Introducción: la esofagitis necrosante aguda es una entidad rara. Se reconoce por el aspecto negro difuso del esófago a la endoscopia. Su incidencia e patogénesis se desconoce. Pacientes y métodos: se analizaron retrospectivamente 11 pacientes con esofagitis necrosante aguda desde el punto de vista de los datos clínicos, de laboratorio y endoscopicos en 2 años. Resultados: se analizaron las endoscopias realizadas a 3.976 pacientes, observándose esofagitis necrosante aguda en 11 pacientes. El estado nutricional era malo en 6 pacientes. La resolución completa de la esofagitis se observó en cuatro pacientes. Durante el seguimiento se observó una estenosis en un paciente y un nuevo episodio de esofagitis necrosante aguda en otro paciente. Siete pacientes fallecieron, pero esta elevada mortalidad parece deberse a las enfermedades de base y no es atribuible a las lesiones de la esofagitis necrosante. Conclusiones: la incidencia de esofagitis necrosante aguda en nuestra serie fue 0,28%. La esofagitis necrosante aguda tiene una elevada mortalidad.Background: acute esophageal necrosis has been considered a rare event. It is defined as the presence of diffuse dark pigmentation of the esophagus on upper endoscopy. Its incidence has not yet been established. The pathogenesis remains unknown. Patients and methods: a retrospective analysis of clinical, laboratory, endoscopic, and histological data, and of the clinical course of 11 patients with acute necrotizing esophagitis was carried out over a 2-year period. Results: among 3,976 patients who underwent upper endoscopy, 11 (0.28%) with acute esophageal necrosis were identified. Nutritional status was poor for 6 patients. Complete resolution of acute esophageal necrosis without further recurrence was observed in 4. One stricture appeared during follow-up and other patient developed new-onset acute esophageal necrosis. Seven patients died, but no death was directly related to acute esophageal necrosis. Conclusions: the incidence of acute esophageal necrosis in our series is 0.28%. Acute esophageal necrosis is associated with high mortality rates.

The detection of pre-invasive tumors prior to the appearance of advanced clinical symptoms will enhance the effect of medical intervention at the earliest stage and reduce premature cancer deaths. Tumor biomarkers detection represents a powerful alternative to taking invasive biopsies; hence, biosensing technology is emphasized. Cancer diagnostics have evolved from the macroscopic detection of malignant tumors to the facile assessment of tumor biomarkers using miniaturized detection devices, such as immunosensors. Innovative immunosensors have become the most eminent candidate for analyzing oncomarkers to meet the requirements of medical diagnostics. Hence the development of highly selective immunosensors for the sensitive detection of oncomarker paves new directions for personal and medical supervision. Graphene and its derivatives are emerging carbon materials employed in developing sensors, in view of their exceptional physicochemical properties that amplify the device's sensitivity. Therefore, this review was designed to present a comprehensive interpretation of the recently developed graphene-based electrochemical immunosensors for detecting broad-spectrum oncomarker carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). The article highlights the recent advances in signal amplification strategies accomplished utilizing graphene and its nanomaterials (2017 to mid-2022). Different electroanalytical techniques employed for CEA sensing have been discussed, and the sensor's performances are substantiated. The readers are also provided with significant statistical information on the reported immunosensors and their performance comparison: a technique used, working range, detection limit, real sample recoveries, reproducibility, and stability. Finally, the review concludes with the associated challenges and outlines the approach required to realize their successful translation into clinical settings.

We present here an assessment of in situ hyperspectral bio-optical variability in the Vaigat-Disko Bay and Godthabsfjord along the southwest coast of Greenland. The dataset consists of state-of-the-art profiler measurements of hyperspectral apparent and inherent optical properties of water complemented by traditional observations of Secchi disk and Forel Ule scale in the context of ocean color. Water samples were collected and analyzed for concentration of optically active constituents (OACs). Near-surface observations of hydrographic parameters revealed three different water masses in the Bay: meltwater plume, frontal zone, and Atlantic water mass. Underwater spectral light availability reveals three different spectral types. Low salinity, increased temperature, deep euphotic depths, and case-1 water type remote sensing reflectance spectra with tabletop peaks in the 400–500 nm wavelength range characterize the glacial meltwater plume in the Vaigat-Disko Bay. The conservative relationship between salinity and chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM) commonly observed in estuarine and shelf seas is weaker in the Godthabsfjord and reverses in the Vaigat-Disko Bay. Efficiency of machine learning techniques such as cluster analysis is tested in delineating water masses in the bay w.r.t. hydrographic and bio-optical parameters. Tests of optical closure yield low root mean square error at longer wavelengths. The study provides strong evidence that despite similar geographic setting, fjord ecosystems exhibit contrasting bio-optical properties which necessitate fjord-specific investigations.

Estima-se que hoje existam cerca de 500 mil hectares de palma forrageira no Nordeste do Brasil. O Presente estudo foi realizado com o objetivo de incentivar o consumo e caracterizar o fruto da palma in natura do Sertão Pernambucano. Foram analisados os teores de umidade, ferro, minerais totais (solúveis e insolúveis), pectina, fibras, gordura, açúcares redutores em glicose e não-redutores em sacarose e realizadas medidas físicas (pesagem, densidade, diâmetro, largura e teor de sólidos solúveis). A polpa apresentou peso médio de 108,693g, extensão de 51,058 mm, largura média de 87,144 mm, densidade de 0,9644 cm³, sólidos solúveis de 13,0 °Brix; 80,45% de umidade, 0,024% de ferro, 0,4394% de cinzas totais, 0,0369% de cinzas solúveis e 0,4025% de cinzas insolúveis, 0,1485% de gordura e 7,263% de açúcares redutores em glicose.
