This White Paper aims at highlighting the important benefits in the science reach of the EIC. High luminosity operation is generally desirable, as it enables producing and harvesting scientific results in a shorter time period. It becomes crucial for programs that would require many months or even years of operation at lower luminosity.

Objective: To assess the effectiveness of a 6-month Ba Duan Jin exercise program in improving the balance of community-dwelling older adults. Methods: A two arms, parallel-group, cluster randomized controlled trial was conducted in 1 028 community residents aged 60-80 years in 40 communities in 5 provinces of China. Participants in the intervention group (20 communities, 523 people) received Ba Duan Jin exercise 5 days/week, 1 hour/day for 6 months, and three times of falls prevention health education, and the control group (20 communities, 505 people) received falls prevention health education same as the intervention group. The Berg balance scale (BBS) score was the leading outcome indicator, and the secondary outcome indicators included the length of time of standing on one foot (with eyes open and closed), standing in a tandem stance (with eyes open and closed), the closed circle test, and the timed up to test. Results: A total of 1 028 participants were included in the final analysis, including 731 women (71.11%) and 297 men (28.89%), and the age was (69.87±5.67) years. After the 3-month intervention, compared with the baseline data, the BBS score of the intervention group was significantly higher than the control group by 3.05 (95% CI : 2.23-3.88) points ( P <0.001). After the 6-month intervention, compared with the baseline data, the BBS score of the intervention group was significantly higher than the control group by 4.70 (95% CI : 4.03-5.37) points ( P <0.001). Ba Duan Jin showed significant improvement ( P <0.05) in all secondary outcomes after 6 months of exercise in the intervention group compared with the control group. Conclusions: This study showed that Ba Duan Jin exercise can improve balance in community-dwelling older adults aged 60-80. The longer the exercise time, the better the improvement.

We perform the first global QCD analysis of pion valence, sea quark, and gluon distributions within a Bayesian Monte Carlo framework with threshold resummation on Drell-Yan cross sections at next-to-leading log accuracy. Exploring various treatments of resummation, we find that the large-x asymptotics of the valence quark distribution ∼(1-x)^{β&#95;{v}} can differ significantly, with β&#95;{v} ranging from ≈1 to >2.5 at the input scale. Regardless of the specific implementation, however, the resummation induced redistribution of the momentum between valence quarks and gluons boosts the total momentum carried by gluons to ≈40%, increasing the gluon contribution to the pion mass to ≈40  MeV.

