Polygenic risk scores (PRSs) can significantly enhance breast cancer risk prediction when combined with clinical risk factor data. While many studies have explored the value-add of PRSs, little is known about the potential impact of gene-by-gene or gene-by-environment interactions towards enhancing the risk discrimination capabilities of multi-modal models combining PRSs with clinical data. In this study, we integrated data on 318 individual genotype variants along with clinical data in a neural network to explore whether gene-by-gene (i.e., between individual variants) and/or gene-by-environment (between clinical risk factors and variants) interactions could be leveraged jointly during training to improve breast cancer risk prediction performance. We benchmarked our approach against a baseline model combining traditional univariate PRSs with clinical data in a logistic regression model and ran an interpretability analysis to identify feature interactions. While our model did not demonstrate improved performance over the baseline, we discovered 248 (<1%) statistically significant gene-by-gene and gene-by-environment interactions out of the ~53.6k possible feature pairs, the most contributory of which included rs6001930 (MKL1) and rs889312 (MAP3K1), with age and menopause being the most heavily interacting non-genetic risk factors. We also modeled the significant interactions as a network of highly connected features, suggesting that potential higher-order interactions are captured by the model. Although gene-by-environment (or gene-by-gene) interactions did not enhance breast cancer risk prediction performance in neural networks, our study provides evidence that these interactions can be leveraged by these models to inform their predictions. This study represents the first application of neural networks to screen for interactions impacting breast cancer risk using real-world data.

We study the task of 3D multi-object re-identification from embodied tours. Specifically, an agent is given two tours of an environment (e.g. an apartment) under two different layouts (e.g. arrangements of furniture). Its task is to detect and re-identify objects in 3D - e.g. a "sofa" moved from location A to B, a new "chair" in the second layout at location C, or a "lamp" from location D in the first layout missing in the second. To support this task, we create an automated infrastructure to generate paired egocentric tours of initial/modified layouts in the Habitat simulator using Matterport3D scenes, YCB and Google-scanned objects. We present 3D Semantic MapNet (3D-SMNet) - a two-stage re-identification model consisting of (1) a 3D object detector that operates on RGB-D videos with known pose, and (2) a differentiable object matching module that solves correspondence estimation between two sets of 3D bounding boxes. Overall, 3D-SMNet builds object-based maps of each layout and then uses a differentiable matcher to re-identify objects across the tours. After training 3D-SMNet on our generated episodes, we demonstrate zero-shot transfer to real-world rearrangement scenarios by instantiating our task in Replica, Active Vision, and RIO environments depicting rearrangements. On all datasets, we find 3D-SMNet outperforms competitive baselines. We describe the privatization method used in reporting labor market insights from LinkedIn's Economic Graph, including the differentially private algorithms used to protect member's privacy. The reports show who are the top employers, as well as what are the top jobs and skills in a given country/region and industry. We hope this data will help governments and citizens track labor market trends during the COVID-19 pandemic while also protecting the privacy of our members.

We study the task of semantic mapping - specifically, an embodied agent (a robot or an egocentric AI assistant) is given a tour of a new environment and asked to build an allocentric top-down semantic map ("what is where?") from egocentric observations of an RGB-D camera with known pose (via localization sensors). Towards this goal, we present SemanticMapNet (SMNet), which consists of: (1) an Egocentric Visual Encoder that encodes each egocentric RGB-D frame, (2) a Feature Projector that projects egocentric features to appropriate locations on a floor-plan, (3) a Spatial Memory Tensor of size floor-plan length x width x feature-dims that learns to accumulate projected egocentric features, and (4) a Map Decoder that uses the memory tensor to produce semantic top-down maps. SMNet combines the strengths of (known) projective camera geometry and neural representation learning. On the task of semantic mapping in the Matterport3D dataset, SMNet significantly outperforms competitive baselines by 4.01-16.81% (absolute) on mean-IoU and 3.81-19.69% (absolute) on Boundary-F1 metrics. Moreover, we show how to use the neural episodic memories and spatio-semantic allocentric representations build by SMNet for subsequent tasks in the same space - navigating to objects seen during the tour("Find chair") or answering questions about the space ("How many chairs did you see in the house?"). Analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) allow physical signals to be processed using digital hardware. The power consumed in conversion grows with the sampling rate and quantization resolution, imposing a major challenge in power-limited systems. A common ADC architecture is based on sample-and-hold (S/H) circuits, where the analog signal is being tracked only for a fraction of the sampling period. In this paper, we propose the concept of eSampling ADCs, which harvest energy from the analog signal during the time periods where the signal is not being tracked. This harvested energy can be used to supplement the ADC itself, paving the way to the possibility of zero-power consumption and power-saving ADCs. We analyze the tradeoff between the ability to recover the sampled signal and the energy harvested, and provide guidelines for setting the sampling rate in the light of accuracy and energy constraints. Our analysis indicates that eSampling ADCs operating with up to 12 bits per sample can acquire bandlimited analog signals such that they can be perfectly recovered without requiring power from the external source. Furthermore, our theoretical results reveal that eSampling ADCs can in fact save power by harvesting more energy than they consume. To verify the feasibility of eSampling ADCs, we present a circuit-level design using standard complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) 65 nm technology. An eSampling 8-bit ADC which samples at 40 MHZ is designed on a Cadence Virtuoso platform. Our experimental study involving Nyquist rate sampling of bandlimited signals demonstrates that such ADCs are indeed capable of harvesting more energy than that spent during analog-to-digital conversion, without affecting the accuracy.
