Increased energy consumption, driven by climate change and the rise of new industries, has spurred a demand for alternative cooling technologies to replace energy‐intensive systems and mitigate environmental pollution. Radiative cooling, leveraging the optical properties of materials to cool without emitting pollutants or consuming energy, is considered a suitable solution. Among the various form of radiative cooling devices, paint stands out as a practical application for radiative cooling. Hence, a passive daytime radiative cooling (PDRC) paint is developed using a polyurethane binder and zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF)‐8. ZIF‐8 is synthesized in an environmentally friendly manner using deionized water as the solvent, resulting in paint with a reflectance of 94.9%, emissivity of 94%, and cooling power of 113 W m−2. Temperature measurements reveal that the paint reduced ambient temperatures by an average of 5.7 °C, reaching up to 8.1 °C during the day. Additionally, with a self‐assembly monolayer coating, the PDRC surface exhibited super‐hydrophobicity and self‐cleaning capabilities. Therefore, the proposed ZIF‐8‐based PDRC paint offers sub‐room temperature cooling potential and is anticipated to reduce energy consumption for cooling, thereby alleviating environmental pollution in various applications, particularly in building exteriors.

Heterozygous mutations in the FOXG1 gene manifest as FOXG1 syndrome, a severe neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by structural brain anomalies, including agenesis of the corpus callosum, hippocampal reduction, and myelination delays. Despite the well-defined genetic basis of FOXG1 syndrome, therapeutic interventions targeting the underlying cause of the disorder are nonexistent. In this study, we explore the therapeutic potential of adeno-associated virus 9 (AAV9)-mediated delivery of the FOXG1 gene. Remarkably, intracerebroventricular injection of AAV9-FOXG1 to Foxg1 heterozygous mouse model at the postnatal stage rescues a wide range of brain pathologies. This includes the amelioration of corpus callosum deficiencies, the restoration of dentate gyrus morphology in the hippocampus, the normalization of oligodendrocyte lineage cell numbers, and the rectification of myelination anomalies. Our findings highlight the efficacy of AAV9-based gene therapy as a viable treatment strategy for FOXG1 syndrome and potentially other neurodevelopmental disorders with similar brain malformations, asserting its therapeutic relevance in postnatal stages.

ABSTRACTColorectal cancer (CRC) is the most common malignant tumor and one of the leading causes of cancer-related death worldwide. Oncogene KRAS is a commonly mutated in CRC and plays crucial roles in the colorectal tumorigenesis. Emerging evidence suggests that increased expression levels of c-Myc are critical for KRAS-mediated CRC progression. However, it is unclear exactly how c-Myc expression is regulated in CRC. In the present study, we found that blockade of 5/12-lipoxygenase (5/12-LO) or leukotriene B4 receptor (BLT2) markedly reduced c-Myc expression in KRAS-mutant LOVO cells, while the control COLO 320DM cells were not affected. When the 5/12-LO products LTB4 and 12(S)-HETE, ligands of BLT2, were added to LOVO cells, c-Myc expression levels were restored, together suggesting that ‘5/12-LO-BLT2 cascade’ regulates c-Myc expression in KRAS-mutant CRC cells. We also observed that ‘5/12-LO-BLT2’-mediated c-Myc upregulation contributes to cell proliferation by regulating the expression of cyclin D1 in LOVO cells. Moreover, ‘5/12-LO-BLT2-cMyc’ cascade regulates the expression of EMT-related proteins in KRAS-mutant CRC cells, and depletion of both c-Myc and BLT2 using siRNA significantly enhanced the level of E-cadherin and reduced the level of Vimentin in LOVO cells. Taken together, our findings suggest that the BLT2-linked cascade promotes KRAS-mutant CRC cell proliferation and migration through the elevated expression of c-Myc. Thus, our results suggest that BLT2 appears to be an effective therapeutic target for KRAS-mutant CRCs.

Several daytime radiative cooling materials involving various structures and composed using multilayer thin films, polymers, and nanoparticles have been fabricated and studied. However, their surface is of white or some other monotonous color because of the requirement for most of the incident sunlight to be reflected. A temperature-sensitive colored radiative cooling (TCRC) material that provides efficient cooling while preserving the aesthetic properties of the surface has been developed. The TCRC material is manufactured as a bilayer structure for efferent cooling applied on a colored radiative cooling emitter. The bottom layer reflects as much light as possible using polyvinylidene fluoride and alumina particles, and the top layer uses a thermochromic color pigment to display color. The optical properties of the TCRC material, in response to temperature changes, are evaluated and its efficient cooling ability is confirmed. The temperature cooling is confirmed for TCRC emitters of yellow, magenta, and blue colors, using an outdoor temperature measurement system, and it is experimentally confirmed that the TCRC emitters provide more cooling (by 1.75, 2.67, and 4.31 °C, respectively) than conventional paint of the same color.
