Background: Interest in water chemical activity, its content, and its impact on human health has greatly increased throughout the last decade. Some studies suggest that drinking water with high hardness may have preventative effects on cardiovascular diseases. This study aims to investigate the association between drinking water hardness and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality. Methods: The study selection process was designed to find the association between drinking water hardness and CVDs mortality. The search included both qualitative and quantitative research and was performed in three databases: Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics, Ann Arbor, MI, USA), PubMed (National Institute of Health, Bethesda, MA, USA), and Scopus (Elsevier, RELX Group plc, London, UK). The project was registered in the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO), registration number: CRD42020213102. Results: Seventeen studies out of a total of twenty-five studies qualitatively analyzed indicated a significant relation between total water hardness and protection from CVD mortality. The quantitative analysis concluded that high drinking water hardness has a significantly lowering effect on mortality from CVDs, however, the heterogeneity was high. Conclusions: This systematic literature review shows that total water hardness could affect CVD prevention and mortality. Due to the many confounding factors in the studies, more research is needed.

Projektowanie komór mikrotunelowych związane jest z podejmowaniem wielu niezależnych decyzji dotyczących zagadnień technicznych, technologicznych, ekonomicznych i społecznych. Jedną z metod pomocnych w tym zakresie, aby podjąć racjonalne i przemyślane decyzje, jest metoda AHP (analityczny proces hierarchiczny). W artykule przedstawiono procedurę określenia wspomagania podjęcia decyzji przez projektanta na podstawie metodyki AHP wraz z przykładem obliczeniowym. Na podstawie uzyskanych rezultatów można stwierdzić, która z metod jest „lepsza” do zastosowania przy projektowaniu komory mikrotunelowej, uwzględniając wszystkie analizowane kryteria i subkryteria. Metoda AHP pozwala również określić „jakość” oceny rzeczoznawcy poprzez wartości oszacowanych parametrów CR i CI.

Niniejsza praca omawia istotny problem związany z klasyfikacją i właściwym zdefiniowaniem wielkości pompowni melioracyjnych. Podstawowa definicja wielkości jest bardzo szeroka, zatem ze względu na liczbę objaśniających ją parametrów wymaga precyzyjnego uściślenia. W dotychczasowych ocenach rozmiarów pompowni melioracyjnych posługiwano się na ogół wrażeniami osobistymi opartymi na subiektywnym odczuciu, które z kolei jest oparte na nieznanej liczbie parametrów. Pojawiające się przy tym trudności z określeniem przynależności obiektów do danej grupy wielkości wynikały głównie z luk informacyjnych dotyczących właściwej granicy podziału pomiędzy poszczególnymi grupami. W niniejszej pracy, do klasyfikacji i podziału pompowni według ich wielkości zastosowano takie ich parametry jak: moc nominalna pompowni P w kW, wydajność całkowita Q w m3 · s oraz zasięg oddziaływania pompowni Fp w ha, dla 270 losowo wybranych obiektów melioracyjnych w Polsce. Do rozwiązania problemu wykorzystano jedną z wielokryterialnych metod podejmowania decyzji (MCDM), opartą na mechanizmach logiki rozmytej, noszącą nazwę metody obiektów charakterystycznych (COMET).

The article analysed increased risk of local flooding as a result of reducing the fl ow capacity of ditches. The subject matter is important because of the possibility of reducing the effi ciency of agricultural crops as a result of malfunctioning of midfi eld ditches. The methodology was based on the fundamental equations describing the hydraulic parameters of water fl ow in the river. In order to reduce undesirable phenomenon the authors propose to perform regular maintenance, pointing to the economic justifi cation of the costs incurred related to improving the fl ow capacity of flume.

The aim of this investigation was an assessment of the application effectiveness of three alternatives for rainwater harvesting systems for individual households, in central Great Poland climatic conditions. During the study the amount of storm water, which can be collected from the 3 different size roof areas (80, 135, 185 m2) was assessed, in relation to the needs of a four-person family, for the region of the Tarnowo Podgórne. The receivable amount of rainwater was analysed at a rate of 10, 25, 50% of total annual precipitation occurrence probability, including the lower values, appeared in the period of 1960-2008. For the financial efficiency evaluation of investment, an indicator of the average annual cost per unit (Ws) and the net present value (NPV) were used. The results show that for the Great Poland region with the average annual sum of precipitation of 550mm, only the roof surfaces of 185 m2 and bigger allow obtaining the profits from collected rainwater and reimbursement for building rainwater harvesting installations within 30 years of its operation.
