Creating an effective deep learning technique for accurately diagnosing leak signals across diverse environments is crucial for integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the power plant industry. We propose an automatic weight redistribution ensemble model based on transfer learning (TL) for detecting leaks in diverse power plant environments, overcoming the challenges of site-specific AI methods. This innovative model processes time series acoustic data collected from multiple homogeneous sensors located at different positions into three-dimensional root-mean-square (RMS) and frequency volume features, enabling accurate leak detection. Utilizing a TL-driven, two-stage learning process, we first train residual-network-based models for each domain using these preprocessed features. Subsequently, these models are retrained in an ensemble for comprehensive leak detection across domains, with control weight ratios finely adjusted through a softmax score-based approach. The experiment results demonstrate that the proposed method effectively distinguishes low-level leaks and noise compared to existing techniques, even when the data available for model training are very limited. Simple Summary: This study investigated the effect of altering the meal interval setting in an automatic concentrate feeding system on the precision of the system in monitoring the feed intake and feeding behavior of fattening Hanwoo steers. The experiment, involving 29 steers (nine or ten steers per pen), utilized two interval settings: four and six intervals per day. The automatic concentrate feeding system, which divides one day into several intervals, allows cattle to consume a set amount of concentrate mix during each interval. The study's results indicate that, despite no remarkable change in concentrate intake (p > 0.05), the six-interval setting led to a reduction in concentrate residuals of 0.2 kg per visit (p < 0.05). However, the six-interval setting resulted in fewer visits for forage consumption and decreased forage and total dry matter intakes (p < 0.05). These findings highlight that adjusting these meal intervals affected the feeding behavior and concentrate residuals. This study suggests that a six-interval setting may enhance the precision of the automatic concentrate feeding system in monitoring concentrate intake, although it negatively influences the overall forage consumption. The precision of the ACFS's intake recordings was tested by manually assessing feed residuals per visit using video recordings. Although no difference was observed in the concentrate intake (p > 0.05), the six-interval setting reduced concentrate residuals by 0.2 kg per visit (p < 0.05). The increased interval setting also resulted in fewer visits for forage consumption and decreased forage and total dry matter intakes (p < 0.05). Simple Summary: This study investigated the effect of varying levels of dietary fat in concentrate mixes on growth performance, rumen characteristics, digestibility, blood metabolites, and methane emissions in growing Hanwoo steers. The experiment was conducted for 12 weeks by feeding three concentrate mixes with different levels of dietary fat (i.e., 48, 74, 99 g/kg dry matter [DM] of concentrate mix). Increasing fat levels in the concentrate mix significantly reduced the intake of concentrate mix (p < 0.01); however, there were no significant adverse effects on the growth rate, feed efficiency, and digestibility (p > 0.05). Increasing fat levels also affected the characteristics of rumen fluid, increasing the proportion of propionate (p < 0.01) and decreasing the proportion of butyrate and acetate to propionate in the total volatile fatty acids (p < 0.01). Cholesterol in blood serum increased significantly with increasing fat levels (p < 0.01). The highest fat level showed 18% lower methane concentration in exhaled gas from eructation than the lowest (basal) fat level (p < 0.05). In conclusion, increasing the fat level up to 100 g/kg DM in the concentrate mix reduced methane concentration in the exhaled gas from eructation without altering growth performance in growing Hanwoo steers. Concentrate mix DMI decreased with increasing fat level (p < 0.01). The growth rate and digestibility did not significantly differ based on the fat level (p > 0.05). As the fat level increased, propionate in the total ruminal volatile fatty acids increased, and butyrate and acetate-to-propionate decreased (p < 0.01). Cholesterol in blood serum increased significantly with increasing dietary fat levels (p < 0.01). Methane emissions exhibited a linear decrease with increasing fat level (p < 0.05). We conducted sensitivity analysis (SA) of the INRA 2018 feeding system for ruminants applied to dairy cows. We evaluated which dietary input variables contribute most to changes in each output variable, considering the potential interactions presence among input variables. A