The diagnosis of dengue disease, caused by the dengue virus (DENV) (a flavivirus), often requires serologic testing during acute and early convalescent phases of the disease. Some symptoms of DENV infection, such as nonspecific fever, are similar to those caused by infection with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. In studies with few COVID-19 cases, positive DENV immunoglobulin M (IgM) results were reported with various serologic tests, indicating possible cross-reactivity in these tests for DENV and SARS-CoV-2 infections (1,2). DENV antibodies can cross-react with other flaviviruses, including Zika virus. To assess the potential cross-reactivity of SARS-CoV-2, DENV, and Zika virus IgM antibodies, serum specimens from 97 patients from Puerto Rico and 12 U.S.-based patients with confirmed COVID-19 were tested using the DENV Detect IgM Capture enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) (InBios International).* In addition, 122 serum specimens from patients with confirmed dengue and 121 from patients with confirmed Zika virus disease (all from Puerto Rico) were tested using the SARS-CoV-2 pan-Ig Spike Protein ELISA (CDC).

Background Sensitive and specific SARS-CoV-2 antibody diagnostics are urgently needed to estimate the seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection in both the general population and special risk groups. Moreover, validated serologic assays are critical to understanding immunity to SARS-CoV-2 infection over time and identifying correlates of protection. Methods An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) protocol to detect antibodies (IgG) that bind the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein was validated and ROC curve analysis performed by testing a large panel of pre-pandemic sera (n=162) and convalescent sera from RT-PCR-confirmed COVID-19 cases (n=60). We then applied this test in two cohorts: 1) Healthcare personnel (HCP) that were enrolled in a longitudinal surveillance cohort just after peak local transmission and 2) Mildly ill patients being tested for SARS-CoV-2 infection by RT-PCR from NP swabs in an ambulatory testing clinic. Demographics of mildly symptomatic patients tested for SARS-CoV-2 with RT-PCR Results ROC curve analysis yielded an AUC of 0.9953, with a sensitivity and specificity at 91.67% and 99.38% at the optimal OD normalization threshold of 0.20. In 240 HCP surveilled at enrollment, 5.83% had positive IgG results. Of 19 symptomatic patients who presented to the ambulatory clinic, 5/19 had a positive PCR. In convalescence (13–74 days post symptom onset), 3 of those 5 were positive for IgG. Validation of the SARS-CoV-2 RBD ELISA ROC Curve Analysis Conclusion We demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity of the SARS-CoV-2 RBD ELISA. This simple assay is an efficient way to track seroconversion and duration of antibody responses to SARS-CoV-2 for different populations, particularly since RBD-binding antibodies have been shown to correlate with neutralization activity and may be useful to determine protective immunity following natural infection or vaccination. Ongoing work will assess variation in magnitude, character and duration of antibody responses in key populations and seek to maximize deployability of large-scale SARS-CoV-2 serology. The road network condition depends mainly on factors such as traffic, structural and functional characteristics of asphalt and local weather conditions, and its maintenance, have important spatial implications. This document describes the implementation process of an asphalt management system for Medellin city, developed in a GIS platform. The system is supported in an inventory and diagnostic geodatabase, which feeds the modeling software for asphalt deterioration, and provides intervention recommendations for each road segment. This implementation helps supporting the decision making process for authorities, in order to perform the planning of road network maintenance, optimizing available resources and providing better service to community El estado de la malla vial depende fundamentalmente de factores tales como el tráfico, características estructurales y funcionales del pavimento y condiciones climatológicas locales, y su mantenimiento tiene importantes implicaciones espaciales. Este documento describe el proceso de implementación del sistema de gestión de pavimentos de la ciudad de Medellín, desarrollado en una plataforma SIG. El sistema está soportado en una geodatabase corporativa de inventario y diagnóstico, el cual alimenta un software de modelación del deterioro del pavimento y arroja recomendaciones de intervención en cada segmento vial. Este sistema sirve como apoyo a las autoridades encargadas a la toma de decisiones, con el fin de realizar la planeación del mantenimiento de la malla vial, optimizar los recursos disponibles y ofrecer un mejor servicio a la comunidad.