Background: The medical consortium is an intensive and disease-specific association that integrates tertiary public hospitals and medical examination centers in China. We aimed to evaluate the feasibility of the medical consortium for screening upper gastrointestinal (GI) cancers (MCSC) by magnetically controlled capsule gastroscopy (MCCG)., Methods: 6627 asymptomatic subjects underwent MCCG as part of health check-ups in the MCSC between March and November 2018. Relevant clinical data were collected and analyzed., Results: The MCSC detected 32 patients with upper GI cancer (0.48 %) confirmed by pathology. The detection rate of early gastric cancer was 16.67 % (4 /24). Gastric polyps, ulcers, and submucosal tumors were found in 15.54 %, 3.76 %, and 3.17 % of subjects, respectively. The whole GI preparation and operation process were well tolerated., Conclusions: The MCSC was a feasible model for upper GI cancer screening, especially for asymptomatic subjects. Introduction: We aim to evaluate the efficacy of 2 different 1-week quadruple therapies given back-to-back consecutive therapy in patients with difficult-to-treat Helicobacter pylori infection., Methods: Patients with proven H. pylori infection were recruited after >3 failed standard quadruple eradication. They received consecutive therapy consisting of esomeprazole 40 mg or rabeprazole 20 mg twice daily, amoxicillin 1,000 mg twice daily, tetracycline 500 mg 4 times daily, and furazolidone 100 mg 3 times daily for the first 7 days, followed by colloidal bismuth pectin 200 mg twice daily in place of furazolidone 100 mg for another 7 days. Eradication rates, treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs), and compliance were assessed., Results: Sixty-five patients were enrolled. The mean number of previous eradications was 3.6 (range: 3-7). The intention-to-treat and per-protocol eradication rates were 90.8% (59/65) and 95.1% (58/61). In total, 23.4% (15/64) of patients experienced drug-related TEAEs. No serious adverse events were observed. None of the patients required treatment for TEAEs, and 95.3% (61/64) showed good compliance. Overall, 51 patients (78.5%) were with the available antimicrobial susceptibility testing results. The resistance rates to clarithromycin, metronidazole, levofloxacin, and amoxicillin were 60.8% (31/51), 100% (51/51), 70.6% (36/51), and 2.0% (1/51), respectively. No resistance was detected to either furazolidone or tetracycline. However, in 54.9% of patients (28/51), H. pylori was resistant to 3 antibiotics (metronidazole, levofloxacin, and clarithromycin)., Discussion: Consecutive therapy, including amoxicillin, tetracycline, and furazolidone, achieved a good eradication rate (>90%), with desirable compliance and tolerability in difficult-to-treat H. pylori infection., (Copyright © 2021 The Author(s). Objective: To investigate the incidence of injuries among children aged 0-17 years from 28 counties in six provinces. Methods: According to the earlier study on data in different local areas and the current work plan, we selected the survey objects for a general survey on child injury prevalence in the last 12 months. The subjects included guardians of children who did not attend kindergartens, children from kindergartens, and primary school grades 1-3. Children from grades 4-6 primary school, junior high school, and senior high school were also included. Results: The overall rate of injured children was 4.83%, with the incidence of injuries as 5.75% in the last 12 months before the survey. Both the rate of injured children and incidence of injuries were higher in boys than that in girls. Children whose primary caregivers were relatives, grandparents, minors, or with an education level below the primary school had a relatively higher rate of both injured children and incidence of injuries. The first cause of child injury was fall. The time of child injury was mainly from June to October, mainly at home, with the main activity as playing. The significant injuries in children were contusion and abrasion, and the main parts injured were lower limbs, upper limbs, and head. Most of the injuries were cured, and the primary treatment was outpatient and emergency treatment. Conclusions: Boys and children whose parents can not take care of are the priority population for child injury prevention and control. Targeted prevention and control measures should be implemented according to the characteristics of injuries among children of different ages.

Objective: To understand the epidemiological characteristic and influencing factors of animal injuries among children from 28 counties/districts in 6 provinces of China to provide evidence for formulating related prevention measures and strategies. Methods: Data was obtained from 'Children injury prevention project, 2016-2020'. Variables on the characteristics, including incidence, locations, related activities, time, and outcomes among children, were described. The negative binomial regression model analyzed animal injury frequency influencing factors. Results: There were 107 029 boys and 97 599 girls, with a gender ratio of 1.10, among the 204 628 children aged 0-17 in 28 counties/districts in 6 provinces of China. Per-person and per-time incidence rates of animal injuries were 0.70% and 0.72%, both higher in boys than in girls. Animal injuries among children mainly occurred in home (73.20%), road/street (7.51%), and open space of community/village (6.77%), during playing (63.15%), with the peak time between 12:01-18:00 (45.03%). Upper limbs (47.89%), lower limbs (35.31%), and head (8.44%) were the most injured body parts. Outpatient or emergency treatment (85.19%) had been carried out. The negative binomial regression showed that sex, grade, guardian educational level, urban or rural, and daily communication between guardians and children as influencing factors in the frequency of animal injuries among children. Conclusions: Special attention should be given to boys, at home, in projects on animal injury prevention and control. There were many influencing factors of animal injury frequency. Knowledge of injury prevention should be popularized to children and guardians. Related comprehensive intervention should be developed in families, schools, and social settings.

