INTRODUCTION: The qualification of managers in terms of management skills is one of the most important factors in the continuous success of each organization, and utilizing such skills can have a positive contribution in the effectiveness of the organization while improving the performance of the employees in line with the objectives and goals of the organization. The study's primary objective was to examine the necessary skills of the hospital managers and their capabilities to manage the challenges in providing health care facilities to their patients and employees. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study is a qualitative that deep interviews were performed with 22 managers (senior and middle managers) of educational hospitals of Kermanshah city, and the sample size was 22 individuals. The interviews were analyzed by a MAXQDA software application after transcription. RESULTS: This study includes 8 themes and 23 subthemes. The strategic skill, the perceptive skill, the human relations skill, work experience, and personal characteristics were among the skills necessary for hospital managers. Some of the challenges facing the hospital managers included rapid changes in the policies, the limitations of financial resources, and lack of proportion between the educational and occupational spheres. CONCLUSION: Because of their existential philosophy and differences with other service sectors, managing hospitals poses a particular sensitivity. In this regard, the role of the hospital manager is very important. Therefore, in order to meet the satisfaction of those receiving services, decision-makers and policy-makers must think twice when selecting and appointing hospital managers and evaluate and appraise this group in terms of abilities and skills necessary for managing such an important service section.

Objective: The present research was conducted to evaluate the negative effects of nicotine powder on the blood physiology, and biochemical and histological alterations of Labeo rohita. Materials and Methods: Fish were divided into four groups (1–4). Fish groups 2, 3, and 4 were exposed to different concentrations of nicotine, such as 0.75, 1.25, and 1.75 mg/l, while group 1 acted as a control. To find out the long-term impact of nicotine on body physiology, we conducted a 42-day experiment. After the completion of the experiment, hematology, biochemical assays, and histology were done. Results: Results revealed a considerable increase in HGB, red blood cells, WBCs, hematocrit, mean corpuscular volume, red cell distribution width -SD, procalcitonin, neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, triglycerides, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, very low-density lipoprotein, alanine transaminase, aspartate aminotransferase, globulin, thyroid stimulating hormone, BUN, creatinine, and blood glucose levels, whereas mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, mean corpuscular hemoglobin, RDW, platelet, high-density lipoprotein, albumin, total proteins, and T3 levels were significantly (p ≤ 0.05) decreased in exposed fish as compared to control group fish. Histological alterations showed that exposure to smokeless nicotine causes deleterious and degenerative effects in the liver, kidney, and gills of exposed fish. Conclusion: Nicotine administration in fish results in adverse effects on different biochemical and hematological parameters and causes histological alterations in some vital organs of exposed fish. In the field of structural equation modeling (SEM), all commonly used case influence measures are model-based measures whose performance are affected by target-model-misspecification-error. This problem casts light on the need to come up with a model-free measure which avoids the misspecification problem. the main purpose of this study is to introduce a model-free case influence measure, the Deleted- One-Covariance-Residual (DOCR), and then evaluating its performance compared to that of Mahalanobis distance (MD) and generalized Cook’s distance (gCD). The data of this study were simulated under three systematically manipulated conditions: the sample size, the proportion of target cases to non-target cases, and the type of model used to generate the data. The findings suggest that the DOCR measure generally performed better than MD and gCD in identifying the target cases across all simulated conditions. However, the performance of the DOCR measure under a small sample size was not satisfactory, and it raised a red flag about the sensitivity of this measure to small sample size. Therefore, researchers and practitioners should only use the DOCR measure with a sufficiently large sample size, but not larger than 600.

Follicular Lymphoma is a type of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It is defined as a lymphoma of germinal center B cells and a complex disease involving genetic and epigenetic mutations of Follicular B cell. Some of the commonly known alterations are cell in BCL-2 oncogene and somatically mutated genes. Follicular Lymphoma is the second most prevalent malignancy in the west accounting for about 10-20% of all lymphomas although an alarming rise has been seen in Pakistan as well. A lot of diagnostic challenges are being faced as this disease is indolent and presents atypical features. An effective treatment regime for follicular lymphoma fluctuates depending on the extent of disease and the medical history of the patient. Various methods are available for the risk assessment of the disease. Radiotherapy, rituximab monotherapy or combination therapy are the first line of treatment for restricted spread for follicular lymphoma. For aggressive stage of disease is managed with disease surveillance with imaging and rituximab is given in low grade tumors while chemotherapy and along with immunotherapy is the choice of treatment in high grade tumors. We report a patient here who presented with gross and progressing edema of the right lower limb that started in the foot and progressed proximally up to the thigh. Literature shows that unilateral lymphoedema could be an initial symptom of malignancy and is more common in woman than in males so must be sought as a potential diagnosis.

