Objectives 1. identification of the core of the title process and its comparison with known types of patterns of improving management, 2. elaboration on the proposals and topics that enrich knowledge about the processes of HRM improvement, including the problem of institutional isomorphism. Material and methods Literature studies allowed us to identify patterns of organizational improvement change. The subject of empirical research was the content of Polish-language offers posted on websites for consulting companies improving Human Resources Management. The analysis was conducted based on content analysis guidelines. The obtained analysis results were compared with theoretical patterns of changes. In this way, the features of the examined core were identified. Results The identified core of dissemination consists of four phases and three processes with different logic. The interaction of processes can create inconsistency in the entire solution. The dominance of behaviors securing and facilitating HRM operations over other types of managerial behaviors was found. There are no methods of dealing with this asymmetry in the offers. Conclusions The inconsistencies between the core processes of pattern dissemination should encourage practitioners to determine their level of acceptance of the heterogeneity of patterns. For this, it is necessary to develop practical competencies in managing contradictions. Future research should provide a more complete understanding of the specificity of different sources of patterns, the nature of operations performed on patterns, and the identification of inconsistencies in the processes of pattern dissemination. It is also valuable to draw attention to the specific forces of institutional isomorphism that shape the similarity of patterns and ways of disseminating them

Decision-makers in cities have difficulties in implementing an effective climate policy for their own building resources due to the heterogeneous and dispersed distribution of buildings with low energy classes and different management specifics. Special zones include old towns, pre-war buildings (before 1945), and those built by the end of the 20th century. There is a noticeable shortage of methods for the comprehensive assessment of the emissions of urban complexes, taking into account social, economic, and environmental aspects. Exemplary individual examples of good thermal modernization practices towards low-emission and zero-energy solutions do not solve the problem of the poor-quality urban environment. This article proposes a simple integrated assessment of CO2 emissions of separate urban zones using the example of a medium-sized city in Poland. The adopted ASEET assessment methodology takes into account socio-economic criteria, but above all, the technical and energy criteria of urban development. Sensitive information was collected from users and owners of buildings and gathered in a data matrix. From the inventory data on energy consumption and technical conditions related to socio-economic status, environmental indicators were introduced, which were called critical for their improvement. By analyzing local efficiency indicators Wei of individual development zones, we can influence TWCi, the total indicators for the city. In the case of the studied city of Gubin, the total final energy consumption indicator EKC is 252.68 kWh/m2/year and is 58% lower than the most energy-intensive zone I, for which EKI = 399.6 kWh/m2/year, similar to emission indicators EEj between zones. Therefore, energy efficiency or emission indicators as resultant characteristics of urbanized areas can be treated as sensitive parameters in administrative activities, for example when planning thermal modernization or health risk assessment. The recommended solutions for continuous monitoring of ecological identifiers of urban zones, especially those with the lowest technical status, are to facilitate the creation of own environmental urban policies in the future and directly affect the city’s climate in local and global terms. The environmental data obtained using the ASEET method can be digitized using various IT techniques and then the results can be visualized on a city map in the form of environmental urban mapping with an indication of the GIS system. As a result, simple methodological tools for city managers were indicated. In the authors’ opinion, the ASEET method can serve urban policy, especially energy and climate policy, because the instrument for calculation is a database of indicators from subsequent periods of monitoring one’s own urban development.

Abstract Most of studied social interactions arise from dyadic relations. An exception is Heider Balance Theory that postulates the existence of triad dynamics, which however has been elusive to observe. Here, we discover a sufficient condition for the Heider dynamics observability: assigning the edge signs according to multiple opinions of connected agents. Using longitudinal records of university student mutual contacts and opinions, we create a coevolving network on which we introduce models of student interactions. These models account for: multiple topics of individual student opinions, influence of such opinions on dyadic relations, and influence of triadic relations on opinions. We show that the triadic influence is empirically measurable for static and dynamic observables when signs of edges are defined by multidimensional differences between opinions on all topics. Yet, when these signs are defined by a difference between opinions on each topic separately, the triadic interactions’ influence is indistinguishable from noise.