Objective: To investigate the incidence of traffic injuries among children aged 0-17 years in 28 counties of 6 provinces and to provide prevention suggestions. Methods: Using the general survey method, a questionnaire survey was conducted on the road traffic injuries of children in 28 counties of 6 provinces in 2017. Results: A total of 204 628 students were surveyed, 908 of whom had experiences of road traffic injuries. Road traffic injuries were 0.44% among children in 28 counties of 6 provinces in China and 0.94% among children who did not attend kindergartens. July is a high incidence period of road traffic injuries among children (12.92%). When children suffer from road traffic injuries, the first three activities were playing (21.61%), riding an electric bicycle (20.40%), walking (20.07%). Most injuries appeared as contusion/abrasion, accounting for 42.26% of the total cases. The injured parts were mainly lower limbs, upper limbs, and heads, accounting for 38.85%, 23.29%, and 20.20%. Most children with road traffic injuries recovered after related treatments, accounting for 85.43% of all cases. The median length of hospital stay of children with road traffic injuries was seven days, and the median expense in hospitals was 3 000 Yuan (RMB). Conclusions: The incidence of road traffic injuries among males appeared higher than females, and the children who did not attend the kindergartens were the highest. During playing, riding an electric bicycle and walking were the top three activities prone to road traffic injuries.

