This paper explores the relationship between land tenure security and housing investment among households in Bangladeshi poor settlements. The level of housing investment is measured through the type of physical structure of the house, or more specifically, floor materials. Cluster-robust standard error logistic regression method is utilized to explore this relationship in order to fix the issue of households located in the same settlement being correlated with each other. The results show that houses with greater tenure security, whether owner-occupied or rented out, are more likely than houses with insecure tenure to have cement floors, which are more permanent and expensive than other types of floors like bamboo, wood, or dirt/mud. Importantly, renters are more likely than owner-occupants to have cement floors. In sum, although greater tenure security may positively impact housing investment, the market force in which housing is seen as a business opportunity may be an equally strong factor in encouraging investment even in poor communities.

Abstract Plaques identified by Coronary CT angiography (CCTA) are important in clinical diagnosis and primary prevention. High-risk plaque features by CCTA have been extensively validated using optical coherence tomography (OCT). However, since their general diagnostic performance and limitations have not been fully investigated, we sought to compare CCTA with OCT among consecutive vessel sections. We retrospectively compared 188 consecutive plaques and 84 normal sections in 41 vessels from 40 consecutive patients referred for chest pain evaluation who had both CCTA and OCT with a median time lapse of 1 day. The distance to reference points were used to co-register between the modalities and the diagnostic performance of CCTA was evaluated against OCT. Plaque categories evaluated by CT were calcified, non-calcified and mixed. The diagnostic performance of CCTA was excellent for detecting any plaque identified by OCT with the sensitivity, specificity, negative and positive predictive values and accuracy of 92%, 98%, 99%, 84% and 93%, respectively. The lower than expected negative predictive value was due to failure of detecting sub-millimeter calcified (≤ 0.25 mm2) (N = 12) and non-calcified plaques (N = 4). Misclassification of plaque type accounted for majority of false negative findings (25/41, 61%) which was most prevalent among the mixed plaque (19/41, 46%). There was calcification within mixed plaques (N = 5) seen by CCTA but missed by OCT. Our findings suggest that CCTA is excellent at identifying coronary plaques except those sub-millimeter in size which likely represent very early atherosclerosis, although the clinical implication of very mild atherosclerosis is yet to be determined.

Late detection and specialist referral result in poor oral cancer outcomes globally. High-risk LRMU populations usually do not have access to oral medicine specialists, a specialty of dentistry, whose expertise includes the identification, treatment, and management of oral cancers. To overcome this access barrier, there is an urgent need for novel, low-cost tele-health approaches to expand specialist access to low-resource, remote and underserved individuals. The goal of this study was to compare the diagnostic accuracy of remote versus in-person specialist visits using a novel, low-cost telehealth platform consisting of a smartphone-based, remote intraoral camera and custom software application. A total of 189 subjects with suspicious oral lesions requiring biopsy (per the standard of care) were recruited and consented. Each subject was examined, and risk factors were recorded twice: once by an on-site specialist, and again by an offsite specialist. A novel, low-cost, smartphone-based intraoral camera paired with a custom software application were utilized to perform synchronous remote video/still imaging and risk factor assessment by the off-site specialist. Biopsies were performed at a later date following specialist recommendations. The study’s results indicated that on-site specialist diagnosis showed high sensitivity (94%) and moderate specificity (72%) when compared to histological diagnosis, which did not significantly differ from the accuracy of remote specialist telediagnosis (sensitivity: 95%; specificity: 84%). These preliminary findings suggest that remote specialist visits utilizing a novel, low-cost, smartphone-based telehealth tool may improve specialist access for low-resource, remote and underserved individuals with suspicious oral lesions.