Introduction There are nearly 240 million children living with disabilities worldwide – 1 in 10 of all children. The Polish disability certification system is characterized by a significant level of complexity. At the same time the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), Agricultural Social Insurance Fund (KRUS) and poviat/city disability adjudication teams, voivodeship disability adjudication teams/councils, the Ministry of Family and Social Policy supervising poviat and voivodeship teams/councils issue different certificates. The system is complemented by the appeals to the court which resolve complaints against the decisions of voivodship teams. Children are considered individuals under 16 years of age. They can get a disability certificate if necessary. The aim of the study was to investigate the characteristics of children obtaining a disability certificate due to diseases of the locomotor system in Lublin within the last 16 years. Material and methods The authors asked the Municipal Disability Adjudication Council in Lublin to provide data on the number of disability certificates issued for children up to 16 years of age in the years 2006–2021.The data used for the analysis come from the electronic system that collects and processes them according to the assumed patterns. Results In the years 2006–2021 the Municipal Disability Adjudication Council in Lublin issued 9,929 disability certificates for children up to 16 years of age. The total number of certificates issued because of musculoskeletal disorders was 1,085 (mean 68/year). Majority of the recipients were 8–16 years old. There were 524 girls (mean 32.75/year) and 561 boys (mean 35.06/year). Conclusions In children musculoskeletal problems are in the third position after diseases of the respiratory tract and developmental disorders as the reason for obtaining a disability certificate in Lublin. Comparing this data with others, it can be concluded that the situation is similar to data from developed countries.

Uznanie dwuwartościowej logiki za wzór poprawnego rozumowania przyczyniło się do upowszechnienia binarnego modelu w porządkowaniu i analizie danych w różnych dziedzinach nauki. W naukach społecznych utrwalił tę tendencję zwłaszcza Claude Lévi-Strauss. Ujmowanie w schemacie binarnym objęło także tożsamość, analogicznie do jej definicji stosowanej w dwuwartościowej logice, prowadząc do konstatacji, że tożsamość opiera się na różnicy, czyli opozycji. Analiza wielu danych wskazuje na zawodność takiego podejścia. Tożsamość kształtuje się i jest konstruowana nie w binarnym przeciwstawieniu, lecz w czerpaniu z szerokiego spektrum możliwości i wariantów. Znacznie użyteczniejszy i trafniejszy w charakterystyce tożsamości, zarówno indywidualnej, jak i zbiorowej, jest więc jej spektralny model.

Current trends in wireless communications require a Base Transceiver Station (BTS) to support an ever-increasing number of antennas, wider bandwidths, multiple frequency bands, and many simultaneous beams. This is a tall order when considering all-electronic implementations, especially when operating at high carrier frequencies. We describe here Fourier-optics based opto-electronic architectures that include analog and fully connected transmit (TX) and receive (RX) implementations that support simultaneous multi-band, multi-beam phased arrays wherein optical up- and down-conversion are used, respectively, to generate IF/RF and RF/IF signals for simultaneous multi-user and multi-beam transmission and reception over a wide range of frequencies. The proposed lens-based architectures have the ability to transmit and receive multiple distinct beams simultaneously even when only analog beamforming is performed, thus greatly simplifying the tasks of cell search and initial access without having to resort to complex matrix-based beamforming networks. Additionally, lens-based TX and RX beamforming is performed in the analog optical domain with zero power consumption and negligible latency bounded only by the time the light takes to travel through the lens. Photonic signal processing also reduces the number of RF components required at the remote radio unit (RRU) and the number of costly and power-hungry high-performance analog-to-digital/digital-to-analog converters (ADCs/DACs) required. The optical subsystems are ultra-wideband and frequency agnostic as only the front-end components (antennas, amplifiers) are RF frequency/band specific. Therefore, a single photonic system design may be operated at any band and, furthermore, existing installations may be modified/upgraded to operate in different bands with minimal component replacements needed. Finally, the presented architectures provide near unlimited beam-bandwidth product (BBP) with minimal power requirements and no external cooling. Theoretical analysis and experimental confirmation of the proposed architecture will both be reported, including a receiver with a nominal BBP of 36 GHz in a prototype system that consumed less than 300 W, thus yielding a power efficiency of beam formation of 8 W/GHz, which is more than a $6\times $ improvement over the current state of the art.

