Objective·To explore the predictive value of diuretic renal scintigraphy parameters such as 20-minute residual rate (R20) for pyeloplasty in children with congenital unilateral ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO).Methods·The clinical data and diuretic renal scintigraphy results of 110 children with congenital unilateral UPJO who were first treated at the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Xinhua Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine from August 2018 to August 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. The imaging results and the progress of hydronephrosis were followed up after the first diuretic renal scintigraphy. According to the outcome event of pyeloplasty due to the progression of hydronephrosis, the children were divided into operation group and non-operation group. Age, gender, side of hydronephrosis, and baseline diuretic renal scintigraphy parameters including blood perfusion rate (BPR), differential renal function (DRF), time to peak (Tmax), time to half (T1/2) and R20 were compared between the two groups. Logistic regression was used to analyze the effect of various parameters on the progression of hydronephrosis. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to analyze the predictive value of diuretic renal scintigraphy parameters for surgical intervention. Wilcoxon test was used to compare the examination parameters of two diuretic renal dynamic imaging.Results·During the follow-up, 60 children underwent pyeloplasty after progression, and the other 50 children did not progress. The differences in DRF, Tmax, T1/2 and R20 between the two groups of children at baseline were statistically significant (all P0.05).Conclusion·R20 plays an important role in the prediction of pyeloplasty in children with congenital unilateral UPJO. For children with R20≥90.08%, pyeloplasty should be performed as soon as possible to prevent further deterioration of renal function.

Objective: To compare the haemodynamic effects of different ankle movements combined ankle and toe movements on the femoral vein of the lower extremity. Methods: 28 healthy volunteers participated in the study. Doppler ultrasound was used to measure peak systolic velocity and time-averaged mean velocity of the common femoral vein during ankle dorsiflexion, ankle dorsiflexion with simultaneous toe extension, ankle plantarflexion, and ankle plantarflexion with simultaneous toe flexion. Results: In comparison to the resting state, both ankle alone or ankle combined with toe movement showed statistically significant differences (p <.01). However, there were no significant difference in the velocity of the common femoral vein between ankle alone and ankle combined with toe movement (p >.05). It is noteworthy that dorsiflexion of the ankle resulted in the highest peak velocity of blood flow. Conclusion: The impact of ankle movement, with or without toe movement, the velocity of the common femoral vein is not significantly correlated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND: Currently, cerebral infarction (CI) is mainly treated by emergency craniotomy or conservative treatment. However, some studies have questioned the functional recovery of patients after hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)-specialized care. OBJECTIVE: This paper mainly explores the influence of HBOT-specialized care on limb motor function (LMF) and mental state of CI patients with hemiplegia. METHODS: The medical records of 113 CI patients with hemiplegia treated in our hospital from March 2020 to March 2022 were collected. Of these, 53 received routine care nursing (conventional group) and 60 cases were given HBOT-specialized care (research group). Patient general data, scores of Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Self-rating Anxiety/Depression Scale (SAS/SDS) and Barthel Index (BI), and nursing efficiency were comparatively analyzed. RESULTS: The two groups showed comparability in general data. FMA and BI scores were increased in the research group after rehabilitation treatment, higher than the baseline and those of the conventional group, while NIHSS, SAS, and SDS scores were reduced, lower compared with baseline and those of the conventional group. In addition, significantly higher nursing efficiency was determined in the research group. CONCLUSION: HBOT-specialized care has beneficial effects on LMF, mental state, negative emotions and self-care ability of CI patients with hemiplegia and can enhance nursing efficacy, which deserves clinical popularization. Weekly PM2.5 samples were collected in Shanghai, China at two sites, Tongji University and Hainan Road. Sampling started in March 1999 and was conducted for 1 year. The ambient mass concentration and chemical composition of the PM2.5 were determined. Chemical analyses included elemental composition, water-soluble ions, and organic and elemental carbon. Weekly PM2.5 mass concentrations ranged from 21 to 147 μg/m3, with annual average concentrations of 57.9 and 61.4 μg/m3 at the two sites, respectively. Seasonal variation of PM2.5 concentrations was significant, with the highest concentrations observed from mid-November through December and the lowest from June through September. Ammonium sulfate and nitrate accounted for 41.6% of the PM2.5 mass with sulfate alone accounting for 23.4% of the PM2.5 mass. Carbonaceous material accounted for 41.4% of the PM2.5 mass, with 73% of that mass being organic, as defined by the TOR analysis method. Crustal components averaged 9.6% of the PM2.5 mass. Potassium, which was 95% water soluble, accounted for 2.7% of the PM2.5 mass. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Purpose: To evaluate the role of semiquantitative parameters derived from 18 F-FDG PET/CT in characterizing pediatric malignant kidney tumors., Methods: 54 children with pathologically confirmed renal malignancies who underwent pretreatment 18 F-FDG PET/CT were retrospectively reviewed. Association between PET-derived semiquantitative parameters, including maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), mean standardized uptake value (SUVmean), metabolic tumor volume (MTV) and total lesion glycolysis (TLG), and tumor histology, disease stage, and loss of heterozygosity were analyzed., Results: Of the 54 patients, 43 had Wilms tumor (WT), 4 had clear cell sarcoma of the kidney (CCSK), 3 had rhabdoid tumor of kidney, 2 had renal cell carcinoma, and 2 had congenital mesoblastic nephroma. 18 F-FDG PET/CT detected all primary renal tumors, with SUVmax ranging from 1.2 to 14.5. PET-derived parameters showed no significant differences among different tumor types, except for CCSK, which exhibited lower FDG uptake compared to WT (SUVmax 3.60 ± 1.02 vs. 6.10 ± 2.25, p = 0.034). Higher MTV, TLG, and lactate dehydrogenase were associated with stage IV disease. ROC analysis showed that TLG had the highest AUC (0.931) for predicting stage IV disease in the whole cohort, while SUVmax had the highest AUC (0.867) for predicting stage IV and V in WT. Furthermore, Children with 1q gain exhibited higher MTV in WT (447 ± 354 vs. 207 ± 189, p = 0.041)., Conclusion: PET-derived semiquantitative parameters highly associated with disease stage both in the overall cohort of renal malignancies and specifically in the WT group.
