Coaching has received attention in early childhood education, early intervention, and family science. In the home visiting field, coaching is a distinct professional development tool to improve home visitor effectiveness in meeting the complex needs of families, improve child development outcomes, and meet home visiting field priorities (e.g., home visitor recruitment, retention, and training). Home visitors dually serve in roles as coachees when receiving professional development and as coaches for the families with whom they work. This article focuses on the roles of home visitors as coaches and as coachees. We explore justifications for coaching, models of coaching, the timing of coaching, being recipients of coaching, and the delivery of coaching to recipients. This paper underscores the complexity involved in coaching in the home visiting field and the need for further research to develop a framework and procedures for coaching best practices. Using our exploration of home visitors as coaches and coachees, we propose implications for higher education.

Research Findings: All teachers have demanding jobs and work with limited resources. However, working with young children with disabilities may place additional demands on early childhood special education (ECSE) teachers which may impact their well-being. Using the Job Demands and Resources model, the present study aimed to predict ECSE teachers' job burnout and psychological stress by using their job demands, job resources, and professional internal resources. An online survey was collected from 121 ECSE teachers from a large urban school district in a Western state of the United States. The results showed that job demands (work-related stressors) were positively associated with teachers' job burnout and psychological stress. Job resources (sense of school community) were negatively associated with their job burnout and psychological stress. Teachers' job commitment was negatively associated with job burnout. Though their other internal resources (beliefs about developmentally appropriate practices and teaching-efficacy) were not related to their job burnout and psychological stress, their beliefs about social emotional learning were positively related to job burnout. Practice or Policy: These findings offer implications for research and practice regarding the importance of improving ECSE teachers' well-being and working conditions.

Transition to kindergarten videos (in English and Spanish) are one proposed technology tool to promote parental engagement. Regression analyses were conducted to examine links between parents' video experience and parental self-efficacy, teacher communication, and school communication. High parental self-efficacy was associated with more positive perceptions about teacher communication but less positive perceptions about school communication. Parents' experience of the transition video was not associated with their parental self-efficacy. Viewing videos with children was only associated with lower levels of parental self-efficacy. Implications for practice and future research are discussed.

This study examined whether mother-teacher, father-teacher, teacher-parent, and teacher-child relationships were linked to the socioemotional functioning of children (N = 42) aged 18-40 months. Results indicated that when mothers perceived their child's teacher more positively, fathers perceived the teacher more positively. In turn, teachers also perceived the parents more positively, which was related to their relationship with the child. Though teachers' perceptions of the parent were not directly related to their perceptions of children's socioemotional functioning, the link was mediated through the teacher-child relationship. However, mothers' perceptions of the teacher were not related to the teacher's relationship with the child nor the teacher's perception of the child's socioemotional functioning. Our findings stress the importance of building positive relationships between teachers and children's parents, and that these relationships contribute to teachers' relationships with children and children's socioemotional functioning.

Recent studies have explored surface treatments, such as increasing the hydrophilicity of implant fixtures, to enhance the osseointegration of implants. This prospective clinical study aimed to assess the clinical stability and efficacy of plasma treatment applied to implants with sandblast−acid etching (SLA) surfaces before placement. Twenty-eight patients requiring implant placement provided consent and were assigned randomly to either the SLA group without plasma treatment or the SLA/plasma group with plasma treatment. Recall checks were conducted one and three months after the first-stage surgery, followed by a second surgery at four months. Although no significant differences in buccal bone defects or implant stability were observed between the groups, the SLA/plasma group showed significant increases in marginal bone changes on the mesial and distal sides, as assessed using periapical radiographs. This study underscores the potential of pre-implantation plasma treatment to enhance bone regeneration around implants. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) is a member of the CC chemokine family, and the MCP-1 2518 A/G gene polymorphism is reported to be correlated with chronic inflammatory diseases, including insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. However, few studies have investigated the association between MCP-1 gene polymorphisms and obesity in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). We conducted a retrospective case-control study and evaluated the association between the MCP-1 2518 A/G polymorphism and obesity in Korean patients with T2DM. Patients and Methods: This single-center, retrospective, case-control study enrolled 526 Korean patients with T2DM. Obesity was defined using the body mass index (BMI) with a cutoff level of 25 kg/m2. Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism was used to analyze MCP-1 2518 A/G polymorphism; the genotypes was presented as GG, AG, or AA. We compared the MCP-1 2518 A/G polymorphism with the prevalence of diabetic complications, as well as clinical and biochemical characteristics. Results: The obese group had a higher number of females and higher C-peptide, insulin, triglycerides, aspartate transaminase (AST), and alanine transaminase (ALT) levels. The obese group also had a higher prevalence of cardiovascular disease than the non-obese group. The obese group had a higher frequency of the MCP-1 2518 AA genotype and the A allele than the non-obese group. The results of multiple logistic regression analysis showed that the non-G allele of MCP-1 was significantly associated with obesity (odds ratio (OR), 1.888; P=0.016). Conclusion: This study demonstrates that the MCP-1 2518 A/G polymorphism is associated with obesity in Korean patients with T2DM. Previous studies have highlighted the need for post-treatment of implants due to surface aging. This study investigated the effect of vacuum plasma (VP) treatment on the osseointegration of sandblasted, large grit, acid-etched (SLA) implant surfaces. The hypothesis was that VP might enhance implant stability, measured by implant stability quotient (ISQ) and histological osseointegration through bone-to-implant contact (BIC) and bone area ratio (BA) in rabbit models. Eighteen implants were either untreated or treated with VP and installed into the femurs of six rabbits, which were sacrificed after four weeks. Histological analyses of BIC and BA, along with micro-CT analysis of bone volume and ISQ, were performed. The VP-treated group showed higher levels of BA, bone volume, and ISQ, but no statistically significant differences were observed between the control and experimental groups. Despite limitations, both groups achieved better osseointegration and regeneration, warranting further studies on plasma treatment effects over varying implantation periods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
