The recent emergence of highly contagious respiratory disease and the underlying issues of worldwide air pollution jointly heighten the importance of the personal respirator. However, the incongruence between the dynamic environment and nonadaptive respirators imposes physiological and psychological adverse effects, which hinder the public dissemination of respirators. To address this issue, we introduce adaptive respiratory protection based on a dynamic air filter (DAF) driven by machine learning (ML) algorithms. The stretchable elastomer fiber membrane of the DAF affords immediate adjustment of filtration characteristics through active rescaling of the micropores by simple pneumatic control, enabling seamless and constructive transition of filtration characteristics. The resultant DAF-respirator (DAF-R), made possible by ML algorithms, successfully demonstrates real-time predictive adapting maneuvers, enabling personalizable and continuously optimized respiratory protection under changing circumstances.

Logistics had only been perceived as a supporting means or au xiliary of corporate activity, but is now surfacing as a priority sector for competitiveness in the infin ite competition of the global market. This study looks into the current status of logistics and set s forth the improvement tasks by analyzing the problems of the returned goods logistics. In Korea`s distribution and production field establishment of logistics information system and automation of logistics were greatly developed. But there is no characteristic and professionalism about hospital logistics, and distribution center is located in outside warehouse, logistics system is very important. Since hospital has human power to receive product, system is not as much required, but outside warehouse requires system for arrival from medicine and medical supplies wholesale dealer and vender, warehousing, storage, and automation facilities, and system for various works such as peaking instruction, classification, packing, cargo-working, delivery, order of medicine from hospital and non-medicine in hospital is essential. Therefore, This study is about development of automatic identification of slide which cannot be overlooked in efficiency of hospital logistics, establishment of database, and information interlocking between automatic storage system and outside warehouse.

Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) is a central regulator of chronic inflammatory diseases and plays a major role in the host immune system against tuberculosis (TB). TNF antagonists, infliximab and etanercept are effective in treating chronic inflammatory diseases by inhibiting TNF, but increase the risk of TB as a result of immunosuppression. Previous studies have shown that the risk of TB is greater in patients who received infliximab than in those who received etanercept and several hypotheses on the action mechanisms of the two agents have been presented in order to explain this difference in the risk of TB. As the clinical use of TNF antagonists increase, the incidence rate of TB may increase. Therefore, it is necessary that clinicians considering the use of TNF antagonists pay much attention to the prevention and control of TB and understand the mechanisms of action of the TNF antagonists. This case shows that etanercept treatment can be safely administered during the treatment of TB. In the future, additional studies will be needed to determine the safety of etanercept and the optimal time for the administration of etanercept during the TB treatment.

The effects of process parameters on the mechanical property and visual aspect of Y203 coating formed by plasma spraying were investigated. For the experiments, granular Y203 powders were plasma sprayed using plasma gun with external powder-feeding system. When an asymmetric spraying was introduced by one-side powder-feeding, bigger pores and more frequent black spots were found in the region formed in opposite side from powder feeding direction, where the droplets of relatively lower temperature and lower flying velocity impinged to form coating. The optimum conditions for highest Vickers hardness were found to be different from those for white visual aspect of the Y203 coatings. Among the process parameters such as Ar flow rate, H2 flow rate, 02 contents, spraying distance, spraying distance was known to be most important for the formation of black spots in Y203 coating. The black spots formed in Y203 coating are thought to have relationship with the breakdown of stoichiometry between Y and O during plasma spraying. Consequently, the processing route not to form black spots in Y203 coating is described.

Purpose Oxidative stress has been implicated in the pathogenesis of various diseases. Catalase is one of the main defense mechanisms against oxidative stress. To examine the possible relationship between oxidative stress, and gastric and hepatocellular carcinomas, HinfI restriction length polymorphism (RFLP) in the human catalase gene was assessed. Materials and methods The genotype and allele frequencies in the promoter region of the catalase gene were studied by PCR-RFLP in 108 Korean controls, 80 Korean gastric carcinoma (GC) and 106 Korean hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. Results No statistically significant differences were found in the genotypic distribution and allelic frequencies between the controls and both types of carcinoma patient. Conclusion To address the possible contribution of oxidative stresses to the pathogenesis of gastric and hepatocellular carcinomas, the associations between the catalase gene polymorphism and GC and HCC susceptibilities were studied. As a result, the catalase gene polymorphism was found not to be determinant of GC and HCC susceptibilities. Further studies are required on various other oxidative stress related genes to elucidate the mechanisms of GC and HCC.

Post-pregnancy osteoporosis is not a common disease and is hard to diagnosis because their specific situation is post-partum and lactation. It commonly occurs on lumbar spine within a few months after the birth of a patient’s first child and it could lead to be fracture after minor trauma. Although its etiology is not clear, it would not be of sufficient magnitude to cause fractures unless the woman already had a substantial decrease in bone mass. Also, it is rare to be combined with ankylosing spondylitis. Ankylosing spondylitis has a higher risk of osteoporosis and vertebral fracture which increased with the duration of disease. We report a case of post-pregnancy osteoporosis with multiple spinal compression fracture in association of ankylosing spondylitis.
