Abstract

The most crucial aim of the research was to shed light on the factors affecting the selection of axes for expansion in cities. And evaluation of expansion options for the town of Kut as a model for the Iraqi city. In light of this, the research discussed the definition of basic design, urban expansion, the most critical problems and positives of urban expansion, the factors affecting the expansion of cities, and identifying the stages of expansion of the study area and the master plan for the town of Kut, and assessing the stages of expansion. An analysis of the motives that led to the selection of the current expansion axes of the city of Kut since the preparation of its first basic plans research results in several conclusions and recommendations. 2. Effect of substrate temperature on the optical and structural properties of CaZnO3 perovskite thin films.

Abstract

In this study, thin films of CaZnO3 perovskite were prepared using the spray pyrolysis deposition method (SPD) for different substrate temperatures (200, 250, 300, and 350 °C). In this study, we investigated the effect of the variation in substrate temperature on the crystal structure and optical properties of CaZnO3 thin films using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), an X-ray spectrum, and a UV spectrum. The absorbance and transmittance of the prepared films with wave length show a clear variation with substrate temperature. The band gap varied from 2.65 eV to 2.8 eV. The SEM images show that the grain size increases with substrate temperature, and this agrees with the grain size calculated from the X-ray spectrum. The grain size was within the range of 16.39-184.34 nm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Background: management and prevention of acute respiratory infections (ARI) is a worldwide problem especially in developing countries. Mothers are the caregivers of their children and thus their knowledge could be used as preventive measure for the disease. Objectives: assessing the knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of Saudi mothers toward ARI in children less than five years old in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Methods: the study included 733 mothers admitted to a random sample of PHC from different districts of KSA. The mothers were interviewed and asked to fill up a predesigned questionnaire during the period from February 2017 to June 2017. The questionnaire comprised of 4 parts including the mothers’ demographics and KAP. Results: the mean age of mothers was 41.3 years old and the duration of marriage was from 10-20 years in most of mothers (41.9%). The majority of participants had college degree (53.9%) and 44% of subjects were working mothers. Most of subjects had good knowledge about that ARI is a disease of both upper and lower respiratory infection, pneumonia as a complication of ARI, the overuse of antibiotic and bacterial resistance and cough being the most common symptom of ARI. Poor knowledge was related to the use of antibiotics and consulting a physician if children had ARI. The knowledge score of mothers was good in 46% of subjects and 54% have insufficient knowledge. The attitude and practice of mothers was poor among more than half of the participants.Conclusion: most of Saudi mothers had inadequate, knowledge, attitude and practice toward ARI. The better understanding and sufficient knowledge was significantly correlated with young ages, short duration of marriage and higher education.

Abstract

Ni50Al50 alloy sample prepared by compacting the powdered alloys at 8 Ton Pressure and Sintered at 750°c for 45 Minutes. The magnetics structural properties and Phase analysis were investigated. Xray diffraction(XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Elements dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and Vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM) for change in magnetic properties were determined as methods for characterization of produced samples. The results of this alloy show that cubic fcc structure from reflections of (111), (200) and (220). The magnetic results showed that the Saturation Magnetizations (Ms) of the composite alloy substantially decrease. Abstract

The numerical simulation of wave attack on a sea dike with an asphalt concrete revetment during a severe storm is carried out using the dynamic Finite Element Method. When wave loads attack the revetment during such a storm, both the revetment and the underlying soil may be damaged. The two-phase flow equations are considered, to study the dynamic generation and dissipation of excess pore pressures in the saturated soil underneath the revetment caused by the cyclic wave attack. Moreover, a sensitivity study for the revetment is presented to indicate the importance of the stiffness of the concrete.

