The authors report three cases of endometriosis of the rectus abdominis muscle, presenting as a mass of the abdominal wall associated with pain during menstruation in women with a history of cesarean section. Treatment consisted in wide surgical resection followed by prosthetic abdominal wall repair in one recurrent case. Abdominal wall endometriosis is a rare disease that can be explained by grafting of endometrial cells to the abdominal wall during laparotomy for pelvic surgery, particularly cesarean section. Isolation of the abdominal wall during cesarean section and irrigation of the abdominal wall at the end of the operation are two theoretical measures designed to prevent endometrial cell engraftment. When abdominal wall endometriosis occurs, only radical surgical resection can prevent recurrence.

Resume L’embolisation est proposee dans la prise en charge des myomes uterins, soit en preoperatoire pour faciliter l’exerese et diminuer les saignements, soit en traitement curatif comme alternative a la chirurgie. Cette methode parait seduisante a l’heure ou la medecine se veut plus conservatrice et non invasive mais pose le probleme de la fertilite ulterieure si elle est utilisee chez la femme en âge de procreer. A la suite d'un cas de grossesse survenue apres embolisation dans notre service, nous rapportons l’ensemble des cas de grossesse retrouves jusqu’alors dans la litterature, ainsi que les avantages et inconvenients de la technique.

Objectives: To analyze risk factors for pregnancy outcome among HIV-infected women before and after introduction of AZT prophylaxis in 1994. Study design: A prospective, two-center observational study conducted from 1 January 1985 to 31 December 1997. Patients: Pregnant HIV-infected women followed in one of the obstetrics units during the study period. Main outcome measures: pregnancy outcome (normal delivery, ectopic pregnancy, spontaneous abortion, voluntary termination of pregnancy (TOP) according to year of pregnancy, age at pregnancy professional status, marital status, ethnic origin, mode of contamination, stage of disease, partner’s human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) status and prior pregnancy. Results: One thousand one hundred and three pregnancies among 937 HIV-infected women were studied. Mean age of patients was 28.1±4.9 years. Pregnancy outcomes were distributed as follows: 473 normal deliveries, 589 TOP, 9 ectopic pregnancies and 32 spontaneous abortions. The gingival granular cell tumor (GGCT) of the newborn is a rare, benign tumor, most often observed in the canine area of the maxilla of female infants. The main histologic features are not controversial and involve the occurrence of sheets of granular cells and a prominent vascular component. Conversely, ultrastructural studies agree on limited features and give rise to different hypotheses of mesenchymal origin. S-100 immunoperoxidase investigation of one case shows that, unlike those of granular cell tumor (granular cell myoblastoma) granular cells of GGCT do not react positively for S-100 protein, thus suggesting that the GGCT and the granular cell myoblastoma have a different histogenesis. It confirms also the occurrence of smaller, isolated, spindled, nongranular S-100-positive cells of indeterminate nature, distributed at the periphery of some blood vessels.
