Abstract: Abstract We report multi-differential measurements of strange hadron production ranging from mid- to target-rapidity in Au+Au collisions at a center-of-momentum energy per nucleon pair of s NN $$ \sqrt{s_{\textrm{NN}}} $$ = 3 GeV with the STAR experiment at RHIC. K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ meson and Λ hyperon yields are measured via their weak decay channels. Collision centrality and rapidity dependences of the transverse momentum spectra and particle ratios are presented. Particle mass and centrality dependence of the average transverse momenta of Λ and K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ are compared with other strange particles, providing evidence of the development of hadronic rescattering in such collisions. The 4π yields of each of these strange hadrons show a consistent centrality dependence. Discussions on radial flow, the strange hadron production mechanism, and properties of the medium created in such collisions are presented together with results from hadronic transport and thermal model calculations.

Abstract: The chiral magnetic effect (CME) is a phenomenon that arises from the QCD anomaly in the presence of an external magnetic field. The experimental search for its evidence has been one of the key goals of the physics program of the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider. The STAR Collaboration has previously presented the results of a blind analysis of isobar collisions (_{44}^{96}Ru+_{44}^{96}Ru, _{40}^{96}Zr+_{40}^{96}Zr) in the search for the CME. The isobar ratio (Y) of CME-sensitive observable, charge separation scaled by elliptic anisotropy, is close to but systematically larger than the inverse multiplicity ratio, the naive background baseline. This indicates the potential existence of a CME signal and the presence of remaining nonflow background due to two- and three-particle correlations, which are different between the isobars. In this postblind analysis, we estimate the contributions from those nonflow correlations as a background baseline to Y, utilizing the isobar data as well as Heavy Ion Jet Interaction Generator simulations. This baseline is found consistent with the isobar ratio measurement, and an upper limit of 10% at 95% confidence level is extracted for the CME fraction in the charge separation measurement in isobar collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV.

Abstract: Abstract We report a new measurement of the production of electrons from open heavy-flavor hadron decays (HFEs) at mid-rapidity (|y| < 0.7) in Au+Au collisions at s NN $$ \sqrt{s_{\textrm{NN}}} $$ = 200 GeV. Invariant yields of HFEs are measured for the transverse momentum range of 3.5 < p T < 9 GeV/c in various configurations of the collision geometry. The HFE yields in head-on Au+Au collisions are suppressed by approximately a factor of 2 compared to that in p + p collisions scaled by the average number of binary collisions, indicating strong interactions between heavy quarks and the hot and dense medium created in heavy-ion collisions. Comparison of these results with models provides additional tests of theoretical calculations of heavy quark energy loss in the quark-gluon plasma.

4. The Formation Rate and Luminosity Function of Fast Radio Bursts

Abstract: Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are millisecond-duration flashes with unknown origins. Their formation rate is crucial for unveiling physical origins. However, the luminosity and formation rate are degenerate when directly fitting the redshift distribution of FRBs. In contrast to previous forward-fitting methods, we use Lynden-Bell’s c ^− method to derive the luminosity function and formation rate of FRBs without any assumptions. Using the nonrepeating FRBs from the first Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment FRB catalog, we find a relatively strong luminosity evolution, and luminosity function can be fitted by a broken power-law model with a break at 1.33 × 10 ^41 erg s ^−1 . The formation rate declines rapidly as (1 + z ) ^−4.9±0.3 with a local rate of 1.13 × 10 ^4 Gpc ^−3 yr ^−1 . This monotonic decrease is similar to the rate of short gamma-ray bursts. After comparing this function with the star formation rate and stellar mass density, we conclude that the old populations, including neutron stars and black holes, are closely related to the origins of FRBs.