Objectives: Furazolidone containing regimen is effectivefor Helicobacter pylori ( H. pylori ) infection, but its safetyremains controversial. To assess the safety of furazolidone containing regimenin H. pylori infection., Design: A systematic review and meta-analysis., Data Sources: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and Scopus databases were systematically searched for eligible randomised controlled trials., Eligibility Criteria: Studies comparing furazolidone with non-furazolidone-containing regimen, variable durations or doses of furazolidone were included., Data Extraction and Synthesis: Two reviewers independently selected studies and extracted data. Primary outcomes were the risk of total adverse events (AEs), serious AEs and severe AEs, expressed as relative risk (RR) with 95% CI. Secondary outcomes contained the incidence of individual adverse symptoms, AE-related treatment discontinuation and compliance., Results: Twenty-six articles were identified from 2039 searched records, of which 14 studies (n=2540) compared furazolidone with other antibiotics. The eradication rates of furazolidone-containing regimen were higher than those of other antibiotics in both intention-to-treat (RR 1.06, 95% CI 1.01 to 1.12) and per-protocol analysis (RR 1.05, 95% CI 1.00 to 1.10). Only two serious AEs were reported in furazolidone group (2/1221, 0.16%). No significant increased risk was observed for the incidence of total AEs (RR 1.04, 95% CI 0.89 to 1.21) and severe AEs (RR 1.81, 95% CI 0.91 to 3.60). Twelve studies (n=3139) compared different durations of furazolidone, and four studies (n=343) assessed variable doses. Elevated risk of total AEs and severe AEs were only found in a high daily dose of furazolidone rather than prolonged duration. The incidence of AE-related treatment discontinuation and compliance of patients were all similar, irrespective of dose and duration adjustments., Conclusion: Furazolidone-containing regimen has a similar risk of AEs and compliance as non-furazolidone-containing regimen. Objective: In this study we aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of two personalized rescue therapies for Helicobacter pylori infection., Methods: An open-label, single-center, randomized controlled trial was conducted. Patients who had failed one or two regimens for H. pylori infection were randomized to receive a 14-day bismuth-containing quadruple therapy guided by antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) or personal medication history (PMH). In the AST group, either two of amoxicillin, clarithromycin, metronidazole or levofloxacin were prescribed according to the AST. In the PMH group, amoxicillin plus either levofloxacin or furazolidone were prescribed based on the patient's history of quinolone use. The primary outcomes were eradication rates confirmed by an urea breath test 6 weeks after treatment. The secondary outcomes were adherence, incidence of adverse events (AE) and cost-effectiveness., Results: Altogether 164 with a positive culture received AST-guided therapy and 192 received PMH-guided therapy, respectively. Both AST- and PMH-guided therapies achieved comparable eradication rate (intention-to-treat analysis: 78.10% vs 74.29%, P = 0.42; per-protocol analysis: 87.10% vs 88.64%, P = 0.80). The AST clarithromycin regimen had a lower per-protocol eradication rate than the levofloxacin (75.47% vs 96.30%, P = 0.03) or furazolidone-containing regimen (75.47% vs 92.75%, P = 0.02). Both groups had high compliance with low incidences of AE, and PMH-guided therapy had a lower medical cost., Conclusions: AST-guided therapy was not superior to PMH-guided therapy as a second- or third-line treatment for H. pylori infection. Background and Aims: Quality control can decrease variations in the performance of colonoscopists and improve the effectiveness of colonoscopy to prevent colorectal cancers. Unfortunately, routine quality control is difficult to carry out because a practical method is lacking. The aim of this study was to develop an automatic quality control system (AQCS) and assess whether it could improve polyp and adenoma detection in clinical practice., Methods: First, we developed AQCS based on deep convolutional neural network models for timing of the withdrawal phase, supervising withdrawal stability, evaluating bowel preparation, and detecting colorectal polyps. Next, consecutive patients were prospectively randomized to undergo routine colonoscopies with or without the assistance of AQCS. The primary outcome of the study was the adenoma detection rate (ADR) in the AQCS and control groups., Results: A total of 659 patients were enrolled and randomized. A total of 308 and 315 patients were analyzed in the AQCS and control groups, respectively. AQCS significantly increased the ADR (0.289 vs 0.165, P < .001) and the mean number of adenomas per procedure (0.367 vs 0.178, P < .001) compared with the control group. A significant increase was also observed in the polyp detection rate (0.383 vs 0.254, P = .001) and the mean number of polyps detected per procedure (0.575 vs 0.305, P < .001). In addition, the withdrawal time (7.03 minutes vs 5.68 minutes, P < .001) and adequate bowel preparation rate (87.34% vs 80.63%, P = .023) were superior for the AQCS group., Conclusions: AQCS could effectively improve the performance of colonoscopists during the withdrawal phase and significantly increase polyp and adenoma detection. Objective: To analyze and compare the disease burden of falls in Chinese population aged 0-19, in 1990 and 2017. Methods: Indicators including number of deaths, mortality rates, years of life lost due to premature mortality (YLL), years lived with disability (YLD) and disability-adjusted of life years (DALY), on falls, were gathered from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2017 and used to describe the disease burden and corresponding parameters on falls, between 1990 and 2017, in China. Results: In 2017, number of death, YLLs, YLDs, DALYs caused by falls were 5 321, 0.43 million person years, 0.14 million person years and 0.57 million person years respectively, among aged 0-19 group. Rates on standardized mortality, YLLs, YLDs and DALYs on falls were 1.76/100 000, 141.49/100 000, 46.99/100 000, and 188.48/100 000, respectively. The burden of falls decreased with the increase of age. Compared with 1990, disease burden of falls decreased in all age groups, both in male and female, with more seen in the lower age groups. Compared with 1990, the number of deaths, rates on YLLs, YLDs and DALYs caused by falls decreased by 65.08 % , 46.63 % , 47.38 % and 36.33 % respectively, in 2017. However, the YLDs rate increased by 73.31 % between 1990 and 2017. The ratio of YLLs to DALYs decreased from 90.84 % in 1990 to 75.07 % in 2017, with a proportion as 17.36 % . Conclusion: Compared with 1990, although the disease burden of falls among aged 0-19 group showed a decreasing trend, falls still caused serious disease burden for the aged 0-19 group. Research that targeting prevention on falls, should be continued.

Objective: To understand the current situation of road traffic injuries among primary and secondary school students in Mengzi city. Methods: Using the cluster random sampling method, more than 9 000 primary and secondary school students from 20 primary and secondary schools in Mengzi city, were randomly sampled. A questionnaire survey was conducted on the occurrence of road traffic injuries in school students. Results: A total of 9 197 students were surveyed, including 150 from road traffic injuries. The incidence rates of road traffic injuries was 1.63 % among students in Mengzi city and 2.85 % among junior high school students, with the high incidence in May. The leading places of injuries were village roads (38.00 % ), city roads (33.33 % ) and district roads (12.67 % ), respectively. 26.67 % of the traffic injuries occurred on the way to or from schools, with riding on electric bicycle (52.00 % ) as the major cause and contusion/abrasion (75.33 % ) appeared as the major signs. Both lower and upper limbs plus multiple parts were accounting for 45.51 % , 22.16 % and 16.17 % , respectively of all the injuries. 70.67 % of all the cases with road traffic injuries in children, recovered after treatment. Children with road traffic injuries would stay in the hospital for up to 90 days but spent less than 30 000 Yuan. Conclusion: The incidence of road traffic injuries among students in Mengzi city seemed relatively high, with junior high school students reached the highest. Riding electric bicycle appeared as the leading cause for traffic injuries in children in Mengzi city of Yunnan province.

