Intestinal obstruction due to congenital segmental absence of intestinal musculature in a neonate has been described. This report represents the fifth known case of this abnormality. The defective segment of the bowel was deficient in its muscle coat and consisted only of mucosa, submucosa and serous coats. Exact etiology of the condition is not known but it is presumed that discontinuous myogenesis may be due to some genetic or developmental defect. It is almost impossible to arrive at a preoperative diagnosis. Diagnosis can only be made with certainty at operation by transillumination of the bowel wall and its microscopic examination. A person's facial appearance matters in both social and professional contexts. Losing teeth has an impact on phonetics and mastication, but it also has an aesthetic effect on the lower face's appearance. Cheek sinking is caused by a decrease in muscular tone and an increase in the rate of resorption of the alveolar ridges. An edentulous patient will transform aesthetically if they receive facial as well as dental rehabilitation. The patient's social contacts and sense of self-worth both improve as a result. When an individual exhibits significant alveolar process resorption, traditional dentures are unable to offer sufficient support, hence requiring supplementary cheek support. Appliances for elevating or plumping the cheeks can be used for this. A 68-year-old male patient reported to the department of prosthodontics with a chief complaint of missing teeth and poor aesthetics. After a complete examination, a complete denture prosthesis with a detachable cheek plumper was planned. Press button retention for cheek plumpers is an advantage due to its easy installation and use. This article outlines a straightforward, inexpensive, and non-invasive process for creating a non-detachable cheek plumper using a press button for those who are edentulous. Dental implants are becoming a necessary component of the dental profession. The first bone resorption at the implant surface has an impact on implant success. Bone alterations surrounding the implant are a significant factor in determining the implant's effectiveness. Reducing the loss of peri-implant crestal bone has been a constant goal. In dental implantology, several procedures are carried out to improve implant stability and the healing of the bone. The ability of photobiomodulation techniques or low-level laser therapy (LLLT) to speed up osseointegration by inducing cellular metabolism and stimulating tissue healing has made them popular. Long-term implant rehabilitation is still a problem. After about three months of implantation, the patient should go through rehabilitation to allow for osseointegration. However, poor patient cooperation during lengthy treatments or patient neglect, especially during patient-intensive treatments, can lead to a range of issues that require distinct approaches to solve. A fixed prosthetic is currently the most sought-after course of treatment. Implant misplacement can be a concern, especially during the prosthetic stage. Following the appropriate protocols, one of which has been discussed in this report, makes it possible to achieve prosthetic outcomes for a number of difficult cases. In the case described in this report, resin-retained restoration was used as an alternative to an implant-supported prosthesis because of the non-optimal position of the implant at the time of the prosthetic phase, which was due to discontinuation of treatment on the part of the patient. The virtual articulator (VA) is a technology that simulates the jaw relation in a computer-generated setting. Augmented and virtual reality have been utilized as digital technology, which aids in many areas of dentistry and dental education. Today, a practicing dentist must keep up with the newer technologies, but with technology evolving so quickly it becomes challenging. In dentistry, the possibilities for digitization and technological advancements are limitless. Virtual articulators (VAs) allow a complete occlusion analysis using dental models that replicate all mandibular motions in static and dynamic scenarios. VA when executed in addition to other software enhances treatment planning and patient education, allowing quicker and more precise individualized diagnoses. The main objective of this study was to describe and evaluate the study outcomes in the available research on VAs, assess their needs, and evaluate their advantages and limitations in various aspects. A PubMed Central search was made of dental journals, with the identification of 