Abstract

The article reports on analysis of rise in household debt and influence of ease in regulations on debt-to-income (DTI) and loan-to-value (LTV) ratios. Topics discussed include household debt growth due to deregulation on DTI and LTV ratios, minimal growth in real gross domestic product (GDP), a graph showing differences in growth rate of nominal GDP and household debt, decline in the mortgage lending in the insurance industry and increase in leasing prices due to housing transactions increase.