Objective: To analyze the disease burden of animal injury in China between 1990 and 2016. Methods: Data obtained from the Global Burden of Disease 2016 were used to analyze the age and gender specific disease burden of animal injury in China, using the incidence and disability adjusted of life years (DALYs) rate. Relative and annual changes were evaluated. Results: In 2016, the age-standardized incidence and DALYs rate of animal injury in China showed as 245.05 per 100 000 people and 12.73 per 100 000. The age-standardized incidence of non-venomous animal injury was significantly higher than that of venomous animal injury, but the differences in age-standardized incidence and DALYs rate between venomous animal injury and non-venomous animal injury were not significant. Between 1990 and 2016, there was a significantly decreasing trend in the age-standardized incidence and DALYs rate of animal injury, and obvious decline could be seen in the incidence of non-venomous animal injury, compared with venomous animal injury. The incidence and DALYs rate of animal injury declined in both males and females and in different age groups. The obvious decline of incidence and DALYs rate could be found in children aged 5-14 years and aged <5 years. Conclusions: Between 1990 and 2016, there was a significant alleviation of the disease burden of animal injury in China. Young children were most prone to animal injury, resulting in serious disability and death, indicating more attention should be paid to this population at high risk and in animal injury prevention and control programs.

We perform the first global QCD analysis of parton distribution functions (PDFs) in the pion, combining πA Drell-Yan data with leading neutron electroproduction from HERA within a Monte Carlo approach based on nested sampling. Inclusion of the HERA data allows the pion PDFs to be determined down to much lower values of x, with relatively weak model dependence from uncertainties in the chiral splitting function. The combined analysis reveals that gluons carry a significantly higher pion momentum fraction, ∼30%, than that inferred from Drell-Yan data alone, with sea quarks carrying a somewhat smaller fraction, ∼15%, at the input scale. Within the same effective theory framework, the chiral splitting function and pion PDFs can be used to describe the d[over ¯]-u[over ¯] asymmetry in the proton.

Objective: To explore the disease burden of road injuries in China. Methods: The results of Global Burden of Disease 2013 including death rate, disability-adjusted of life years (DALY), years of life lost due to premature mortality (YLL), years lived with disability (YLD), were used to describe the burden caused by road injuries in 2013 and the trends from 1990 to 2013, in China. Results: In 2013, there were 313 676 deaths caused by traffic accidents in China. Death rate, rates on DALY, YLL and YLD were 22.52 per 100 000, 1 076.54 per 100 000, 971.21 per 100 000 and 105.34 per 100 000, respectively. Rates on deaths, YLL and YLD appeared higher in males, pedestrians than in females and other types of road travelers. Burden of injuries caused by traffic accidents was seen higher in those aged 15 to 49-year-old. From 1990 to 2013, the overall death rate on road injuries increased by 0.54 per 100 000 in China, with an increase of 2.34 per 100 000 and 0.81 per 100 000, respectively in males and pedestrians. The rates on DALY, YLL and YLD decreased by 164.21 per 100 000, 115.06 per 100 000 and 49.06 per 100 000, respectively. Conclusions: During the past 20 years, achievements had been made on road injury prevention and control, with the decrease of disease burden caused by road accidents. Males, young adults and pedestrians should be called for more attention to prevent road injuries.

