1. Udder health outcomes in Irish herds participating in CellCheck dry cow consults

Abstract: ABSTRACT: The CellCheck dry cow consult (DCC) was developed by the CellCheck Technical Working Group to enable farmers to engage with their nominated veterinarian to develop farm-specific selective dry cow therapy (SDCT) plans, where appropriate. This study evaluated the effect of the DCC on farmer decision-making around dry cow therapy, and the udder health effects of implementing SDCT, in study herds over the 2019 and 2020 dry periods. The DCC was a 3-h consult, delivered and funded as part of the Targeted Advisory Service on Animal Health. Herds that completed a DCC were invited to register for a dry cow review the following year. The combined dataset for analysis across both years comprised 439 herds and 25,357 cows. Herd size ranged from 25 to 800. The median SCC of cows dried off with teat sealant only was 47,000 cells/mL before drying off in 2019 and 48,000 cells/mL at first milk recording in 2020, and 43,000 cells/mL before drying off in 2020 and 39,000 cells/mL at first milking recording in 2021. Following both the 2019 and 2020 dry periods, cows tended to converge toward a similar median SCC early in the following lactation, irrespective of prior dry cow treatment strategy. The uptake of SDCT was greater in review herds, with 21% of cows receiving teat sealant only in 2020, compared with 16.3% of cows in herds participating in a consult for the first time in 2020. At an individual cow level, in both years dry period new infection rate (NIR) was approximately 2.7% higher for cows treated with teat sealant only, than for those treated with both dry cow antibiotic tubes and teat sealant, and 1.2% higher than cows treated with antibiotic only. Regardless of treatment, a significant association was detectable between increasing parity and the risk of a dry period new infection. Increasing herd size had a significant effect on the risk of dry period NIR. At a herd level, no significant increase in NIR occurred when SDCT was used compared with herds where blanket dry cow therapy was used. Though not without risk, SDCT can be successfully implemented in Irish herds; however, constant attention to hygiene and management is essential. Despite the challenges, facilitating continued farmer education and engagement with professional guidance will be important.

Abstract: Abstract Summary Preterm infants (PTs) are at greater risk for vitamin D deficiency, which relates to the possibility of a higher incidence of comorbidities. Our goal was twofold, 1) to monitor vitamin D, calcium, phosphorus, parathyroid hormone (PTH), matrix metalloproteinase-8 (MMP-8) serum levels at three-time points during hospitalization, and 2) to assess the association between 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25OHD) levels and outcomes in PTs. Methods We carried out a follow-up on 50 Caucasian PTs ≤ 32 weeks of gestational age (GA) and/or ≤ 1500 g birth weight at 28 days and at 4 months. PTs were divided into two subgroups for tests of association with clinical outcomes based on vitamin D deficient infants 25(OH) D cord blood levels: ≤ 20 ng/ml). At an initial stage, 25(OH) D levels were determined in maternal/preterm blood samples and were compared to full term delivery infants. Results There were no differences in 25(OH) D serum levels at birth when comparing PTs to term infants, or regarding maternal levels. Abstract: Introduction: The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of teriflunomide in relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients treated in a real-world setting. Methods: This retrospective study was conducted at neurology departments of 15 hospitals in 2 Spanish Autonomous Regions. The primary endpoint was annualized relapse rate (ARR) during teriflunomide treatment. Secondary endpoints included changes in Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS), radiological activity, and adverse events (AEs). Results: 485 patients (72.2% women, mean of 36.5 years) were included; 74.8% had previously received other disease-modifying treatment. EDSS score at inclusion was 2.0. Mean time receiving teriflunomide was 2.5 years. The ARR during teriflunomide treatment was 0.16, a 20% lower than at baseline (0.20), although the difference did not reach statistical significance (P = 0.098). 4. Clinical and epidemiological features of patients with COVID-19 reinfection: a systematic review

Abstract: Recurrent positivity in a patient with COVID-19 may be due to various reasons, not necessarily reinfection. There is concern about the occurrence frequency of reinfection. Five databases and a preprint/preprint repository were searched. All case reports, case series, and observational studies were included. Bias was assessed for each study with the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale tool and reported according to the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA-2020). After eligibility, 77 studies were included for qualitative synthesis (52 case reports, 21 case series, and four case-controls; 1131 patients included). Of these, 16 studies described a second contact with the SARS-CoV-2 positive case, five studies described healthcare profession-related infection, ten studies described that the source of reinfection was likely to be from the community, one study described travel-related infection, nine studies described vulnerability-related infection due to comorbidity. The mean number of days from discharge or negative test to reinfection ranged from 23.3 to 57.6 days across the different included studies. The risk of bias for all case report/series studies was moderate/high. For observational studies, the risk of bias was low. Reinfection of patients with COVID-19 occurs between the first and second month after the first infection, but beyond, and 90 days have been proposed as a point to begin to consider it. The main factor for reinfection is contact with COVID-19 positive cases.