Abstract Why is the Twitter, with its extremely length-limited messages so popular ? Our work shows that short messages focused on a single topic may have an inherent advantage in spreading through social networks, which may explain the popularity of a service featuring only short messages. We introduce a new explanatory model for information propagation through social networks that includes selectivity of message consumption depending on their content, competition for user’s attention between messages and message content adaptivity through user-introduced changes. Our agent-based simulations indicate that the model displays inherent power-law distribution of number of shares for different messages and that the popular messages are very short. The adaptivity of messages increases the popularity of already popular messages, provided the users are neither too selective nor too accommodating. The distribution of message variants popularity also follows a power-law found in real information cascades. The observed behavior is robust against model parameter changes and differences of network topology.

The work presents a new signature scheme, called the multi-threshold signature, which generalizes the concept of multisignature and threshold signature. This scheme protects the anonymity of signers in a way the group signature does – in exceptional circumstances the identities of signers may be revealed. Due to the new party – completer, in our scheme the threshold size may vary together with the message to be signed. The presented scheme is based on the RSA signature standard, however other signature standards might be applied to it as well.

Introduction: In recent years in many countries, including Poland, there has been recorded a strong increase in the number of cases of disorders, diagnosed as gender dysphoria, among adolescents and preadolescents. This is not only a serious medical and psychotherapeutic problem, but also a pedagogical challenge. Research Aim: Research aim is to recognize and analyse needs and challenges generated for educators and preceptors by gender dysphoria that occurs in their preadolescent and adolescent pupils. Evidence-based Facts: There are not many evidence-based facts about gender dysphoria in Poland, but there are some of them in other countries, particularly in the USA. Their results can be used to anticipate the challenges faced by Polish educators. Summary: This disorder is in many cases temporary and transient, but very dangerous, because suicides, self harms and other kinds of behavioral disturbance among children and young people with this syndrome are several times more frequent than in the entire population. A main pedagogical challenge is to help them get through this growth phase and avoid discrimination by their peers. However, neither preparation for the transition nor providing assistance in bringing about the transition are pedagogical tasks.

Abstract In recent years, research on methods for locating a source of spreading phenomena in complex networks has seen numerous advances. Such methods can be applied not only to searching for the “patient zero” in epidemics, but also finding the true sources of false or malicious messages circulating in the online social networks. Many methods for solving this problem have been established and tested in various circumstances. Yet, we still lack reviews that would include a direct comparison of efficiency of these methods. In this paper, we provide a thorough comparison of several observer-based methods for source localisation on complex networks. All methods use information about the exact time of spread arrival at a pre-selected group of vertices called observers. We investigate how the precision of the studied methods depends on the network topology, density of observers, infection rate, and observers’ placement strategy. The direct comparison between methods allows for an informed choice of the methods for applications or further research. We find that the Pearson correlation based method and the method based on the analysis of multiple paths are the most effective in networks with synthetic or real topologies. The former method dominates when the infection rate is low; otherwise, the latter method takes over.

Exod 19:3–8 and the description of Israel’s identity as a chosen nation bound by a covenant with YHWH (Exod 19:5–6: special possession, kingdom of priests, holy nation) have much in common both with statements known from deuteronomistic and priestly texts as well as from the so-called School of Holiness. This multiplicity of thematic, conceptual and linguistic connections makes the source classification and dating of this text quite difficult. The only consensus today is that it was written at the earliest just after the Babylonian exile. In this paper, the description of Israel’s identity in Exod 19:5–6 is linked to the priestly concept of the portable sanctuary, in which the specific location of the sanctuary (the sanctuary in the desert) is no longer important and not only the king or the priests are responsible for it, but the entire nation. This vocation is to be realized by the nation’s attitude of faithfulness to God (Exod 19:5a) in everyday life. In this way, sacred space in Israel goes beyond the walls of the temple and even Jerusalem (as according to Ezechiel), nor is it any longer limited to selected moments (visit to the sanctuary), but encompasses the entire life of the nation in all its aspects

Photo-thermo-catalytic or PTC purification of process gasses (i.e., air, flue gases, and others) from NOx is presented in this study. A discussion of temperature’s role in photocatalytic NOx removal and the progress of photo-thermo-catalytic reactors for the NOx removal process are presented. Lab- and pilot-scale reactors are described. The impact of temperature on the photocatalytic conversion of hydrocarbons is analyzed with regard to its relation to the photocatalytic selective reduction of NOx (photo-SCR). Another important issue is light transfer in pilot-scale reactors due to the sensitivity of light sources to temperature. Examples of light transfer solutions in photo-thermo-catalytic reactors are presented. Finally, the further development of photo-thermo-catalytic reactors is discussed, including pressurized systems.