5. Influence of Full and Symmetrical Domains on the Numerical Flow around a SUBOFF Submarine Model using OpenFOAM

Abstract: In this research, we consider the influence of two kinds of domain on the numerical flow around a submarine model. A fully appended SUBOFF submarine model was used, and the structure and characteristics of the flow were investigated under a full domain and a symmetrical domain arrangement. The numerical simulation was carried out using the OpenFOAM software, and the flow was numerically modelled as single-phase and incompressible. The SST k-ω turbulence model was used in both domains, together with an insensitive Spalding wall function to represent the boundary layer near the wall. The results showed that simulations in both the full and symmetrical domains could accurately predict the total resistance. Compared to the symmetrical domain, the resistance value obtained with the full domain was more precise; the symmetrical domain under coarse grid conditions had an error value of 1.34%, whereas the full domain using the same grid size had an error value of 0.6%. Hence, the full domain was superior in terms of predicting the resistance with a coarse grid. Next, the pressure coefficient comparison at the leading edge of the rudder was calculated, where = 0.92, and the symmetric domain was found to have a value of 0.0747 whereas the full domain had a value of 0.236. Compared with the results from experiment (=0.302), the symmetric domain appears to give an underestimate for the pressure distribution at this position. In addition, the flow structures and properties in both domains differ, particularly in terms of the vortical structures generated by the sail and rudders. The simulation results for the full domain reveal that the flow around the SUBOFF model is asymmetric. The full domain was able to capture the flow structures in more detail than the symmetrical domain, and represented the velocity distribution at the propeller plane better. As a result, the full domain must be considered when carrying out propeller analysis and self-propulsion simulations.

Abstract: Abstract Partons traversing the strongly interacting medium produced in heavy-ion collisions are expected to lose energy depending on their color charge and mass. We measure the nuclear modification factors for charm- and bottom-decay electrons, defined as the ratio of yields, divided by the number of binary nucleon–nucleon collisions, in $$\sqrt{s_{\textrm{NN}}}=200$$ s NN = 200 GeV Au+Au collisions to p+p collisions ( $$R_{\textrm{AA}}$$ R AA ), or in central to peripheral Au+Au collisions ( $$R_{\textrm{CP}}$$ R CP ). We find the bottom-decay electron $$R_{\textrm{AA}}$$ R AA and $$R_{\textrm{CP}}$$ R CP to be significantly higher than those of charm-decay electrons. Model calculations including mass-dependent parton energy loss in a strongly coupled medium are consistent with the measured data. These observations provide evidence of mass ordering of charm and bottom quark energy loss when traversing through the strongly coupled medium created in heavy-ion collisions.

Abstract: The deconfined quark-gluon plasma (QGP) created in relativistic heavy-ion collisions enables the exploration of the fundamental properties of matter under extreme conditions. Noncentral collisions can produce strong magnetic fields on the order of 10^{18} G, which offers a probe into the electrical conductivity of the QGP. In particular, quarks and antiquarks carry opposite charges and receive contrary electromagnetic forces that alter their momenta. This phenomenon can be manifested in the collective motion of final-state particles, specifically in the rapidity-odd directed flow, denoted as v_{1}(y). Here, we present the charge-dependent measurements of dv_{1}/dy near midrapidities for π^{±}, K^{±}, and p(p[over ¯]) in Au+Au and isobar (_{44}^{96}Ru+_{44}^{96}Ru and _{40}^{96}Zr+_{40}^{96}Zr) collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV, and in Au+Au collisions at 27 GeV, recorded by the STAR detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The combined dependence of the v_{1} signal on collision system, particle species, and collision centrality can be qualitatively and semiquantitatively understood as several effects on constituent quarks. While the results in central events can be explained by the u and d quarks transported from initial-state nuclei, those in peripheral events reveal the impacts of the electromagnetic field on the QGP. Our data put valuable constraints on the electrical conductivity of the QGP in theoretical calculations.

