Given the rapid increase of the senior population around the world, the current research documents how the concept of time influences the job preferences of older and younger adults in an organizational behavior context. Study 1 reported that older adults devoted significantly more attention towards the present compared to the past and future, while younger adults showed a small preference towards the future compared to the past and present. Mediation analyses revealed that older adults' reduced sense of time remaining in life led to them devoting less time to the future. A novel finding from the current work was that sense of time remaining in life also significantly suppressed the relationship between age and present temporal focus. That is, an increased sense of time remaining in life was actually associated with enhanced focus on the present among seniors. Study 2 investigated the downstream consequences of temporal focus by examining older and younger adults' preferences for present- and future-focused job opportunities. Findings revealed that older adults showed a distinct preference for present-focused job opportunities over future-focused ones, whereas younger individuals reported the opposite pattern. These findings highlight how the concept of time influences individuals of varying ages in unique ways, leading to important differences in both cognition and behavior. Most patients with liver cancer were found late and lost the chance of surgery. Liquid biopsy can monitor the risk of tumor recurrence and metastasis, quickly evaluate the curative effect of tumor treatment, and is conducive to early screening and auxiliary diagnosis of high-risk groups. Amino acid (AA) profiling has been used to the diagnosis and the prognosis for cancers. However, little was known about the profiles of AA of liver cancer. In this study, we used tRNA in Cancer database to analyze the AA levels in liver cancer tissues. Blood samples of patients with liver cancer were collected and analyzed using the automatic AA analyzer. We found that valine, isoleucine, and leucine were decreased significantly both in the plasma and the tumor tissues of patients with liver cancer. However, upregulation of methionine was observed in tissues and plasma of patients with liver cancer. Interestingly, tyrosine, and phenylalanine were decreased in tumor tissue but increased in the plasma of patients with liver cancer. This is the first report provided an overview of AA profile in both plasma and tissue for patients with liver cancer. AA levels can be used as diagnostic and prognostic markers of patients with liver cancer.

Two-dimensional (2D) hybrid organic–inorganic perovskites (HOIPs) have garnered plentiful attention as a result of their exceptional structural flexibility and multiple applications. In this study, we present a 2D HOIP (CHA)2PbBr4 (CHA = cyclohexylamine), for its potential applications in piezoelectricity, such as strain energy sensing and harvesting. Flexible composite films of (CHA)2PbBr4/PDMS (PDMS = polydimethylsiloxane) with a sequence of weight ratios (0, 5, 10, 15, 20 wt %) of (CHA)2PbBr4 were fabricated to analyze the energy harvesting properties. Experimental results demonstrated that a device with 15% composition exhibited the most optimized performance in energy harvesting, producing a peak magnitude of output voltage of 11.6 V, a short-circuit current of 0.38 µA, and a power density of 6.77 µW/cm2, along with notable stability exceeding 4000 cycles. Furthermore, this device exhibited high sensitivity in monitoring many varieties of human movements, such as finger bending and tapping, elbow bending, and gentle foot stamping. Objective: Across three experiments (N = 622), we investigated the effect of the future temporal perspective on wise reasoning within the context of interpersonal conflicts. Method: Studies 1 and 2 applied two heterogeneous measurements of wise reasoning: self‐report and open‐ended measurements. Participants reasoned about their recent interpersonal conflicts from a future (i.e., 1 year from now) or a present perspective. Similarly, Study 3 tested the relationship between various future temporal distances (i.e., 1 week, 1 year, 10 years, 30 years from now) and wise reasoning. Results: The future temporal perspective significantly promoted wise reasoning compared to the present perspective, especially when the focus was 30 years in the future. Moreover, reasoning about a conflict event from a future perspective first might cause a carry‐over effect on reasoning from the present perspective later. The cross‐cultural universality of people's pursuit of positive self‐esteem is frequently disputed. Most research in this area has contrasted cultures of dignity (Western) and face cultures (East Asian), but less attention has been given to other cultures' views of self‐esteem. In the present work, we examined Pakistan as uniquely influenced by honour culture and South Asian argumentation culture principles, and we contrasted it with Canada (a Western culture of dignity). Across two studies, Pakistanis had less positive self‐esteem discrepancies (i.e., Pakistanis had minimal or no desire for higher self‐esteem) compared to Canadians (who desired much higher self‐esteem than they actually had). Pakistanis also believed less in the agentic benefits of high self‐esteem but more in the communal benefits of high self‐esteem than did Canadians. Differences in each cultures' beliefs about self‐esteem's causal powers partially accounted for the differences in self‐esteem discrepancies. This study focuses on separating a mixture consisting of 1,2-ethanediol (1,2-ED), 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PD), and 1,4-butanediol (1,4-BD). Vapor–liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for 1,2-ED + 1,4-BD and 1,3-PD + 1,4-BD are determined at 101.3 kPa using a modified Rose equilibrium still. The consistency of the VLE data is checked with both Redlich–Kister and Fredenslund tests. The VLE data are fitted by the Wilson, NRTL, and UNIQUAC activity coefficient models. All three models can effectively correlate the VLE data. Then, the separation of the mixture is designed with the NRTL model and its correlated binary interaction parameters. A liquid-only transfer dividing wall column (LDWC) is investigated on the basis of a direct conventional distillation sequence (DCDS). For a fair comparison, both DCDS and LDWC are optimized to minimize total annual cost using sequential iterative optimization procedures. After optimization, LDWC exhibits a 16.87% reduction in total annual cost, while cooling and heating utility consumptions are reduced by 28.40% and 19.24% compared to DCDS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
