This study aims to investigate the effect of developing curriculum components on upgrading the students’ English acquisition in State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Sorong, Southwest Papua Province Indonesia. Developing curriculum components presented goals, contents, approaches, methods, and evaluation precisely is to know the students’ English acquisition covering vocabulary, grammar, listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The sample size for this study comprises 72 students consisting of 36 students from Class A and 36 others from Class B, representing the experimental group and a control group. Those groups were selected based ona partitional clustering method. An experimental design was employed to conduct the study, which involved gathering quantitative data from the pre-test and post-test. It was to obtain the students’ English acquisition achievements. To analyze the collected data, SPSS is used for a precise and efficient process of the various necessary outputs describing meaningful conclusions. The pre-test findings conclude no significant difference in students’ achievement before treatment.After treatment, the post-test found the t-value was greater than t-table (t-value 4.690 t-table 2.000). This data strongly indicates a positive impact of developing curriculum components to improve students’ acquisition of English elements for the experimental group. This means the study summarized and emphasized the development of curriculum components precisely, structurally, systematically, and professionally for the teachers to upgrade their students’ acquisition of English elements significantly.

The diaspora of Arabian Hadrami (hereinafter referred to as Hadrami) in Nusantara, Indonesia, has been a topic that has attracted several studies. The lack of in-depth study of Hadrami in the context of its leadership is surprising. Many scholars viewed that the Hadrami did not play much of a role. Generally, scholars concluded that the motivation of the majority of Hadrami people to this part of the world was only to trade, instead of spreading Islam or others. This fact contradicts Jange’s opinion that with a role for Indo-Hadrami to make Indonesia a homeland, is evidence that Hadrami has a leadership role, in addition to the role of history a historical role. This article aimed to reveal the role of Hadrami’s leadership in Islamizing Jambi. This study used a literature research method, namely literature study, to obtain primary data and performed observation and interviews to get supporting data. The primary data were analyzed using the text reading technique, while the supporting one was treated using flowchart analysis. This study showed that Hadrami’s leadership had at least the three roles of leadership management psychology in Islamizing Jambi they are historical, educational, and cultural. These three roles are strongly suspected to be a factor in the Malay (Islamic) Sultanate formation in Jambi. The implications of the findings show that Hadrami’s leadership has had an impact on the entry of Islam in Jambi and has changed the social religious order in Jambi from before. This fact contributes both theoretically to the roles of Hadrami such as the role of history, education, culture, and psychology of leadership management, as well as practically, contributing to the existence and recognition of Islam in Jambi, as well as the policy contribution to the importance of Hadrami’s role in advancing Jambi in terms of Islam and Islamic education.

Background: Recognizing and strengthening emotional intelligence is useful in all members of society, especially students. By recognizing emotional intelligence and applying it, students can achieve more success in their career. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement among students. Methods: A correlational study was performed on 100 students studying in clinical psychology at the School of Medicine, Trisakti University, Jakarta, Indonesia, in 2021. Bar-On test was used to evaluate the student’s emotional intelligence. Pearson correlation coefficient and independent t-test were used to analyze the research data with SPSS software. Results: There was a significant difference between the age variable with emotional intelligence (P < 0.05) and emotional intelligence with academic achievement (P < 0.01). In addition, the components of problem solving (r = 0.310, P = 0.002), stress tolerance (r = 0.291, P = 0.002), reality testing (r = 0.280, P = 0.004), interpersonal relationships (r = 0.217, P = 0.03), and optimism (r = 0.326, P = 0.005) had a significant relationship with the variable of age and the components of emotional Intelligence (r = 0.271, P = 0.005), independence of action (r = 0.187, P = 0.024), self-awareness (r = 0.283, P = 0.031), responsibility (r = 0.757, P = 0.042), and sympathy (r = 0.953, P = 0.034) with the academic achievement. Conclusion: In order to achieve high levels of academic achievement, students must be able to control emotions and affects in many ways; however, students cannot achieve their academic potential without reaching the components that make up emotional intelligence.

One of the critical crises observed in human society, especially in the so-called advanced and industrial societies, is the spiritual crisis. Spirituality in various types of cultural and religious concepts is considered a spiritual path one in which can achieve something like a high level of consciousness, wisdom or union with God. In addition, self-esteem is a sense of worth. This feeling comes from the sum of our thoughts, feelings, emotions and experiences throughout life. Dignity also means honour and pride, which has been mentioned many times in the Qur’an. In contrast to dignity, there is humiliation, which means lack of dignity in which one simply accepts defeat. Religious teachings, especially Islamic teachings, do not summarise dignity as wealth, luxury and the enjoyment of material possibilities, but interprets dignity as spirituality, and liberation from the shackles of worldliness, which give Muslims a moral identity. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating role of moral identity between spiritual intelligence and self-esteem of Muslims. The statistical population includes 834 Muslim employees working in 20 branches of one Iranian university. Necessary data were collected by standard questionnaires. Pearson’s correlation coefficient and regression analysis in SPSS software (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) were used to analyse the data. According to the results of the analysis, there is a positive relationship between spiritual intelligence and self-esteem of Muslims. There is also a positive relationship between moral identity and self-esteem. Furthermore, moral identity plays a mediating role in the relationship between spiritual intelligence and self-esteem, and it strengthens this relationship. Contribution: The present study proves the mediating role of ethical identity on the relationship between spiritual intelligence and self-esteem in an Islamic society.

Ethical behaviour, in its simplest terms, means knowing and doing what is right. Nevertheless, the main difficulty is how to define the word ‘right’. For this purpose, various individuals, cultures and religions have thus far portrayed it in different ways. The present study reflected on the Islamic society, wherein ethical leadership has been one of the most effective factors in its continuation of life and success, with a vital role in its growth, development and progress. Accordingly, the relationship between ethical leadership and the voice of Muslim employees in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2021, as the statistical population (n = 2500) was analysed. For this purpose, a standard questionnaire was used to collect the necessary data, whose validity was confirmed by the construct validity in the Linear Structural Relations (LISREL) software and its reliability was checked via the Cronbach’s alpha in the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. Besides, path analysis was utilised to test the research hypothesis. Confirmatory factor analysis was correspondingly implemented to examine the data. Ultimately, the study results revealed a significant positive relationship between ethical leadership and the voice of Malaysian Muslim employees (p = 0.80; t = 5.02). Contribution: Based on the literature review and the results of this study, ethical leadership can motivate Muslim citizens to participate in decision-making processes and even allows them to express their creative ideas in organisations and society.