Se presenta un balance de algunos procesos claves y resultados del Sistema General de Seguridad Social en Salud (SGSSS) en Colombia. Se realizó una revisión sistemática de literatura publicada en revistas indexadas con valoración de la calidad de la evidencia, y literatura no publicada en revistas. Los recursos financieros del sistema de salud, se han incrementado de manera sostenida, mientras el gasto en salud se ha situado alrededor del 8% del PIB. La cobertura, medida por la afiliación a los regímenes contributivo y subsidiado, se encuentra alrededor del 92% de la población total. El Plan Obligatorio de Salud, que define las prestaciones a las cuales se tiene acceso, se ha mantenido con un carácter amplio y ha sido rebasado por mecanismos de reclamo jurídico (tutelas), generándose déficits financieros. El sistema de salud ha contribuido al mejoramiento del ingreso de los más pobres, pero persisten las inequidades que provienen de la ausencia de cobertura universal, de las diferencias en los planes de salud y en el gasto del sistema según ingresos de la población. El avance del SGSSS es positivo pero no ha logrado alcanzar la universalidad y se ha estancado en acceso a los servicios y equidad.An overview of some of the key processes and results of Colombia's National Health System is presented. A systematic review of the literature evaluating the quality of the evidence published in indexed journals and literature not published in journals was made. Health system financial resources have seen a sustained increase while spending on health has remained at around 8% of GNP. Coverage, measured by affiliation to contributory and subsidized regimes, is in the order of 92% of the total population. The Mandatory Health Plan, defining the benefits to which one has access, has been broadly maintained but has been hampered by mechanisms for making legal complaints, thereby leading to financial deficits. The health system has contributed towards improving the poorest sector's income, but inequalities persist due to the lack of universal coverage, differences in health plans and the system's expenditure according to the population's income. Advances made in the National Health System have been positive but universality has not been achieved and this has stagnated in matters regarding access to services and equality.

En el trópico existen recursos forrajeros que poseen un gran potencial en la alimentación de conejos y, además, pueden ser producidos en grandes cantidades. El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar el efecto de suministrar forraje fresco de Tithonia diversifolia, Trichanthera gigantea y Arachis pin-toi en la alimentación de conejos, durante la fase de ceba, sobre el desempeño productivo. Se utilizaron 16 conejos de la raza Nueva Zelanda Blanco, 8 hembras y 8 machos, con 30 días de edad y peso vivo de 976±63g, que fueron distri-buidos en los tratamientos, según un diseño experimental bloques al azar, utilizando el sexo del animal, como factor de bloqueo. El experimento presentó una duración de 35 días. Los tratamientos consistieron en cuatro dietas suministradas a conejos, durante la fase de engorde, que se diferenciaron según el tipo de forraje utilizado: un control en donde sólo se suministró concentrado a voluntad y, otros tres, en los que, adicionalmente, se proporcionaron 180g FV/día de T. diversifolia,T. gigantea o A. pintoi. Los animales fueron sa-crificados a los 65 días de edad. El suministro de forraje no afectó el peso ni el consumo de concentrado. El consumo total de alimento, concentrado+forraje, fue mayor para los conejos que recibieron el A. pintoi frente a los que recibieron T. gigantea, pero no en comparación con T. diversifolia. There are forage resources in the tropic with great potential in diets for rabbits, which that can be produced in large quantities. The aim of this research was to evaluate the effect on the performance of using in the diet Tithonia diversifolia, Trichanthera gigantea and Arachis pintoi as fresh fodder in the diet of fattening rabbits. Sixteen rabbits of the White New Zealand breed, eight females and eight males, with 30 days of age and live weight of 976±63g were used, in a randomized block design, using the sex of the animal as the blocking factor. The experiment lasted 35 days. Treatments consisted of four diets fed to rabbits during the fattening phase, differentiated according to the forage type used: a control where rabbits were only supplied with concentrate ad libitum and three treatments in which additionally 180g/day of either T. gigantea, T. diversifolia or A. pintoi were offered. The animals were slaughtered at 65 days of age. Forage supply did not affect neither the weight nor the consumption of concentrate. The total consumption of feed, concentrate+forage, was higher in rabbits receiving A. pintoi compared with those who received T. gigantea, but not compared to T. diversifolia Incluye referencias bibliográficas

En el presente proyecto se realiza una investigación sobre el criterio de selección de personal al cargo de conductor de las personas que laboran en una empresa de servicios de la Ciudad de Medellín, determinando que el cargo de conductor es el que más prima al momento de reclutar personal. La investigación parte desde la gestión del recurso humano y la administración del personal, que tiene como finalidad identificar el desarrollo de las actividades que se realizan en la empresa para el reclutamiento, contratación y selección de personal formulada por una preguntas de investigación que permita identificar que el cargo de conductor es el criterio más importante y tenido en cuenta por la empresa para la seleccionar el personal. En la investigación que tuvo la participación de la coordinadora regional y los conductores de la empresa de servicios identificada como: Talentum Temporal de la cual se obtuvo la información más relevante, dando claridad al logro de los objetivo general y específicos trazados en la investigación, igualmente se demuestra y desarrolla la destreza de los investigadores por medio de sus conocimientos manifestando su honestidad, imparcialidad, habilidad, objetividad, control, comunicación, comprensión y cortesía con la coordinadora y conductores.