Abstract: Abstract We perform simulation study for a 10-kg $$^{100}$$ 100 Mo-based bolometeric demonstration experiment for neutrinoless double-beta decay ( $$0\nu \beta \beta $$ 0 ν β β ) search at China JinPing underground Laboratory (CJPL). Cosmogenic production of radionuclides in $$^{100}$$ 100 Mo-enriched lithium molybdate crystals and copper components of the detector system are studied using Geant4 toolkit based on the simulated cosmic ray data from the CRY library. Background energy spectra of the cosmogenic radionuclides including $$^{56}$$ 56 Co, $$^{82}$$ 82 Rb and $$^{88}$$ 88 Y which are harmful for the $$^{100}$$ 100 Mo-based $$0\nu \beta \beta $$ 0 ν β β experiment are investigated. We then evaluate the total cosmogenic background level in the $$^{100}$$ 100 Mo $$0\nu \beta \beta $$ 0 ν β β search energy region of interest (ROI) for the demonstration experiment. After one year of cooling down underground, the residual background contribution is found to be 1.8 $$\times $$ × 10 $$^{-6}$$ - 6 cts/kg/keV/yr and 3.3 $$\times $$ × 10 $$^{-4}$$ - 4 cts/kg/keV/yr from crystals and copper components, respectively. Furthermore, underground cosmogenic activation of copper and lithium molybdate crystal is calculated based on the simulation spectra of neutron and proton in CJPL. The underground cosmogenic background is found to be negligible in the ROI.

Abstract: Abstract We report on the measurement of the Central Exclusive Production of charged particle pairs h + h − (h = π, K, p) with the STAR detector at RHIC in proton-proton collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 200 GeV. The charged particle pairs produced in the reaction pp → p′ + h + h − + p′ are reconstructed from the tracks in the central detector and identified using the specific energy loss and the time of flight method, while the forward-scattered protons are measured in the Roman Pot system. Exclusivity of the event is guaranteed by requiring the transverse momentum balance of all four final-state particles. Differential cross sections are measured as functions of observables related to the central hadronic final state and to the forward-scattered protons. They are measured in a fiducial region corresponding to the acceptance of the STAR detector and determined by the central particles’ transverse momenta and pseudorapidities as well as by the forward-scattered protons’ momenta. This fiducial region roughly corresponds to the square of the four-momentum transfers at the proton vertices in the range 0.04 GeV2 < −t 1 , −t 2 < 0.2 GeV2, invariant masses of the charged particle pairs up to a few GeV and pseudorapidities of the centrally-produced hadrons in the range |η| < 0.7. The measured cross sections are compared to phenomenological predictions based on the Double Pomeron Exchange (DPE) model. Structures observed in the mass spectra of π + π − and K + K − pairs are consistent with the DPE model, while angular distributions of pions suggest a dominant spin-0 contribution to π + π − production. For π + π − production, the fiducial cross section is extrapolated to the Lorentz-invariant region, which allows decomposition of the invariant mass spectrum into continuum and resonant contributions. The extrapolated cross section is well described by the continuum production and at least three resonances, the f 0(980), f 2(1270) and f 0(1500), with a possible small contribution from the f 0(1370). Fits to the extrapolated differential cross section as a function of t 1 and t 2 enable extraction of the exponential slope parameters in several bins of the invariant mass of π + π − pairs. These parameters are sensitive to the size of the interaction region.

11. Impedance optimization and measurements of the injection stripline kicker

Abstract: Stripline kickers are commonly used for on-axis injection in the low emittance rings. The beam coupling impedances of the kickers normally show large contributions to the total impedance budget. In the High Energy Photon Source, the necessity of the short pulse bottom width (less than 10 ns) and strong deflection field requires the kicker to have a short length and a small gap between the electrodes, respectively. A new five-cell stripline kicker is proposed in order to save longitudinal space as well as to reduce the beam coupling impedance. Comprehensive studies have been undertaken to characterize the impedance of the stripline kicker. The beam coupling impedance and heat load dissipation on the kicker due to the beam passage are studied numerically. Strategies to further reduce the impedance are discussed. In addition, impedance bench measurements are launched to identify the impedance of the kicker experimentally. The longitudinal beam coupling impedance is measured with different terminations by using coaxial wire method. A satisfactory agreement has been reached between the numerical predictions and the measurements. A novel fasten block design with ceramic is proposed for the wire stretching and the center holding of the inner conductor in a small beam pipe.