Abstract Left atrial (LA) features are altered when diastolic dysfunction (DD) is present. The relations of LA features to the DD severity and to adverse outcomes remain unclear using CMR images. We sought to compare LA features including volumes, emptying fraction, and strains as predictors of left ventricular (LV) DD and adverse outcomes. We compared four groups including normal controls (n = 32), grade I DD (n = 69), grade II DD (n = 42), and grade III DD (n = 21). DD was graded by echocardiography following the current ASE guidelines. Maximum LA volume (LAVmax), minimum LA volume (LAVmin), and LA emptying fraction (LAEF) were assessed using CMR cine images. Phasic LA strains including reservoir, conduit, and booster pump strain were assessed by feature tracking. The outcome was a composite of hospital admissions for heart failure and all-cause mortality analyzed using Cox proportional hazard models. Efforts are underway to improve the accuracy of non-specialist screening for oral cancer (OC) risk, yet better screening will only translate into improved outcomes if at-risk individuals comply with specialist referral. Most individuals from low-resource, minority, and underserved (LRMU) populations fail to complete a specialist referral for OC risk. The goal was to evaluate the impact of a novel approach on specialist referral compliance in individuals with a positive OC risk screening outcome. A total of 60 LRMU subjects who had screened positive for increased OC risk were recruited and given the choice of referral for an in-person (20 subjects) or a telehealth (40 subjects) specialist visit. Referral compliance was tracked weekly over 6 months. Compliance was 30% in the in-person group, and 83% in the telehealth group. Approximately 83–85% of subjects from both groups who had complied with the first specialist referral complied with a second follow-up in-person specialist visit. Overall, 72.5% of subjects who had chosen a remote first specialist visit had entered into the continuum of care by the study end, vs. 25% of individuals in the in-person specialist group. A two-step approach that uses telehealth to overcome barriers may improve specialist referral compliance in LRMU individuals with increased OC risk.

Endogenous human retroviruses (ERVs) are remnants of exogenous retroviruses that have integrated into the human genome. Using publicly available RNA-seq data from 63 cervical cancer patients, we investigated the expression of ERVs in cervical cancers. Four aspects of cervical cancer were investigated: patient ancestral background, tumor HPV type, tumor stage and patient survival. Between the racial subgroups, 74 ERVs were significantly differentially expressed, with Black Americans having 30 upregulated and 44 downregulated (including MER21C, HERV9-int, and HERVH-int) ERVs when compared to White Americans. We found that 3313 ERVs were differentially expressed between HPV subgroups, including MER41A, HERVH-int and HERVK9. There were 28 downregulated (including MLT1D and HERVH-int) and 61 upregulated (including MER41A) ERVs in locally advanced-stage compared to early-stage samples. Tissue microarrays of cervical cancer patients were used to investigate the protein expression of ERVs with protein coding potential (i.e., HERVK and ERV3). Significant differences in protein expression of ERV3 (p = 0.000905) were observed between early-stage and locally advanced-stage tumors. No significant differential expression at the protein level was found for HERVK7 (p = 0.243). We also investigated a prognostic model, supplementing a baseline prediction model using FIGO stage, age and HPV positivity with ERVs data. The expression levels of all ERVs in the HERVd were input into a Lasso-Cox proportional hazards model, developing a predictive 67-ERV panel. When ERVs expression levels were supplemented with the clinical data, a significant increase in prognostic power (p = 9.433 × 10−15) relative to that obtained with the clinical parameters alone (p = 0.06027) was observed. In summary, ERV RNA expression in cervical cancer tumors is significantly different among racial cohorts, HPV subgroups and disease stages. The combination of the expression of certain ERVs in cervical cancers with clinical factors significantly improved prognostication compared to clinical factors alone; therefore, ERVs may serve as future prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets. Novelty and Impact: When endogenous retroviral (ERV) expression signatures were combined with currently employed clinical prognosticators of relapse of cervical cancer, the combination outperformed prediction models based on clinical prognosticators alone. ERV expression signatures in tumor biopsies may therefore be useful to help identify patients at greater risk of recurrence. The novel ERV expression signatures or adjacent genes possibly impacted by ERV expression described here may also be targets for the development of future therapeutic interventions.