Abstract: S-allyl cysteine (SAC), has shown itself to performance important activity as a neuroprotective agent. This action is prompted by antioxidative activity. The aim of this study was to evaluate the neuroprotective effect of SAC, the principal organosulfur compound of garlic, on experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) as a model of multiple sclerosis (MS). Young-adult Dark Agouti rats were used. The experimental model of EAE was carried out by means of mielyn oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG). The effects of MOG were evaluated by changes in: clinical score, biomarkers of oxidative/nitrosative stress, antioxidants, mitochondrial viability and neurohistologic viability. Our results reveal that MOG causes oxidative/nitrosative damage in brain and spinal cord, a decrease in the glutathione redox system and cell loss, whereas SAC administration attenuates the effects of MOG. In addition, SAC was the most effective treatment used in this study. The data show the ability of SAC to modify the development of EAE.

6. Short-Term Evaluation of Left Ventricular Mass and Function in Children With Growth Hormone Deficiency After Replacement Treatment

Abstract: Background: Our study was designed to assess the effects of GHD on nutritional and metabolic parameters, brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels, and left ventricular mass (LVM) in prepubertal children and after short-term GH replacement therapy.Materials and Methods: This prospective study enrolled 81 children. We compared 40 GHD children (16 males and 24 females) to 41 healthy children (control group) (18 males and 23 females). All subjects were at Tanner Stage I (aged 7–11 years). At the baseline, a blood sample was drawn and echocardiographic images were obtained. These tests were repeated on the GHD subjects after 6 months of GH replacement therapy. Body surface, weight, size, blood pressure, heart rate, glucose, insulin, HOMA-IR, HOMA-β, QUICKI, cholesterol, HDLc, LDLc, triglycerides, IGF1, and IGFBP3 were measured. Indexed LVM, diastolic and systolic diameter (dD-sD), diastolic and systolic LV function, isovolumic relaxation time, right ventricle function, and BNP levels were obtained through echocardiography. These parameters were correlated to growth factors. Data were analyzed using Student's t-test or U-Mann–Whitney-test and Pearson's correlation, considering p < 0.05 to be significant.Results: Indexed LVM was smaller in GHD patients than in controls, whereas diastolic and systolic functions, BNP, metabolic, and nutritional profiles were similar. After treatment, nutritional and metabolic profiles significantly improved, though diastolic and systolic functions did not seem to have changed. There was a significant increase in LVM. Indexed LVM was similar to that of controls. Significant correlations were obtained between LVM-IGF1 and sD-IGFBP3.Conclusions: GHD in childhood is associated with a lower indexed LVM. In the short-term, GH increases the indexed LVM, while maintaining normal systolic and diastolic functions, BNP, and an improved lipid profile.

Abstract: Abstract This paper presents a search for the t-channel exchange of an R-parity violating scalar top quark ( $\tilde{t}$ ) in the e ± μ ∓ continuum using 2.1 fb−1 of data collected by the ATLAS detector in $\sqrt{s}=7~\mbox{TeV}$ pp collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. Data are found to be consistent with the expectation from the Standard Model backgrounds. Limits on R-parity-violating couplings at 95 % C.L. are calculated as a function of the scalar top mass ( $m_{\tilde{t}}$ ). The upper limits on the production cross section for pp→eμX, through the t-channel exchange of a scalar top quark, ranges from 170 fb for $m_{\tilde{t}}=95~\mbox{GeV}$ to 30 fb for $m_{\tilde{t}}=1000~\mbox{GeV}$ .

