Recently, solar energy is expanding to combination of computing in real time by tracking the position of the sun to estimate the angle of inclination and make up freshly correcting a part of the solar radiation. Solar power is need that reliably linked technology to power generation system renewable energy in order to efficient power production that is difficult to output predict based on the position of the sun rise. In this paper, we analysis of prediction model for solar power generation to estimate the predictive value of solar power generation in the development of real-time weather data. Photovoltaic power generation input the correction factor such as temperature, module characteristics by the solar generator module and the location of the local angle of inclination to analyze the predictive power generation algorithm for the prediction calculation to predict the final generation. In addition, the proposed model in real-time national weather service forecast for medium-term and real-time observations used as input data to perform the short-term prediction models.

Recently, wind energy is expanding to combination of computing to forecast of wind power generation as well as intelligent of wind powerturbine. Wind power is rise and fall depending on weather conditions and difficult to predict the output for efficient power production. Wind power is need to reliably linked technology in order to efficient power generation. In this paper, distributed power generation forecasts to enhance the predicted and actual power generation in order to minimize the difference between the power of distributed power short-term prediction model is designed. The proposed model for prediction of short-term combining the physical models and statistical models were produced in a physical model of the predicted value predicted by the lattice points within the branch prediction to extract the value of a physical model by applying the estimated value of a statistical model for estimating power generation final gas phase produces a predicted value. Also, the proposed model in real-time National Weather Service forecast for medium-term and real-time observations used as input data to perform the short-term prediction models.

In recent years, many researchers and developers have been interested in renewable energy all over the world. Particularly, the development of wind power is being processed actively due to its high economic efficiency. A few years ago, Korean government has started the research for building a large-scale offshore wind farm in domestic west-southern area. Current domestic SCADA technology level for operating wind farm is very low compared with foreign SCADA technology level. In this paper, we found IT issues and solutions for developing SCADA system. Based on these solutions, we designed SCADA system for a large-scale offshore wind farm.

The customer load profile clustering method is used to make the TDLP (Typical Daily Load Profile) to estimate the quarter hourly load profile of non-AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) customers. This study examines how the repeated clustering method improves the ability to discriminate among the TDLPs of each cluster. The k-means algorithm is a well-known clustering technology in data mining. Repeated clustering groups the cluster into sub-clusters with the k-means algorithm and chooses the sub-cluster that has the maximum average error and repeats clustering until the final cluster count is satisfied.

Research of ubiquitous computing becomes more popular topic along with the rapid development of wireless technologies. Firstly, research and development on RFID focuses on manufacturing and retail sectors, because it can improve supply chain efficiency. But, it changes to USN (Ubiquitous Sensor Network) by adding a sensor and wireless network technologies on it. In this research, we design and implement the electric facility management service framework to collect real time information of electric facility using RFID/USN. In electric power industry, it is important the supply of energy must be guaranteed. So many power utilities control and supervise the transmission line to avoid power failures. Utilities install many types of sensor to monitor important facilities by wired network such as optical cable and PLC. In this research, we develop the sensor node which is small, easy to install and using wired network. We design the service framework for electric facility management to collect data using RFID tag, reader and wireless sensor nodes and implement the electric facility management service. In this paper, we propose a recognition technique of electric poles and wires which are drawn on a power distribution facility map. The map represents power supply facilities. Proposed technique is based on circularity and connectivity, and consists of four phases. At first, we extract a power distribution facility area from input image using threshold value. Secondly, we apply a thinning. At the third step, we extract candidate poles based on circularity. Finally, after electric wires between two branch points is recognized based on connectivity, candidate poles with at least a wire are confirmed to electric poles.

Due to the deregulation of power industry, power system has been changed in its composition with the introduction of markets and customer into the traditional industry. This gives many energy service providers (ESPs) opportunities for doing electric businesses with customer. But, they need looking for best practices in their business due to the competition among ESPs. Also the factor of customer satisfaction is very important for developing value-added services. Until now, there are little surveys on the customer opinion on electric related services. In this study, the customer responses are analyzed from the survey results. First, the 350 customer who have demand above 100kW are selected by sampling from about 120,000. The process of the survey in this study is composed of 3 stages for narrowing the best one from the possible services. And the results of quantitative research are described for service choices, preference of specific services and resources management/tariff. The final result shows that the services of outage information and power quality are the first choice for high demand customer.

The smart grid which is called the future power system should satisfy the consumers who want various choices and real-time energy price. The two-way information exchange platform for electricity consumers provides the infrastructure to transform today’s ESP(Energy Service Provider)-centered power system operation into consumer-oriented operation. It enables ESPs to provide their customers with a variety of services by communicating with various appliances in customer’s premises. In this paper, the portal-based platform architecture for the two-way information exchange and its implementation are described.

KEPCO has installed electronic power meters for customers who have relatively high annual power consumption and operated the AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) system that records the amount of power consumption every 15 minutes. To analyze the load of the distribution line using the data collected by the AMR system, this study suggested a method of generating a typical load profile based on the clustering method using the load data of customers. Currently, typical load profiles are usually generated by calculating the average power consumption as recorded every 15 minutes based on the load profiles of customers with the same contract code. Even though they share the same contract code, however, the load analysis has low accuracy because it often shows different load profiles. This study suggested a means of performing customer clustering and generating the typical load profile of each group using the k-means method as one of the clustering methods and 15-minute AMR data of customers sharing the same contract code.

Firstly, research and development on RFID focuses on manufacturing and retail sectors, because it can improve supply chain efficiency. But, now a variety of field is considered the next research area for Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). Although RFID is infancy, RFID technology has great potential in power industry to significantly reduce cost, and improve quality of power supply. To complement the limitation of RFID, we adopt the WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) technology. However, relevant experience is limited, the challenge will be to derive requirement from business practice and to determine whether it is possible or not. To explore this issue, we conduct a case study on implementing power facility management system using RFID/WSN in Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). As the wireless communication networks are distributed in the wide areas and the use of portable terminals is getting popular, the mobile computing technologies are being developed rapidly. Moreover, in most electricity power corporations, the GIS (Geographic Information System) database system had been established so as to connect repair works with topological information. Unfortunately, it is not connected with distribution mobile repair works based on mobile computing. In this study, we have developed the system which can track the location of repair vehicles moving at all times so as to dispatch the vehicles to the failed place quickly. And this system had realized modernization of mobile repair works. The information about power failure receipt and the system constitution, information about relevant facility could be utilized outdoor.

At first, we extract a power distribution facility area from input image using threshold value obtained by histogram analysis. Secondly, a thinned image is obtained by applying a thinning operator. At the third step, we extract candidate poles based on circularity which is measured in the search area around the branch points of thinned image. Finally, after electric wires between two branch points is recognized based on connectivity, candidate poles with at least a wire are confirmed to electric poles. The experimental study is performed on randomly sampled 30 power distribution facility map.