12. Beam Energy Dependence of Hanbury-Brown-Twiss Radii from a Blast-Wave Model

Abstract: The beam energy dependence of correlation lengths (the Hanbury-Brown-Twiss radii) is calculated by using a blast-wave model and the results are comparable with those from RHIC-STAR beam energy scan data as well as the LHC-ALICE measurements. A set of parameters for the blast-wave model as a function of beam energy under study are obtained by fit to the HBT radii at each energy point. The transverse momentum dependence of HBT radii is presented with the extracted parameters for Au+Au collision at sNN = 200 GeV and for Pb+Pb collisions at 2.76 TeV. From our study one can learn that particle emission duration cannot be ignored while calculating the HBT radii with the same parameters. And tuning kinetic freeze-out temperature in a range will result in system lifetime changing in the reverse direction as it is found in RHIC-STAR experiment measurements.

Abstract: The particle production of Kaon and Λ is studied in nucleus-nucleus collisions at relativistic energy based on a chemical equilibrium blast-wave model. The transverse momentum spectra of Kaon and Λ at the kinetic freeze-out stage from our model are in good agreement with the experimental results. The kinetic freeze-out parameters of temperature Tkin and radial flow parameter ρ0 are presented for the FOPI, RHIC, and LHC energies. And the resonance decay effect is also discussed. The systematic study for beam energy dependence of the strangeness particle production will help us to better understand the properties of the matter created in heavy-ion collisions at the kinetic freeze-out stage.

Abstract: An undulator is a critical component to produce synchrotron radiation and a free electron laser. When a Bessel light beam carrying the orbit angular momentum copropagates with an electron beam bunch, a net transverse deflection force will be subjected to the latter one. As a result of dephasing effect, the deflection force will oscillate and act as an undulator. For such a laser based undulator, the period length can reach submillimeter level, which will greatly reduce the electron energy for the required x-ray production.

Abstract: This paper aims at determining the mechanical properties such as Poisson ratio, biaxial modulus, and residual stress of polymer membranes using the bulge test and fringe projection. Under this idea, a bulge test apparatus has been developed for robust usage, under the room temperature, in industrial environments that are usually noisy and full of all kinds of vibrations. A setup of the bulge test, consisting of single chips and digital on-off valves, was used to achieve automatic precision control of pressure application to gas chamber with a circular polyimide (PI) test film fixed on the opening of it. A deformed image was then obtained via fringe projections with a series of optical apparatuses, and a 3D membrane deformation distribution was further achieved from this deformed image by some image processes that are chiefly through wavelet transformation and phase expansion. With the measurements of maximum membrane deformation versus applied pressure and given the Young’s modulus of test membrane, we could further calculate the Poisson ration (and then biaxial modulus) and residual stress of the film. Also, the measurements were validated to be highly accurate by comparison with a finite element analysis.

Abstract: Free-electron lasers (FELs) are fourth-generation light sources that deliver extremely high intensity, ultrashort light pulses over a broad wavelength range from far-infrared to hard x ray. FELs based on the self-amplified spontaneous emission principle have been successfully operated with ultrahigh brightness and a broad wavelengths tuning range with good transverse coherence but poor temporal coherence. In contrast, the laser-seeded FELs have provided full coherence but at selected central wavelengths, usually the harmonics of the laser seeds, with relatively narrower tuning range. We report the experimental demonstration of a high-gain harmonic-generation (HGHG) FEL that is continuously tunable over a wide range using the combination of optical parametrical amplification, variable-gap undulator, and harmonic selection, where the temporal coherence is preserved as confirmed with the Michelson interferometry. In order to achieve higher photon energies, the first try of cascaded HGHG with a fresh-bunch technique is also made at the Shanghai Deep Ultraviolet Free-electron Laser test facility.