Abstract: Objective: a) to evaluate the appropriateness of histological criteria as proposed by Morson as indicators for surgery; and b) to compare the adequacy of Morson's criteria with Haggitt's levels as indicators for surgery in the case of malignant sessile lesions. Material and methods: we carried out a prospective, protocolized study of 42 patients with polyps with invasive carcinoma (IC) who underwent colonoscopic polypectomy from 1979 through 2008. We applied the histological criteria proposed by Morson to all the patients included in the series. Results: we treated 24 polyps with IC and favorable histological criteria (FC) and 18 polyps showing unfavorable histological criteria (UC). All polyps with FC were treated by means of colonoscopic polypectomy. None of the patients showed signs of disease after a mean follow-up period o f 9.67 yrs. Patients with polyps with UC were recommended to undergo surgery. The presence of unfavorable histological criteria in the polypectomy sample was clearly associated with an unfavorable patient outcome and showed a 100% sensitivity level, a negative prognostic value (NPV) of 100%, and a false negative (FN) percentage of 0% for the prognosis of the disease. We found 12 sessile polyps (Haggitt's level 4). Colonoscopic polypectomy was the treatment employed in 9 out of 12 cases. All patients are free from disease (mean follow-up 7.3 yrs). If Haggitt's level criteria had been applied, all 12 patients would have undergone surgery. This means 58% more patients than following Morson's criteria. Conclusions: Morson's criteria are considered an adequate diagnostic tool for the indication of surgery in patients with malignant adenomas. Haggitt's invasion levels do not accurately discriminate the necessity for surgery in case of malignant sessile lesions.

Abstract: Bovine reproductive disorders are of growing interest from both economic and health standpoints. The role that fungi play in these processes is becoming increasingly important. Study of the seroprevalence of anti-Aspergillus antibodies in cow sera taken from herds with previous reproductive disorders is therefore of great interest. We used an indirect ELISA technique, that had shown suitable results in previous studies in other animal species. Thirteen percent of the 387 animals tested in the current study were positive, accounting for 41% of herds. When this technique was applied to the sera of two fetuses, that were aborted due to aspergillosis, a significant difference in anti-Aspergillus antibody levels was found compared with those in control sera. The ELISA technique was compared with PLATELIA and PCR for 24 ELISA-positive cattle sera; these assays resulted in only one and three positive results, respectively. In conclusion, the ELISA analysis showed a significant seroprevalence of Aspergillus antibodies in herds with previous reproductive disorders. There is therefore a need for more attention to be paid to Aspergillus in the differential diagnoses of these conditions and to improve preventive methods to effectively control this organism.

