Abstract

Abstract We report measurements of the e + e − → B B ¯ $$ B\overline{B} $$ , B B ¯ ∗ $$ B{\overline{B}}^{\ast } $$ , and B ∗ B ¯ ∗ $$ {B}^{\ast }{\overline{B}}^{\ast } $$ cross sections at four energies, 10653, 10701, 10746 and 10805 MeV, using data collected by the Belle II experiment. We reconstruct one B meson in a large number of hadronic final states and use its momentum to identify the production process. In the first 2 – 5 MeV above B ∗ B ¯ ∗ $$ {B}^{\ast }{\overline{B}}^{\ast } $$ threshold, the e + e − → B ∗ B ¯ ∗ $$ {B}^{\ast }{\overline{B}}^{\ast } $$ cross section increases rapidly. This may indicate the presence of a pole close to the threshold.

Abstract

Abstract We present a study of Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 π 0 $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0{\pi}^0 $$ , Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 η $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0\eta $$ , and Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 η ′ $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0{\eta}^{\prime } $$ decays using the Belle and Belle II data samples, which have integrated luminosities of 980 fb −1 and 426 fb −1, respectively. We measure the following relative branching fractions B Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 π 0 / B Ξ c 0 → Ξ − π + = 0.48 ± 0.02 stat ± 0.03 syst , B Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 η / B Ξ c 0 → Ξ − π + = 0.11 ± 0.01 stat ± 0.01 syst , B Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 η ′ / B Ξ c 0 → Ξ − π + = 0.08 ± 0.02 stat ± 0.01 syst $$ {\displaystyle \begin{array}{c}\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0{\pi}^0\right)/\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right)=0.48\pm 0.02\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.03\left(\textrm{syst}\right),\\ {}\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0\eta \right)/\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right)=0.11\pm 0.01\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.01\left(\textrm{syst}\right),\\ {}\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0{\eta}^{\prime}\right)/\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right)=0.08\pm 0.02\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.01\left(\textrm{syst}\right)\end{array}} $$ for the first time, where the uncertainties are statistical (stat) and systematic (syst). By multiplying by the branching fraction of the normalization mode, B Ξ c 0 → Ξ − π + $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right) $$ , we obtain the following absolute branching fraction results B Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 π 0 = 6.9 ± 0.3 stat ± 0.5 syst ± 1.3 norm × 10 − 3 , B Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 η = 1.6 ± 0.2 stat ± 0.2 syst ± 0.3 norm × 10 − 3 , B Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 η ′ = 1.2 ± 0.3 stat ± 0.1 syst ± 0.2 norm × 10 − 3 , $$ {\displaystyle \begin{array}{c}\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0{\pi}^0\right)=\left(6.9\pm 0.3\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.5\left(\textrm{syst}\right)\pm 1.3\left(\operatorname{norm}\right)\right)\times {10}^{-3},\\ {}\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0\eta \right)=\left(1.6\pm 0.2\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.2\left(\textrm{syst}\right)\pm 0.3\left(\operatorname{norm}\right)\right)\times {10}^{-3},\\ {}\mathcal{B}\left({\varXi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0{\eta}^{\prime}\right)=\left(1.2\pm 0.3\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.1\left(\textrm{syst}\right)\pm 0.2\left(\operatorname{norm}\right)\right)\times {10}^{-3},\end{array}} $$ where the third uncertainties are from B Ξ c 0 → Ξ − π + $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right) $$ . The asymmetry parameter for Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 π 0 $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0{\pi}^0 $$ is measured to be α Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 π 0 = − 0.90 ± 0.15 stat ± 0.23 syst $$ \alpha \left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0{\pi}^0\right)=-0.90\pm 0.15\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.23\left(\textrm{syst}\right) $$ .

Abstract

Abstract We present the result of a search for the charged-lepton-flavor violating decay τ − → μ − μ + μ − using a 424 fb −1 sample of data recorded by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB e + e − collider. The selection of e + e − → τ + τ − events is based on an inclusive reconstruction of the non-signal tau decay, and on a boosted decision tree to suppress background. We observe one signal candidate, which is compatible with the expectation from background processes. We set a 90% confidence level upper limit of 1.9 × 10 −8 on the branching fraction of the τ − → μ − μ + μ − decay, which is the most stringent bound to date.