RNA-Puzzles is a collective endeavor dedicated to the advancement and improvement of RNA three-dimensional structure prediction. With agreement from structural biologists, RNA structures are predicted by modeling groups before publication of the experimental structures. We report a large-scale set of predictions by 18 groups for 23 RNA-Puzzles: 4 RNA elements, 2 Aptamers, 4 Viral elements, 5 Ribozymes and 8 Riboswitches. We describe automatic assessment protocols for comparisons between prediction and experiment. Our analyses reveal some critical steps to be overcome to achieve good accuracy in modeling RNA structures: identification of helix-forming pairs and of non-Watson-Crick modules, correct coaxial stacking between helices and avoidance of entanglements. Three of the top four modeling groups in this round also ranked among the top four in the CASP15 contest.

A city in itself is a multicultural structure. This concerns specially cities founded or developed during intensive industrialization, connected to rapid growth of population. In spite of standardizing urbanization processes and the ideological doctrine imposed by the communist regime, the society of Nowa Huta has also been revealing attributes of multiculturality typical of urban immigration centers. However, it represents its specific variation resulting from the time and place where it was located and has been developing.

Wypowiedzi zawarte w tych wierszach najczęściej rozumiane są więc jako kara nałożona na węża (w. 14-15), kobietę (w. 16) i mężczyznę (ww. 17-19). W artykule podjęta jest jednak i analizowana sugestia, aby wypowiedzi te interpretować najpierw wyłącznie jako etiologię rzeczywistości społecznej aktualnej w czasach autor biblijnego, a potem także jako opis sytuacji dotyczący całej ludzkości (w obu wypadkach kobiet i mężczyzn), a nie samej kobiety (cierpienie z powodu licznych ciąż), czy samego tylko mężczyzny (ciężka praca na roli i śmierć).

Improvement of the energy efficiency of buildings contributes to energy savings. It is obvious that thermal modernization of a building reduces the demand for energy needed to heat it. The energy demand itself also depends significantly on the temperature maintained inside the building. The article proposes a methodology for determining the economic and ecological benefits of thermal insulation of a building and the optimal thickness of thermal insulation depending on the pre-set temperature. The analysis includes various types of heat sources and materials used for thermal insulation. A range of pre-set air temperature values in residential premises from 17 °C to 26 °C was analysed. Determining the optimal thickness of the external walls, in accordance with the preferences of building users, even at the level of designing the thermal insulation of the building, is of significant importance for economic and ecological benefits. The optimum thickness of thermal insulation in the case of the ecological assessment was much higher in each variant than in the case of the economic assessment.

The paper examines the beginnings of biblical monotheism. The author indicates the period of the Babylonian exile as the moment of the emergence of this idea in Israel. Psalm 82 is interpreted here as a testimony to the monotheistic transformation. The author advocates a literal understanding of the content of the psalm, as an image of the judgement over pagan gods, which ended in their condemnation to death. The reason for this dethronement of the entire pantheon is the permanent inability of the gods to ensure justice on earth. According to the psalmist, it is a feature of the only true God, which is the God of Israel, called upon to take power over the whole earth.

In engineering practice, investment activities related to the construction of a building are still limited to the idea of a linear cradle to grave (C2G) economy. The aim of the study is to determine the ecological and economic benefits inherent in the reuse of structural elements of a hall building using the idea of a Cradle to Cradle (C2C) looped circular economy and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). As a rule, a multiple circulation of materials from which model buildings are made was assumed through successive life cycles: creation, use, demolition and then further use of the elements. This approach is distinguished by minimizing negative impacts as a result of optimizing the mass of the structure—striving to relieve the environment, thus improving economic efficiency and leaving a positive ecological footprint. The assessment of cumulative ecological, economic and technical parameters (EET) methodology of generalized ecological indicator (WE) for quick and practical assessment of the ecological effect of multi-use steel halls, based on LCA, was proposed. The authors of the work attempted to assess the usefulness of such a structure with the example of four types of halls commonly used in the construction industry. The linear stream of C2G (cradle to grave) and then C2C (cradle to cradle) flows was calculated by introducing ecological parameters for comparative assessment. Finally, a methodology for calculating the ecological amortization of buildings (EAB) was proposed. The authors hope that the proposed integrated assessment of technical, economic and ecological parameters, which are components of the design process, will contribute to a new approach, the so-called fast-track pro-environmental project.