21. Paradoxical Psoriasis and Worsening Spondylitis Due to Secukinumab in a Patient With Ankylosing Spondylitis: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Abstract

Axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) is an autoimmune disease primarily affecting the axial skeleton, with associated extra-musculoskeletal manifestations. Treatment strategies targeting cytokines tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin 17 (IL-17) have proven effective. However, paradoxical reactions, including paradoxical psoriasis and arthritis, have been reported in axSpA patients receiving TNF-α inhibitors. IL-17 inhibitors have been used as an alternative treatment option, but paradoxical reactions have also been rarely observed. This case report presents a 45-year-old man with axSpA who responded to infliximab for six years before discontinuing it due to secondary failure. After the washout period of infliximab, he was started on secukinumab but developed paradoxical psoriasis and worsening of inflammatory back pain after receiving the second loading dose which necessitated replacing it with upadacitinib. Complete resolution of paradoxical psoriasis and significant improvement in his back pain after three months ensued. Abstract

Systemic sclerosis is an autoimmune condition characterized by a wide range of clinical presentations. Registries may serve to expand understanding about systemic sclerosis and aid in patient care and follow-up. The objective of this study was to analyze the prevalence of systemic sclerosis in a large cohort from the United Arab Emirates Systemic Sclerosis Registry and find the significant similarities and differences between the different subsets. All scleroderma patients in the United Arab Emirates were included in this multicenter national retrospective analysis. Data on demographics, comorbidities, serological characteristics, clinical aspects, and treatment were collected and analyzed, highlighting the most common traits identified. A total of 167 systemic scleroderma patients from diverse ethnic backgrounds were enrolled. Overall, 54.5% (91/167) of the patients were diagnosed with diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis, and 45.5% (76/167) with limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis. The prevalence of systemic sclerosis was 1.66 per 100,000 for the total registry and 7.78 per 100,000 for United Arab Emirates patients. Almost all patients in the diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis and limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis groups tested positive for the immunofluorescence antinuclear antibody. Antibodies against Scl-70 were significantly more associated with diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis, whereas anticentromere antibodies were significantly more associated with the limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis group ( p  < 0.001). Sclerodactyly, shortness of breath, and digital ulcers were more common in diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis patients compared with the limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis subtype in terms of clinical symptoms and organ involvement. Telangiectasia was much more common in the limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis group. Furthermore, diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis patients had more lung fibrosis (interstitial lung disease) than limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis patients (70.5% vs 45.7%), and pulmonary arterial hypertension was twice as common in limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis patients as it was in diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis patients. Local registries are paramount to understanding the clinical/serological characteristics of scleroderma. 23. Risk Factors Associated With Hip Fractures among Adult People in Babylon City, Iraq.

Abstract

Background: The fractures of hip joint considered as a serious problem in public health in the medical and socioeconomic issues, the incidence of the fracture neck femur is significantly increased with the increment of general population life span., Aim: The goal of this study is to highlight and focus on the most important risk factor for the hip fractures in our Babylon society, and to improve our understanding of the medical and social aspects of these predisposing factors., Patients and Methods: A case-control study of older adults (above 60 years old). The study was done on tow samples. First, one consisting of 75 cases those having fracture neck femur considered as cases, and second sample as a control group, consisting of 150 people as a healthy control group having no fracture. A pre-tested questionnaire was prepared to collect data from both samples; the questionnaire included demographic data and information about potential risk factors of hip fracture., Results: Most of the people in the study samples in both groups were, married women, housekeepers, illiterate and from urban dwellers. There was highly significant association between case-control groups regarding, Continuous using of medication such as cortisone which was found to be a potential risk factor of hip fracture (Unadjusted OR = 3.636), low income was positively associated risk factor of hip fracture in this study (OR = 2.377), low milk intake, low sun exposure, tobacco smoking were positively associated with this health problem (OR = 1.794), while physical exercise was protective factor (OR = 0.489)., Conclusion: The highest risk factors associated with increased occurrence of hip fracture were using cortisone, Osteoporosis, tobacco smoking, consuming soft drinks, and less exposure to sunlight., (Copyright: © 2019 Alaa A. Abstract

A case study of a patient presenting with acute pulmonary oedema, dynamic ECG changes and a rise in cardiac biomarkers with no evidence of myocardial infarction. The clinical course followed a dynamic and inflammatory disease process with evidence of sarcoidosis on tissue histology. The patient had an excellent clinical response to corticosteroid therapy with minimal evidence of hyperenhancement (focal fibrosis) on cardiac MRI at 6 months. The case highlights the challenges in making a new diagnosis of sarcoidosis where involvement appears limited to the heart and lymphatic system.