Soil samples were collected using a wooden frame (monolith), with each sample weighing approximately 1 kilogram and taken from a depth of 0.20 cm. Litter samples were collected from the soil surface. A total of 80 samples were collected, with 40 soil samples and 50 litter samples obtained across the 8 plantain farms. Results The results showed that the relative abundance of biodiversity was higher in the 0–20 cm soil depth stratum than in the branch and leaf biomass strata. The values of the diversity indices of Simpson's Dominance, Shanon, Margalef, and Equity were in the normal range, with a tendency towards low diversity. Likewise, in the richness of species, the Dominance or most abundant genus were earthworms (Oligochaeta) and Hymenoptera ( Solenopsis, Leptothorax, Camponotus, Pheidole), indicating the directly proportional relationship, that is to say, that the greater the number of earthworms the production increases and the greater the number of Hymenoptera it decreases, confirmed with the Pearson correlation coefficient with a reliability of 95%. Conclusions It was concluded that based on the estimates of the diversity indicators, two detritivore genus (earthworms and Hymenoptera) were the ones with the more dominance, being important in the production of the banana agrosystem due to the decomposition of organic matter and its nutritional contribution to the plant. Abstract: [EN] BACKGROUND & AIMS: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) comprises a heterogeneous group of malignant tumors associated with dismal prognosis. Alterations in post-translational modifications (PTMs), including NEDDylation, result in abnormal protein dynamics, cell disturbances and disease. Herein, we investigate the role of NEDDylation in CCA development and progression. METHODS: Levels and functions of NEDDylation, together with response to pevonedistat (NEDDylation inhibitor) or CRISPR/Cas9 against NAE1 were evaluated invitro, invivo and/or in patients with CCA. The development of preneoplastic lesions in Nae1+/- mice was investigated using an oncogene-driven CCA model. The impact of NEDDylation in CCA cells on tumor-stroma crosstalk was assessed using CCA-derived cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs). Proteomic analyses were carried out by mass-spectrometry. RESULTS: The NEDDylation machinery was found overexpressed and overactivated in human CCA cells and tumors. Most NEDDylated proteins found upregulated in CCA cells, after NEDD8-immunoprecipitation and further proteomics, participate in the cell cycle, proliferation or survival. Genetic (CRISPR/Cas9-NAE1) and pharmacological (pevonedistat) inhibition of NEDDylation reduced CCA cell proliferation and impeded colony formation invitro. NEDDylation depletion (pevonedistat or Nae1+/- mice) halted tumorigenesis in subcutaneous, orthotopic, and oncogene-driven models of CCA invivo. Moreover, pevonedistat potentiated chemotherapy-induced cell death in CCA cells invitro. Mechanistically, impaired NEDDylation triggered the accumulation of both cullin RING ligase and NEDD8 substrates, inducing DNA damage and cell cycle arrest. Furthermore, impaired NEDDylation in CCA cells reduced the secretion of proteins involved in fibroblast activation, angiogenesis, and oncogenic pathways, ultimately hampering CAF proliferation and migration. CONCLUSION: Aberrant protein NEDDylation contributes to cholangiocarcinogenesis by promoting cell survival and proliferation. Moreover, NEDDylation impacts the CCA-stroma crosstalk. Inhibition of NEDDylation with pevonedistat may represent a potential therapeutic strategy for patients with CCA. LAY SUMMARY: Little is known about the role of post-translational modifications of proteins in cholangiocarcinoma development and progression. Herein, we show that protein NEDDylation is upregulated and hyperactivated in cholangiocarcinoma, promoting tumor growth. Pharmacological inhibition of NEDDylation halts cholangiocarcinogenesis and could be an effective therapeutic strategy to tackle these tumors. Abstract: The Mediterranean agrosystem 'Campo de Cartagena' (Murcia, Spain) faces a complex challenge, due to almost permanent water scarcity and high diffuse nitrate contamination of the groundwater. The electrical conductivity (EC) of groundwater can reach ≈6.5 dS m-1 and ≈96 mg L-1 of N (NO3-). In contrast, the EC of water from the Tajo-Segura water transfer is ≈1.5 dS m-1 and contains 99%) and dry protein were not affected (10.4%). NDVI and GCI vegetation indices were calculated to evaluate the treatments effect on chlorophyll content and crop vigor, when plants reached 30 and 100% cover and pre-harvest. NDVI ranged from 0.3-0.71 and CGI from 1.5-3.37, both reaching maximum when the crop was fully covered, but no differences between treatments were detected. The results obtained validate the economic viability of barley cultivation irrigated with highly saline water and, from an environmental point of view, highlight the importance of incorporating quantitative and objective methods for irrigation scheduling to minimize water and nutrient leaching.Acknowledgments: The authors would like to thank the ‘Estrella de Levante’ Foundation for funding this experiment through the agreement “6699/21IA-C” with the UPCT. Abstract: Meckel's diverticulum is the most common congenital defect of the gastrointestinal tract. It is most often silent or asymptomatic. However, acute abdominal signs of obstruction, inflammation, hemorrhage and perforation are possible in other cases. Different foreign bodies can cause perforation of Meckel's diverticulum. We present an 18-year-old male who presented to the emergency department with abdominal pain within 48 previous hours. After evaluation, acute appendicitis was diagnosed and he underwent laparoscopic appendectomy. Meckel's diverticulum perforated by a fish bone was intraoperatively discovered. Incidental appendectomy and segmental resection of the ileum were performed.Дивертикул Меккеля является наиболее распространенным врожденным дефектом желудочно-кишечного тракта. Abstract: The global whale population has dramatically declined in the past centuries due to anthropogenic abuse, whereas, climate change, ship strikes, entanglements, pollution, and water debris are currently making an enormous impact on the recovery of all whales on the planet. The prostate is recognized as the only male accessory gland in odontocete cetaceans, and prostatic pathologies have been recently described as very common in these animals. But nothing is reported about the male accessory gland in any species of mysticete. Here, we describe the topography and histology of the prostate of two baleen whales: a fin whale (Balaenoptera physalus) and a Bryde’s whale (Balaenoptera edeni) and conclude that in the mysticetes, the prostate displays the same general morphologic and histologic characteristics as in odontocetes. The prostatic gland of the mysticete may be a target for many pathogens that wants to spread by a sexual transition to other animals and the offspring which may have great impact on reproductive capability for the individuals.

