Piping has been recognized as an important geomorphic, soil erosion and hydrologic process. It seems that it is far more widespread than it has often been supposed. However, our knowledge about piping dynamics and its quantification currently relies on a limited number of data for mainly loess-derived areas and marl badlands. Therefore, this research aimed to recognize piping dynamics in mid-altitude mountains under a temperate climate, where piping occurs in Cambisols, not previously considered as piping-prone soils. It has been expressed by the estimation of erosion rates due to piping and elongation of pipes in the Bereźnica Wyżna catchment in the Bieszczady Mountains, eastern Carpathians (305 ha, 188 collapsed pipes). The research was based on the monitoring of selected piping systems (1971-1974, 2013-2016). Changes in soil loss vary significantly between different years (up to 27.36 t ha^{-1} yr^{-1}), as well as between the mean short-term erosion rate (up to 13.10 t ha^{-1} yr^{-1}), and the long-term (45 years) mean of 1.34 t ha^{-1} yr^{-1}. The elongation of pipes also differs, from no changes to 36 m during one year. The mean total soil loss is 48.8 t ha^{-1} in plots, whereas in the whole studied catchment it is 2.0 t ha^{-1}. Hence, piping is both spatially and temporally dependent. The magnitude of piping in the study area is at least three orders of magnitude higher than surface erosion rates (i.e. sheet and rill erosion) under similar land use (grasslands), and it is comparable to the magnitude of surface soil erosion on arable lands. It means that piping constitutes a significant environmental problem and, wherever it occurs, it is an important, or even the main, sediment source.

The aim of this paper is to present the piping forms in the Bieszczady Mts., their morphology and morphometry. Piping as a mechanical removal of soil by subsurface concentrated water flow leads to the formation of underground channels (pipes). They become visible on the surface when a pipe roof collapses. Subsequently, surface piping forms are created. Sometimes a pipe inlet or a pipe outlet can be located. The piping forms and features are described and characterized - both erosional (sinkhole, closed depression, blind gully) and depositional (piping fan). Finally, the comparison of piping forms in different regions of the world is presented.

Praca przedstawia próbę oceny atrakcyjności wizualnej krajobrazu trzech wybranych dolin : Będkowskiej, Kobylańskiej i Kluczwody w Parku Krajobrazowym Dolinki Krakowskie w oparciu o metodę bonitacji punktowej. Metoda ta polegała na wyborze i analizie kryteriów wpływających na atrakcyjność wizualną krajobrazu. Wybrane kryteria posłużyły do przygotowania mapy wartości wizualno-estetycznej krajobrazu. Dzięki niej możliwe było wyznaczenie miejsc o największych walorach krajobrazowych. Dokonano także oceny możliwości zastosowania metody dla potrzeb planowania przestrzennego. The landscape is an important part of the quality of life for most people. Today, the changes are seen as a negative evolution because they cause a loss of landscape diversity, coherence and identity. Therefore, the landscape should be properly planned and protected (Antrop 2005). The paper concerns the evaluation of the visual attractiveness of the landscape of three study areas : Będkowska, Kobylanska and Kluczwody valleys located in the Polish Jurassic Highland within the Kraków Valleys Landscape Park. Visual assessment of the attractiveness of the landscape of these valleys was conducted using the point bonitation method. Bonitation is one of the most common research method used in geography e.g. for the evaluation of natural environment and landscape (Kot 2014). The method was based on the analysis and selection of criteria (natural and cultural elements) which have an effect on the visual attractiveness of the landscape (Śleszyński 1999; Wolski 2002). These criteria were used for the preparation of maps presenting the visual and aesthetic value of the landscape with application of GIS. These maps allowed to find areas with the highest landscape values. Moreover, it was possible to identify threatened landscapes, and those that should be protected. Furthermore, the paper presents the examples of the application of this method in environmental management and landscape planning

Problem mniejszości religijnych w Turcji jest tematem rzadko poruszanym w literaturze. Szczególnie mało jest pozycji dotyczących sytuacji Kościoła katolickiego. Dlatego głównym celem artykułu jest przedstawienie sytuacji prawnej Kościoła katolickiego, a także innych mniejszości religijnych w Turcji. Omówiono struktury terytorialne Kościoła rzymskokatolickiego oraz innych katolickich Kościołów wschodnich. Przedstawiono charakterystykę rozmieszczenia parafii i świątyń katolickich oraz zanalizowano zmiany struktury terytorialnej jednostek kościelnych. Dodatkowo przeprowadzono analizę uwarunkowań prawnych i historycznych, które mają wpływ na rozwój i zmiany przestrzennego rozmieszczenia katolików w Turcji. The problem of religious minorities, especially the Catholic Church in Turkey has not been widely discussed in literature. This paper reports the legal status and territorial structure of the catholic minority in Turkey in the context of general status of religious minorities in Turkey. The territorial structure of the Roman Catholic Church in Turkey, as well as other Eastern Catholic Churches is presented. Moreover, the distribution of parishes and churches is shown. Additionally, the analysis of historical and legal conditions that impact development and changes of Catholics’ distribution in Turkey was undertaken.

The paper presents the assessment of spatial planning process in the buffer zone of Słowiński National Park in Poland. The detailed analysis was carried out in the selected area (Smołdzino municipality) which is covered by Local Spatial Development Plan (LSDP). The spatial planning documents, especially the ones concerning natural conditions of the area (e.g. ecophysiographic analyses), were analysed in terms of their quality. Also, the author conducted field mapping in order to verify the compliance of documents with actual land use. In the buffer zone of national park a particular care of the natural environment should be taken. However, the quality of the analysed documents is poor, even in respect of their factual content. Authors of the documents often abandon expensive and time-consuming field studies, hence the documents tend to be prepared based on outdated cartographic materials. The preparation process of spatial planning documents is well defined in law. However, the research shows that even well-designed legal framework would not result in the highquality documents. It is often a personal factor of the authors failing to perform their duties properly, which impact the final outcomes.

