleaning equipments, a spurt brush type is proposed. We obtain the optimal pressure of this cleaning equipment through repeated experimental analyses on the pressure exerted by brush roller on blanket cylinder. The velocity parameter is determined by analyzing the cleaning principle of brush roller.

The application of air cushion in lamination process in the printing and packaging field is still a new attempt. In order to further understand the effect of air cushion lamination process in practical application, an experimental research is made on air cushion lamination. The air pressure distribution simulation results are verified using experimental device, and the pressure, thickness and lamination time of air cushion are varied. In addition, a process test is made over the adhesion of the corrugated core paper and surface paper using orthogonal experiment. The results show that the air cushion lamination process is feasible for lamination and the simulated air-cushion pressure distribution is consistent with the measured results. In this experiment 1000 pa air-cushion pressure, 2 mm air cushion thickness, 3 min lamination time, selected as the process parameters for the adhesion of corrugated paper, are appropriate.

For paper forward unit of the current forward type flute laminating machine, the contact surface of the paper forward unit may damage paper during high speed paper forwarding. In view of this phenomenon, a solution is proposed through the study on the feeding unit of the flute laminating machine. In this paper, the corresponding sprocket driveshaft is controlled by a servo motor to slowly forward paper at the beginning and accelerate its forwarding speed gradually, until the entire feeding process is completed. In this way, the problem of paper pile-up and damages during the paper forwarding process can be solved, while matching backing paper feeding, so as to improve the feeding accuracy of the full-automatic flute laminating machine and hence its laminating accuracy.

This paper proposes a cam curve synthesis method based on classical splines. The cam curve is described by the classical spline of order 6. Corresponding equations and boundary conditions are given to satisfy the specific requirements of the cam design problem. Then, a universal computation method is given and an example to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method is presented. It is shown that excellent design result can be gained easily, and the designer can adjust the interpolation values of the interior knots of the spline to change the cam curve in a local influence without any violation of the specific constraints.

In order to realize precise control of the vertical inverting feeding of paper, the paper proposes the scheme to analyse the accuracy. Based on the geometric constraint relations of the feeding device, the position constraint equation of the device is established, together with the speed-acceleration formula; and the relationship between the paper inverting deviation angle and its drop height is obtained using the general equation of dynamics of the horizontal projectile motion as vertical inverting accuracy analysis of the device. The results of the study show that the precise control of the vertical inverting feeding of paper can be realized through the control of the angle.

In order to improve the spine tape folding precision of GMS-7 type spine taping machine and reduce the labor intensity, this paper researched the principle of the spine tape folding process.Through analysis and calculation, the relation curve between folding angle and the advancing distance of paper tape is obtained, therefore, achieved is the free form feature of plow shaped guideways that provides the method to brush the paper tape on the spine of promissory note with glue smoothly.

Paper transferring gripper is a key part of printer. In this work, plasma spray technology was adopted for the coating of 5 different metal oxide ceramic layers on metallic substrate. The friction and wear performance of different plasma-sprayed metal oxide ceramic coating on the gripper surface were comparatively studied by friction and wear test. Results suggested that compared to 100% Al2O3 and 100% Cr2O3 ceramic coatings, Al2O3/Cr2O3 composite coatings had a higher friction coefficient and wear amount. Abrasive wear was the dominant wear mechanism for Al2O3/Cr2O3 composite coatings, while fatigue wear was dominant for 100% Al2O3 and 100%Cr2O3 ceramic coatings.

According to the result of survey and research, the device combining powder sweeping and powder sticking is used for powder removing. Powder sweeping section is to use three soft brush rollers, covered with a large air suction device. Powder sticking section is to use a rubber roller and a hot pressing steel roller, with a hard brush roller which can sweep the powder on the rollers surface, extracting the powder to the filter device via exhausting pipe.

The precision and stability of these machines manufactured by domestic enterprises are low because of the difference in parts machining capacity, specification and performance of raw materials. In view of the poor laminating accuracy, stability, inconvenient pressure adjustment of domestic full-automatic flute laminating machines, the structural analysis is performed over the domestic full-automatic flute laminating machines, in an attempt to improve the paper route and speed of suction belt, change the position of photoelectric detection and carry out the installation and debugging experiment. Certain economic and social effects can be obtained through the production and sales of the outsourcing units.

Variable head sizes of paper roll will influence the stability of paper feeding device and hence the printing quality. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the printing quality by improving the stability of paper feeding device based on dynamic analysis on the phenomenon of variable head sizes of paper roll. It is found through dynamic analysis that the effect of variable head sizes on the support force of bearings is nearly five times that of the case when such effect does not exist. Vibration performance analysis of paper feeding device using finite element analysis obtains the natural frequencies of the first 6 orders for paper carriage and their dominant vibrational modes. This provides theoretical basis for the improvement of paper feeding device.

