Abstract

The Hamiltonian for a complex plasma involving dust spinning motion in a magnetic field is proposed. The formulation is in a classical limit of a quantum mechanical approach based on the Dirac equation, a relativistic wave equation in which the spin of particles is considered. The quantum mechanical spin term – γ s · B [ γ = g q /2m, g = 2 (Land e ´ g − factor) , q is a charge, m is a mass of a particle, and s = spin operator] is replaced by – γ s · B [ γ with g = 1 , s = I(ω + γ B), I is the moment of inertia of a dust particle, and ω is the spinning angular velocity of a dust particle] in a classical limit. The wave–particle interaction involving spin motion is described as an interaction between particles and quasiparticles by the second quantization. Abstract

A formalism for treating modulational interactions of electrostatic fields in collisionless quantum plasmas is developed, based on the kinetic Wigner-Poisson model of quantum plasma. This formalism can be used in a range of problems of nonlinear interaction between electrostatic fields in a quantum plasma, such as development of turbulence, self-organization, as well as transition from the weak turbulent state to strong turbulence. In particular, using this formalism, we obtain the kinetic quantum Zakharov equations, that describe nonlinear coupling of high frequency Langmuir waves to low frequency plasma density variations, for cases of non-degenerate and degenerate plasma electrons.

19. Impact of Rice Bran Oil Emulsified Formulation on Digestion and Glycemic Response to Japonica Rice: An In Vitro Test and a Clinical Trial in Adult Men.

Abstract

To assess the effect of rice bran oil emulsified formulation (EMF) on cooked rice, a single-arm open clinical trial and in vitro testing for digestion and glycemic response were performed. Fifteen Japanese men consumed 200 g of packed rice, cooked with or without EMF. Blood samples were collected 0, 30, 60, and 120 min post-consumption and analyzed for glucose, insulin, and triglyceride levels. Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and sensory evaluation were also performed. A two-step in vitro digestion test, simulating gastric and small intestinal digestion was conducted. EMF-added rice group showed higher insulin response levels at 60 min than the placebo group. Stratification of participants with HbA1c ≥ 5.6 or an insulinogenic index ≤ 0.4 revealed a significant reduction in Cmax glucose levels. A significant correlation was observed between venous and CGM blood glucose levels and no significant sensory differences were observed. The in vitro test revealed significantly lower C∞, equilibrium starch concentrations, with EMF. Clinical trial suggests that EMF may stimulate insulin secretion and reduce blood glucose levels in participants with lower insulin responses. Abstract

Decidualization denotes the morphological and biological differentiating process of human endometrial stromal cells (HESCs). Fatty acid pathways are critical for endometrial decidualization. However, the participation of fatty acids as an energy source and their role in endometrial decidualization have received little attention. To identify fatty acids and clarify their role in decidualization, we comprehensively evaluated free fatty acid profiles using liquid chromatography/Fourier transform mass spectrometry (LC/FT-MS). LC/FT-MS analysis detected 26 kinds of fatty acids in the culture medium of decidualized or un-decidualized HESCs. Only the production of octanoic acid, which is an essential energy source for embryonic development, was increased upon decidualization. The expressions of genes related to octanoic acid metabolism including ACADL, ACADM, and ACADS; genes encoding proteins catalyzing the first step of mitochondrial fatty acid beta-oxidation; and ACSL5 and ACSM5; genes encoding fatty acid synthesis proteins were significantly altered upon decidualization. These results suggest that decidualization promotes lipid metabolism, implying that decidualized HESCs require energy metabolism of the mitochondria in embryo implantation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