This article tells the involvement of humanitarian organizations in the post-war reconstruction process of disaster in the city of Palu, Sigi and Donggala Regencies. The presence of humanitarian organizations is urgently needed to help the process of acceleration of reconstruction. In carrying out its humanitarian mission, it is expected that these institutions are coordinated by the authority of the government/state. Management of Integrated Community Shelter expected able to help the process of reconstruction post disaster apparently also still constrained in the pattern of coordination. Coordination pattern which is less likely to occur in delivering open and funneling aid to victims. this paper found that the existence of the weakness of the State in controlling and embody the humanitarian agency's involvement in the process of reconstructions. Collaborative approach to governance in the management of Integrated Community Shelter appears as an alternative solution in the answer to these problems.

This research is about differences and similarities of phrase construction in Arabic and Indonesian. The approach in this paper was a descriptive qualitative analysis approach. The findings of this study revealed that some construction of the phrase structure is the same. Subordinative noun phrases are equivalent to idhafah in Arabic, Indonesian adjective phrases are similar to na'at in Arabic, Indonesian coordinative phrases are similar with athaf in Arabic and Indonesian prepositional phrases are similar to syibhul-jumlah in Arabic. However, there are differences between both languages which can be found in Idhafah in Arabic, some vocabulary cannot be called phrases in Arabic, and vice versa. Differences can also be found in the use of athaf letters in the equivalent of coordinative phrases. The differences are also found in the numeral phrases and murakkab adadi. Even taukid and tarkib majazi do not have the equivalent in Indonesian. The differences are not only due to structural aspects, but also by differences in cultural concepts and expressions. This study implies that errors can be predicted in the construction of Indonesian student phrases and the production of translations of Arabic phrases that are different from the construction of Indonesian phrases. The differences were found not only in the structure but also in differences in cultural concepts. This study shows that mistakes can be predicted from the formation of phrases and the translation of Arabic sentences that are different from the structure of Indonesian language.

The Buginese and Madurese are well known as fierce sailors and are open-hearted ethnics in Indonesia. It seems that they have their typical characters and identities compared to the other ethnics in Indonesia. Their characters and identities become part of their life, including in economic, social customs or even when they immigrated to a new place. This phenomenology study tried to explain the behavior of Buginese and the people of Madurese who immigrated to Papua. The study also would seek to explore beyond migration of the Bugis and Madurese in Papua. This article was conducted in Papua to assess the patterns of migration and community interaction of Bugis and Madurese with other communities. The study findings revealed that Buginese and Madurese seem similar among others in terms of economic activity, mastery in the field of politics, and social role in the community. Besides, with their capacity, it has a role in religious activities which they always carry out in their environment. By not making it as a mission of deployment religious activities, but rather only to defend their religious understanding in a way that it would be limited just to the internal environment. It seems both the Buginese and Madurese firmly have a connection to the Islamic identity factors that are part of their religious expression.

National aspiration in different ways effects to the community response through their condition. This situation reflects the dynamics of interest in diverse direction. Therefore, this article will identify the development of Muslim minority in Pattani, Thailand. A qualitative approach was applied to conducting research. In-depth interview and non-participant observation was an instrument to collect data. Data triangulation was conducted through twice focus group discussions in a different university. This article discusses the portrait of Islamic education in Pattani of Thailand. They face dynamic and struggle to maintain a combination of national interest and local need. National aspiration is the main source to formulate the institutional design. On the other hand, they embedded local aspiration through ethnic and religious values to combine in national education. In keeping with the identities and personal communication, they tried to root the religious value and belief to educational form. Finally, this article amplifies the local condition in Pattani Muslim society. The development of Islamic education runs to the situation in extending ethnic, religious expression, and politic.

This paper examines the relationship between public policy and education management in Indonesia by looking at various indicators influencing the public policy and the education management. For education management, factors like education achievement at elementary & higher school, college enrolment, job market in both local and international levels and social development are observed. Public policy is studied through work force development, higher education, brain drain, public safety, constitutional convention, job approval, legislature and operation policies. To examine this association, a survey questionnaire is developed and presented on various respondents regarding public policy and education management. A sample of 327 respondents is empirically examined and it is observed that the effect of work force development on elementary school achievement was significant while the effect of brain drains, job approval and legislature were crucial for the presented indicators of education management. Further studies can be conducted while considering other aspects of both public policy and education.

A workload is one of contradictive variables, whether it influences the performance of employees or not. The purpose of this study is to analyze whether or not the workload influences the performance of bank employees. It employs quantitative approach and path analysis is employed to analyze the effect of workload on the performance of bank employees. The research samples include 74 bank employees around the City of Blitar, East Java, Indonesia. The result shows that a workload had a significant positive effect on the performance of bank employees. It also has greater influence on employee performance through motivation variables. The managerial implication of the current research is that the provision of workload which is in accordance with the competence and comfort of employees may improve their performance. In addition, employees who have higher education level are able to adjust more on the workload because they have higher-achievement motivation.

This article reviews the tradition of adoption among Bugis people through the views of Bugis scholars and values of local wisdom. This research is a qualitative research using a content analysis approach. The study finds the fact that Bugis scholars have identified two forms of adoption practices. First, the practice of adoption as it is currently happening which change the nasab (lineage) so that it can inherit each other. Second, adoption practices that do not change the nasab. The first model is adoption that is prohibited in Islam in order to maintain the law and the descent according to the intentions of cultural values of paccing and sticking. The second model is allowed adoption. Such adoption practices are even encouraged if the motives are humanitarian motives and also in accordance with the values of the pesse culture (pacce), namely a deep sense of humanity and sibaliperri (mutual cooperation spirit).

The purpose of this study was to find out what factors could trigger the enthusiasm of the Emeyodere foundation students. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method. The results showed that first, the leadership factor of the foundation, the foundation aim was to elevating the Kokoda tribe from educational backwardness. Second, motivation factor. Third, aid factor, the foundation provides assistance or donations such as books, stationery for every semester, school uniforms for disadvantaged students, and supplementary meals every two weeks. Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor apa saja yang dapat memicu semangat peserta didik yayasan Emeyodere. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertama, Faktor kepemimpinan yayasan, yayasan ini didirikan dengan tujuan untuk mengangkat derajat suku Kokoda dari keterbelakangan pendidikan. Kedua, faktor motivasi, ketiga, faktor bantuan, pihak yayasan memberikan bantuan atau sumbangan berupa buku-buku dan alat tulis pada setiap semester, seragam sekolah bagi peserta didik yang kurang mampu, dan makanan tambahan setiap dua minggu sekali.

