Dear Editor, A 62-year-old woman, with no medical co-morbidities, presented with a midline neck swelling that had evolved over eight years. She denied neck irradiation in childhood and had neither associated hypo- nor hyperthyroidism nor any pressure symptoms. Examination revealed a 4×3×2 cm non tender, firm, globular mass with a smooth surface and regular margins. It moved up on deglutition and tongue protrusion. There was no cervical lymphadenopathy or thyroid nodules [Table/Fig-1].

A 24-year-old girl presented to the Outpatient Department with multiple painless, insidious-onset swellings on the pubic area. Initially, they started as pin-head nodules when she was just eight years old and gradually increased in number and size. Apart from occasional itching in the area, she never experienced any noticeable symptoms over the years. However, as she grew older, concerns about cosmetic issues at marriage age compelled her to seek medical advice. Her past and family histories were not contributory. She had no addictions, medical co-morbidities, or local trauma.

Dear Editor, The 20-year-old female, a farmer with no medical history or current medications, presented with a large discoid soft-tissue mass arising from the left antecubital fossa since childhood. It started as a pea-nut-sized verrucous swelling and slowly enlarged over the last one-and-a-half decades. She experienced occasional local itching but never had pain. There were no ulcerations, discharge, or similar lesions elsewhere. Her past and family histories were non contributory, and she could not recall any local trauma in the past. Primarily, inadequate elbow flexion and cosmetic disfigurement compelled her to seek medical consultation.

Introduction: In the era of changing medical education system, our teaching methods are not able to cope up with ongoing evolution of medical education. There is a definite need of introducing newer techniques of teaching-learning methods to improve the learning process to higher levels of Bloom’s taxonomy. Aim: To explore the perceptions and attitudes of final year undergraduate medical students and teachers in paediatrics towards Flipped Classroom (FCR) model. Materials and Methods: The present prospective observational study was conducted at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences Sevagram, a rural tertiary care institute of central Maharashtra, India from December 2020 to November 2021. The full class strength of 100 undergraduate final year medical students and all eight faculty members participated to conduct FCR sessions on Paediatric infectious diseases. Prereading study material in the form of videos and reading materials was provided for asynchronous learning, while classroom time was spent on solving problem-based questions based on “think-pair-share” with the faculty as facilitators. Student and faculty feedback was recorded via a five-point Likert’s scale. Consequently, small-group discussions were carried out to know the students’ reflections. The data was analysed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21.0 software. Results: The students showed overall encouraging response to the flipped classroom method with active participation. Eighty two students (82%) were happy about the content of the reading material and time spent on preclass activity. More than 75% of students agreed it to be more interactive with peers and teachers and that it enhanced active learning with development of interest in the given subjects. Seventy-five students (75%) gave positive responses towards the utility of flipped model for future classes as it helped in self directed learning. The faculty members also enjoyed this activity, though they found it time-consuming. Conclusion: FCR is an effective way to motivate and enhance active and self-directed learning. Unlike didactic lectures, it helps the students in conceptual understanding of the subject and makes the teaching-learning experience enjoyable.

We show that time-varying risk aversion serves as a significant predictor of stock market momentum in the U.S. and globally. Risk aversion is found to be a robust predictor of momentum returns even after controlling for various well established stock market predictors and absorbs the predictive power of market volatility. The findings imply that momentum strategies can be enhanced by conditioning trades on the degree of risk aversion in the marketplace.

Utilizing a sample of 1258 reverse stock splits from 1988 to 2019, we contrast earnings management by firms that initiate reverse splits for diverse reasons. Literature suggests that the incentives for reverse splits vary based on firms' stock price ranges. As such, we use the pre‐split and target‐price ranges to separate the sample into three groups. We find a stark difference in discretionary accruals across these groups. While previous studies have treated earnings management and reverse splits as substitutes, we hypothesize that firms at risk of delisting may employ these two mechanisms as complements. Consistent with the hypothesis, we document a strong positive association between reverse splits and post‐split discretionary accruals for firms with pre‐split prices below $1. This relationship, however, is non‐existent among the remaining two groups. Our findings have two important implications for investors: (i) firms with different motives behind reverse splits exhibit different earnings management behavior and (ii) firms that are likely facing exchange delisting use discretionary accruals in complement with reverse stock splits. Abstract Introduction Laryngotracheal stenosis is a difficult problem with varied etiology and various treatment options. The holmium laser represents another tool for the treatment of benign tracheal stenosis. Objectives To determine the utility of holmium laser treatment for benign tracheal stenosis with regards to safety and efficacy. Methods This was a retrospective case study examining patients with benign tracheal stenosis from 1998–2016 who underwent holmium laser treatment. Determining the safety of this procedure was the primary goal, and complications were monitored as a surrogate of safety. Results A total of 123 patients who underwent holmium laser treatment for benign tracheal stenosis were identified. In total, 123 patients underwent 476 procedures, with follow-up ranging from 1 month to 14 years. No intraoperative or post-operative complications were identified as a direct result of the use of this particular laser. Conclusions The holmium laser is an effective and safe laser to use for tracheal stenosis treatment. It is a contact laser with a short acting distance, which reduces the risk of injury to distal airway structures. Given the favorable experience reported here, the holmium laser should be considered when tracheal surgery is attempted.
