The volume of sediment accumulations in the upstream reach of the dam and the selection of an efficient flushing measurse are determined by the accurate hydrological regime assessment that is made when designing run-of-river structures. In the Tartar River's water intake head sedimentation regime was investigated, the potential accumulation volumes on the dam's upper side were calculated, and a functional design for the deposited sediment flushing unit’s operation scheme was developed. Due to the lack of necessary data, the flow rate in the Tartar River water receiving head was measured using three parallel methods that were discovered through research on local watercourses. A comparative analysis of three sediment flow values was done and its calculated value is defined, on the basis of which the annual volume of sediment subject to accumulation in front of the dam of the head and the possible infilling size of the sediment in the upstream reach was determined. The rational placement of the outlets for flushing deposited sediment is shown while taking into account the volume of deposits, the geometric properties of the head, and its upstream reach.

The purpose of the study is to offer for consideration the stoic concepts of the ancient philosophical school of the stoics in the modern aspect of applying its foundations and ideals in the process of forming the value-semantic orientations of cadets of educational organizations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. The article deals with the creation of pedagogical conditions for the formation of a value-semantic orientation in the training of cadets of the educational organization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in conjunction with the heritage of ancient philosophical thought, a brief history of stoicism as a direction of philosophical thought of antiquity, the basic principles of stoic ethics, their relevance at the present time and their possible application in the formation of the value-semantic sphere in the training of future law enforcement officers, attention is focused on the loss of value orientations in the post-Soviet era, on the need to develop pedagogical conditions that contribute to the formation of a morally mature personality. Scientific novelty lies in the study of the issue of introducing the heritage of the philosophical thought of the Hellenistic period of antiquity into the modern educational and educational process in order to form spiritual and moral values among students. As a result, interrelated elements have been identified that actualize the application of the philosophical tradition of antiquity in the modern aspect of the formation of a morally stable personality, through the development of moral guidelines, a necessary element of which is the creation of pedagogical conditions that contribute to the formation of value-semantic orientations when teaching cadets of an educational organization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

To evaluate impact of a quality improvement (QI) outreach education on incidence of acute brain injury in transported premature neonates.Neonates born atlt;33 weeks gestation outside the tertiary center were included. The QI intervention was a combination of neuroprotection care bundle, in-person visits, and communication system improvement. Descriptive and regression (adjusting for Gestational Age, Birth Weight, Gender, and antenatal steroids, Mode of delivery, Apgars at 5 minutes, Prophylactic indomethacin, PDA, and Inotropes use) analyses were performed. The primary outcome was a composite of death and/or severe brain injury on cranial ultrasound using a validated classification.181 neonates studied (93 before and 88 after). The rate and adjusted odds of death and/or severe brain injury reduced significantly post intervention (30% vs 15%) and (AOR 0.36, 95%CI, 0.15-0.85, P = 0.02) respectively.Implementation of outreach education targeting neuroprotection can reduce acute brain injury in transported premature neonates.

The paper is devoted to the Regulation on Additional Professional Training in Expert Specialties developed by the National Bureau of Expertises of the Republic of Armenia and realized in practice. It’s noted that the unified approaches, set forth in the Regulation, to the retraining of forensic experts ofdifferent specializations within the framework of individual short- and medium-term courses make it possible to provide the required level of professional training with the subsequent certification of the applicant for the right to independently perform a forensic examination. The peculiarities of the current model of additional professional education are described, including testing the basic knowledge of the applicant at the first stage, and in case ofsatisfactory evaluation, after an oral interview, training on the developed individual program consisting of theoretical and practical parts. Upon completion of the training program, the accompanying materials on the applicant’s candidature are submitted to the meeting of the Qualification Commission established by the National Bureau of Expertises, which gives the right to the applicant to carry out independent forensic examination in one or another expert specialty (since 2005 in this manner more than 300 applicants it’s prepared). The paper also emphasizes that the programs of additional professional training are periodically revised, supplemented with introducing new relevant training modules into the programs. In particular, the paper contains links to the introduction of modules such as time management and stress management into the educational process. The paper also highlights the accumulated experience allowing to provide a qualitative level ofexperts continuous training of the National Bureau of Expertises, particularly, on definition of the criteria necessaryfor granting independence to the expert, terms and duration of the probation period of his activity, criteria for evaluating this activity.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) subtypes A and B are present either simultaneously or alternate during yearly epidemics. It is still not clear whether clinical severity of acute bronchiolitis differs between the two subtypes.Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction was used to subtype RSV in previously healthy infants hospitalized with RSV bronchiolitis during a winter epidemic. A severity index based on heart rate, respiratory rate, wheezing, difficulty in feeding and oxygen saturation was calculated upon admission.Infants infected with RSV subtype-A were found to have a significantly higher (more severe) clinical score than those infected with RSV-B. There was no statistically significant difference in duration of hospitalization or need of intensive care. Boys and infants younger than 3 months of age were also more severely affected than girls or older infants, respectively.These results support the notion that RSV-A-induced bronchiolitis is more severe than RSV-B-induced one, in agreement with the majority of previously published studies.

Effectiveness of discovery of strategy knowledge is studied for problems where the space of hypothesis of solutions is specified by game trees and target solutions are discovered by methods capable of systematic acquisition of expert knowledge about them. A version of Botvinnik's Intermediate Goals At First algorithm is developed for strategy formation based on common knowledge planning and dynamic testing of the plans in the corresponding game tree. Applied to the intrusion protection problem the algorithm for a range of types of knowledge in form of goals and rules demonstrates strong tendency to increasing the efficiency of strategy formation with an increase in the amount of knowledge available to the system.

Recent studies suggest that rhinoviruses are present in the adenoids at higher titers than in other specific sites, after inoculation of nasal mucosa or conjunctiva in volunteers. Therefore, it is possible that they might be responsible for specific local changes, while such changes may be influenced by atopy. This review focuses on the interactions between rhinoviral infection, the host’s immune status and adenoidal disease.

We demonstrate here complete, durable surface breakdown suppression through simple deposition of a massive chalcogenide glass layer on the mesa surface by means of a negative charge formed at the interface.
