Objective: To explore the effect of ureteroscopy with double J tube placement and drainage on ureteral stones during pregnancy, to compare the clinical effect of ureteroscope with double J tube placement on pregnancy complicated with ureteral stones, and using medical imaging to diagnose the patient’s condition and design a treatment plan. Methods: Eighty pregnant patients with ureteral calculi treated in our hospital were selected as the research object, and were divided into a test group and a control group according to the random number table method, 40 cases in each group. The test group underwent ureteroscope double J tube placement, and the control group underwent ureteroscope lithotripsy. Combined with the ultrasound scan results of the patients before and after the operation, the operation time, time to get out of bed and hospitalization time of the two groups of patients were compared. The operation success rate and the incidence of complications within 1 month after surgery were counted in the two groups of patients. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group was 100.0%, which is higher than that of the control group of 90.0%. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The adverse reaction rate in the observation group was 5.0%, which was lower than 17.5% in the control group. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The comparison results are then prepared. Conclusions: Double J tube placement under ureteroscopy has a significant effect on the treatment of ureteral stones during pregnancy, and it has good safety and is worthy of widespread application.

We report a case of a 63-year-old man presenting with abdominal pain and hydronephrosis secondary to periaortic fibrosis (PAF) 8 months after an endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) using a woven polyester bifurcated graft. De novo delayed PAF after open repair is rare and even more infrequent after EVAR. All 3 previously reported cases occurred after woven polyester grafts and no reported cases after polytetrafluorethylene grafts. Management included steroidal anti-inflammatory treatment and bilateral double J tube placement. Satisfactory results were obtained.

Aims Use of paediatric jejunal feeding (JF) is increasing. There is limited information on its long-term use with a notable absence of national guidance on JF in children. We present an audit of paediatric jejunal feeding practice in the Wessex Region over the last 5 years. Methods Paediatric patients initiating JF for longer than three months, across the 12 centres in Wessex, were included in the study. The total review period was last 5 years. Patients were identified from a paediatric surgical database with analysis of data including demographics, underlying diagnosis, placement indication, previous enteral feeding intervention, insertion technique, tube type and complications including tube survival and replacement frequency. Results 50 children (54% male, median age 1.68 yrs – IQR 0.74–7.46 yrs) initiated JF during the study period; 60% of children Conclusion We report a large cohort of jejunally fed children in the Wessex with more than 60% dependent on jejunal feeding at 5 years follow up. Paediatric JF is resource intensive requiring radiologic, surgical, gastrointestinal and dietetic services for insertion, feed management and replacement of jejunal tubes when required. We raise the need for national guidelines for indications of J tube placement, monitoring and management.
