Abstract

This study reports on Akita University's participation in the "TOHOKUCRAFT Student Collaboration Project" to propose value propositions for traditional crafts. Traditional crafts differ in use, beauty, and points that evoke a sense of beauty, depending on where they were produced. Aesthetics has a design aspect and a brand aspect. With both design and brand, there is value. In this project, six students enrolled at Akita University conducted a regional survey to learn about the value of Kabazaiku (wild cherry bark work), which has been handed down in the Kakunodate area of Senboku City, and to create new values that are compatible with current lifestyles. There is a long history of branding traditional crafts, and the brand story has already been established to some extent. This paper reports on the results of students' own learning through active learning of methods to create new value propositions for already established brands and to gain consumer engagement.

17. Effectiveness of preanesthetic administration of gabapentin on sedative action during intravenous sedation with propofol

Abstract

Purpose There are no sufficient evidences for the sedative effect of gabapentin during anesthesia, especially intravenous sedation (IVS). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the sedative effect of gabapentin as preanesthetic medication during the IVS with propofol. Methods 10 volunteer subjects joined this study. They underwent propofol IVS three times on separate days. On the first day, the IVS without gabapentin was performed as a control. On the second and the third day, gabapentin 200 mg and 400 mg were administered before the IVS, respectively. The target blood concentration (C.sub.T) of propofol was gradually increased, and the bispectral index (BIS) value and Ramsay sedation score (RSS) were evaluated at each propofol C.sub.T. Postanesthetic complications and influences on vital signs were also evaluated. Results Compared to the control group, the propofol C.sub.Ts in the gabapentin 400 mg group significantly reduced at the BIS values of 60 and 70 (p = 0.031 and p = 0.043, respectively), and at RSS 3, 4, 5 and 6 (p = 0.040, p = 0.004, p = 0.001 and p = 0.004, respectively). There was no significant difference in propofol C.sub.Ts between the control group and the gabapentin 200 mg group. There were no abnormality and no deterioration in circulation and respiration in all groups. There were no significant increases in complications with the administration of gabapentin. This paper is a study the economic impact of COVID-19 on tourism in Akita Prefecture as an example. First, we survey papers of the economic impact of COVID-19 in Japan. In addition, we research decline in tourists based on the tourism statistics by Akita Prefectural Government, and we estimate effects of the economic impact of COVID-19 on tourism in Akita Prefecture by input-output analysis. As a result, it became clear that COVID-19 impacts to economic in Akita Prefecture. COVID-19 caused a loss of tourism demand in Akita Prefecture and caused a great economic loss to the tourism-related industry.

Abstract

This study investigates the factors that contribute to broadening social understanding of e-sports events. e-sports is a method for viewing computer games as sports, and has attracted strong interest from around the world. The brand image of e-sports in Japan is derived from home video game consoles and is often pointed out by customers as being aimed at children. This is one of the factors hindering the spread of the sport. Therefore, we conducted a survey to find out what kind of e-sports tournaments would help revitalize local communities. As a result of factor analysis, it was found that the participants were divided into two groups: the spectator group and the experience value group. As for the game titles to be handled, the participants preferred titles that they had played on home video game consoles rather than IPs used in the world championships.

28. Sedative effects of oral pregabalin premedication on intravenous sedation using propofol target-controlled infusion

Abstract

Purpose The sedative effects of pregabalin during perioperative period have not been sufficiently characterized. The aim of this study was to verify the sedative effects of premedication with pregabalin on intravenous sedation (IVS) using propofol and also to assess the influences of this agent on circulation, respiration, and postanesthetic complications. Methods Ten healthy young volunteers underwent 1 h of IVS using propofol, three times per subject, on separate days (first time, no pregabalin; second time, pregabalin 100 mg; third time, pregabalin 200 mg). The target blood concentration (C.sub.T) of propofol was increased in a stepwise fashion based on the bispectral index (BIS) value. Ramsay's sedation score (RSS) was determined at each propofol C.sub.T. Propofol C.sub.T was analyzed at each sedation level. Circulation and respiration during IVS and complications were also verified. Results Propofol C.sub.T was reduced at BIS values of 60 and 70 in both premedicated groups (100 mg: p = 0.043 and 0.041; 200 mg: p = 0.004 and 0.016, respectively) and at a BIS value of 80 in the pregabalin 200 mg group (p < 0.001). Propofol C.sub.T was decreased at RSS 4-6 in the pregabalin 100 mg group (RSS 4: p = 0.047; RSS 5: p = 0.007; RSS 6: p = 0.014), and at RSS 3-6 in the pregabalin 200 mg group (RSS 3-5: p < 0.001; RSS 6: p = 0.002). Abstract

This paper is an analysis of the current situation and issues in the working environment for women in Akita City. First, we analyzed the companies in Akita City using statistics. In addition, a questionnaire was sent to Akita University students to answer questions about how women work and how to balance work and family. As a result, it became clear that companies in Akita City have a working environment for women. However, the percentage of female managers was low. It is important to have an environment and personnel system that can fully understand women's abilities and motivation. Based on the results of a questionnaire survey of Akita University students, the employment support system for women was an important item in determining work. Supporting women's continuation of work by considering work-life balance and enhancing the child-rearing system is a concept necessary for increasing the number of female managers.

Seven time-of-flight quasielastic/inelastic neutron scattering instruments are installed on six beamlines in the Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility (MLF) at the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (JPARC). Four of these instruments are chopper-type direct-geometry spectrometers, one is a near-backscattering indirect-geometry spectrometer, and the other two are spin-echo-type spectrometers. This paper reviews the characteristic features, recent scientific outcomes, and progress in development of MLF spectrometers.