Objective: To analyze the disease burden of falls in Chinese population aged 70 and over, in 1990 and 2013 and to provide evidence for the development of prevention strategies on falls in the elderly. Methods: Indicators including mortality rate, years of life lost due to premature mortality (YLL), years lived with disability (YLD) and disability-adjusted of life years (DALY) on falls, were gathered from the results of Global Burden of Disease 2013 and used to describe the disease burden of falls in China by calculating the changing rates on corresponding parameters in 1990 and 2013. Results: In 2013, the number of deaths, YLLs, YLDs, DALYs caused by falls among Chinese population aged 70 and over were 48 800, 0.44 million person years, 0.30 millions person years, and 0.74 million person years, respectively. The standardized mortality rate, rates on YLLs, YLDs and DALYs of falls were 561.71 per 100 000, 55.87 per 100 000, 373.98 per 100 000 and 929.85 per 100 000, respectively. The burden of falls increased along with the increase of age. Compared with 1990, the number of deaths, YLLs, YLDs and DALYs caused by falls increased by 308.80 % , 161.01 % , 54.67 % and 104.47 % , respectively, in 2013, more seen in males than in females. The standardized mortality rate, YLLs and DALYs caused by falls increased by 63.67 % , 38.54 % and 73.08 % , respectively, during 1990 and 2013. However, the standardized YLDs rate fell by 17.90 % during the same period. Conclusion: Falls caused heavy disease burden which increased in 1990 and 2013 among the Chinese population aged 70 and over.

Objective: To analyze the burden and changes caused by burns among Chinese population, from 1990 to 2013. Methods: Using the G20 data and the China national and subnational data from GBD2013, this study deemed to comprehensively show the burden caused by burns and the change from 1990 to 2013, using the indicators of death and DALY. Results: In 2013, the standardized mortality of burns in Chinese was 0.88/100 000, with the standardized DALY rate of burn as 30.58/100 000. The ratio of DALY between males and females was 1.85 ∶ 1. Among the G20 countries, China ranked 16 for the standardized DALY rate, according to the top down order. The highest death rate was seen in the age group of 70 and over, followed by age group of 5, which had the highest DALY rate and followed by the 70 or older age group. In different provinces, Guizhou presented the highest DALY rate (50.24/100 000), with Aomen area the lowest (6.16/100 000). From 1990 to 2013, the burden of burn reduced generally. Both the standardized rates on death and DALY reduced by 68.10 % and 76.95 % respectively, more in females than in males. Standardized rates on death and DALY reduced among all the age groups, with the rates of reduction increasing by age. From 1990 to 2013, the DALY rate decreased in all the provinces. Conclusions: The burden of burn decreased in Chinese population during 1990-2013. However, the burden of burn among children, elderly and males were still relatively high that called for closer attention.

Acute hormone secretion triggered by G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) activation underlies many fundamental physiological processes. GPCR signalling is negatively regulated by β-arrestins, adaptor molecules that also activate different intracellular signalling pathways. Here we reveal that TRV120027, a β-arrestin-1-biased agonist of the angiotensin II receptor type 1 (AT1R), stimulates acute catecholamine secretion through coupling with the transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily C 3 (TRPC3). We show that TRV120027 promotes the recruitment of TRPC3 or phosphoinositide-specific phospholipase C (PLCγ) to the AT1R-β-arrestin-1 signalling complex. Replacing the C-terminal region of β-arrestin-1 with its counterpart on β-arrestin-2 or using a specific TAT-P1 peptide to block the interaction between β-arrestin-1 and PLCγ abolishes TRV120027-induced TRPC3 activation. Taken together, our results show that the GPCR-arrestin complex initiates non-desensitized signalling at the plasma membrane by coupling with ion channels. This fast communication pathway might be a common mechanism of several cellular processes.

We compute the d[over ¯]-u[over ¯] asymmetry in the proton in chiral effective theory, including both nucleon and Δ degrees of freedom, within the relativistic and heavy baryon frameworks. In addition to the distribution at x>0, we compute the corrections to the asymmetry from zero momentum contributions from pion rainbow and bubble diagrams at x=0, which have not been accounted for in previous analyses. We find that the empirical x dependence of d[over ¯]-u[over ¯] as well as the integrated asymmetry can be well reproduced in terms of a transverse momentum cutoff parameter.

