Tension type headache is the most common type of headache. Although for most patients it is not a aerious medical condition, it is the main cause of analgesics use in the general population. The aim of this study was to evaluate the intensity and other qualities of pain as well as the influence of pain on impairments in everyday life activities, the presence of depressive symptoms and their correlation to pain intensity in patients with tension type headache.The tension type headache is a cronic pain condition, probably the consequence and not the cause od depressive symptoms.

The aim of our study was to estimate the burden and current patterns of migraine in Croatia. This was public health study conducted from April to June 2013 in Croatia. A questionnaire with 10 qustions was sent to 2750 e-mail addresses, randomly chosen from various internet sites. Out of 2750 sent questionnaires, 246 respondents declared having migraine ; 209 (85%)were women(56.5% aged 18-49 years ; 28.7% aged 46-65 years) ; 37 (15%) were men (8.1% aged 18-45 years and 6.5% aged 46-65 years).Migraine in under-treated and represents a major public health problem.

The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of acute and prophylactic migraine therapy in a group of patients with 10 migraines per month. ALL patients with migraine who attended the outpatient care service due to headache during 2011 were analysed. Migraine was diagnosed according to the ICHD II criteria. More attention should be given to patients with frequent attacks in order to provide them with a more efficient therapy.

Stoke caused by macroangiopathy is most frequently presented with transitory ischemic attack(TIA). The strong demand from patients for a less invasive alternative to the carotid endarterectomy has made carotid artera stenting an equally efficient and safe procedure for stroke prevention.

Migraine headaches and vestibular vertigo concur in the general population about 3 time more often than can be expected to be a coincidence. Population studies show that the prevalence of dizziness in the general population is over 20%and the lifetime prevalence of vertigo is 7%. One study has revealed that 3.2%of the general population has both vestibular vertigo and migraine.In that study, 1% of the population was diagnosed as having vestibular migraine(VM). VM was recently regognizes as a distinct clinical entyty and the diagnostic criteria will appear in an appendix of the 3rd edition of the International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD).Preventive antimigraine therapy is often useful in such patients ; however, randomized double-blind studies are needed.

Aim of this study was to investigate the diagnoses and treatment patterns of patients with chief compalint of headache in a tertiary outpatient care of the university-affiliated hospital center in Zagreb.All consecutive patients with headache that attended one single tertiary outpatient care service during 2011 were analysed. The type of headache eas diagnosed according to the ICHD II criteria. A total of 478 patient charts were analyzed ; 398 (81.4%) women, of average age of 44 years and 89 (18.6%)men of average age of 42 years.The majority of migraine patients was taking triptans, and was satisfied with their therapy. One third of the patients require prophylactic therapy.

Standard neuroimaging methods, such as CT and MRI due to their low specificity and sensitivity are only limited use in patients suffering from Parkinson´s disease. while in healthy individuals and patients with essential tremor (ET)substantia nigra is barely visible, in patients with PD it shows an increase in echogenicity which is registered by transcranial sonography (TCS. Since there is no widely accepted test to help us confirm Parkinson ´s disease (PD) or essential tremor (ET), clinical examination of well-established symptoms is the still most accurate way of diagnosis. However, the misdiagnosis rates for PD and ET in the early stages is as high as 20-30% in PD and in about one of three patients in ET.We initiated this study to assess the usefulness of the transcranial sonography (TCS) in the evaluation and differential diagnosisof the patients with movement disorders by measuring substantia nigra.Our study was performed on 240 individuals, including 60 patients suffering frim ET, 120 PD patients, and a control group of 60 healthy subjects matched by age.Our study confirmed previous finding that SN hyperechogenicity in TCs is a highly specific finding of PD, which might help in confirming PD diagnosis in doubtful clinical cases or in zhe early stages of the disease when the motorsymptoms are not yet fully developed and might be overlaping with symptoms of ET.

Craniocervical artery dissection(CCAD) appears to be the most common etiology of a stroke in young adults. There is an association between migraine and stroke. Several small- to medium- sized studies indicated a link between CAD and migraine. The aim of this study was assess the incidence of vascular risk factors in consecutive patients with CAD. The data of 20 consecutive patients with CAD diagnosed from january 1 to december 31, 2012.In this cohort of patients with CAD , hiperlipidemia and arterial hypertension appeared to be the most common risk factors , followed by heart disease and diabetes. Also, migraine was present more often than in general population.