Abstract

Abstract We present a measurement of the ratio R μ = B τ − → μ − ν ¯ μ ν τ / B τ − → e − ν ¯ e ν τ $$ {R}_{\mu }=\mathcal{B}\left({\tau}^{-}\to {\mu}^{-}{\overline{\nu}}_{\mu }{\nu}_{\tau}\right)/\mathcal{B}\left({\tau}^{-}\to {e}^{-}{\overline{\nu}}_e{\nu}_{\tau}\right) $$ of branching fractions B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ of the τ lepton decaying to muons or electrons using data collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB e + e − collider. The sample has an integrated luminosity of 362 ± 2 fb −1 at a centre-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV. Using an optimised event selection, a binned maximum likelihood fit is performed using the momentum spectra of the electron and muon candidates. The result, R μ = 0.9675 ± 0.0007 ± 0.0036, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic, is the most precise to date. It provides a stringent test of the light-lepton universality, translating to a ratio of the couplings of the muon and electron to the W boson in τ decays of 0.9974 ± 0.0019, in agreement with the standard model expectation of unity.

Abstract

Abstract We present measurements of the branching fractions of eight B ¯ 0 $$ {\overline{B}}^0 $$ → D (*)+ K − K S ∗ 0 $$ {K}_{(S)}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ , B − → D (*)0 K − K S ∗ 0 $$ {K}_{(S)}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ decay channels. The results are based on data from SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions at the Υ(4S) resonance collected with the Belle II detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 362 fb −1. The event yields are extracted from fits to the distributions of the difference between expected and observed B meson energy, and are efficiency-corrected as a function of m(K − K S ∗ 0 $$ {K}_{(S)}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ ) and m(D (*) K S ∗ 0 $$ {K}_{(S)}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ ) in order to avoid dependence on the decay model. These results include the first observation of B ¯ 0 $$ {\overline{B}}^0 $$ → D + K − K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ , B − → D* 0 K − K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ , and B ¯ 0 $$ {\overline{B}}^0 $$ → D* + K − K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ decays and a significant improvement in the precision of the other channels compared to previous measurements. The helicity-angle distributions and the invariant mass distributions of the K − K S ∗ 0 $$ {K}_{(S)}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ systems are compatible with quasi-two-body decays via a resonant transition with spin-parity J P = 1− for the K − K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ systems and J P = 1+ for the K − K* 0 systems. We also present measurements of the branching fractions of four B ¯ 0 $$ {\overline{B}}^0 $$ → D (*)+ D s − $$ {D}_s^{-} $$ , B − → D (*)0 D s − $$ {D}_s^{-} $$ decay channels with a precision compatible to the current world averages.

Abstract

Abstract We present the first measurement of the branching fraction of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed (SCS) decay Λ c + $$ {\Lambda}_c^{+} $$ → pη′ with η′ → ηπ + π − , using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 981 fb −1, collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB e + e − asymmetric-energy collider. A significant Λ c + $$ {\Lambda}_c^{+} $$ → pη′ signal is observed for the first time with a signal significance of 5.4σ. The relative branching fraction with respect to the normalization mode Λ c + $$ {\Lambda}_c^{+} $$ → pK − π + is measured to be B Λ c + → pη ′ B Λ c + → pK − π + = 7.54 ± 1.32 ± 0.73 × 10 − 3 , $$ \frac{\mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p\eta^{\prime}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to {pK}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right)}=\left(7.54\pm 1.32\pm 0.73\right)\times {10}^{-3}, $$ where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Using the world-average value of B Λ c + → pK − π + $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to {pK}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right) $$ = (6.28 ± 0.32) × 10 −2, we obtain B Λ c + → pη ′ = 4.73 ± 0.82 ± 0.46 ± 0.24 × 10 − 4 , $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p\eta^{\prime}\right)=\left(4.73\pm 0.82\pm 0.46\pm 0.24\right)\times {10}^{-4}, $$ where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and from B Λ c + → pK − π + $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to {pK}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right) $$ , respectively.

Abstract

To determine the effects of leaf colour on gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence, two genotypes of Begonia semperflorens with green leaves or red leaves were compared. The red leaves showed a high accumulation of anthocyanins and high absorbance at 282 and 537 nm while the green leaves exhibited a higher net photosynthetic rate and lower thermal dissipation of light energy. It seems likely that anthocyanins in the vacuoles restricted the absorption of green light to the chloroplasts, leading to a decrease in the efficiency of excitation capture by open PS 2 centres, photochemical quenching and CO2 assimilation.