This article aims to analyses the leadership style of Muslim priest (kyai) in traditional Islamic boarding school (pesantren) seeing from Weber’s leadership theory in managing human resources, infrastructure, finance, and social capital in the pesantren for development. This research also intends to review the existence of selected traditional Islamic boarding school with the types of what Weber’s explain in his article. Using library study in a qualitative approach in nature on several sources, i.e., library books, documents and information on the internet. DDI Mangkoso in South Sulawesi province was selected due to its long history as Islamic institution and their renowned and charismatic and transformative kyai since their early years of establishment. The analysis in this research somehow managed to reveal that the three Weber’s patterns type is found in the leadership of kyai in several pesantrens around Indonesia including in DDI Mangkoso. Traditional leadership of DDI Mangkoso’s kyai is strongly influenced by the tradition of education in pesantren which respects kyai’s position as the leader and the founder of the pesantren. However, charismatic and transformative leadership through Anregurutta K.H. Abdul Rahman Ambo Dalle and KH Farid Wajedi were the two most influence styles among Kyai in DDI Mangkoso until now

Reading is one of language skills that should be acquired by the students who learn English course in junior high school level. In learning a foreign language, students face many problems, especially in comprehending reading text. In reading process, the students have to understand the meaning of the text through their learning styles and combining their background knowledge, experiences, and situation with the information which is stated on the text. This article was to investigate the empirical evidence on the effect of Reciprocal Teaching Technique (RTT) Technique and learning styles on Students’ Reading Comprehension. The research was quantitative method and applied quasi-experimental design. Sample of the research were chosen though simple random sampling technique. Data collecting technique of this research were pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed by two-ways ANOVA. The findings of the recent study are: (1) there was an effect between teaching method and students’ learning styles on students’ reading comprehension, and (2) there were differences effect of students’ reading comprehension between students who own visual learning style in RTT group and those who own auditory learning style in class. It can be summed up that teaching through applying RRT technique which being supported by learning styles (visual and auditory) are to develop the students’ reading comprehension.

Abstract Islamic boarding schools not only can bring up the religious enthusiasm, but also interpret Indonesia with a spirit of nationalism. Hence, it is not surprising that pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) is present to give a dedication to this nation aside from Islamic interest. Not only in the role of education,an educational institution like pesantren also had socio-cultural functions and role, a significant spiritual movement needs to be done to provide reinforcement towards empowerment within the goal of education holistically. A means that supports the learning process is the mastery of Arabic. This paper will describe the practice of Arabic teaching and learning in Muslim minority area with an approach to the principle of moderation. The research was carried out in West Papua which included five districts and one city. The results of the study showed that the application of learning that was carried out in Islamic boarding schools in Mayamuk, Aimas, Waisai, Teminabuan, Kaimana, Waigom, and Misol, was done in a well-structured. In the seven locations, Islamic education within the framework of the learning process that is based on language skills is carried out with the santri (Students) communicative approach. The skill of the students that is trained is linguistic expression without special emphasis on grammar mastery. The environment of boarding schools that provide dormitories as a place to live becomes a tool of interaction among santri (students) in practicing language skills. The language ability of the students is adapted to the learning context along with the environment. The existing social aspects are used to support the learning process. Finally, this research concludes that differences in learning objectives and determining approach and methodological aspects will affect learning Arabic. This study aimed at identifying how did the improvement in the problem-solving ability of learners work in improving the ability of learners in constructing the materials obtained after the development of LKPD (Learner’s Worksheet) in classroom learning. This research used Research and Development (R & D) approach using the Kemp model. Data collections were done through problem-solving tests, validation analysis, and correlation test. The indicators of this study included the effectiveness of the developed learner’s worksheet and the increased ability of problem-solving that was seen from the learning results obtained. The results showed that the average increase in the learning outcomes of the learners was equal to 79.44 with a difference in the scores of learning outcomes where tcount = 32.806 > ttable = 1.734, with a significance level of 0.000. Also, the improvement of learning outcomes on the response of learners gives significant influence with a score of 0.338 with a significance level of 0.085. Based on these results the development, the problem-solving oriented students’ worksheet is declared valid and effective based on the results of validation tests by experts and the results of the implementation of classroom learning. These results impact the students’ learning outcomes. It is expected that in the learning process with different materials, the worksheet can be applied in improving students' ability to solve problems. It is suggested for a research to collaborate the worksheet with other models and, media that can be linked to the problem-solving aspects, so that in its implementation, students have the confidence to succeed, be more active, and interested in problem-solving given.

The Kei Islands of Southeast Moluccas, like other parts of Indonesia, have a customary order and cultural diversity. The values of local wisdom existing in the Kei community, which is contained in the customary law of Larwul Ngabal, is a very important cultural social capital in the social integration of its society. The type of study was an empirical research with sociological-anthropological juridical approach. The results show that the existence of customary law of Larwul Ngabal supports the implementation of regional autonomy with full authority and reinforcement in local regulations based on local wisdom in Kei Island. The dominant factors that caused the values of customary law of Larwul Ngabal have not provided legal strength in the implementation of local government is because it is determined by the recruitment factor of the leader who lacks capacity and competence. Added to the polarization of political parties and the values of local wisdom on financial strength in determining leadership. Therefore, to realize good local governance in Kei Islands, the values of customary law of Larwul Ngabal in various Local Regulations and local government policies must be accommodated, keeping in mind the custom, governmental and religious factors that are the foundation of Kei community life.

This article identifies the Islamic education movement and da’wah (Islamic missionary endeavor) of the Arab community in Palu incorporated in the Alkhairat organization. The formation of this organization arose from a madrasah (madrassa) named “Madrasah Alkhairat Al-Islamiyah” found by Sayyid Idrus bin Salim Aljufri, an ulama (Islamic scholar) from Hadramaut, in 1930 in Palu. The formation of the madrasah was the response of the Arab community in Palu Valley to the Christianization of Dutch Christian missionaries under the auspices of the Leger Dois Heist (Salvation Army). This study uses non-participant observation methods and purposive in-depth interviews with ten subjects consisted of leaders, teachers and staffs in Alkhairat to obtain data related to the topic. Furthermore, the authors verify the data. Finally, this article shows that the Islamic education and da’wah movement undertaken by the Arab community in Palu Valley reflects the process of integration and harmonization of Arabs with local people, and has supported the construction progress in Palu. Artikel ini mengidentifikasi gerakan pendidikan dan dakwah Islam komunitas Arab di Palu yang tergabung dalam organisasi Alkhairat. Terbentuknya organisasi ini berawal dari sebuah madrasah bernama “Madrasah Alkhairat Al-Islamiyah” yang didirikan oleh Sayyid Idrus bin Salim Aljufri, seorang Ulama asal Hadramaut, pada tahun 1930 di Palu. Pembentukan madrasah tersebut merupakan respon komunitas Arab di Lembah Palu terhadap kristenisasi yang dilakukan oleh para misionaris kristen Belanda di bawah naungan Leger Dois Heist (Bala Keselamatan) terhadap masyarakat Palu dan sekitarnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi non-partisipan dan wawancara mendalam terhadap sepuluh orang yang terdiri pimpinan, guru maupun staff dalam jaringan Alkhairat guna mendapatkan data terkait topik yang dikaji. Selanjutnya, penulis melakukan verifikasi data yang dijadikan bahan dalam penulisan. Akhirnya, artikel ini menunjukkan bahwa gerakan pendidikan dan dakwah Islam yang dilakukan oleh komunitas Arab di Lembah Palu mencerminkan proses integrasi dan upaya harmonisasi orang-orang Arab dengan masyarakat lokal setempat serta telah mendukung perkembangan pembangunan di Kota Palu.