To expand the evidence base to inform future public policy aimed at accident prevention, we investigated the impact of different categories of injury on average life expectancy in China. We used data from the National Death Cause Registration Information System and National Maternity and Children Health Surveillance databases, as well as 2010 population data from the National Bureau of Statistics. We then calculated the average life expectancy of the Chinese population, in addition to life expectancy after eliminating injury-related mortality. The average life expectancy of the Chinese population in 2010 was 74.93 years. After eliminating deaths due to injuries, the fourth leading cause of mortality in China, average life expectancy increased by 1.36 years. When this was broken down by population sub-groups, these gains were 1.76 and 0.79 years in men and women, 0.94 and 1.56 years in urban and rural residents, and 1.11, 1.30, and 1.67 years for residents in the Eastern, Central and Western regions respectively. After eliminating all categories of injury, the average life expectancy of the Chinese population was found to increase by 1.36 years. Purpose: To analyze the influence of body mass index (BMI) and adipose tissue distribution on prostate-specific antigen (PSA) bounce after iodine-125 prostate brachytherapy., Methods and Materials: We studied 20 patients who had PSA bounce (≥0.50ng/mL) after exclusive prostate brachytherapy. These patients were compared with 48 patients without a bounce (<0.50ng/mL). All patients in the comparison group had a followup of ≥24 months and a last PSA ≤0.5ng/mL. Within these 48 patients, there was a group matched for age (n=20). Univariate and multivariate logistic models were estimated to assess the association between age, baseline PSA, prostate volume, D(90), visceral fat (VF) volume, and BMI on PSA-bouncing status., Results: When comparing the patients with a bounce to those without, only BMI showed a significantly different distribution (mean, 25.18 vs. 27.47kg/m(2); p=0.0342). On a multivariate analysis, BMI had an odds ratio of 0.85 (95% confidence interval, 0.71-0.99, p=0.049), indicating that an increase of 1kg/m(2) in BMI is associated with a 15% reduction in the odds of having a bounce. In the univariate analysis with the matching patients, BMI was a significant predictor of a bounce (p=0.0147). In the multivariate conditional logistic model, BMI showed a trend toward an influence on a bounce (p=0.0615). All other factors, including VF, did not have any influence on a PSA bounce., Conclusions: Patients with a lower BMI are more likely to experience a PSA bounce ≥0.50ng/mL. Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the methods of treatment on Class III malocclusion with mandibular deviations, and clarify the principles of expansion and multiloop edgewise arch wire technique., Methods: 8 skeletal class III with mandibular deviations patients were selected (male 3, female 5, aged 12-18). They were all corrected with maxillary expansion and multiloop edgewise arch wire technique., Results: In all cases, molar relationships were class I, the overbite and the overjet were normal, and the upper and lower midline were harmony., Conclusion: Mild and moderate skeletal class III with mandibular deviation can be corrected successfully by maxillary expansion and multiloop edgewise arch wire technique.

Aim: To study the chemical constituents from Corallodiscus flabellata., Methods: Fresh plant of Corallodiscus flabellata was extracted twice with boiling water, filtered to remove insoluble materials, concentrated under reduced pressure at temperature 55 degrees C to a small volume. The concentrated liquor was subjected to solvent-solvent partitioning using ether, ethyl acetate, and n-butanol (saturated with water). The fraction of ethyl acetate extract was chromatographed over macroporous adsorption resin (Diaion HP-20) eluted with a mixture of H2O and MeOH in increasing MeOH content. Their fractions from resin were repeatedly chromatographed over Sephadex LH-20, Toyopearl HW-40, gel MCI, Gel CHP-20 and silica gel column. Structures of compounds obtained were identified on the basis of their spectral data, hydrolysis and chemical correlation., Results: Two phenylethanoid glycosides (I, II) and three phenolic acids were obtained from the EtOAc fraction of water-extracts. Their structures were identified as 3,4-dihydroxyphenylethanol-8-O-[beta-D-apiofuranosyl (1-->2)]-beta-D-glucopyranoside (I), 3,4-dihydroxyphenylethanol-8-O-[(5-O- Vanilloyl)-beta-D-apiofuranosyl(1-->2)]-beta-D-glucopyranoside (II), vanillic acid (III), syringic acid (IV) and ferulic acid (V)., Conclusion: I and II are new compounds. Compounds III, IV and V were isolated from this plant for the first time.