quantitative analysis (one-at-a-time analysis, OAT; i.e., local SA) and a relative comparative analysis (global SA, GSA) through variance-based SA considering potential interactions and non-monotonicity were applied. The 5 likely influential dietary input variables were selected: CP, Gross energy (GE), OM apparent digestibility (OMd), effective degradability of nitrogen assuming a passage rate of 6%/h (ED6&#95;N) and true intestinal digestibility of nitrogen. The sensitivity of 5 selected animal responses (output variables) to input variables was analyzed: DMI, milk protein yield (MPY), energy in methane (ECH4), nitrogen utilization efficiency (NUE), and ratio between urine and total N excretion (UN/TN). Six diets for dairy cattle, reflecting the diversity of diets commonly used in practice, were formulated to meet 95% of the potential milk production (37.5 kg/d) of a multiparous dairy cow at wk 14 of lactation. For each diet, the 5 input variables were randomly sampled around the INRA 2018 feed table values (reference point), and the animal responses around this reference situation were calculated using the rationing software INRAtion®V5. In OAT, the sensitivity of animal responses was quantified by calculating the normalized tangent value at the reference point, and in GSA, the Sobol indices were calculated for relative influence of each input and their interaction. The influence of the 5 key input variables on the 5 main animal responses predicted from the INRA feeding system was consistent across both SA approaches. With the 6 diets, GE and OMd appeared as the main contributors to changes in DMI, MPY, ECH4, and NUE. Crude protein was the main contributor to changes in UN/TN and another major contributor to changes in NUE. When considering OAT, the sensitivity of outputs showed differences depending on diet, more particularly for DMI and MPY. With grass hay-based diets (GH diets), DMI was less sensitive and MPY was more sensitive to variations in input variables than other diets. When considering GSA, interactions between input variables were also noticeable for DMI and MPY; the interactions were high with the GH diets for DMI, and with fresh ryegrass and grass silage diets for MPY. On the other hand, for MPY, the non-GH diets were less sensitive to variations in input variables and the interaction between inputs was higher than with GH diets. In both cases, the interactions were mainly related to energy-related inputs (i.e., OMd and GE). Our results support the hypothesis that MPY, unlike DMI, is more responsive to energy-related factors at high PDI/UFL ratio (i.e., between metabolizable protein and NEL, e.g., GH diets >117 g PDI/UFL), than at lower PDI/UFL ratio. Hence, hybridizing the SA methods can help to interpret the system and facilitate a more precise evaluation thereof, especially GSA, which is amenable to non-monotonic models such as those characterizing complex feeding systems integrating multiple nutritional and animal factors., (© 2025, The Authors. Objective: This study investigated the repeatability of feed efficiency and its association with carcass traits in Hanwoo steers during the entire growing and fattening periods., Methods: The growth and intake of thirty-six Hanwoo steers (259±19.7 kg; nine months) were monitored throughout five periods, including two growing periods (GP) and three fattening periods (FP). The steers were fed two types of concentrate mixes with varying nutrient compositions until they reached a target weight of 800 kg for slaughter. For each period, steers were categorized into three classes based on their feed efficiency rankings using residual feed intake (RFI) and feed conversion ratio (FCR). Feed efficiency repeatability was assessed using the Spearman correlation coefficient, decomposition of random errors, and the Theil segregation index (TSI). The Pearson correlation coefficient was used to examine the relationship between feed efficiency and carcass traits., Results: The results demonstrated a significant and high correlation with RFI, but not FCR, during the growing or fattening stages (r>0.5; p<0.01). When steers were classified according to their feed efficiency rankings, 58% of the animals in the high RFI class (low efficient) initially (GP 1) remained in the same class by the last period (FP 3), whereas steers were randomly distributed based on FCR. The repeatability, assessed by the decomposition of random errors, was higher for RFI (0.61) than for FCR (0.15). The TSI also indicated that RFI rankings, rather than FCR rankings, are more likely to be maintained. Moreover, a weak association was observed between feed efficiency and carcass traits., Conclusion: In conclusion, RFI repeatability throughout the GP and FP surpassed that of the FCR, with steers classified as high RFI during the GP more likely to remain in the same class during the FP. Feed efficiency was weakly correlated with carcass traits.