Turcja jest krajem o zróżnicowanym środowisku geograficznym, co ma swoje odzwierciedlenie w różnorodności form turystyki. Najczęstszym celem wyjazdów jest turystyka wypoczynkowa i kulturowa. Geoturystyka, mimo dużego potencjału nie jest dostatecznie rozpowszechniona, szczególnie we wschodniej części Turcji. Obszar ten jest trudno dostępny dla turystów ze względu na dużą odległość i niestabilną sytuację polityczną. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie atrakcji geoturystycznych, ich dostępności oraz możliwości rozwoju tej gałęzi turystyki we Wschodniej Anatolii. Region ten, ze względu na zróżnicowaną rzeźbę i budowę geologiczną, posiada wybitne walory geotu-rystyczne, których nie sposób opisać w jednej pracy. Dlatego zaprezentowano 5 wybranych obiektów geoturystycznych: wulkany Ararat, Tendürek i Nemrut, jezioro Wan oraz góry Hakkari, które według obserwacji autorów w najlepszy sposób prezentują dziedzictwo geologiczne i geomorfologiczne tego obszaru. Turkey is the one of most popular tourist destination in Europe and Asia, it has a rich culture and beautiful natural environment. However, natural resources has not been used a lot. Geotourism in Turkey is less significant compared to coastal tourism, but has a rich development potential, especially on the eastern part of country. Geological and geomorphological heritage resources may be an important tourism development resource on this area. But the region is difficult to reach for tourist because of its extensive distances and political instability. The article introduces the most interesting geotouristic sites of Eastern Anatolia region, describes the geological and geomorpho-logical features and shows their availability and opportunities for development. Eastern Anatolia is a geographical region in the eastern part of Turkey. The region is located in Alpine-Himalayan orogenic belt. It has a very rugged and high topographic structure (mountain ranges, rift valley, volcanoes) and it is characterized by a very complex geology with many potential geotourism sites. This paper presents a 5 selected geosites: Ararat, Tendürek, Nemrut volcanos, Van Lake and Hakkari range, which due to authors observations depicted the geological and geomorphological heritage of Eastern Anatolia.

W niniejszej pracy zaprezentowano podobieństwa i różnice w postrzeganiu kraj obrazu przez Polaków i Turków. W ramach badań przeprowadzono ankiety z mieszkańcami Krakowa i Stambułu. W ankietach wykorzystano dziesięć zdjęć przedstawiających wybrane typy krajobrazu Polski i Turcji, sklasyfikowane na podstawie Europejskiej Klasyfikacji Krajobrazu (LANMAP). Badania wykazały, że choć ogólna ocena krajobrazu wśród mieszkańców Krakowa i Stambułu jest podobna, to przy wyrażaniu skrajnych emocji istnieją różnice. Przeprowadzone badania i analiza wyników pozwoliły wyciągnąć wnioski i uwagi metodyczne dotyczące wykonywania tego typu badań. This paper reports the similarities and differences in landscape perception between two various cultural groups (Poles and Turks –Cracow and Istanbul residents). Landscape photos used in the study were focusing on 10 selected types of landscapes –5 for each country (Poland and Turkey). They were categorized using an European Landscape Classification (LANMAP). The analysis was based on interviews with photo-based assessing procedures among Cracow and Istanbul residents. The survey instrument was available in Polish and Turkish. Generally, landscape perception is similar among Cracow and Istanbul residents whereas the differences can be noticed. This paper outlines also the methodological conclusions about this type of research.

W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono ocenę możliwości wdrażania koncepcji korytarzy ekologicznych w planowaniu przestrzennym na poziomie lokalnym. Do szczegółowej analizy wybrano 25 gmin w Polsce Północnej. W granicach tych gmin znajduje się bowiem uszczegółowiony na poziomie lokalnym przebieg Północnego Korytarza Ekologicznego na odcinku łączącym Bory Tucholskie i Lasy Iławskie. Analizie poddano miejscowe plany zagospodarowania przestrzennego oraz studia uwarunkowań i kierunków zagospodarowania przestrzennego. Dzięki temu skonfrontowano możliwości udrożnienia korytarzy ekologicznych wyznaczonych początkowo na poziomie krajowym, a następnie lokalnym z planowanym zagospodarowaniem przestrzeni. Podstawowym problemem wdrażania koncepcji korytarzy ekologicznych na poziomie lokalnym, tak jak i na innych szczeblach planowania, jest brak narzędzi prawnych, które w skuteczny sposób mogłyby zapewnić ochronę ciągłości ekologicznej w Polsce. Wyznaczane na poziomie krajowym korytarze po uszczegółowieniu na poziomie lokalnym okazują się często niedrożne. W analizowanym odcinku Północnego Korytarza znajduje się szereg obszarów problemowych wynikających z potrzeby istnienia w danym miejscu korytarza i planowanego rozwoju osadnictwa i turystyki.

There are numerous factors which influence tourists’ choices. One of them is landscape perception. This paper shows its significance in the process of selecting travel destinations in comparison to other factors. Also the relevance of environmental and anthropogenic landscape features have been taken under consideration. The landscape is a term which can be understood ambiguously. For that reason the research about comprehension of the landscape have been conducted. The study was carried out during travel festivals in Cracow (Poland).