135 articles out of which 30 were finally selected. The investigations conducted to evaluate the VA's dependability provide good visualization of the quantity and location of the dynamic interactions. In this study, water dispersible fluorescent carbon quantum dot (CQD) has been synthesised, having an average size of 8.6 ± 0.4 nm using Cynodon dactylon (CD) following microwave assisted green synthetic one-step method. As-prepared CQD fluoresces strongly at 444 nm having a quantum yield of 1% in water when excited at 350 nm. This fluorescence of CQD is sensitive toward As 3+ and Fe 3+ metal ions. These CQD are utilized for dual metal ion fluorescence sensing; turn-on fluorescence sensing for As 3+ and turn-off fluorescence sensing for Fe 3+ ions. Limit of detection for As 3+ and Fe 3+ ions has been found to be 19 nM and 0.10 μM respectively, which is the lowest value reported for As 3+ without any functionalization. The adsorption kinetics of As 3+ and Fe 3+ ions on CQD have been examined using pseudo-first-order-kinetic model revealing that physical adsorption is dominant over chemical processes in this work. For 0.41 g/L and 1.90 g/L dose of CQD, the equilibrium adsorption capacity was found to be 1.57 × 10 -6  mg/g, 2.91 × 10 -7  mg/g, and 1.01 × 10 -5  mg/g, 1.69 × 10 -6  mg/g respectively for As 3+ and Fe 3+ ions. Despite having low quantum yield in water, as-prepared CQD showed low cytotoxicity and good tolerance against photodegradation of biological cells at concentrations lower than 62.5 μg/mL and when the cells are illuminated up to 12 h. This study shows how remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) can extract land surface temperature (LST) from the Landsat 5, 7, and 8 datasets. In this research, LST over Kharun's lower catchment, located in Chhattisgarh, India, has been estimated. LST data from 2000, 2006, 2011, 2016, and 2021 were analyzed to see how the LULC pattern changed and how that changed LST. In 2000, the average temperature of the study region was 27.73 °C, whereas in 2021, it reached 33.47 °C. When the average temperature values for each class were determined, it was discovered that forest and adjacent waterbodies had the lowest values, with about 24.15 °C in 2000 and 27.65 °C in 2021, whereas urban regions had more variation in values, ranging from 30.15 °C in 2000 to 38.95 °C in 2021. There could be an increase in LST over time because cities are replacing the green cover. For example, there was a notable increase of 5.74 °C in the mean LST over the research area. The findings revealed that places with extensive urban sprawl had LST between 26 and 45°, which was greater than other natural land cover types, such as vegetation and waterbodies, which was between 24 and 35°. These findings support the suggested method's effectiveness for retrieving LST from the Landsat 5, 7, and 8 thermal bands when combined with integrated GIS approaches. Prostate cancer is the most diagnosed malignancy in men in the United States and the second leading cause of cancer-related death. For localized disease, radiation therapy is a standard treatment that is often curative. For metastatic disease, radiation therapy has been primarily used for palliation, however, several newer systemic radiation therapies have been demonstrated to significantly improve patient outcomes and improve survival. In particular, several targeted radionuclide therapies have been approved for the treatment of advanced-stage cancer, including strontium-89, samarium-153, and radium-223 for bone-metastatic disease, and lutetium-177-labeled PSMA-617 for patients with prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-expressing metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Contrarily, immune-based treatments have generally demonstrated little activity in advanced prostate cancer, with the exception of the autologous cellular vaccine, sipuleucel-T. This has been attributed to the presence of an immune-suppressive prostate cancer microenvironment. The ability of radiation therapy to not only eradicate tumor cells but also potentially other immune-regulatory cells within the tumor immune microenvironment suggests that targeted radionuclide therapies may be well poised to combine with immune-targeted therapies to eliminate prostate cancer metastases more effectively. This review provides an overview of the recent advances of targeted radiation agents currently approved for prostate cancer, and those being investigated in combination with immunotherapy, and discusses the challenges as well as the opportunities in this field.