This study explored parents’ attitudes towards vaccinating their children against COVID-19 and the rate of vaccine hesitancy in Oman. A cross-sectional, online, self-administered questionnaire, previously validated and administered between June 2021 and May 2022, was used. The questionnaire consisted of nine items. Parents of children younger than 12 years were eligible for participation. A total of 384 participants, including 207 males (54%), completed the questionnaire, resulting in an 86% response rate (384/447). The results showed that 69% of participants were hesitant to vaccinate their children aged 1–11 years. In parents of children aged 1–4 years, vaccination status was significantly associated with vaccine hesitancy (odds ratio [OR], 0.116; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.044–0.306; p = 0.001). Furthermore, after multivariable analysis, compared to the fathers, mothers were significantly less likely to be associated with vaccine hesitancy (OR, 0.451; 95% CI, 0.240–0.848; p = 0.013).

Objective: The study investigated the gut content and recorded morphometric and hematological parameters in the Eurasian collared dove (Streptopelia decaocto). Materials and Methods: 24 samples of healthy birds (12 from each sex) were collected from different wetlands in Punjab, Pakistan, from December 2022 until February 2023. Birds were cap¬tured live for blood samples, morphometric, and gut analyses. Results: The current study revealed that mensural measurements showed no significant differences in all parameters except tail length, which was significantly longer in males (14.59 ± 0.30) compared to females (12.88 ± 0.43). Hematological parameters were hemoglobin, 23.95 gm/dl; red blood cells, 3.97 × 106/μl; white blood cells, 429.9.67 × 103/μl; hematocrit, 72.14%; mean cor¬puscular volume, 183.24 FL; mean corpuscular hemoglobin, 61.70 pg; mean corpuscular hemo¬globin concentration, 32.37 pg; platelets, 7.01/μl; and red cell distribution width, 110.86/μl. The percentages of neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, and eosinophils were 71.33%, 23.03%, 3.30%, and 1.43%, respectively. The gut content of the Eurasian collared dove mainly consisted of rice, wheat, corn, and millet seeds. Some stony materials were also present. Conclusion: Our study concluded that male and female Eurasian collared doves are alike in biometrics (except tail length) and hematological profiles. Gut content and weight were also similar. Males were slightly larger than females. The gut content showed that the Eurasian collared dove mainly feeds on rice, wheat, corn, and millet seeds. The paper explores the futuristic calibration of Pakistan’s constitutional development and its interpretation through precedents in the face of multiple sociopolitical, socioeconomic, and legal challenges. In particular, it analyzes the essential normative characteristics of constitutional legal framework based on separation of powers between pillars of the state vis-à-vis civil-military relationship. The article attempts to assess the constitutional direction from a broader legal and jurisprudential perspective meant to provide an avenue of progress and prosperity through its compatibility with sociopolitical norms. The main inquiry of the article is whether the constitutional evolution of Pakistan as a democratic state would be able to withstand the burden of contemporary socioeconomic, sociopolitical, and geopolitical challenges in creating a balance of power between civil and military institutions or would lead to more blurred boundaries instigating institutional conflicts and interventionist models. The paper through legal lens draws upon theories of legal positivism and its critique to understand the constitutional legitimacy of military interventions in democratic and political system. It covers the literature gap in analyzing jurisprudential approach of Pakistan’s judiciary as custodian of constitutional and democratic norms vis-à-vis constitutional scheme of civil-military relations, and its institutionalization in comparison with other international models suggesting pragmatic civilian control. In the end, the paper recommends a comprehensive institutional framework carved out of domestic realities as well as internationally-recognized constitutional schemes.

Simple and cost-effective procedures for the direct integration of ferroelectric perovskite oxides into Ni structures are necessary to realize related multifunctional metallic microelectromechanical systems, such as dual-source energy harvesters. This is especially difficult in the case of lead-containing morphotropic phase boundary materials for high piezoelectric response because the two components are thermodynamically incompatible and the formation of NiOx or perovskite oxide reduction takes place depending on the processing conditions. We show here that low-temperature solution processing is an effective means to kinetically limit nickel oxidation, capable of providing BiFeO3–PbTiO3 films on Ni plates at only 500 °C. Bulk-like ferroelectric properties and a distinctive magnetoelectric response were attained. This perovskite system, not explored before on Ni, has a much larger switchable polarization than the widely studied Pb(Zr,Ti)O3, and it is shown here to present an excellent downscaling behavior of ferroelectric properties until the verge of the nanoscale.