Abstract The findings of this study may contribute to the government’s efforts to tackle the terrorist movement in Indonesia. Education, until today, is believed to be one of the methods to conduct knowledge transformation. However, in the implementation of education, accessibility sometimes becomes one of the obstacles. Hence, this paper described several matters concerning the extension of access to education. This matter required a political policy concerning the availability of educational facilities. Set in West Papua Province, this study described higher education strengthening individual capacity. When an individual is capable and being empowered, it means that not only his/her family who enjoy that ability, but also the society and the nation will enjoy the advance and competitiveness of human resource excellence. This qualitative study also showed through data collection in descriptive way from observation during how limitations can be sources of strength. So the limitations need not be regarded as obstacles, but should even be opportunities to do innovations. The study also concluded how an unorganized higher education can have an impact on the economy that will hamper the journey to seize the opportunity to know. Finally, with the reconstruction of various resources, universities can remain the best means of providing energy to serve civilization. Pendidikan hingga hari ini diyakini sebagai sebuah metode untuk melakukan transformasi pengetahuan. Namun demikian, pada tataran implementasi, aksestabilitas pendidikan merupakan sebuah permasalahan tersendiri. Untuk itu, tulisan ini memberikan beberapa hal terkait dengan perluasan aksestabilitas pendidikan. Upaya perluasan harus ditopang oleh kebijakan politis terkait dengan ketersediaan fasilitas pendidikan. Studi yang dilakukan di Provinsi Papua Barat mendeskripsikan perguruan tinggi yang tengah memperkuat kapasitas individu civitas akademikanya. Manakala individu terberdayakan, tidak hanya keluarganya, tetapi masyarakat dan negaranya akan merasakan dampak positifnya. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan data deskriptif dan observasi, penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa keterbatasan aksestabilitas pendidikan adalah sumber kekuatan. Keterbatasan tersebut tidak pantas dipandang penghalang, melainkan sebagai tantangan untuk melakukan inovasi. Studi ini juga menyimpulkan bahwa sebuah perguruan tinggi yang kurang terorganisir memberikan dampak ekonomi yang menghalangi kesempatan untuk mendapatkan pengetahuan. Akhirnya, melalui rekonstruksi terhadap ragam sumber daya yang tersedia, perguruan tinggi diyakini tetap merupakan wahana penyedia energi positif bagi perkembangan peradaban. The article discusses the history of madrasa in the Southern Province of Thailand. The Muslim Malay community in Southern Thailand is an inseparable part of the Republic of Thailand. Historically, the Muslim Malay community are indigenous people who have embraced Islam since the 13th century, and even reachedits peak of glory during the reign of Pattani Sultanate. The discussion specializes in the history of madrasa in the region. The study uses historical approach. The article illustrates that the beginning of the emergence of madrasa was motivated by the disagreement among Muslim Malay community against Thai governmental policies. Haji Sulong was the founder of the first madrasa in Southern Thailand in 1933 named “Madrasah Al-Ma’arif Al-Watattaniah Fattani” as a manifestation of his intention to improve the socio-economic welfare of Muslim Malay community through education. Finally, the article discusses the institutional dynamics of Muslim minority madrasa and the development in relation to the identity and capacity of community.

Terdapat bebeberapa teori tentang masuknya agama Islam di China. Perbedaan pendapat tersebut disebabkan oleh kurangnya data yang valid yang ditemukan dilapangan tentang kapan dan dimana pertama kali Islam menyebar di negeri itu.Menurut Jean A. Berli dalam bukunya Islam in China menjelaskan,masuknya Islam di China berlangsung pada abad ke-8.Sedangkan apabila berdasarkan pada catatan Chen Yuen dan catatan resmi dari Dinasti Tang menunjukkan bahwa Khalifah Utsman bin Affan sudahmengirim utusan ke China sejak abad ke-7, tepatnya tahun 30 H/651 M. Kedatangan Islam lebih dari 10 abad yang lalu tentu sedikit banyak memberikan dinamika tersendiri bagi perkembangan China. Meski sebagai minoritas, umat Islam di China selalu melibatkan diri dalam proses dealektika sejarah berdirinya negeri tersebut. Bahkan tokoh revolusionis yang membawa China dari pemerintahan tiran (Dinasti Manchu) menuju negara Republik Demokratis adalah seorang tokoh Islam yang bernama Sun Yat Sen. Hadirnya Sun Yat Sen dan tokoh-tokoh muslim penting lainya tidak lepas dari kegigihan umat Islam dalam membangun peradaban mereka melalui kultur, sosial, budaya dan pendidikan yang mereka perjuangkan selama berabad-abad. Di sadari atau tidak, kegigihan umat Islam inilah yang secara tidak langsung juga ikutserta dalam menentukkan arah gerak masa depan China yang sekarang ini.

Arabic is the compulsory subject of elementary school in Ministry of Religious Affair, Indonesia. Therefore, it is a need to identify the Arabic teaching and learning in extending the new curriculum. This article discusses the development of Arabic teaching and learning in Muslim minority of West Papua. Qualitative approach was applied during research. It was started from focus group discussion to identify research problem among elementary school teacher. Observation and in-depth-interview were conducted to collect data. Three months serial observation and interview to students, teacher, and school management were employed in ensuring data collection was stimulated. This article shows that Arabic language teaching and learning in Muslim minority of West Papua was developed to articulate environmental need. In addition, there are circumstances during program acceleration. Therefore, there are programs to develop and extend classroom achievement. Finally, this article discusses initiatives from teachers and school management in expanding and enlarging learning opportunities not only in school area and time, but also outside school hours.

This research explores issues related to mainstreaming the 2015 Regional Budget (APBD) of Riau Province amounted IDR 10.7 trillion. Based on the data obtained from the Riau Finance and Asset Management Board (BPKAD), Riau could only spend APBD 37.58% of APBD until October 2015. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia calculated Riau spent only 59.6% throughout 2015 and it wast the lowest regional spending in Indonesia. This poor expenditure rate demonstrates a problem in the implementation of Riau’s APBD which was inneficient and not yet relevant. An assessment by government expenditure theory reveals that these problems indicate a gap in APBD allocation that affect on the non-performance regional development as targeted in mid-term regional development plan (RPJMD). This APBD seems to perform only a budget plan, not an implemented budget policy yet.