Automatic box unfolding and closing mechanisms are the important components of the horizontal type boxing line. The process principle of box unfolding and closing mechanisms was researched based on the production requirement of the boxing line. The structure scheme was brought out, which was mainly composed of box opening mechanism, box unfolding mechanism, posture keeping device, box closing mechanism and sealing device. The composition and working principle of pneumatic control system of the box unfolding and closing mechanisms was analyzed and the pneumatic sequential operation control circuitry with multi-cylinders was simulation designed and debugged by using the software FluidSim. The control system was also constructed of PLC module and its assistant components, whose program was compiled and simulated in the software GX Developer and Simulator. The theoretical basis for researching and developing the packing line was established by proposing the solution and design method of pneumatic control system driving the box unfolding and closing mechanisms.

Cushion has a wide range of applications in engineering. It is a new attempt to use it in the field of printing and packaging lamination process, to get a numerical simulation study analyzes for the distribution of the formation pressure of the air cushion pressure chamber. On the basis of analysis of the principle of air-cushion laminated device, make it clear for the requirements of the air cushion pressure distribution, pressure distribution from a single stomatal mathematical model, using ANSYS finite element software, numerical simulation of multi-stoma pressure distribution. The results showed that: stomata arranged in the form of cushion thickness, stomatal spacing and stomatal row spacing uniformity of the distribution greater impact on the cushion pressure; small stomatal spacing and stomatal row spacing will help improve the air cushion pressure distribution uniformity; reasonable cushion thickness stomatal spacing and stomatal row spacing, the selected diameter of the pores smaller cushion pressure distribution uniformity.

Brushes-type blanket washer’s function is rubbing a high speed spinning brush roller against blanket roller, so as to clean the paper-lints and ink which adhere to the surface of blanket cylinder. It is very important to do a research into the dynamic structural analysis of the washer which determines the stability of this equipment. With the gyroscopic effect dynamic analysis of brush blanket, we get the relation curve between central offset of the washer and the load of permanent joint. The result show that a minute alteration of the central offset causes effect change of the load. This result provides a theoretical basis to control the effect change and then improve the stability and decrease the cost.

In order to improve the work performance of the GMS-7 spine taping machine,reduce the labour intensity of the operators and the spine taping cost,through giving an analysis of the spine taping papers’ water feed process of the GMS-7 spine taping machine,we understanded the spine taping papers’ water feed principle,which provided the theoretical guidance to use glue pot device instead the special Pre-applied water sol paper to reduce the spine taping cost.

For the requirements of mechanism activity, the mechanical pairs need certain clearances. To research the precision and stability of high-speed mechanism, it’s need to study the impaction and vibration which is caused by clearance in pair. A vibration experiment set of four-bar linkage with clearances is designed for this goal, and on the experiment set, vibration wave and data are gotten. The data got from experiment set are consistent to the results of theoretical calculation. From the vibration measure and dynamic model, it’s found that comparing to ideal pair, clearance causes impact in pair and the vibration increasing nonlinearly with rotary velocity.

Flying splicer is a key component of web-fed offset presses for automatically replacing the exhausting web roll with a new one without stopping the machine. The composition and working principle of pneumatic controlling mechanism for driving the flying splicer was analyzed according to the processing requirements of automatic web alternation. By using the software FluidSim, the pneumatic sequential operation controlling circuitry with multi-cylinders for driving the flying splicer was designed, in which the air cylinders cooperates to accelerate the new reel to the circumferential velocity of the expiring web, paste the adhesive end of the new reel with the expiring web, and cut the remaining piece of expired web off. A system scheme and designing method of the pneumatic controlling system suitable for automatic web roll change on high speed offset printing presses was brought out.

Printing cylinder driven by helical gear is the basic requirements of the modern printing press. Helical gear transmission necessarily produces component force in axial. It brings about a small displacement in axial to the cylinder, that is, axial bounce. The axial placement is too small or too large during the printing process, which both will have harmful effects on printed matter. At the same time, the axial playing of the cylinder is one of the important performance standards to determine printing press. The modern high-speed printing press has a higher requirement on mechanic properties and axial bounce. We tested on the cylinders of press and analyzed on the placement of the cylinders in order to effectively master and control the displacement in axial in the case of the printing press running with high-speed. We chose a four-color offset press as the test objects and reasonably selected measurement points on the cylinder shaft end face. We collected vibration signals of the blanket cylinders, impress cylinders and transfer cylinders. Then obtain the placement in axial of the cylinders with quadrature method. Analysis shows that the higher the printing speed, the larger the placement of the same type cylinder in axial is, which shows that the placement of the cylinders in axial has something to do with the printing speed. At the same speed, the blanket cylinder have a larger placement in axial than impress cylinder and transfer cylinder. Which shows that the placement of the cylinders in axial has connection to the cylinder assembly structure. Test data accord well with the actual structure and assembling condition, which can be considered as the theoretical basis to control the placement of cylinder in axial.

To improve the stability of a Paper-Transferring Mechanism (PTM), a profound understanding must be made on its vibration characteristics, on which based, a modified design was made. Through kinetic and dynamic analysis of the PTM, the natural frequencies were obtained based on the vibration signal detection and noise signal analysis. To reduce the vibration response of the PTM, first is to reduce its maximum acceleration and reduce the quality of moving parts and improve its quality distribution, then structural modification to the wallboards and pull beams of the platform should be made to render its inherent frequencies from its working frequencies.