Abstract

We explored the regulation of microRNA-136-5p on gemcitabine resistance of pancreatic cancer (PCa) and further highlighted the crosstalk between microRNA-136-5p and ZNF32, so as to provide an effective theoretical basis for target treatment of PCa.MicroRNA-136-5p and ZNF32 levels in tumor specimens of 48 patients with PCa were examined by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method, and the interplay between microRNA-136-5p and clinicopathological parameters, as well as prognosis of those patients was also analyzed. Meanwhile, in gemcitabine-resistant PCa cell lines PANC-1 and CFPAC-1, microRNA-136-5p overexpression model was constructed, and cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8), transwell, as well as cell wound healing assays were carried out to assess the impact of microRNA-136-5p on PCa cell functions. Finally, Luciferase assay and recovery experiments were conducted to specify the precise underlying mechanism.qRT-PCR results revealed a significant low expression of microRNA-136-5p both in tumor tissues of PCa patients and in PCa cell lines compared to the normal control groups. In addition, microRNA-136-5p mimics markedly attenuated the proliferation and migration abilities of the gemcitabine-resistant PCa cell lines. The Luciferase assay verified certain binding sites between microRNA-136-5p and ZNF32, while qPCR results indicated a negative correlation between the two in PCa tissues. Moreover, recovery experiments demonstrated that ZNF32 overexpression reversed the inhibitory effect on the malignant progression of gemcitabine-resistant PCa cells induced by microRNA-136-5p.MicroRNA-136-5p can reduce the proliferation rate and metastasis ability of PCa cells via regulating ZNF32, and thus alleviates gemcitabine resistance in PCa cells.

Abstract

To determine how adipocyte determination and differentiation factor 1 (ADD1), a gene involved in the determination of pork quality, is regulated in Laiwu and Large pigs, we used TaqMan fluorescence quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (FQ-PCR) to detect differential expression in the longissimus muscle of Laiwu (fatty) and Large White (lean) pigs. In this study, the ADD1 and GAPDH cDNA sequences were cloned using a T-A cloning assay, and the clone sequences were consistent with those deposited in GenBank. Thus, the target fragment was successfully recombined into the vector, and its integrity was maintained. The standard curve and regression equation were established through the optimized FQ-PCR protocol. The standard curve of porcine ADD1 and GAPDH cDNA was determined, and its linear range extension could reach seven orders of magnitudes. The results showed that this method was used to quantify ADD1 expression in the longissimus muscle of two breeds of pig, and was found to be accurate, sensitive, and convenient. These results provide information regarding porcine ADD1 mRNA expression and the mechanism of adipocyte differentiation, and this study could help in the effort to meet the demands of consumers interested in the maintenance of health and prevention of obesity. Furthermore, it could lead to new approaches in the prevention and clinical treatment of this disease.

Abstract

To investigate the clinical feature and surgical procedures of gastric stump carcinoma (GSC) and to identify the prognostic factors which influence survival rate of GSC patients.Clinical data of 167 patients who underwent R0 resection for gastric stump carcinoma at Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital between January 1990 and December 2012 was collected. There were 144 male and 23 female cases. The clinicopathological features of GSC patients were compared between those who underwent initial surgery for benign disease (GSC-B group, 78 cases) and for gastric cancer (GSC-M group, 89 cases). The analysis of therapeutic methods and survival time were also performed.t-test was used to compare the quantitative data between two groups. Pearson χ(2) test was used to compare the various clinicopathological characteristics between the two groups. Kaplan-Meier method was used to analyze the survival rate. Multivariate survival analysis was based on the Cox proportional hazard model.Compared with GSC-M group, the interval time between initial gastrectomy and surgery in GSC-B group was longer ( (28.2±10.2) years vs. (10.8±1.0) years, t=15.902, P=0.001). There were 56 patients (71.8%) who received BillrothⅠ reconstruction in GSC-B group, and 49 patients (55.1%) who received BillrothⅡ reconstruction in GSC-M group, the difference of anastomosis method between the two groups was statistically significant (χ(2)=25.770, P=0.001). Compared with GSC-M group, the tumor of GSC-B group was usually located at the anastomotic site (χ(2)=6.975, P=0.031). The overall 1-, 3-, and 5-year survival rates of the 167 patients were 87%, 60%, and 41%. The 5-year survival rates for TNM stagesⅠ, Ⅱ, and Ⅲ were 65%, 43%, and 22%, respectively (P= 0.001). Multivariate analysis showed that small intestinal or esophageal infiltration (HR=1.957, 95%CI: 1.096 to 3.494, P=0.023), tumor location (HR=1.618, 95%CI: 1.104 to 2.372, P=0.014), and TNM stage (HR=2.307, 95%CI: 1.708 to 3.118, P=0.001) have independent effect on survival. The metastasis rates of perigastric lymph nodes, jejunum anastomosis and mesenteric lymph nodes were very high (56.3% and 65.2%, respectively).The GSC appears earlier in patients with gastrectomy for malignant disease than those with benign disease. Appropriate curative resection including residual lymph node dissection is very important to improve the prognosis. Small intestinal or esophageal infiltration, tumor location, and TNM stage have independent effect on survival.