This article aims to evaluate different methods and techniques published in the literature for tripodization in removable partial dentures. The systematic review was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Electronic databases like PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Science Direct were searched for manuscripts published till August 15, 2021. An electronic search was restricted to the English language of the publications to identify the relevant articles on tripoding techniques in removable partial dentures. A hand search was also carried out. A total of 18 articles were included in this systematic review. The documented 18 articles associated with the tripoding techniques were reviewed systematically. Accurate repositioning of a cast on the surveyor is a critical step in the fabrication of a removable prosthesis. Based on the ease of use and no modifications to the existing cast, the "tripoder attachment" and "swiveling device" can be concluded to be superior to others. 2-Arylquinazolines with a range of alkyl polyamines as side chain/ring functional motifs at the 4th-position were considered for antileishmanial study with the rationale that related heterocyclic scaffolds and polyamine functionalities are present in drugs, clinical trial agents, natural products and anti-parasitic/leishmanial agents. Synthesis involves construction of the 2-arylquinazolin-4-one ring and deoxyamination via deoxychlorination followed by S N Ar-based amination or a methodology of S N Ar-deoxyamination driven by BOP-mediated hydroxyl-activation. Various alkyl-polyamines important for activities were incorporated. A total of 26 compounds were prepared and screened against Leishmania donovani ( Ld ) promastigote cells using the MTT assay. Most of the investigated series of compounds showed characteristic leishmanicidal properties. Several compounds showed pronounced leishmanicidal activities (IC 50 : 5-6.5 μM) with higher efficiency than the antileishmanial drug miltefosine (IC 50 : 10.5 μM), and relatively less cytotoxicity to macrophage host cells (SI: 9.27-13.5) compared to miltefosine (SI: 3.42). Background: Immersion media such as ophthalmic irrigation solution, eye lubricant solution, and neutral soap solution will be the best, which will help in the longevity as well as the color stability of ocular prostheses., Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare color stability of ocular prosthesis after immersion in three different immersion media., Materials and Methods: A total of 90 samples of scleral acrylic resin were prepared, which were painted with natural dry earth pigment NEAS and then were divided into three groups. These samples were checked before and after immersion in respective media after 8 weeks. Aim: The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of three various polishing agents on provisional restorative material on immersion in a staining solutions., Objectives: The objective of the study is (1) To evaluate the effect of pumice on staining characteristics of provisional restorative material before and after immersion in chlorhexidine. (2) To evaluate the effect of aluminum oxide paste on staining characteristics of provisional restorative material before and after immersion in chlorhexidine. (3) To evaluate the effect of diamond paste on staining characteristics of provisional restorative material before and after immersion in chlorhexidine. (4) To compare and assess the outcome of three polishing agents on staining characteristics of provisional restorative material., Materials and Methods: Sixty samples (10 mm × 2 mm) were fabricated of bis-acryl composites (Protemp™ 4) by utilizing a metal mold. The samples were grouped into three groups ( n = 20), and various polishing agents were used, including pumice, aluminum oxide paste, and diamond polishing paste. The samples that were not exposed to any polishing agent served as the control group. The samples were kept in a water bath for a day at 37°C and were stained with chlorhexidine mouthwash. The color of all specimens was measured with a spectrophotometer before and after polishing, and color changes (ΔE) were calculated., Results: By using one-way ANOVA, significant difference was found in mean color change in three polishing materials ( F = 4.44, P = 0.016). By using Tukey test, statistically significant difference was found among pumice and aluminum oxide paste ( P = 0.027), among pumice and diamond paste ( P = 0.041) and no significant difference was found among aluminum oxide paste and diamond paste ( P = 0.985)., Conclusion: Pumice exhibited less staining which was statistically significant when compared with aluminum oxide paste and diamond paste. Arteriovenous (AV) malformation is a congenital vascular anomaly in which there is an abnormal connection between the arterial and venous system resulting from developmental arrest during embryogenesis. In children, they are rare and potentially life-threatening. In the present case, an 8-year-old male patient presented with a simple gingival swelling associated with mobility of the corresponding teeth, which appeared relatively simple to excise but had an AV malformation associated with it. Timely diagnosis and investigations revealed its presence and hence prevented a catastrophy from occurring. Conventional method of surgical ligation of the external carotid artery was done as an emergency procedure and surgical resection was done without compromising the associated anatomic structures. This procedure helped control the bleeding as well as achieved an uneventful healing. This case report intends to create an awareness among Pediatric Dentists regarding the condition and thereby preventing an uncontrolled and unmanageable hemorrhage occurring in the Dental Office.