The discrimination suffered by Rohingya Muslims is increasingly blewed up in media in last decade. The peak of the discriminatory treatment against Rohingya Muslim by Myanmar government is the unavailability of shelter from Myanmar government. In the perspective of international law, Myanmar government's actions constitute a serious violence, because it ignores the rights of its citizens. Even a series of massacres and inhumane treatment became a major offense committed by Myanmar government in terms of humanity. This attracted international attention in solving the problem. This article illustrated the fate of Rohingyas who are not given citizenship rights by Myanmar government. It also revealed the irony of Muslims of Rohingya life who are discriminated by the government of Myanmar, both in the practical as well as in the political context. Diskriminasi yang diderita oleh Muslim Rohingya semakin mengemuka di media dalam dekade terakhir. Puncak perlakuan diskriminatif terhadap Muslim Rohingya adalah tidak tersedianya tempat tinggal dari pemerintah Myanmar. Dalam perspektif hukum internasional, tindakan pemerintah Myanmar ini merupakan bentuk kekerasan yang serius, karena mengabaikan hak warganya. Selain itu serangkaian pembantaian dan perlakuan tidak manusiawi menjadi pelanggaran besar yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah Myanmar dalam hal kemanusiaan. Hal ini menarik perhatian dunia internasional dalam upaya memberikan solusi atas permasalahan-permasalahan tersebut. Artikel ini selain menggambarkan nasib warga Rohingya yang tidak diberikan hak kewarganegaraan oleh pemerintah Myanmar, juga mengungkap ironi Muslim dari kehidupan Rohingya yang didiskriminasi oleh pemerintah Myanmar, baik dalam praktik maupun dalam konteks politik.

Arabic has a special characters and positions compare to bahasa Indonesia as the mother tongue of students. These conditions are prospect to create joyful learning and teaching. Therefore, through the teaching and learning it is the opportunity to accelerate the process of understanding source language. This research was conducted in higher education of north Sulawesi in Manado. Non-participant observation and in-depth interview were conducted to collect data. Four months of research was studied from May to September of 2016. There was three circles of focus group discussion in validating data for triangulation. This article shows that the learning material consists of two categories language competency and religious teaching. This study illustrate that learning material was integrated to teaching of Islam. Religious material used to developed interactive substantial discussion and the medium of conversation is the Arabic. Additional activities and class hour was programed to enhance student chance to learn and practice outside formal classroom. There were some instructors were provided to maintain student training for couple weeks. This research discusses that in the field of Arabic language learning emphasize constructing learning opportunity environments, it is important which contents are included and it is also students’ great interest how these contents are presented. Lecturers and instructors tried to provide instructional explanations. Furthermore, they communicate and demonstrate prior knowledge and student motivation in determining learning outcomes. The learning provides student opportunity to acquire conceptual knowledge and language competency. The article concludes by considering how embodied language material learning to religious content is the way to speed up two subject in one teaching for curriculum enhancement.

Abstract: Religious routines was technique to raise environmental awareness. Therefore, this case study in Lanngikima, Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi is breakthrough to prevent environmental discretion at large. Illegal logging activities in Langgikima District have an impact on forest degradation and ecosystem quality ruin resulting in hydrology that is the occurrence of floods in the rainy season. In addition, the reduction of fertile soil layers due to the undercurrent due to illegal logging practices in this area. This article demonstrates that the transformation of the da'i approach of the environment into people's lives on the basis of religious spirituality through religious education and Friday speech activities. The activities rely as an ethical basis for forest conservation and saving. This approach is positively responded by the community and this activity spearheads the conservation movement of nature and the environment. These activities also build the collective consciousness of the community in Langgikima and extend to be a frame of sustainable forest utilization and management. Finally, law enforcement was not the only one to enhance the community life. On the other hand, the religious activities were integrated in to environmental discourse is one option to accelerate opportunities in the society. الملخص: أصبحت الأنشطة الدينية أسلوبا لبعث الاهتمام بالبيئة. لذا فإن دراسة الحالة في لانجيكيما كوناوي سولاويسي الجنوب الشرقية أصبحت طريقة احتياطية لسد المفاسد أكثر. كان نشاط قطع الأشجار غير القانوني في لانجيكما أدى إلى انحطاط الغابات وانخفاض نوعية النظم الإيكولوجية التي سببت وجود الهيدرولوجيا وهو حدوث الفيضانات في الشتاء. وكذلك نقصان طبقة الأرض الخصبة نتيجة تياّر لوجود نشاط قطع الأشجار غير القانوني في هذه المنطقة. دلّت نتائج الدراسة على أن تحوّل مدخل " داعي البيئة " إلى داخل حياة المجتمع عن أساس ديني هو عن طريق المحاضرات وخطب الجمعة. كانت هذه الأنشطة على أساس خُلقيّ لصيانة الغابات وتسليمها. استجاب المجتمع هذه الأنشطة استجابة إيجابية وأصبحت هذه الأنشطة أداة أساسية لصيانة العالم والبيئة. وأثّرت هذه الأنشطة كذلك الوعي الجماعيّ في "لانجيكيما" وأصبحت هي إطارا لاستفادة الغابات وتنظيمها أمدا بعيدا. بهذا لايكون تطبيق الحكم وحيد السبل لتنمية المجتمع، بل إذا كانت الأنشطة الدينية تجمع خطاب الوعي بالبيئة فإنها تكون أحد الخيارات لاسراع المجتمع في الحصول فرصة تقدّمه. Abstrak: Kegiatan keagamaan menjadi teknik untuk membangkitkan kepedulian lingkungan. Maka, studi kasus di Langgikima, Konawe, Sulawesi Tenggara dapat menjadi terobosan untuk membendung kerusakan lebih luas. Aktivitas illegal logging di Kecamatan Langgikima berdampak pada degradasi hutan dan penurunan kualitas ekosistem yang berakibat pada hidrologi, yaitu terjadinya banjir yang terjadi pada musim hujan. Begitu juga dengan berkurangnya lapisan tanah yang subur akibat terbawa arus karena adanya praktek illegal logging di daerah ini. Artikel ini menunjukkan bahwa transformasi pendekatan da’i lingkungan ke dalam kehidupan masyarakat dengan basis spiritualitas agama melalui kegiatan ceramah dan khutbah jumat. Aktivitas tersebut berdasar kepada basis etika bagi konservasi dan penyelamatan hutan. Pendekatan ini direspon secara positif oleh masyarakat dan kegiatan ini menjadi ujung tombak gerakan konservasi alam dan lingkungan hidup. Kegiatan-kegiatan ini juga membangun kesadaran kolektif di Langgikima dan dijadikan sebagai bingkai pemanfaatan dan pengelolaan hutan secara lestari. Akhirnya, penegakan hukum bukan satu-satunya mengembangkan masyarakat. Sebaliknya, aktivitas keagamaan ketika diintegrasikan dengan wacana kepedulian lingkungan menjadi salah satu pilihan untuk mengakselerasi peluang di masyarakat.