Due to the use of welded finned tubes in heat exchangers, gas blocks are characterized by very good electric energy production performance, and their reliability can reach 98%. Finned tubes used in heat exchangers are usually welded. Such tubes should be characterised by the following properties: high thermal performance, good resistance to high-temperature corrosion in a flue gas atmosphere, and appropriate joint strength and hardness. The most popular technology for welding finned tubes is MAG. MAG-welded joints are characterised by considerable spattering, weld discontinuities (up to 60%), and non-axial fin alignment. Such irregularities result in a considerably reduced heat flux due to the heat transfer resistance occurring in the welded joint. It has been shown that with weld discontinuities of 20%, the thermal performance of welded finned tubes reduces considerably. This paper proposes the possibility of welding finned tubes with a laser. The thermal properties of laser-welded finned tubes were compared with those of MAG-welded tubes. It was found that the thermal performance of welded finned tubes was three times higher than that of plain tubes. However, the thermal performance was not found to be affected by the welding technology. The correct heat flow at the level of 95% occurs in the tube/fin joint even with joint penetration of 0.01 mm, however, the absence of metallic continuity in a joint results in a drastically reduced thermal performance (by 50%) and the overheating of fins, which affects their durability.

Bainitic steel containing approx. 2.25% Cr and 0.6 Mo with micro-additions of V, Ti, and B, designated as 7CrMoVTiB10-10 (T/P24), is one of the new construction materials used in new supercritical power units. The weldability of 7CrMoVTiB10-10 is defined as the hot-cracking susceptibility, it should be stated that the hot cracking in the welded joints of 7CrMoVTi10-10 is determined by phenomena occurring in the high-temperature brittleness range (HTBR). In this work, the HTBR is established for both the base material and welding conditions, taking into account the critical temperature-strain intensity (CST) and the critical strain speed (CSS). The HTBR for 7CrMoVTi10-10 is 122 °C wide and covers temperatures from 1394 °C to 1516 °C. Under imposed deformation conditions (typical during welding), the HTBR extends to a width of 293 °C towards lower temperatures, i.e., from 1516 °C to 1223 °C. The CSS = 0.83 1/s, the CST = 0.003 1/°C, and the Rf index = 0.12, which can be adopted as the criteria for the susceptibility of 7CrMoVTiB 10-10 to hot cracking under imposed deformation conditions. The hot cracking in 7CrMoVTiB10-10 occurs as a result of the loss of cohesion by the thin liquid layer crystallising between the growing weld crystals. Such cracks appear when the CSS or the CST is exceeded within the HTBR.

Abstract BRM (BRAHMA) is a core, SWI2/SNF2-type ATPase subunit of SWI/SNF chromatin-remodelling complex (CRC) involved in various important regulatory processes including development. Mutations in SMARCA2, a BRM-encoding gene as well as overexpression or epigenetic silencing were found in various human diseases including cancer. Missense mutations in SMARCA2 gene were recently connected with occurrence of Nicolaides–Baraitser genetics syndrome. By contrast, SMARCA2 duplication rather than mutations is characteristic for Coffin–Siris syndrome. It is believed that BRM usually acts as a tumour suppressor or a tumour susceptibility gene. However, other studies provided evidence that BRM function may differ depending on the cancer type and the disease stage, where BRM may play a role in the disease progression. The existence of alternative splicing forms of SMARCA2 gene, leading to appearance of truncated functional, loss of function or gain-of-function forms of BRM protein suggest a far more complicated mode of BRM-containing SWI/SNF CRCs actions. Therefore, the summary of recent knowledge regarding BRM alteration in various types of cancer and highlighting of differences and commonalities between BRM and BRG1, another SWI2/SNF2 type ATPase, will lead to better understanding of SWI/SNF CRCs function in cancer development/progression. BRM has been recently proposed as an attractive target for various anticancer therapies including the use of small molecule inhibitors, synthetic lethality induction or proteolysis-targeting chimera (PROTAC). However, such attempts have some limitations and may lead to severe side effects given the homology of BRM ATPase domain to other ATPases, as well as due to the tissue-specific appearance of BRM- and BRG1-containing SWI/SNF CRC classes. Thus, a better insight into BRM-containing SWI/SNF CRCs function in human tissues and cancers is clearly required to provide a solid basis for establishment of new safe anticancer therapies.