Abstract: Background: Post radiation nasopharyngeal necrosis (PRNN) invading the internal carotid artery (ICA) contributes to the death of 69.2–72.7% of PRNN patients. ICA occlusion is an effective treatment to avoid fatal bleeding, while some patients are intolerant. We present a novel method that allows for these patients without interrupting blood flow through the ICA. Methodology: This study enrolled patients with PRNN-invaded ICA who were not suitable for ICA occlusion from April 2020 to November 2022. ICA stent pretreatment was performed in the 36 patients and followed the endoscopic nasopharyngectomy (ENPG) or conservative treatment for PRNN. We report the survival outcome and incidence of complications after stent implantation and compare the survival outcomes of ENPG and conservative treatment for PRNN followed by stent implantation. Results: ICA stent pretreatment was performed in the 36 enrolled patients, among which 14 underwent ENPG, and 22 received conservative treatment. 27.8% patients died after a median follow-up of 15 months. The Kaplan-Meier estimates of overall survival were higher in the ENPG group than in the conservative treatment group. Karnofsky performance status (KPS) was significantly higher in the ENPG group than in the non-ENPG group. Conclusions: The innovative application of ICA stents is a promising treatment to improve outcomes in patients with PRNN invading the ICA who are unsuitable for ICA embolization, especially when followed by endoscopic surgery. However, methods to avoid postoperative cerebral ischemia and nasopharyngeal hemorrhage still require further study.

Uniaxial tension tests of an Sn–3.0Ag–0.5Cu (SAC305) solders and coupled multifields fatigue experiments were performed to verify the accuracy, applicability and validity by the modified constitutive model and fatigue damage model under coupled ETM fields. Based on the modified constitutive model and fatigue damage model, a hybrid method, including current, temperature and mechanics parameters, was proposed for the FLP of the LFS joints, which was demonstrated to be able to predict the results well. A hybrid method provides an idea for investigating the fatigue life of lead-free solder joints in coupled fields.

Abstract: In the DIMOSIC (DIfferent MOdels, Same Initial Conditions) project, forecasts from different global medium-range forecast models have been created based on the same initial conditions. The dataset consists of 10-day deterministic forecasts from seven models and includes 122 forecast dates spanning one calendar year. All forecasts are initialized from the same ECMWF operational analyses to minimize the differences due to initialization. The models are run at or near their respective operational resolutions to explore similarities and differences between operational global forecast models. The main aims of this study are: (1) evaluate the forecast skill and how it depends on model formulation, (2) assess systematic differences and errors at short lead times, (3) compare multi-model ensemble spread to model uncertainty schemes, and (4) identify models that generate similar solutions. Our results show that all models in this study are capable of producing high-quality forecasts given a high-quality analysis. But at the same time we find a large variety in model biases, both in terms of temperature errors and precipitation. We are able to identify models whose forecasts are more similar to each other than they are to those of other systems, due to the use of similar model physics packages. However, in terms of multi-model ensemble spread, our results also demonstrate that forecast sensitivities to different model formulations skill are substantial. We therefore believe that the diversity in model design that stems from parallel development efforts at global modeling centers around the world remains valuable for future progress in the numerical weather prediction community.

Abstract: This study addressed the characteristics of electrolyte–insulator–semiconductor (EIS) pH sensors with array wells and sensing membrane stacks of 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES)/SiO2. The arrays of square wells were fabricated by nanoimprint lithography (NIL) and investigated using an atomic force microscope (AFM). The surface chemical properties of molecular APTES on SiO2 were investigated by water contact angle (WCA) studies and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The sensitivity, hysteresis, and drift of EIS sensors were studied. All of the sensing properties were greatly enhanced by using the techniques we propose. With these improvements, high-performance sensors can be fabricated for future biochemical applications.

Abstract: Needle-like metallic particles have been suggested to explain a wide variety of astrophysical phenomena, ranging from the mid-infrared interstellar extinction to the thermalization of starlight to generate the cosmic microwave background. These suggestions rely on the amplitude and the wavelength dependence of the absorption cross sections of metallic needles. On the absence of an exact solution to the absorption properties of metallic needles, their absorption cross sections are often derived from the antenna approximation. However, it is shown here that the antenna approximation is not an appropriate representation since it violates the Kramers-Kronig relation. Stimulated by the recent discovery of iron whiskers in asteroid Itokawa and graphite whiskers in carbonaceous chondrites, we call for rigorous calculations of the absorption cross sections of metallic needle-like particles, presumably with the discrete dipole approximation. We also call for experimental studies of the formation and growth mechanisms of metallic needle-like particles as well as experimental measurements of the absorption cross sections of metallic needles of various aspect ratios over a wide wavelength range to bound theoretical calculations., 5 pages, 1 figure; accepted for publication in MNRAS