Abstract

Chicken prolactin (PRL) is a physiological candidate gene for egg production. The objective of the current research was to investigate the association of polymorphisms in the chicken PRL promoter region with egg production. Genotyping of 177 individuals from White Leghorn, Yangshan, Taihe Silkies, White Rock, and Nongdahe breeds for 6 single nucleotide polymorphisms (C-2402T, C-2161G, T-2101G, C-2062G, T-2054A, and G-2040A) and 1 24-bp indel (insertion-deletion) at the site of -358 of the chicken PRL gene revealed large breed differences in allelic frequencies for all but the T-2101G and T-2054A polymorphisms. An F2 population produced from Nongdahe x Taihe Silkies chickens consisted of 374 hens, which were recorded for egg production traits and genotyped for the above 7 polymorphisms. Marker-trait association analysis indicated that the 24-bp indel was associated with egg production (P < 0.01) and that H3 (C C T C T G) was the most advantageous haplotype for egg production.

Abstract

Interleukin-4 receptors (IL-4Rs) are expressed on a wide variety of human cancer cells, and therefore it may be a good option to treat IL-4R-bearing tumors with IL-4-fusing immunotoxins. In this study, the gene encoding human interleukin-4 mutein cpIL-4(13D) was obtained through overlapping polymerase chain reaction. A chimeric immunotoxin was constructed by genetically fusing the mutein cpIL-4(13D) to a modified version of Pseudomonas exotoxin A (PE38KDEL) and was expressed in Escherichia coli AD494 (DE3). The expression level of the fusion protein was about 30% of the total bacterial protein assessed by SDS-PAGE analysis. After purification by affinity chromatography and anion exchange chromatography, the chimeric protein was tested for its cytotoxicity. Our data show that cpIL-4(13D)-PE38KDEL has improved cytotoxicity on IL-4R-bearing tumor cells in comparison with other IL-4-fusing immunotoxins and might be useful in treating tumors with a large number of IL-4Rs.

Abstract

This research focuses on identifying optimal evacuation routing plans in public transit networks during various extreme events in urban road networks. The public transit evacuation system is modeled by a time-expanded network, based on a dynamic network flow model, and aims to minimize the total evacuation clearance time. This model transforms the public transit evacuation scheduling problem into a mixed-integer linear program (MILP). Also, a heuristic TABU-based search algorithm is used to find a high-quality solution in a reasonable amount of time. Finally, a case study is conducted using the central road network of Changchun city in China. Many numerical experiments are implemented in CPLEX 9.0 and the results show that time-expanded networks can effectively represent transit evacuation dynamics and the heuristic TABU-based algorithm can make an appropriate trade-off between solving efficiency and accuracy. INTRODUCTION In general, emergency evacuation of urban areas has gained prominent attention from both practitioners and researchers in the last three decades in the world (Wolshon et al. 2005, An et al. 2008, Liu et al. 2006). Among available modes of transportation, the use of public transit in evacuation situations is not well studied or understood (Liu and Hu. 2008). The use of public transit during evacuation is more crucial and should be well studied in some developing countries such as in China, as the population of transit-dependent citizens is very large. In addition to people without vehicles, the indigent, the elderly, the infirm and tourists also rely on the public transit system for evacuation. Abstract

Interleukin-4 receptors (IL-4Rs) are expressed on a wide variety of human cancer cells, and therefore it may be a good option to treat IL-4R-bearing tumors with IL-4-fusing immunotoxins. In this study, the gene encoding human interleukin-4 mutein cpIL-4(13D) was obtained through overlapping polymerase chain reaction. A chimeric immunotoxin was constructed by genetically fusing the mutein cpIL-4(13D) to a modified version of Pseudomonas exotoxin A (PE38KDEL) and was expressed in Escherichia coli AD494 (DE3). The expression level of the fusion protein was about 30% of the total bacterial protein assessed by SDS-PAGE analysis. After purification by affinity chromatography and anion exchange chromatography, the chimeric protein was tested for its cytotoxicity. Our data show that cpIL-4(13D)-PE38KDEL has improved cytotoxicity on IL-4R-bearing tumor cells in comparison with other IL-4-fusing immunotoxins and might be useful in treating tumors with a large number of IL-4Rs.

Abstract

Peroxidase (Px) gene of rice-field eels (Monopterus albus) was successfully localized to the segments of two bivalents, 8q15-q26 and 11q32-q37 with digoxigenin labeled primed in situ labeling (PRINS) technique, which is utilized for localization of single copy gene of fish for the first time. Our results demonstrated the possibility of mapping genes in fish by the DNA probes of other species and PRINS technique.
