Designing dancers’ paths in choreography, or a floor pattern, is one of the most highly creative tasks of choreographers. Aiming to assist this task, this paper presents a novel system that automatically generates a number of floor patterns for multiple dancers given a choreographer’s high-level feature inputs. The proposed floor pattern model represents locomotor movements of dancers on stage. Through a dance literature survey, four major features, i.e., time, space, symmetry, and entropy, were selected as feature inputs and mathematically modeled. Our system uses a multi-objective genetic algorithm to achieve desired floor patterns given input features. It iterates from random floor patterns to the ones that satisfy users’ preferences while exploring the space of floor pattern with selection, mutation, crossover methods that are developed to fit the genotype of our system. User tests confirmed that our system generates a wide range of floor patterns according to user-specified input conditions. In addition, an actual dance piece was choreographed with the proposed method, which validated the usefulness of the proposed system. The proposed system is the first that automatically generates floor patterns for multiple dancers.

Two red emitters, 2-(7-(4-(diphenylamino)styryl)-2-methyl-4H-chromen-4-ylidene)malonitrile (Red 1) and 2(7-(julolidylvinyl)-2-methyl-4H-chromen-4-ylidene)malonitrile (Red 2) have been designed and synthesized for application as red-light emitters in organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). In these red emitters, the julolidine and triphenyl moieties were introduced to the emitting core as electron donors, and the chromederived electron accepting groups such as 2-methyl-(4H-chromen-4-ylidene)malononitrile were connected to electron donating moieties by vinyl groups. To explore the electroluminescence properties of these materials, multilayered OLEDs using red materials (Red 1 and Red 2) as dopants in Alq3 host were fabricated. In particular, a device using Red 1 as the dopant material showed maximum luminous efficiencies and power efficiencies of 0.82 cd/A and 0.33 lm/W at 20 mA/cm 2 . Also, a device using Red 2 as a dopant material presented the CIEx,y coordinates of (0.67, 0.32) at 7.0 V.

The Theoretically Audible, but Practically Inaudible Range (TAPIR) is sound in the highest bandwidth of human hearing; it is barely perceptible by most people but can be transmitted and received by stereotypical transducers. The authors suggest the potential of TAPIR sound as a new medium for music, sonic arts and mobile media.
