Wadi El Farigh area is considered as one of the most important areas in the North of the Western Desert of Egypt. It depends on groundwater of Lower Miocene aquifer as a main source for agricultural and human resouces development. However due to an imbalance of groundwater regime in lower Miocene aquifer, the current study has been conducted. The main goal is the protection and management of groundwater in the Lower Miocene aquifer in the study area quantitatively and qualitatively and to prevent the lowering in the groundwater level which may lead to deterioration in groundwater quality. This goal is attained by developing a mathematical model that represents the hydrological conditions of the area through which four different scenarios for predicting the hydrological situation in the next ten years are conducted. The obtained results indicate that the hydraulic conductivity varies from 0.1 m/day to 25 m/day, the transmissivity coefficient varies between 1000 m2/day to 7000 m2/day and the specific yield varies from 0.011 to 0.32. It has been shown during the current study that the amount of groundwater extrated from the Lower Miocene aquifer in the studied area is about 57.07 Million cubic meters per year for the period from April 2013 to April 2014. Ten years of prediction from April 2014 to April 2024 reveal an expected drop in the groundwater level amounting to 7 meters. For the same period, the groundwater storage in the Lower Miocene aquifer in the study area is perdicted to be 7.72 million cubic meters per year. This means an expected loss in the amount of groundwater storage reaching about 49.35 million cubic meters through the ten years of perdiction if the current dicharge rate is maintained.

A study was conducted at the field of College of Agriculture, Abu-Ghraib to explore the effect of different tillage depths and soil moisture contents on the weed control. Split plots design with complete randomized was used. The involved factors comprise the soil moisture content (main plots) with three levels (14, 17, and 19%), three different depths (sub plots) (10, 15, and 20 cm). Results indicated that the lowest penetration soil resistance was obtained at 10 cm tillage depth and 17% of soil moisture content. On the other hand, the lowest attractive force was achieved at 10 cm depth and 17% of soil moisture. Lowest value of controlled weed population was realized at 15 cm tillage depth and 17% of soil moisture content where as the maximum weed control percentage was obtained at 10 cm tillage depth and 19% of soil moisture content.

Ionic liquid–vacuum outer atomic surfaces can be created that are remarkably different from the bulk composition. In this communication we demonstrate, using low-energy ion scattering (LEIS), that for ionic liquid mixtures the outer atomic surface shows significantly more atoms from anions with weaker cation–anion interactions (and vice versa).

We report here a 44-year-old Moroccan man with resectable gastric adenocarcinoma with overexpression of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) by immunohistochemistry who was treated with trastuzumab in combination with chemotherapy in perioperative setting. He received 3 cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy consisting of trastuzumab, oxaliplatin, and capecitabine. Afterwards, he received total gastrectomy with extended D2 lymphadenectomy without spleno-pancreatectomy. A pathologic complete response was obtained with a combination of trastuzumab and oxaliplatin and capecitabine. He received 3 more cycles of trastuzumab containing regimen postoperatively. We conclude that resectable gastric carcinoma with overexpression of the c-erbB-2 protein should ideally be managed with perioperative combination of trastuzumab with chemotherapy. Further research to evaluate trastuzumab in combination with chemotherapy regimens in the perioperative and adjuvant setting is urgently needed.