37. Basic COVID-19 knowledge according to education level and country of residence: Analysis of twelve countries in Latin America

Abstract: IntroductionKnowing a disease is crucial for being able to fight it, especially in a region in which COVID-19 caused so many deaths, such as Latin America.ObjectiveTo determine the association between basic knowledge of COVID-19 and education level according to country of residence in Latin America.MethodologyThis is an analytical cross-sectional study. Basic level of knowledge was measured through nine close-ended questions (scale validated in Peru). The score obtained was analyzed through performing a crosstab vs. gender, age, education level, and country of residence.ResultsOf a total of 9,222 respondents, almost all of them knew the common symptoms (99%), modes of transmission (93%), and knew how to recognize which was not a specific symptom (93%). Through the multivariate model, we found that there was no association with gender (p = 0.716) or age (p = 0.059), in comparison with those who had primary or a lower education level. All the other higher education levels had statistically significant scores (all p-values p < 0.001). When comparing knowledge according to countries, and using Peru as reference for comparison, Chile, Paraguay, Mexico, Bolivia, Panama, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Colombia had a better level of knowledge (all p-values < 0.001); however, only El Salvador had a lower level (p < 0.001).DiscussionThere was lack of knowledge of some topics, difference according to academic degree and country. As Peru was one of countries that obtained the lowest level of knowledge, it could have influenced the fact that it was the most affected country in the world.

Abstract: This study approaches the interrelation patterns between composition of milk and whey, curd yield, chromaticity, syneresis, and technological quality of Manchega sheep milk using multivariate factor analysis. In addition, the effect of the main husbandry components (flock, prolificacy, season of the year, stage of lactation, and parity) on the common latent factors that define the pattern of variation of Manchega milk was assessed. For this purpose, 1,200 individual Manchega ewe milk samples from 4 different flocks registered under the Protected Designation of Origin Queso Manchego were analyzed (50 ewes/flock). Samples were collected in 2 different seasons of the year (spring and autumn) and at 3 time points per season: early, mid-, and late lactation. The obtained results suggested that curd yield mainly depends on milk composition, and the retention of water in the curd is related to coagulation traits. Thus, composition and moisture content could be useful indicators to assess the efficiency and quality of milk intended for cheesemaking, regardless of the analysis of coagulation properties. Finally, in terms of husbandry, a direct effect of flock and stage of lactation was observed on all analyzed factors, with a lower influence of season and parity.

Abstract: Sputtering of silicon in a Helium magnetron discharge has been reported as a bottom-up procedure to obtain amorphous Si films containing high amounts of gas-filled nanopores. Here we compare the microstructure and composition of Si–He nanocomposite films deposited by magnetron sputtering (MS) with 4He in DC or RF and 3He in RF operation modes. Electron microscopy (SEM and TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and ion beam analysis (IBA) have been used to analyze the films and to investigate the in-situ and ex-situ thermal evolution. Depending on deposition conditions different in depth compositions, nanopore size and shape distributions, porosity and He content could be obtained. The presence of impurities (i.e. oxygen) has shown to promote He diffusivity reducing He accumulation. The start temperature of He-release varied in the range 473–723 K without films crystallization. Films grown in RF mode reached contents of 32 and 29 at% of 4He and 3He and were respectively stable up to 573 and 723 K both in vacuum and under inert gas flow. In-situ p-EBS (proton Elastic Back Scattering) allowed monitoring the He release accompanied by blistering/delamination effects visualized by SEM. These results show the potentiality of annealing to hold nano-porous structures after liberation of trapped gas.

Abstract: This article explores the consequences of extremely low real interest rates in a world with integrated but heterogeneous capital markets, nominal rigidities, and an effective lower bound [a zero lower bound (ZLB) for simplicity]. We establish four main results: (1) At the ZLB, creditor countries export their recession abroad, which we illustrate with a new Metzler diagram in quantities; (2) Beggar-thy-neighbour currency and trade wars provide stimulus to the undertaking country at the expense of other countries; (3) (Safe) public debt issuances and increases in government spending anywhere are expansionary everywhere; and (4) When there is a scarcity of safe assets, net issuers of these assets import the recession from abroad.

