1. An interesting cause of wrist drop: The crow position in yoga and hereditary neuropathy with liability to pressure palsies.

Abstract

Hereditary neuropathy with liability pressure palsies (HNPP) is usually caused by compression and is an episodic, painless, recurrent hereditary neuropathy with focal motor and sensory involvement. It begins in adolescence and young adulthood. The most commonly affected nerves in HNPP are the ulnar, peroneal, radial, and median nerves. In this article, we present a 31-year-old female patient with a previously undescribed case of HNPP, which presented with wrist drop due to the trapping of the radial nerve in the spiral groove after the crow position in yoga. 5. Determining the factors that affect the production time in metal industry utilizing data mining methods

Abstract

In order to survive in today's global competitive environment, companies must aim for low delivery time, low cost, high quality, and high flexibility in their production. Companies engaged in project-based production should prefer the order-based production method to achieve these goals. For order-based production method, it is very important that the product is ready at the delivery date. To reduce delivery dates, factors affecting production time should be determined. Determining the factors affecting the production time enables companies to plan the improvements that can be made on these factors. On an application, it is shown that data mining can be used to identify the factors affecting production times in metal industry. While investigating these factors, various classification algorithms were used. In the result best evaluation metrics were obtained with random tree algorithm. The features that best express the model used are part name, machine name, month of production, average temperature, operator name, machine size and product quantity. With the information produced, improvement recommendations that can be applied to the production processes are given to the company. The raw data set can be accessed as a supplementary file.

7. Wound-Healing Potential of Oil of Hypercium perforatumin Excision Wounds of Male Sprague Dawley Rats

Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the wound-healing activity of oil of Hypercium perforatum (St. John's wort),in excision wounds of male white rats.Approach:The current methods of wound management involve the use of antibiotic creams. The search for more natural materials for the purpose of healing of wounds has led to the discoveries of potential agents prepared from plant extracts. Hyperforinand Hypericinare important phytochemical constituents found in H. perforatum,which have been highlighted for their antimicrobial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties in recent times. Therefore, we have attempted to explore the wound-healing activity of oil obtained from H. perforatum.Results:H. perforatumoil emulsion has been demonstrated to have significant wound-healing potential as compared with mupirocin ointment and petroleum jelly (Vaseline). Animals treated with H. perforatumshowed a 97% (18.9 mm2/day) reduction in wound area as compared with animals treated with mupirocin (68%) (12.8 mm2/day) and animals treated with Vaseline (69%) (13.7 mm2/day). X-ray analysis of skin of animals treated with H. perforatumshowed a significant increase in angiogenesis as compared with other groups in the study.Innovation:This study identified the wound-healing activity of oil of H. perforatum.Conclusion:The findings of this study support the wound-healing potential of H. perforatumalong with other therapeutic uses.

Abstract

Günümüzde topluma yararlı bir hizmet geliştirmek için kurulmuş yasal topluluklar, kişilerin hem mesleki hem de sosyal yaşamlarının birer parçası olmuştur. Sivil toplum kuruluşu adıyla tanımlanan bu topluluklar politik, sosyal, kültürel, hukuki ve çevresel amaçları doğrultusunda herhangi bir kâr amacı gütmeden ve tamamen gönüllü olarak birtakım eylemlerle çalışırlar. Bu çalışmanın amacı Bilgi ve Belge Yönetimi bölümlerinde eğitimlerini sürdüren öğrencileri; meslekleri ile ilgili aktif hale getirecek, Üniversite ve Araştırma Kütüphanecileri Derneği (ÜNAK) adı altında faaliyet gösteren yeni bir topluluğun oluşturulduğundan haberdar etmektir.The purpose of the present article is to inform about an ÜNAK initiative, being called “Young ÜNAK”, which aims at developing research and other professional skills of students of University Information and Documentation Departments by promoting, supervising and conducting planned professional activities.
