Introduction. Thymic hyperplasia is a rare condition caused by an increase in cellular thymic mass and, in some cases, is associated with autoimmune diseases, such as pure red cell aplasia (PRCA). Thymectomy is considered the most effective therapy for PRCA associated with thymoma, with a 31.5% complete remission rate. Other treatments may induce partial remissions, but complete remission re-mains elusive. A case of PRCA attributed to thymic hyperplasia is presented, highlighting the effectiveness of thymectomy. Case report. A previously healthy 18-year-old woman presented with severe anemia and after hematological evaluation, including bone marrow biopsy confirmation, a diagnosis of PRCA was made. Immunological and virological analyses were unremarkable. Given the history of thymoma in the family and the known association between thymoma and PRCA, a chest magnetic resonance imaging was performed, which proved the existence of thymic hyperplasia. The patient underwent the least invasive surgical procedure – total thymectomy using video-assisted thoracic surgery approach. Pathohistological examination of the operative material confirmed the presence of thymic hyperplasia with a simple intrathymic cyst. Following thymectomy, the patient’s hematological values significantly improved. Conclusion. The course and outcome of the patient’s treatment support the role of thymectomy in PRCA associated with thymic hyperplasia. However, further re-search and follow-up are needed to optimize management strategies for this rare condition.

Minor grapevine varieties represent enormous value in terms of cul­tural heritage, diversification of products with higher economic value and adaptation to environmental conditions. This paper presents the results of research on certain production and technological characteristics (mechanical composition of clusters and berries, as well as chemical composition of grape must) of a local, i.e. minor white wine variety Sremska Zelenika examined in the agro-ecological conditions of the Fruška Gora wine-growing sub-region (Srem wine-growing region) in the locality of Sremski Karlovci. In the two-year research (2020 and 2021), without any yield reduction, it was determined that the average mass of the cluster was 266.5 g. The average sugar content in the grape must of the tested variety was 19.8%, the average content of total acids was 6.75 g/l and the average pH of the grape must was 3.27. Comparing the results of previous researches conducted in the same locality, it is concluded that in this research the minor variety of Sremska Zelenika has some better production and technological characteristics.

Introduction: During the course and development of diverse cardiological diseases different central nervous system complications may develop. These are most frequently related to the nature of the cardiovascular entity itself. Aim: To evaluate the association between atherogenesis factors and border zones strokes within the cerebral medial artery vascularization territories. Methods: In total 30 patients were enrolled in the study. Stroke diagnosis was based according to clinical and neurological examination and brain CT findings. The study analyzed risk factors correspondingly to World Health Organization criteria. Results: In majority of patients (18; 60%) arterial hypertension was diagnosed. Additionally, following condition and risk factors were identified: cardiological diseases (17; 23.3%), cigarette smoking (13, 43.3%), hypercholeterolaemia (9; 30%) and diabetes (7; 23.3%). In the group with cardiological diseases most frequent was myocardial infarction (9; 56.2%), AV block II and III (5, 29.4%), atrial fibrillation with slow ventricular response (3; 17.6%). Conclusion: Results of the study point to conclusion that myocardial infarction, AV block II and III, atrial fibrillation with slow ventricular response, iatrogenic hypertension and traditional risk factors for atherogenesis significantly influences presentation of the border zone strokes within the cerebral medial artery vascularization territories.

The theme of this paper is the modeling of focal-directorial surfaces, starting with their definition, as a locus of points, whose sum of the distances to the focus and/or directrix is constant and predefined. We presented a heuristic algorithm for modeling surfaces and their isocurves, achieved through the use of the Grasshopper visual programming editor in the RhinoCeros environment. Surfaces and their isocurves were generated in a spherical grid, because a Cartesian grid proved unsuitable for the task and the chosen approach. This paper additionally proposes a modeling algorithm of a discrete variation of focal-directorial surfaces. The proposed modeling method is a 3D convex hull implemented on a set of surface points, with the selected points close to that surface. The discrete model is realized both in a Cartesian and spherical grid. There are significant differences between the obtained results.

Chemical and physico-chemical parameters of marinated and salted Atlantic mackerel (Scomber Scombrus), with emphasis on the quality and safety parameters in modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) and vacuum packaging (VP), were investigated. Quality assessment of mackerel stored in MAP (40% CO2+60% N2) and VP for up to 50 days at 4±1 °C was done by the monitoring of pH value, total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N), thiobarbituric acid (TBA) and histamine. The pH value of fish meat was significantly lower in the marinated samples. The highest concentration of TVB-N was recorded in the salted mackerel stored under VP whereas the lowest TVB-N in the marinated mackerel stored under MAP conditions. The formation of TBA increased with the time of storage and was the lowest in the marinated mackerel stored in MAP. The concentration of histamine increased during storage and its level reached over 10 mg/100 g for the salted mackerel stored under VP conditions. The marinated mackerel packed in MAP had extended shelf life at 4±1 °C compared to that packaged in VP according to physico-chemical analysis.

The objective of this work was to investigate the scope of production, export and import of honey in the Republic of Serbia from 2004. to 2014. The results are based on the report of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia. The observed period is characterized primarily by the increase in the number of beehives as well as an incresed honey production, followed by honey price growth and minor changes honey yield per hive. In this period, honey production ranged from 2,561 tons (in 2008) to 8,554 tons (in 2013). The largest volume of honey exports was in 2013. (3,367.7 tons, worth 14,881.4 thousand USD), and the largest import of honey into Serbia was in the same year (60.6 tons, worth 240.3 thousand USD). In the monitored period, Germany imported the largest quantities of honey from Serbia, about 4,611.0 tons (worth about 19,546.9 thousand USD), and somewhat smaller amounts of honey were imported by Italy and Montenegro. On the other hand, in the same period, Serbia imported the largest quantities of honey from the Republic of Macedonia, about 40.6 tons, worth 119.5 thousand USD. Beekeeping in Serbia definitely has a great development potential, so accordingly, its production should be encouraged in the future.

Fish represents a significant source of animal proteins in the diet of people in a large part of the world. The market in Serbia is supplied from its own production (carp and trout fish ponds) and catch from open waters. However, the largest part of the fish on the market is imported. Average area under carp fish ponds from 2006. to 2012. was 8,417 hektars, and under trout fish ponds was 49,900 square meters. Average annual production of carp fish species in this period was 7,228 tons, and of trout was 923 tons. In open waters of Serbia, the catch (from both professional and sport fishing) is averagely 3,745 tons of fish. The biggest catch of fish in open waters refers to goldfish, then carp and bream, while lower catch refers to white bighead. The objective of this investigation was to determine the scope and structure of fish catch and production in Serbia from 2006. to 2012.