The utility of the maximum likelihood F-test was demonstrated as an alternative to the omnibus Chi-square test when evaluating model fit in confirmatory factor analysis with small samples, as it has been well documented that the likelihood ratio test (T[subscript ML]) with small samples is not Chi-square distributed.

The present study describes an R function that implements six corrective procedures developed by Bartlett, Swain, and Yuan in the correction of 21 statistics associated with the omnibus Chi-square test, the residuals, or fit indices in confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM).

The goal of the present study was to propose a visualization of aberrant response patterns based on the idea put forth by the Cronbach-Mesbach curve. First, an index of person reliability is developed using the K-R 20 formula followed by a backward stepwise procedure in which one person at a time is deleted from the model. Observations for which reliability is no longer monotonically increasing suggest that they are candidates for aberrant responding. Using data from the quantitative domain of a national aptitude test the proposed visualization technique was demonstrated. The external validity of the procedure was tested by contrasting the person fit reliability estimates with those derived from other indices of aberrant responding such as the Ht. Results indicated that individuals not covarying with other individuals concerning their response patterns and concordance to the measurement of a unified latent trait were identified by both the present procedure and Ht and U3 at a rate of 100%. By plotting those individuals using Person Response Curves (PRCs) results confirmed the lack of monotonicity in the relationship between item difficulty and person skill. Consequently, results confirm the usefulness of the present methodology as an index for identifying responders who manifest themselves with aberrant responses and who are not conducive to the measurement of the latent trait.

The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the reliability and validity of the General Aptitude Test (GAT), a national instrument for the measurement of aptitude/achievement in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a function of daytime testing. Participants were 722 students who took on the GAT across morning and evening administrations in a within-person pre-post design. Participants were matched for gender, parental education, and test center characteristics (i.e., size). The GAT was tested for its psychometric properties and its measurement invariance across time of day. Results pointed to a significant misfit using an exact invariance protocol. Specifically, there was a large number of non-invariant items pointing to Differential Item Functioning (DIF). Second, internal consistency reliabilities were consistently lower during morning testing compared to evening testing as evidenced using both statistical and visual means. Concerns about dimensionality were also raised for the morning compared to the evening administration. Last, comparison of performance levels indicated that morning testing was associated with significant decrements in performance across all domains compared to performance levels during evening testing. The results have implications for the validity of measurement and public testing policy if test validity during morning administration is compromised.

The goal of the present study was to evaluate the roles of item position in terms of item difficulty levels in the assessment of aptitude. Using data from a National Examination in Saudi Arabia, the item position effect was evaluated as a teacher licensure test (GTLT) was administered using five different forms with the same items appearing in a different order. Results indicated minuscule in magnitude position effects estimates, overall, with initially 11.1% of the tests being significant but all of them failing to reach significance using the Holm–Bonferroni’s and Sidak corrective procedures. With regard to gender, item position effects emerged in 47.6% of the tests after adjusting the level of significance using the Sidak correction. Interestingly, the direction of effect was consistent so that in 87% of the significant gender comparisons, item position effects were in the direction where females were spending more time on items when they appeared in later positions on the test compared to males. Assuming that items appearing later on the test are likely more difficult, the present findings suggest a profile of deep processing and active engagement in females when facing achievement tests.

The inspection and maintenance of electrical power lines (PL) via unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) require fast and accurate PL detection to ensure smooth and secure electrical operations. However, the detection of PLs from aerial images is a highly challenging task due to the thin nature of PLs and the inherent noisy image backgrounds. Traditional line and edge detection methods do not detect the PLs accurately due to the cluttered backgrounds while the more recent deep learning (DL) CNNs are also not feasible for efficient PL detection due to the coarse bounding boxes and the computationally expensive pixel-based segmentations. Hence, in this study we propose PLPose, a novel framework for detecting the PLs via key points-based pose estimation technique and adapt the MobileNetV3 CNN for this task (kMobileNetV3), by adding a simple key point detection head to predict the PL key points. We also introduce a novel data-centric architecture (kMobileNetV3 + UDP), by adding the unbiased data processing (UDP) module to our kMobileNetV3, for faster and more accurate key point-based PL detection along with novel methods for data annotations and performance evaluation. Evaluations of PLPose on three benchmark PL datasets (PLDM, PLDU and the Mendeley Powerline Dataset) reveal that our proposed framework outperforms the state-of-the-art top-down pose estimation networks (HRNet-w32, HRNet-w32 + UDP and Resnet-50 Simple Baselines) in processing speed (∼29 FPS) and model size (5.23 M) for PL detection. Thus, the comprehensive experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed framework. Our code is available from Github (https://www.github.com/rubeea/pl_mmpose).