Islamic boarding school which well-known as pesantren establishment reflects a process of transformation on religious level of education. Arabic language is the compulsory subject to gain the set of curriculum. Therefore, it is a need to explore the process of Arabic language teaching and learning in the Islamic school. This research was conducted in Sorong greater area of West Papua. In-depth interview and non-participant observation were employed in collecting data. Arabic language is the main subject to support others subject. Each semester, students need to complete a set of subject. Some activities extend the subject in many courses to enrich language skill and capacity. In addition, Muslim minority is the environment to challenge the region. Therefore, the schools constructed the special program in complementing the syllabus. There is additional program to complete in one year program. The combination between classroom activity and course program is the breakthrough to extend opportunity to learn not only in the classroom but also outside classroom. This article concludes that additional program was created to enhance students’ skill and language development through practices and non-formal courses.

The curriculum has a very important role in the educational process. In Indonesia, the curriculum had changed in several times, including: Kurikulum 1994, Kurikulum Berbasis Kompetensi (KBK) in 2004, Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan (KTSP), and Kurikulum 2013. The focus of this research, is in the implemetation the curriculum 2013 in Muslim minority areas. The Implementation of the curriculum 2013 at MIN Cempaka Putih Jakarta and West Papua Malawele partly already implemented properly and in accordance with the objectives of the curriculum in 2013. The change of the teacher's role as a motivator and facilitator already visible. Where in learning the Arabic language teachers give students to be more able exploring earning materials and teachers have also begun to embed a variety of character education as a team-based learning. Kurikulum memiliki peranan yang sangat penting dalam proses pendidikan. Kurikulum di Indonesia pernah beberapa kali mengalami perubahan, diantaranya: Kurikulum 1994, Kurikulum Berbasis Kompetensi (KBK) 2004, Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan (KTSP), dan Kurikulum 2013. Fokus penelitian pada kurikulum 2013 yang di Implementasikan di wilayah minoritas muslim. Implementasi kurikulum 2013 di MIN Cempaka Putih Jakarta dan MIN Malawele Papua Barat sebagian sudah terlaksana dengan baik dan sesuai dengan tujuan kurikulum 2013. Pergantian peran guru sebagai motivator dan fasilitator sudah terlihat. Dimana dalam pembelajaran bahasa arab guru memberikan siswa agar lebih bisa mengekspolarasi materi pembelajaran dan guru juga sudah mulai menanamkan berbagai pendidikan karakter seperti pembelajaran berbasis tim

Islamic studies and adat (tradition) tend to enhance discourse to see how religion encounters with local culture. Recently, it shows that there are harmony and interaction between them. In addition, there is acculturation in performing religious practice in daily life. Therefore, this study will explore the interaction between Islam and adat in Bugis society in term culture acculturation. Qualitative approach was conducted during circle of research. Non-participant observation and in-depth interview were employed in collecting data. This research shows that there is synergetic on adat understanding with religious expressions. Adeq (adat) and saraq (Islamic law) both were placed as part of panggaderreng (social law). As a result, this combination gathers to rule society life. Moreover, many adat activities adapt to Islam principles. Islam was translated to local life round in preserving ethnicity existence then transform to belief spirit. Using this local potency convert a strategy to develop spirituality without Arabic characteristics. Islam in Bugis adat context interprets to norm and tradition in expanding identity Bugis society. Finally, adat and religion encounters in Bugis society culture demonstrate that there was a dialogue between them and construct a new tradition in local environment.

Higher education is a part of society, therefore Islamic university also as part of their environment. This article would identify how Islamic higher education accelerates their institution to give students any opportunity to learn religious subject outside classroom. They have enough time to learn in non-formal situation. Data was collected through the brief in-depth interview and non-participant observation. Islamic State College of Sorong is the main source of data. Focus group discussion was the technique to verify data for triangulation. This article discusses two main activity, they are a celebration of Prophet Muhammad and the moment of first time reciting Quran. Finally, this article concludes that the institution in higher learning activity play two roles, the university itself, and the same time they are the religious body of the society.

Muslim minority educational development was left behind to explore. The existing researches on the publication are only about Muslim majority. Therefore, it is a need to discover the existence of Muslim minority in the eastern part of Indonesia. This research was conducted in West Papua Province. In-dept interview and non-participant observation were conducted to collect data. Focus group discussion was circulated to ensure data triangulation. This study shows that environment neighborhood is one of the factors to consider in curriculum formation. Educational establishment is the breakthrough to fulfill the need of religious education. In addition, the standard to achieve is not only the national average but also there is vision to inaugurate social harmony and cultural situation. Finally, this article concludes that educational management board and teacher panel tried to perceive and hear the sound of milieu. This practice shows a progress of improvement and enhancement in improving relevant curriculum.

Based on the ethnic division of the population, Central Sulawesi Province consists of 12 ethnics groups “original,” and many tribal immigrants such as Bugis, Makassar, Java, Bali, and other tribes that have implications for the differentiation of indigenous communities and immigrant communities. The diversity of the tribes is also accompanied by the diversity of their historical background, religion, and culture which might cause friction one another. Based on the existing historical reality, it is showed that the Central Sulawesi region is often hit by ethnic, economic, and religious violences with different intensity. If the diversity among the people of Central Sulawesi is not properly managed, it can lead to disintegration. This article would identify the existence of the plural society in Central Sulawesi and try to formulate the integration efforts of the people of Central Sulawesi.

Corruption is a detrimental and harmful crime that is done individually or collectively. Therefore, corruption must be prevented and overcome. To prevent the corruption, firstly, the factors that lead the corruption should be eradicated; then, the prevention actions are formulated. This article aims to elaborate the guidance from the Qur’an and the local wisdom from Bugis society investigating the causes of corruption and how the Qur’an offers the prevention action of the corruption. To understand the guidance in the Qur’an and to prevent the corruption, this study was conducted through the Arabic linguistic approach. In addition, the researchers integrated the guidance in the Qur’an with the local wisdom values derived from the Bugis culture relevant to the prevention of corruption. This study shows that the Qur’an commences the prevention of corruption in two ways: the first, it is done through total structural reform; and the second, the analysis is started from the ‘inner side’ of humans based on the concept of nafsun stated in the Qur’an. Culturally, preventing the corruption should always refer to the principles of lempu’, amaccang, agettengeng, asitinajang, reso, and siri’ . Those values should be reinforced and embodied (instilled) in life. In short, the values of local wisdom are needed to be reintroduced and taught, especially to the younger generation before they become leaders in the future.