The low cost, simple, robust, mobile, and easy to use Mobile Motion Capture (MiMiC) system is presented and the constraints which guided the design of MiMiC are discussed. The MiMiC Android application allows motion data to be captured from kinematic modules such as Shimmer 2r sensors over Bluetooth. MiMiC is cost effective and can be used for an entire day in a person's daily routine without being intrusive. MiMiC is a flexible motion capture system which can be used for many applications including fall detection, detection of fatigue in industry workers, and analysis of individuals' work patterns in various environments.

The purpose of this study is to examine the Wiimote MotionPlus system as a method to capture angular kinematic data of the knee, hip and back of a participant performing a lifting task. Twenty one subjects were recruited and asked to perform a lifting task while having four Wiimotes strapped to the lower leg, upper leg, and back at the hip and below the shoulder blades. The raw signals from the four Wiimotes were filtered and normalized before being combined to obtain the proper change in angular data. The results of the study demonstrate that it is feasible to combine the data from multiple Wiimotes to obtain kinematic data which may be used in ergonomic analysis.

Infectious bursal disease continues to pose an important threat to the commercial poultry industry, especially after the emergence of virulent infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV). L-arginine, a ubiquitous, basic amino acid is used as an immunostimulant in variety of human and animal studies with great success in immunosuppressed hosts. In the present study, we evaluated the immunomodulatory effects of L-arginine on humoral and cellular immune response in chickens immunized with live intermediate plus (IP) strain of IBDV vaccine. Chickens vaccinated with IP strain and supplemented with 2% L-arginine showed 100% protection after challenge with virulent IBDV compared to 80% protection induced by IP strain alone. IP strain vaccine elicited good antibody titres in both the groups, IP + L-arginine and IP alone, however, the antibody titres in IP + L-arginine group were significantly higher (P < 0.05) than IP vaccinated chickens. Mitogenic response of peripheral blood lymphocytes to specific IBDV antigen stimulation was significantly higher in IP + L-arginine group (P < 0.05). Peripheral blood lymphocytes were able to rapidly clear the suppressive effects of IP strain and virulent challenge virus in IP + L-arginine group. These results strongly suggest that l-arginine plays a vital role in modulation of protective immune response against IBDV.

Haemorrhagic septicaemia (HS), an economically important disease of cattle and buffaloes, is caused by Pasteurella multocida (6:B). Vaccination against this disease is widely practised. Plain broth bacterins, or alum precipitated and aluminium hydroxide gel vaccines are administered twice a year since these vaccines offer an immunity of 4-6 months. Many countries use oil adjuvant vaccine (OAV), which gives both a higher degree and a longer duration of immunity up to 1 year. A double emulsion and multiple emulsion vaccine consisting of a thin viscosity have also been experimentally developed that gave an immunity parallel to OAV. Recently, a live vaccine developed from a fallow deer strain (B:3,4) has been used in Myanmar that offers an immunity for more than a year but is not free from constraints. The present review provides information on HS vaccines developed from time to time using whole bacteria or their components. The kinetics and isotype of antibody and cell-mediated immune responses have also been poorly understood so far, and hence information on their role in protection against HS is reviewed.

A multiple emulsion (ME), vaccine against Pasteurella multocida (P52) infection in cattle was prepared and the efficiency in terms of immunity to direct challenge, duration of this immunity for up to 1 year and the role of humoral and cell-mediated immune mechanisms were studied. ME vaccine was sterile, safe and was potent when tested in rabbits and calves. Nineteen calves were immunized with a single 4 ml dose of ME vaccine intramuscularly. Group of these calves were challenge infected with virulent P. multocida (P52) (10(-1) 18 h old broth culture) given by the subcutaneous route at 21 days, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 1 year. All the immunized calves withstood challenge infection and showed 100% protection. Humoral immune response was measured by indirect haemagglutination test (IHA) and enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA). Statistically ELISA values were found to be superior to IHA values because of small coefficient of variance. A fall in mean antibody titres during 24 h, 48 h, post-challenge infection was recorded whereas a steady increase in the titre after 72 h up to 10 days was noticed. The prechallenge mean titre in animals correlated with survival of animals. Humoral antibodies were detected as early as 7 day post-immunization and persisted to 1 year after immunization. Leucocyte migration inhibition test showed > 20% migration inhibition during all pre- and post-challenge periods in animals suggesting an involvement of cell-mediated immune mechanism in protection. Our findings suggested that both humoral and cell-mediated immune responses contribute to protection in vaccinated animals. The results of these studies of ME vaccine showed that it can be successfully used for the effective control of haemorrhagic septicaemia.

Quantitative analysis of placental pathology was carried out on 20 placentae from various grades of pre-eclampsia eclampsia syndrome and 20 placentae from control group. Placental weights were lower in the study group. The gross abnormalities noted were the placental infarcts, retroplacental haematoma and calcification. The striking villous lesions observed in the study group were cytotrophoblastic cell proliferation, thickening of villous basement membrane and paucity of vasculosyncytial membrane and these findings correlated well with the severity of maternal disease. These vascular villous lesions were considered secondary to uteroplacental ischaemia.

The sensitivity of enzyme linked immunoassay (ELISA) was compared to that of haemagglutination inhibition (HI) test in detection of humoral antibodies in birds vaccinated with Newcastle disease virus (NDV). The highest antibody titre at day 21 post-vaccination as detected by ELISA in the sera of vaccinated birds was 2560 by all strains in contrast to the HI titres of 640 to 1280. The antibody titre was higher in all pre- and post-vaccination sera as determined by ELISA than detected by HI test.
