Full Mission Bridge simulating became a valuable tool to assess the conditions for safe navigation during seaport development. The article presents an overview of the works carried out at the Lithuanian Maritime Academy. The specialists of the Academy together with the pilots of Klaipeda State Seaport performed a number of trainings and tests using Full Mission Bridge simulator, related to navigational safety assessment. Overviewed works concern a wide range of directions: development of the harbour navigation channel, introduction of two-way traffic of ships, ships sailing with tugboats, coordination with vessel traffic service, emergency response of the LNG vessel in case of various scenarios, extremely big ships accessibility studies, the boundary weather conditions assessment and so on. Introduction: The 2018 published World Health Organisation (WHO) Europe physical activity factsheet reports, specify agreed targets for physical activity and articulate the need to improve the education of medical doctors and healthcare practitioners in order to increase physical activity and reduce sedentary time in people at risk and/or living with Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs). Given the dearth of relevant initiatives and the continuous need to increase physical activity participation towards better health management of NCDs, the aim of this study is to embed physical activity in the undergraduate curricula of future frontline healthcare professionals (medical doctors and allied health professions) in European countries., Methods: The V irtual A dvice, N urturing, G uidance on U niversal A ction, R esearch and D evelopment for physical activity and sport engagement (VANGUARD) project consists of a collaborative partnership Consortium between six European Universities, WHO Europe and Ministry representatives that has been developed to implement physical activity in the curricula of medical schools and healthcare professions. Ancient DNA research in the past decade has revealed that European population structure changed dramatically in the prehistoric period (14,000-3000 years before present, YBP), reflecting the widespread introduction of Neolithic farmer and Bronze Age Steppe ancestries. However, little is known about how population structure changed from the historical period onward (3000 YBP - present). To address this, we collected whole genomes from 204 individuals from Europe and the Mediterranean, many of which are the first historical period genomes from their region (e.g. Armenia and France). We found that most regions show remarkable inter-individual heterogeneity. At least 7% of historical individuals carry ancestry uncommon in the region where they were sampled, some indicating cross-Mediterranean contacts. Despite this high level of mobility, overall population structure across western Eurasia is relatively stable through the historical period up to the present, mirroring geography. We show that, under standard population genetics models with local panmixia, the observed level of dispersal would lead to a collapse of population structure. Persistent population structure thus suggests a lower effective migration rate than indicated by the observed dispersal. We hypothesize that this phenomenon can be explained by extensive transient dispersal arising from drastically improved transportation networks and the Roman Empire's mobilization of people for trade, labor, and military. In 2017, a series of human remains corresponding to the executed leaders of the "January Uprising" of 1863-1864 were uncovered at the Upper Castle of Vilnius (Lithuania). During the archeological excavations, 14 inhumation pits with the human remains of 21 individuals were found at the site. The subsequent identification process was carried out, including the analysis and cross-comparison of post-mortem data obtained in situ and in the lab with ante-mortem data obtained from historical archives. In parallel, three anthropologists with diverse backgrounds in craniofacial identification and two students without previous experience attempted to identify 11 of these 21 individuals using the craniofacial superimposition technique. To do this, the five participants had access to 18 3D scanned skulls and 14 photographs of 11 different candidates. The participants faced a cross-comparison problem involving 252 skull-face overlay scenarios. The methodology follows the main agreements of the European project MEPROCS and uses the software Skeleton-ID™. Based on MEPROCS standard, a final decision was provided within a scale, assigning a value in terms of strong, moderate, or limited support to the claim that the skull and the facial image belonged (or not) to the same person for each case. The problem of binary classification, positive/negative, with an identification rate for each participant was revealed. The results obtained in this study make the authors think that both the quality of the materials used and the previous experience of the analyst play a fundamental role when reaching conclusions using the CFS technique., (© 2022. In this study, we prepared a series of new N -(aminocycloalkylene)amino acid derivatives for use in chiral building blocks. The method was based on the conversion of enantiopure α-hydroxy acid esters into the corresponding chiral triflate esters, which were displaced by a nucleophilic substitution S N 2 reaction with aminopyrrolidine and aminopiperidine derivatives, and the inversion of the configuration to give methyl 2-[(Boc-amino)cycloamin-1-yl]alkanoates with good yield and high enantiomeric and diastereomeric purity. Synthesized 2-[(Boc-amino)piperidin-1-yl]propanoates combined with ethyl l-phenylalaninate gave new chiral N -Boc- and N -nosyl-dipeptides containing a piperidine moiety. Modern humans have populated Europe for more than 45,000 years 1,2 . Our knowledge of the genetic relatedness and structure of ancient hunter-gatherers is however limited, owing to the scarceness and poor molecular preservation of human remains from that period 3 . Here we analyse 356 ancient hunter-gatherer genomes, including new genomic data for 116 individuals from 14 countries in western and central Eurasia, spanning between 35,000 and 5,000 years ago. We identify a genetic ancestry profile in individuals associated with Upper Palaeolithic Gravettian assemblages from western Europe that is distinct from contemporaneous groups related to this archaeological culture in central and southern Europe 4 , but resembles that of preceding individuals associated with the Aurignacian culture. This ancestry profile survived during the Last Glacial Maximum (25,000 to 19,000 years ago) in human populations from southwestern Europe associated with the Solutrean culture, and with the following Magdalenian culture that re-expanded northeastward after the Last Glacial Maximum. Conversely, we reveal a genetic turnover in southern Europe suggesting a local replacement of human groups around the time of the Last Glacial Maximum, accompanied by a north-to-south dispersal of populations associated with the Epigravettian culture. From at least 14,000 years ago, an ancestry related to this culture spread from the south across the rest of Europe, largely replacing the Magdalenian-associated gene pool. After a period of limited admixture that spanned the beginning of the Mesolithic, we find genetic interactions between western and eastern European hunter-gatherers, who were also characterized by marked differences in phenotypically relevant variants., (© 2023.