The tumor microenvironment plays a crucial role in both the development and progression of prostate cancer. Furthermore, identifying protein and gene expression differences between different regions is valuable for treatment development. We applied Digital Spatial Profiling multiplex analysis to formalin-fixed paraffin embedded prostatectomy tissue blocks to investigate protein and transcriptome differences between tumor, tumor-adjacent stroma (TAS), CD45+ tumor, and CD45+ TAS tissue. Differential expression of an immunology/oncology protein panel (n = 58) was measured. OX40L and CTLA4 were expressed at higher levels while 22 other proteins, including CD11c, were expressed at lower levels (FDR < 0.2 and p-value < 0.05) in TAS as compared to tumor epithelia. A tissue microarray analysis of 97 patients with 1547 cores found positive correlations between high expression of CD11c and increased time to recurrence in tumor and TAS, and inverse relationships for CTLA4 and OX40L, where higher expression in tumor correlated with lower time to recurrence, but higher time to recurrence in TAS. Spatial transcriptomic analysis using a Cancer Transcriptome Atlas panel (n = 1825 genes) identified 162 genes downregulated and 69 upregulated in TAS versus tumor, 26 downregulated and 6 upregulated in CD45+ TAS versus CD45+ tumor. We utilized CIBERSORTx to estimate the relative immune cell fractions using CD45+ gene expression and found higher average fractions for memory B, naïve B, and T cells in TAS. In summary, the combination of protein expression differences, immune cell fractions, and correlations of protein expression with time to recurrence suggest that closely examining the tumor microenvironment provides valuable data that can improve prognostication and treatment techniques.

Background: Prolonged QT intervals are reported in patients with COVID-19. Additionally, virus particles in heart tissue and abnormal troponin levels have been reported. Consequently, we hypothesize that cardiac electrophysiologic abnormalities may be associated with COVID-19. Methods: This is a retrospective study between March 15th, 2020 and May 30th, 2020 of 828 patients with COVID-19 and baseline ECG. Corrected QT (QTc) and QRS intervals were measured from ECGs performed prior to intervention or administration of QT prolonging drugs. QTc and QRS intervals were evaluated as a function of disease severity (patients admitted versus discharged; inpatients admitted to medical unit vs ICU) and cardiac involvement (troponin elevation >0.03 ng/ml, elevated B-natriuretic peptide (BNP) or NT pro-BNP >500 pg/ml). Multivariable analysis was used to test for significance. Odds ratios for predictors of disease severity and mortality were generated. Mixed-effects models were used to evaluate the global zoning concept using residue data from a comprehensive database of supervised field trials performed in various countries and regions on a variety of pesticide–crop combinations. No statistically significant systematic differences in pesticide residues were found between zones among the pesticide uses examined. In addition, we conducted a simulation to assess the impact of using regional versus global datasets for calculating maximum residue limits (MRLs). The conclusion of this assessment supports the concept of exchangeability of pesticide residue values across geographic regions and opens the possibility of improving harmonization of pesticide regulatory standards by establishing more globally aligned MRLs. Abstract Background The retinal microcirculation has been studied in various diseases including multiple sclerosis (MS). However, inter-eye correlations and potential differences of the retinal blood flow velocity (BFV) remain largely unstudied but may be important in guiding eye selection as well as the design and interpretation of studies assessing or utilizing retinal BFV. The primary aim of this study was to determine inter-eye correlations in BFVs in healthy controls (HCs). Since prior studies raise the possibility of reduced BFV in MS eyes, a secondary aim was to compare retinal BFVs between MS eyes, grouped based on optic neuritis (ON) history and HC eyes. Methods Macular arteriole and venule BFVs were determined using a retinal function imager (RFI) in both eyes of 20 HCs. One eye from a total of 38 MS patients comprising 13 eyes with ON (MSON) and 25 eyes without ON (MSNON) history were similarly imaged with RFI. Results OD (right) and OS (left) BFVs were not significantly different in arterioles (OD: 3.95 ± 0.59 mm/s; OS: 4.08 ± 0.60 mm/s, P = 0.10) or venules (OD: 3.11 ± 0.46 mm/s; OS: 3.23 ± 0.52 mm/s, P = 0.06) in HCs. Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a clinical diagnosis and is often a diagnosis of exclusion. However, despite the benign nature of this condition, it has been associated with underlying life-threatening medical conditions (e.g., myocardial infarction, dissecting aortic aneurysm, arrhythmias). Our case report highlights the importance of early recognition of those with cardiovascular risk factors who present with acute onset altered mental status to look for underlying medical comorbidities. In this paper, we introduce an Software Defined Networking (SDN)-based approach to support the network operations of heterogeneous hierarchical multi-domain Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs). Our approach offers several capabilities, including seamlessly interconnecting heterogeneous MANETs, reducing routing decision loads of gateway routers, and managing end-devices at the network edge from the Network Operation Center (NOC) with our SDN Proxy Protocol. To assess the feasibility of our proposed approach, we setup an emulation environment, and implement our designed system via the Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP), additionally integrating OLSRv2, OSPF-MDR, Babel, and others. Based on a set of designed test scenarios, we then carry out an extensive performance evaluation of our approach. Our experimental results show significant network performance improvements at the gateway routers. The SDN Proxy Protocol also outperforms the traditional CoAP-to-CoAP communication when network instability exists.

In Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks, centroid topology optimization (CTO)-based schemes have been widely used to construct network topologies such that overall network performance is improved. In this paper, we systematically analyze CTO-based schemes and develop new schemes to improve network performance by reconnecting disconnected devices. First, we conduct an investigation of CTO-based schemes to understand their limitations. Then, we propose two schemes, called the Power Control-based scheme and Femto Relaybased scheme, to overcome this limitation in LTE networks, in which CTO-based schemes are implemented. Via intensive performance evaluation using NS3, we validate the effectiveness of our proposed schemes towards addressing the limitations of CTO-based schemes. Our results demonstrate an improvement in LTEnetwork performance above both the unoptimized and CTO-based schemes with respect to throughput, delay, delay standard deviation (DSD), etc.

To prevent economic losses, maintain social order, and protect the well-being of the populace during public safety and crisis recovery scenarios, such as man-made and natural disasters, the efficient and effective delivery of time-critical information to first responders and victims plays a key role. Nonetheless, too often, the communication infrastructures that enable time-critical information delivery become dysfunctional, due to traffic overloads or physical damage. Thus, the user-side solution [e.g., device-to-device (D2D) communications] and the network-side solution [e.g., dynamic wireless networks (DWNs)] are essential communication techniques that can enhance or restore communication for responders and victims in the harsh environment associated with public safety scenes. While D2D has been widely studied and investigated in legacy/commercial communication networks, as well as DWN, little work has been done toward adapting D2D and DWN from a public safety perspective. In this survey, we first design a layered structure, consisting of the public safety service layer, time-critical information delivery layer, and physical object layer, from which to consider the public safety system and its key components. We then extensively review research efforts on both D2D and DWN as complimentary user-side and network-side communication techniques toward effective public safety communications. Particularly, we investigate the approaches and standardization progress of D2D and DWN for public safety communications. Finally, we provide insights into challenges and potential solutions regarding D2D, DWN, security and resilience, and performance evaluation of public safety communication, as well as the integration of state-of-the-art communication and computing technologies to further improve time-critical information delivery in various public safety scenarios.

Endogenous retroviruses (ERVs) are abundant, repetitive elements dispersed across the human genome and are implicated in various diseases. We investigated two potential roles for ERVs in prostate cancer (PCa). First, the PCa of Black Americans (BA) is diagnosed at an earlier median age and at a more advanced stage than the PCa of White Americans (WA). We used publicly available RNA-seq data from tumor-enriched samples of 27 BA and 65 WA PCa patients in order to identify 12 differentially expressed ERVs (padj < 0.1) and used a tissue microarray of the PCa cores from an independent set of BA and WA patients to validate the differential protein expression of one of these ERVs, ERV3-1 (p = 2.829 × 10−7). Second, we used 57 PCa tumors from patients of all ancestries from one hospital as a training set to identify the ERVs associated with time to biochemical relapse. A 29-ERV prognostic panel was then tested and validated on 35 separate PCa tumors from patients obtained in two different hospitals with a dramatic increase in prognostic power relative to clinical parameters alone (p = 7.4 × 10−11). In summary, ERV RNA expression differences in the prostate tumors of patients of different ancestries may be associated with dissimilarities in the mechanism of cancer progression. In addition, the correlation of expression of certain ERVs in prostate tumors with the risk of biochemical relapse indicates a possible role for ERV expression in cancer progression.

In this paper, we propose a cross-domain optimization (CDO) scheme, which optimizes the MANET topology and enables communication between multiple MANETs via LTE. Particularly, we first deploy a gateway to the center of gravity of all nodes in each MANET so that the network topology is optimized. Thus, the aggregation cost of intra-MANET traffic in the gateway is improved. Likewise, we then deploy an eNodeB in the center of gravity of all gateways to establish communication connections between multiple MANETs via LTE. Then, the aggregation cost of inter-MANET traffic at eNodeBs can be largely reduced because of the minimization of the distances between eNodeBs and gateways, along with a significant performance improvement of inter-MANET communications owing to the superiority of LTE. Vis extensive simulations, we validate the effectiveness of our proposed scheme. Our experimental results demonstrate that the CDO scheme can greatly improve network performance. Finally, we discuss some other issues.