Their structures were elucidated as 3,4-dihydroxyphenylethanol-8-O-[beta-D-apiofuranosyl (1-->3)]-beta-D-glucopyranoside (I), 3,4-dihydroxyphenylethanol-8-O-[4-O-trans-caffeoyl-beta-D-apiofuranosyl (1-->3)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-->6)]-beta-D-glucopyranoside (II) and 3,4-dihydroxyphenylethanol-8-O-[beta-D-apiofuranosyl(1-->3)-beta- D-glucopyranosyl-(1-->6)]-beta-D-glucopyranoside (III)., Conclusion: Compounds I, II and III are new compounds.

Aim: To study the chemical constituents of the pine needles of Pinus massoniana lamb.., Methods: Various chromatographic techniques were used to separate and purify. Their physico-chemical properties and spectral data (UV, IR, MS, 1H-1 H COSY, HMQC, DEPT, HMBC and ORD ect.) were measured for structure elucication., Results: Three compounds were isolated from the n-BuOH fraction of water-extracts. Their structures were identified as massonianoside A (4), massonianoside A: (7S, 8R)-3, 4, 9'-trihydroxyl-3-methyoxyl-7, 8-dihydrobenzofunan-1'-propanolneoligan-9-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranoside, massonianoside C (5), (7S, 8R)-9,9'-dihydroxyl-3,3'-dimethyoxyl-7,8-dihydrobenzofunan-1'- propanolneoligan-4-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranoside and cedrusin-4-O-beta-glucoside (6), (7S, 8R)-3',9,9'-trihydroxyl-3-methoxyl-7,8-dihydrobenzofunan-1'- propanolneoligan-4-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside., Conclusion: Compound 4 and 5 are new compounds.

Aim: To analyze the hydrolyzable tannins-chebulinic acid (I) and chebulagic acid(II) in Fructus Chebulae and its confusion varieties by using high performance capillary electrophoresis (HPCE) method., Methods: Using a capillary (375 microns OD x 50 microns ID; 81.5 cm x 61.5 cm) and a power supply set at 24 kV, with phosphate-borate buffer containing 20 mmol.L-1 Na2HPO4-60 mmol.L-1 boric acid and a UV detector at 280 nm, sample solution was loaded in decompression mode at the positive end of the capillary, the loading time was 5 s., Results: The linear ranges of I and II were 0.0842-0.842 and 0.842 and 0.0940-0.940 mg.mL-1 respectively, the correlation coefficient were 0.9966 and 0.9957, the average recoveries were 95.6% (RSD = 4.0%, n = 5) and 95.0% (RSD = 4.4%, n = 5), the RSDs (n = 5) of measurement precision test were 2.2% and 1.7%, the RSDs (n = 6) of reproduction test were 5.4% and 4.0% respectively. The contents of I and II were obviously interrelated with the variety and characteristics of Fructus Chebulae, the contents of I and II in the confusion varieties of Fructus Chebulae were very low., Conclusion: It is suitable to use I and II as the criterion in quality evaluation of Fructus Chebulae, and the HPCE method is effective for quality evaluation of the crude Fructus Chebulae.

A new (-)-4-oxo-2,6-bis-(3',4'-methylenedioxy phenyl)-3, 7-dioxabicyclo[3, 3, 0] octane lignan, genkdaphin was isolated from the leaves of Daphne genkwa Sieb. et Zucc. mp 118-119.5 degrees C, C20H16O7 (HRMS, 368.08631, M+), [alpha]27D-64.8 degrees (c 0.5, CHCl3). On the basis of UV, IR, MS, 1H and 13CNMR spectral analysis, the structure of the genkdaphin has been established as (-)-4-oxosesamin.