Abstract: The STAR Collaboration reports measurements of back-to-back azimuthal correlations of di-π^{0}s produced at forward pseudorapidities (2.6η4.0) in p+p, p+Al, and p+Au collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 200 GeV. We observe a clear suppression of the correlated yields of back-to-back π^{0} pairs in p+Al and p+Au collisions compared to the p+p data. The observed suppression of back-to-back pairs as a function of transverse momentum suggests nonlinear gluon dynamics arising at high parton densities. The larger suppression found in p+Au relative to p+Al collisions exhibits a dependence of the saturation scale Q_{s}^{2} on the mass number A. A linear scaling of the suppression with A^{1/3} is observed with a slope of -0.09±0.01.

Abstract: We report cumulants of the proton multiplicity distribution from dedicated fixed-target Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=3.0 GeV, measured by the STAR experiment in the kinematic acceptance of rapidity (y) and transverse momentum (p_{T}) within -0.5y0 and 0.4p_{T}2.0 GeV/c. In the most central 0%-5% collisions, a proton cumulant ratio is measured to be C_{4}/C_{2}=-0.85±0.09 (stat)±0.82 (syst), which is 2σ below the Poisson baseline with respect to both the statistical and systematic uncertainties. The hadronic transport UrQMD model reproduces our C_{4}/C_{2} in the measured acceptance. Compared to higher energy results and the transport model calculations, the suppression in C_{4}/C_{2} is consistent with fluctuations driven by baryon number conservation and indicates an energy regime dominated by hadronic interactions. These data imply that the QCD critical region, if created in heavy-ion collisions, could only exist at energies higher than 3 GeV.

Abstract: We report precision measurements of hypernuclei _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H lifetimes obtained from Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=3.0 GeV and 7.2 GeV collected by the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, and the first measurement of _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H midrapidity yields in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=3.0 GeV. _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H, being the two simplest bound states composed of hyperons and nucleons, are cornerstones in the field of hypernuclear physics. Their lifetimes are measured to be 221±15(stat)±19(syst) ps for _{Λ}^{3}H and 218±6(stat)±13(syst) ps for _{Λ}^{4}H. The p_{T}-integrated yields of _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H are presented in different centrality and rapidity intervals. It is observed that the shape of the rapidity distribution of _{Λ}^{4}H is different for 0%-10% and 10%-50% centrality collisions. Thermal model calculations, using the canonical ensemble for strangeness, describes the _{Λ}^{3}H yield well, while underestimating the _{Λ}^{4}H yield. Transport models, combining baryonic mean-field and coalescence (jam) or utilizing dynamical cluster formation via baryonic interactions (phqmd) for light nuclei and hypernuclei production, approximately describe the measured _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H yields. Our measurements provide means to precisely assess our understanding of the fundamental baryonic interactions with strange quarks, which can impact our understanding of more complicated systems involving hyperons, such as the interior of neutron stars or exotic hypernuclei.

The measurements are fully corrected for detector effects, and reported differentially in both the jet transverse momentum and jet radius parameter. We compare the measurements to established leading-order Monte Carlo event generators and find that STAR-tuned pythia-6 reproduces the data, while LHC tunes of pythia-8 and herwig-7 do not agree with the data, providing further constraints on parameter tuning. Finally, we observe that softdrop grooming, for which the contribution of wide-angle nonperturbative radiation is suppressed, shifts the jet mass distributions into closer agreement with the partonic jet mass as determined by both pythia-8 and a next-to-leading-logarithmic accuracy perturbative QCD calculation. These measurements complement recent LHC measurements in a different kinematic region, as well as establish a baseline for future jet mass measurements in heavy-ion collisions at RHIC.