The data presented in this article is related to the research article entitled “Longitudinal multiple sclerosis lesion segmentation: Resource and challenge” (Carass et al., 2017) [1]. In conjunction with the 2015 International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging, we organized a longitudinal multiple sclerosis (MS) lesion segmentation challenge providing training and test data to registered participants. The training data consists of five subjects with a mean of 4.4 (±0.55) time-points, and test data of fourteen subjects with a mean of 4.4 (±0.67) time-points. All 82 data sets had the white matter lesions associated with multiple sclerosis delineated by two human expert raters. The training data including multi-modal scans and manually delineated lesion masks is available for download. In addition, the testing data is also being made available in conjunction with a website for evaluating the automated analysis of the testing data.

Introduction: Troponins are known to be released in response to cardiac damage and therefore are the biomarkers of choice for the early diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), improving outcome in patients presenting with chest pain. However, false results can occur due to interference from other substances in the blood. Case: A 52-year-old male with a past medical history of alcohol abuse, hypertension, and coronary artery bypass graft at age 34 with normal stress test 2 years before presented to the emergency department (ED) complaining of 1 day of non-exertional chest pain with radiation to the neck and left arm. His troponin was elevated to 5 ng/mL in two samples drawn 12 h apart, with normal CK-MB. Renal function was normal. Electrocardiogram (ECG) showed normal sinus rhythm with no ST elevations or depressions. He underwent cardiac catheterization which showed no obstructive lesions. Five years later, he returned to the ED with abdominal pain and shortness of breath. Troponin was elevated and showed no signs of downtrend on repeat every 6 h. ECG was unchanged from 5 years before. He was discharged with a follow-up cardiac computed tomography (CT). Troponin was measured on the day of his scan and remained elevated; he was asymptomatic. Cardiac CT showed unremarkable coronaries and bypass grafts. Given persistently positive troponin in the setting of minimal to no symptoms, he was thought to have falsely elevated troponins. Centrifugation and 2:1 dilution of the sample resulted in the same general value, respectively. Rheumatoid factor and heterophile antibodies were negative. When his blood sample was sent to a different hospital utilizing a three-site immunoassay method, the value was found zero. Discussion: Cardiac troponins (cTn) are structural proteins unique to the heart, not expressed outside of cardiac tissue and have high sensitivity and specificity for myocardial damage. Therefore, it is the test of choice for the diagnosis of AMI. When an increased troponin value is encountered in the absence of myocardial infarction, other etiologies should be explored, including vasculitis, drug abuse, myocarditis, pulmonary embolism, sepsis, and renal failure. If the clinical picture is not consistent with the elevated lab value, it is necessary to think of other causes, including false-positive results. The prevalence of this type of interference is likely to worsen in the future because of the emergence of immunotherapy in the treatment of a wide range of conditions and the use of radiolabeled antibodies in diagnosis using immunoscintigraphic procedures. Therefore, it is important to consider this as part of the differential.

Introduction. In patients who have undergone resection for rectal cancer after neoadjuvant radiotherapy, loop ileostomy is commonly performed with few serious complications. In rare cases, if this irradiated small bowel is strictured, reversal of the affected ileostomy can have dire consequences. We present a case of a 62-year-old male with recurrent intestinal obstruction after closure of his loop ileostomy. Case Report. RC is a 62-year-old male who initially presented with rectal cancer and underwent neoadjuvant chemoradiation prior to a laparoscopic low anterior resection with diverting loop ileostomy. He underwent elective reversal of his ileostomy and developed persistent postoperative obstruction. He underwent resection of the prior reversal site with normal-appearing dilated proximal bowel loops and collapsed distal bowel loops. He again developed an obstructive picture and underwent resection of the prior anastomosis with creation of an ileocolic anastomosis, after which he recovered well postoperatively. Conclusion. In patients who receive radiation adjuvant therapy for colon cancer, radiation-induced stricture should be considered as a cause of small bowel obstruction postoperative. In the setting of a longstanding ileostomy, evaluation of a defunctionalized distal ileum may be necessary to evaluate potential obstruction from radiation changes.