Abstract: Aims: To analyze trends in asthma hospitalizations in patients over 15 years of age in Spain. To identify possible changes in incidence, demographic characteristics, clinical conditions, and outcomes. Methods: We conducted an observational retrospective epidemiological study using the Spanish National Hospital Discharge Database and included all patients hospitalized with a diagnosis of asthma from 2011 to 2020. Results: A total of 1,102,923 patients were hospitalized with a code for asthma in any diagnostic position; of these, 153,749 (13.94%) had asthma coded as the primary diagnosis (asthma exacerbation). The number of patients with an asthma exacerbation decreased over time, from 15,356 in 2011 to 8804 in 2020. In-hospital mortality (IHM) remained low (around 1.5%) and stable in this subgroup of patients. When the diagnosis of asthma appeared in any diagnostic position, hospitalizations increased for all ages and sexes. In this case, a significant change was observed for IHM, which increased from 3.27% in 2011–12 to 4.36% in 2019–20 (p < 0.001). The main risk factors for IHM in both cases were age over 65 years, need for mechanical ventilation, and associated diagnoses of pneumonia, heart disease, or atrial fibrillation. In contrast, obesity was a predictor of lower mortality. Conclusion: Our results suggest a decline in the incidence of hospitalizations for asthma exacerbations from 2011 to 2020. In contrast, the number of patients with asthma in any diagnostic position increased progressively, as did mortality, probably owing to an increase in comorbidities in a gradually ageing population.

46. Vitamin D Deficiency With High Parathyroid Hormone Levels Is Related to Late Onset Sepsis Among Preterm Infants

Abstract: Summary: Preterm infants (PT) are at greater risk for vitamin D deficiency, which relates to the possibility of a higher incidence of comorbidities. Our goal was twofold, 1) to monitor vitamin D, calcium, phosphorus, parathyroid hormone (PTH), matrix metalloproteinase-8 (MMP-8) serum levels at three-time points during hospitalization, and 2) to assess the association between 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25OHD) levels and outcome in pretermMethods: We carried out a follow-up on 50 Caucasian preterm infants ≤ 32 weeks of gestational age (GA) and/or ≤ 1500 g birth weigh PTs at 28 days and at 4 months. They were divided into two subgroups for tests of association with clinical outcomes based on vitamin D deficient infants (25(OH) D cord blood levels: ≤ 20 ng/ml). At an initial stage, 25-OHD levels were determined in maternal/preterm blood samples and were compared with full term delivery infants. Results: There were no differences in 25(OH) D serum levels at birth when comparing PTs to term infants, or regarding maternal levels. A strongly positive correlation was detected between maternal and neonatal 25(OH) D serum levels in term and preterm infants (r: 0.466; p < 0.001). Newborn with vitamin D deficiency did not have higher incidence in comorbidities. However, if we separate preterm babies in two groups based on vitamin D and PTH (group 1: vitamin D60 pg/mL and group 2: vitamin D>20 plus PTHConclusions: This study did not find any evidence of an increase in preterm birth risk related to vitamin D level at birth. Vitamin D deficiency by itself it is not associated to higher incidence in comorbidities. However, the binomial vitamin D-PTH must be taken into consideration.

Abstract: Resumen Antecedentes y objetivo La infiltracion corticoidea es efectiva en el tratamiento de los dedos en resorte, aunque el dolor percibido por el paciente durante la inyeccion es un efecto secundario siempre presente. La piel dorsal tiene una menor densidad de receptores nociceptivos, por lo que la infiltracion desde el dorso podria ser menos dolorosa. El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar si una tecnica de infiltracion a traves de la piel dorsal es segura en el tratamiento de esta patologia. Material y metodo Estudio anatomico en 16 manos de cadaver. Se realizo una infiltracion a traves de la piel dorsal de la comisura digital en cada dedo. Se reseco la piel palmar y se midio la distancia entre la aguja y las principales estructuras anatomicas. El riesgo de lesion iatrogenica se considero alto cuando la distancia media entre la aguja y alguna estructura neurovascular fue inferior a 1 mm. Resultados La distancia media desde la aguja hasta la estructura neurovascular mas cercana fue 1,77 mm. Se observaron dos lesiones iatrogenicas en 112 inyecciones, un nervio y una arteria. El dedo mas seguro fue el pulgar y el menos seguro fue el indice. En el dedo anular, la tecnica fue mas segura cuando se realizo desde el lado dorso-radial. Conclusiones La tecnica de infiltracion a traves de la piel dorsal de la comisura digital puede realizarse con un riesgo de lesion iatrogenica bajo aunque presente. Esta tecnica podria utilizarse en el tratamiento del pulgar y de los dedos en resorte, aunque esto debe corroborarse en un estudio clinico.