Arabic language education is the compulsory subject of madrasah. Therefore, it shows there are many innovations to create joyful learning in fulfill students’ language competency. This article addresses the dynamic of Arabic teaching and learning in madrasah of Muslim minority environment. With its unique condition, it stimulates efforts to accelerate learning process in bridging the needs of community and class understanding. This article shows that there are three types Arabic language learning. Firstly, the classes were implemented curriculum model which formulated from government policy. Indeed, there are many determinations to enrich learning material to lengthen students’ competency. Secondly, the learning applied learning material that constructed through teacher experiences during pre-class observation. Furthermore, they accelerate the current condition through reading and grammar extension outside classroom. Finally, the combination between formal curriculum and textbook enlarge learning opportunity. These three types of experiences constructed due to institutional condition and objectives formulation. The Arabic teaching and learning is a pillar to support other subjects. Moreover, through the acceleration of subjects, Arabic is a foundation to maintain the acquisition of learning material. This article concludes that minority Muslim environment extend opportunities to learn Arabic. On the other hand, teachers and books constraint is not the main difficult. They solve those challenges through collaboration and innovation inter-institution.

Abstract: This research is to explore the relationship between the mosque and communities in Raja Ampat. Based on the research objectives mentioned, the problems raised in this research is how the community cares in protecting the environment originating from religious expression. Furthermore, this study will describe the condition of the village in running its tradition. The results showed that the villagers have made the Islamic tradition as their references and regulations in keeping the surrounding environment including the sea and the forest. The regulations enforced to community were to guide the community or residents to improve and maintain the production of the environment. Some ideas which were applied in this community were to serve as guidelines for everyone for all the time. Regulations based on the political policies also became a part of the support for this practice with the enactment of local regulations. The regulation was adopted on the basis of the practices and customs of the people that have taken place since long time ago. This research showed that Islam was used as a spirit to support the sustainability of people's habits. The power of religion became the basis in setting the needs and at the same time it could accelerate new ideas to be accepted in the community. This study was to construct the idea that there were some local conditions especially to form an understanding of society in the process of protecting the environment. Finally, this research concludes that religion becomes a rule that arises natural synergy at the needs of the community. In addition, this research becomes the basis for further research on religious expressions and environmental safeguards.الملخص :هذا البحث يبين أهمية المسجد فى المجتمع راجا أمفا (Raja Ampat) . أما مشكلات البحث فهي: كيف اهتمام الجماعة فى تنمية البيئة. فيكون هذا البحث شرحًا لنا عن تطبيق عناصر العادات فى القرية . ومن خطة الدراسة أن أهالى القرية يستخدمون النظام الديني فى تطور العالم. وهناك أيضا الجوامع الإجتماعية التى تجرى فى تصميم ووسائل الأعلام التى تحتوي الإرشادات فى الفكرة الرئيسية. التصنيف والسياسة الطابعية فى فكرة من مجموع منصوص الحكم. وهذه الأحكام من تحريف العوامل الثقافية. يثبت هذا المقال على أن دين الإسلام من القائمة الخاصة لتطوير السياق الإجتماعي. والحركات الدينية تأتى مع القادمين الجدد والفكر مرافق للحركة من إجراء تحليل البيانات على النتائج . فيمكن أن يتم النظام ليس لديها تحقيقًا فى دور خاصة ولكن يدور فى الجماعات الإسلامية العامة. وبناء هذه الحطة أن تقوم فى تدريبات وتعليمات مرحلة استخدام خاصة لتحديد العوامل فى قرية معينة. وأخيرًا، يناقش هذا البحث العلاقة بين الهِمة الدينية فى اكتشاف المنظمة الإجتماعية كما أن يمكن أن تكون أساسًا للنظر فى استقبال الدراسة الأخرى لجميع المنظمات الإسلامية بين الدين والمجتمع.Abstrak: Artikel ini mengekplorasi hubungan antara masjid dengan masyarakat di Raja Ampat. Masalah penelitiannya adalah bagaimana kepedulian masyarakat dalam menjaga lingkungan yang bersumber dari ekspresi keberagamaan. Selanjutnya, penelitian ini akan menjelaskan kondisi kampung dalam menjalankan adat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat kampung menjadikan tradisi Islam dalam menjaga lingkungan sekitar, termasuk laut dan hutan. Aturan-aturan yang diberlakukan masyarakat untuk memandu para penduduk dalam memanen produksi lingkungan. Beberapa ide yang diterapkan dijadikan sebagai pedoman bagi setiap orang sepanjang waktu. Regulasi politik juga menjadi bagian dari dukungan terhadap praktik ini dengan diberlakukannya peraturan daerah. Peraturan tersebut diadopsi dari praktik dan kebiasaan masyarakat yang sudah berlangsung sejak dulu. Artikel ini menunjukkan bahwa Islam merupakan spirit untuk mendukung keberlangsungan kebiasaan masyarakat. Kekuatan agama menjadi dasar dalam mengatur keperluan dan pada saat yang sama mengakselerasi ide-ide baru yang diterima. Kajian ini mengkonstruksi bahwa ada beberapa kondisi setempat secara khusus membentuk pemahaman masyarakat dalam proses menjaga lingkungan. Akhirnya, artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa agama menjadi aturan yang disinergikan dengan kebutuhan masyarakat. Abstrak Papua Barat menjadi wilayah dimana keberagamaan dan keberagaman mengalami perjumpaan dengan etnisitas. Untuk itu, diperlukan sebuah eksplorasi untuk mengidentifikasi tentang keberadaan agama sebagai aspek yang mempersatukan. Dengan demikian, artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan agama yang menjadi pilihan pribadi masyarakat Papua Barat. Pada saat yang sama, justru agama juga menjadi perekat kehidupan masyarakat. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Sorong Raya, Papua Barat. Wawancara mendalam dan pengamatan tidak berpartisipasi digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data. Untuk kepentingan triangulasi data dilakukan diskusi terarah, termasuk penyajian hasil penelitian awal melalui forum diskusi sebanyak dua kali. Artikel ini mendiskusikan perjumpaan agama-agama melahirkan harmoni dan kebersamaan. Keberadaan agama justru menjadi bagian yang tidak menjadi pembeda. Bahkan dalam beberapa hal, kegiatan keagamaan dijadikan sebagai kegiatan bersama walaupun berbeda-beda agama. Akhirnya, artikel ini mendiskusikan beberapa hal berkaitan dengan budaya yang juga tetap memberikan ruang bagi perbedaan-perbedaan dalam memilih keyakinan masing-masing. Abstract West Papua is region where diversity and religiosity encounter with ethnicity. Therefore, it is a need to explore to identify on religion existence as an aspect to unite. In addition, this article will analyses religious variety which private choose of West Papua community. In the same time, religion is a adhesive of community life. This research was conducted in great area of Sorong, West Papua. In-depth interview and non-participant observation were employed to collect data. Triangulation technique was conducted through focus group discussion twice. This article discusses religions encounters in order to strengthen harmony and togetherness. Agama existence is a part of unity which not a difference. Moreover, in some cases, religious activities are activity together even thought they choose different religion. Finally, this article discusses some subjects in line with culture to provide space for difference in choosing each faith.