Reminder cues can destabilize consolidated memories, rendering them modifiable before they return to a stable state through the process of reconsolidation. Older and stronger memories resist this process and require the presentation of reminders along with salient novel information in order to destabilize. Previously, we demonstrated in rats that novelty-induced object memory destabilization requires acetylcholine (ACh) activity at M1 muscarinic receptors. Other research predominantly has focused on glutamate, which modulates fear memory destabilization and reconsolidation through GluN2B- and GluN2A-containing NMDARs, respectively. In the current study, we demonstrate the same dissociable roles of GluN2B- and N2A-containing NMDARs in perirhinal cortex (PRh) for object memory destabilization and reconsolidation when boundary conditions are absent. However, neither GluN2 receptor subtype was required for novelty-induced destabilization of remote, resistant memories. Furthermore, GluN2B and GluN2A subunit proteins were upregulated selectively in PRh 24 h after learning, but returned to baseline by 48 h, suggesting that NMDARs, unlike muscarinic receptors, have only a temporary role in object memory destabilization. Indeed, activation of M1 receptors in PRh at the time of reactivation effectively destabilized remote memories despite inhibition of GluN2B-containing NMDARs. These findings suggest that cholinergic activity at M1 receptors overrides boundary conditions to destabilize resistant memories when other established mechanisms are insufficient.

Given that infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is the leading cause of death amongst individuals living with HIV, understanding the complex mechanisms by which Mtb exacerbates HIV infection may lead to improved treatment options or adjuvant therapies. While it is well-understood how HIV compromises the immune system and leaves the host vulnerable to opportunistic infections such as Mtb, less is known about the interplay of disease once active Mtb is established. This review explores how glutathione (GSH) depletion, T cell exhaustion, granuloma formation, and TNF-α upregulation, as a result of Mtb infection, leads to an increase in HIV disease severity. This review also examines the difficulties of treating coinfected patients and suggests further research on the clinical use of GSH supplementation.

Background: Echocardiography has been a popular modality used to aid in the diagnosis of infective endocarditis (IE) with the modified Duke criteria. We evaluated the necessity between the uses of either a transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) or transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) in patients with a body mass index (BMI) greater than or equal to 25 kg/m2 and less than 25 kg/m2. Methods: A single-centered, retrospective study of 198 patients between 2005 and 2012 diagnosed with IE based on modified Duke criteria. Patients, required to be above age 18, had undergone an echocardiogram study and had blood cultures to be included in the study. Results: Among 198 patients, two echocardiographic groups were evaluated as 158 patients obtained a TTE, 143 obtained a TEE, and 103 overlapped with TEE and TTE. Out of these patients, 167 patients were included in the study as 109 (65%) were discovered to have native valve vegetations on TEE and 58 (35%) with TTE. TTE findings were compared with TEE results for true negatives and positives to isolate valvular vegetations. Overall sensitivity of TTE was calculated to be 67% with a specificity of 93%. Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the rectum is a rare occurrence with an incidence rate of 0.1–0.25% per 1,000 cases. Herein, we report a case of a 52-year-old female who presented with a 2-month history of diffuse lower abdominal pain and hematochezia. Abdominal CT scan revealed a 7-cm irregular rectal mass, and the biopsy showed SCC.

Right heart failure (RHF) has been overlooked as left heart failure has predominated. One of the many causes of RHF is partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection (PAPVC), an extremely rare entity in nature. Physicians should consider the unusual causes of RHF after ruling out the common causes.

Introduction: Cardiac inflammatory myofibroblasts tumor is a rare tumor that can cause potentially fatal outcomes. Case Presentation: We describe a case where the tumor originated on the mitral valve and extended through the left ventricular outflow tract and aortic valve and into the left main artery obstructing it. Due to the hemodynamic instability of the patient, we proceeded for cardiac catheterization with the intention to aspirate the mass but were forced to do percutaneous intervention to stabilize the patient and bridge him to surgery. Conclusions: The patient underwent surgery several days later with complete resection of the tumor and coronary stent retrieval but his left ventricular ejection fraction remained poor after several months and he was referred for cardiac transplantation.