The Cn and κn are presented as a function of collision energy, centrality and kinematic acceptance in rapidity, y, and transverse momentum, pT. The data were taken during the first phase of the Beam Energy Scan (BES) program (2010-2017) at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) facility. Abstract: The chiral magnetic effect (CME) refers to charge separation along a strong magnetic field due to imbalanced chirality of quarks in local parity and charge-parity violating domains in quantum chromodynamics. The experimental measurement of the charge separation is made difficult by the presence of a major background from elliptic azimuthal anisotropy. This background and the CME signal have different sensitivities to the spectator and participant planes, and could thus be determined by measurements with respect to these planes. We report such measurements in Au+Au collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 200 GeV at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider. It is found that the charge separation, with the flow background removed, is consistent with zero in peripheral (large impact parameter) collisions. Some indication of finite CME signals is seen in midcentral (intermediate impact parameter) collisions. Significant residual background effects may, however, still be present.

Transverse momentum (pT) dependence of flow coefficients (v2, v3, and v4) is presented for minimum bias collisions and three different centrality intervals. Number of constituent quark scaling of the measured flow coefficients in U+U collisions is discussed. We also present the ratio of vn scaled by the participant eccentricity (ɛn2) to explore system size dependence and collectivity in U+U collisions. The magnitude of v2/ɛ2 is found to be smaller in U+U collisions than that in central Au+Au collisions contradicting naive eccentricity scaling. Furthermore, the ratios between various flow harmonics (v3/v23/2, v4/v24/2) are studied and compared with hydrodynamic and transport model calculations.

Abstract: The complete coding sequences of common tobacco cadmium resistance protein 2 and metal tolerance protein 4 genes were amplified by RT-PCR. The tobacco cadmium resistance protein 2 gene encodes a protein of 192 amino acids which shares high identity with the cadmium resistance protein 2 of four species—nicotiana tomentosiformis (99%), wood tobacco (97%), capsicum annuum (90%) and potato (86%). The tobacco metal tolerance protein 4 gene encodes a protein of 415 amino acids which shares high identity with the metal tolerance protein 4 of six species—nicotiana tomentosiformis (90%), wood tobacco (90%), lycopersicon esculentum (84%), potato (84%), lycopersicon pennellii (83%) and capsicum annuum (82%). Prediction of transmembrane helices showed that cadmium resistance protein 2 and metal tolerance protein 4 might be two transmembrane proteins. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the common tobacco cadmium resistance protein 2 and metal tolerance protein 4 genes both have a closer genetic relationship with the wood tobacco cadmium resistance protein 2 and metal tolerance protein 4 genes. Computer-assisted analysis showed that cadmium resistance protein 2 gene is structured in 4 exons and 3 introns and metal tolerance protein 4 gene consists of 7 exons and 6 introns. The gene expression profile analysis indicated that the common tobacco cadmium resistance protein 2 and metal tolerance protein 4 genes were highly expressed in root.

48. Strip-line kicker and fast pulser R&D for the HEPS on-axis injection system

Abstract: The HEPS plans to adopt on-axis injection scheme because the dynamic aperture of machine is not large enough for off-axis injection for its baseline 7BA lattice design. A couple sets of strip-line kicker and fast pulser of ± 15 kV amplitude, 15 ns pulse bottom width are needed for bunch spacing of 10 ns to minimize perturbation on adjacent bunches. To achieve these requirement, a multifaceted R&D program including the strip-line kicker and HV pulser, was initiated last 2 years. So far, the prototype development of a 750 mm long strip-line kicker and a DSRD pulser was completed and the preliminary test results show they can meet the baseline requirement of the HEPS.

Abstract: This study focuses on the characteristics of polycrystalline-silicon (poly-Si) thin-film transistors (TFTs) with n-type line-array doping channels manufactured by nanoimprint lithography. Array doping patterns with a line width/space of approximately ~400–800 nm were fabricated by ion implantation through a poly(methyl methacrylate) mask patterned with the nanoimprint technology. The proposed TFTs show a lower threshold voltage, higher ON/OFF ratio, better subthreshold swing, higher field-effect mobility, lower gate-induced drain leakage, and reduced kink-effect compared with the conventional single-channel ones. The high implantation dosage effects of line-array doping were also investigated. This method can be applied to fabricate high-performance poly-Si TFTs in the future.