Mohammed Arkoun is one of the great contemporary Muslim thinkers who advocate reforms of Islamic thought. This study seeks to explore Arkoun’s thoughts on The Book, Arabic language and reading scriptural text. Arkoun argues that when Muslims read the Qur’an as it is historically revealed, they will recreate Islam only as a dogma. Furthermore, he argues that it is a mandatory to rethink Islam from socio-cultural perspectives. The legacy of Islamic thoughts is accepted but it is also needed to be re-actualized because it was formulated in the specific time and place in the past. As for Arabic language, Arkoun thinks that as the language of the Qur’an, Arabic must become open language to any socio-cultural changes. However, since its enclosure as the unified codification, the Qur’an becomes “a close corpus”, which renders reinterpretation difficult. To solve this problem, he promotes the idea of de-construction of reading sacred text. Abstrak: Mohammad Arkoun adalah salah seorang intelektual Muslim yang memberikan kontribusi dalam melakukan pencerahan pemikiran keislaman. Penelitian ini berupaya menggambarkan pandangan Arkoun tentang kitab suci, bahasa Arab dan pembacaan teks. Dia berargumentasi tentang pentingnya mengartikulasi ulang spirit Islam atas pembacaan al-Qur’an sebagai kitab suci dalam sudut pandang zaman sekarang, dan untuk memikirkan kembali Islam dalam perspektif sosio-kultural. Ketika memperkenalkan perspektif ini dia mendiskusikan tradisi (turāth) dalam pengertian sejarah dan institusi pemikiran. Sehubungan dengan bahasa Arab, dia menjelaskan bahwa sebagai pilar al-Qur’an tetap ada kebutuhan untuk mengembangkan bahasa itu untuk merefleksikan konteks sosio-kultural. Setelah al-Qur’an dinyatakan sebagai korpus tertutup resmi, maka konteks sejarah dan tradisi senantiasa berada dalam waktu dan tempat. Dengan pandangannya yang demikian itu, maka Arkoun memperkenalkan metode dekonstruksi untuk memahami teks.

For Muslim, mosque has unique role and its special function in daily life. Five times a day, mosques carry out prayer as compulsory activities. This study explores mosques in West Papua Province where Muslim is as minority. It employs qualitative approach and used in-depth interview and non-participant observation to collect data. The findings show that there are three mosque major components; wudhu area, praying hall, and mimbar. In mosque as a center of activity in the region, the board provided some facilities to be used by either Muslim or others. Mosques embedded with various arts from many traditional roots. Patterns and symmetries were used to enhance art in wall of mosque. On the other hand, the minority condition gives them opportunity to present architecture design to engage with other community. Building styles and type reflect the multicultural characteristics as identity through built environment representing their culture within the local community. Muslim minority tries to extend their mosque not only as praying place but also as a society facility.

Abstract Pesantren is a unique instrument of Indonesian educational system. Environmental adaptations enhance pesantren to modify institutional change and development. Therefore, this research will explore how pesantren widen the curriculum in term of enterprenurship. This study was conducted in pesantren Roudhotul Khuffadz. It is located in Sorong, West Papua province, eastern part of Indonesia. In depth-interview and non participant observation were attended in collecting data. In term of efforts to identify data validity, the research was extended from three months to six months. The study shows that the pesantren Roudhotul Khuffadz was presented many examinations and discussion in developing its curriculum. In addition, they decided to empower curriculum with entrepreneurship aspects. This decision was concluded to extend local needs and students skills in enlarging their opportunities after school age. Finally, this study recommends identifying socio-cultural in pesantren environment in order to understand curriculum improvement.

مستخلص: حكومة بروناى دار السلام تقوم نشيطة بتنمية نموذج مثالى للتعليم وإدارة التربية الإسلامية بالوسائل التكنولوجية. وهذه المحاولة تدعمها مبادرة سلطان بروناى دار السلام بوصفه رئيسا للدولة. وهذه المقالة تكون معلوماتها مستمدة من حقائق الدراسة العلمية: تكامل التربية الإسلامية واستخدامها وسائل الإتصال والإخبار التكنولجية فى عملية التعليم. هذه المحاولة المتكاملة لها أثرها النافع فى إثراء المواد الدراسية للطلاب وفى تسهيل عملية التدريس. وما كادت هذه البرامج تمضى ثمان سنوات حتى حصلت الحكومة على الإرتقاء بمقدرة الطلاب، وباستيعابهم على المواد الدارسية، وبكيفية التقويم التربوي الأصلح, وباصلاح عملية تنظيم التربية الإداري. وهذه الدراسة تحصل على أن وسائل الإخبار والإتصال التكنولوجية تتساير وتقدم التربية الإسلامية تسايرا متكاملا فى ترقية ذكاء الطلاب. Abstrak: Pemerintah Brunai Darussalam giat mengembangkan model pembelajaran dan administrasi pendidikan Islam dengan menjadikan teknologi sebagai fasilitator. Upaya itu didorong oleh prakarsa Sultan Brunai Darussalam, kepala negara sekaligus sultan negara itu. Makalah ini mengemukakan hasil penelitian tentang integrasi pendidikan Islam dan penggunaan teknologi komunikasi dan informasi. Integrasi tersebut memberikan manfaat dalam pengayaan materi dan memudahkan proses pembelajaran. Setelah delapan tahun berjalan, program itu mampu mendorong kepada peningkatan kemampuan siswa, penguasaan materi pelajaran yang lebih terarah, evaluasi yang berkualitas, dan perbaikan pengelolaan administrasi pendidikan. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa teknologi informasi dapat bersinergi dengan pendidikan Islam sehingga pembelajaran menghasilkan kecerdasan bagi peserta didik.

It was well known that Papua as large population of non muslim society. In fact, muslim already establish their community on 1512. Therefore, it is a need to explore how the existence of muslim in West Papua province nowdays. This research was applied qualitative approach which is grounded theory. In finding data, observation and in-depth interview were conducted. In addition, the main instrument was researcher itself, and then other instruments are observation sheet and interview guidance. This research shows three things, they are leadership and tradition, religiousity and diversity, and learning spirit. Those kinds of main findings means that muslim in the region not only preserve their tradition but also try to maintain the harmony to other religions. This attitude did not arise spontaneously, there was a long history of co-exist with the others as a family.

Islamic education in Indonesia is one pilar in national education whis has a long history. In the course of time with development dynamics, pesantren (Islamic boarding school) proves as a nation-wide important element. Therefore, this paper will explore dicsuccion on activity and madrasah movement in Muslim minority in term capacity building through enterprenurship learning. This study was employed qualitative approach with miscellaneous case study. Observation and in-depth interview were conducted on collecting data. This research shows that daily-need based training and learning encourages students to enhance their skills during day after day activities. Pesantren Roudhatul Khuffadz enlarges learning cycle according to students’ environment. Finally, it can be concluded that Islamic education can develop students’ skill acquicition, although it is practiced with community limitation in Muslim minority area.
