This article provides a review of extra-articular pelvic impingement syndromes, which are conditions that can cause pain and restricted movement due to abnormal contact between bone and soft tissue structures. The most common syndromes discussed include iliopsoas impingement, subspine impingement, ischiofemoral impingement, and greater trochanter-pelvic impingement. The article emphasizes the importance of radiologic evaluation in diagnosing and guiding treatment for these syndromes. It also describes the imaging findings associated with each syndrome, including anterior labral tears, thickening of the iliopsoas tendon, enlarged or displaced anterior inferior iliac spine, narrowing of the ischiofemoral space, and contact between the greater trochanter and ilium or posterior acetabulum. The authors conclude that a detailed understanding of the anatomy and pathology of these syndromes, along with multimodality imaging, is crucial for identifying and managing them effectively.
