In this paper we analyze the Dark Matter problem and the distribution of matter through two different approaches, which are linked by the possibility that the solution of these astronomical puzzles should be sought in the quantum imprinting of the Universe. The first approach is based on a cosmological model formulated and developed in the last ten years by the first and third authors of this paper; the so-called Archaic Universe. The second approach was formulated by Rosen in 1933 by considering the Friedmann-Einstein equations as a simple one-dimensional dynamical system reducing the cosmological equations in terms of a Schroedinger equation. As an example, the quantum memory in cosmological dynamics could explain the apparently periodic structures of the Universe while Archaic Universe shows how the quantum phase concernts not only an ancient era of the Universe, but quantum facets permeating the entire Universe today., Comment: 18 pages

In this paper we will analyze the Fantappie group and its properties in connection with Cantorian space-time. Our attention will be focused on the possibility of extending special relativity. The cosmological consequences of such extension appear relevant, since thanks to the Fantappie group, the model of the Big Bang and that of stationary state become compatible. In particular, if we abandon the idea of the existence of only one time gauge, since we do not see the whole Universe but only a projection, the two models become compatible. In this paper the time dependence of G is presented. It is a simple consequence of the Virial Theorem and of the self-similarity and fractality of the Universe. The results suggest a Universe based on El Naschie's Cantorian space-time. Moreover, we show the importance of the Golden Mean in respect to the large scale structures. Thanks to this study the mass distribution at large scales and the correlation function are explained and are natural consequences of the evaluated varying G. We demonstrate the agreement between the present hypotheses of segregation with a size of astrophysical structures, by using a comparison between quantum quantities and astrophysical ones. It appears clear that the Universe has a memory of its quantum origin. This appears in the G dependence too. In present article we consider the problems of concentrated point force which is moving with constant velocity and oscillating with cyclic frequency in unbounded homogeneous anisotropic elastic two-dimensional medium. The properties of plane waves and their phase, slowness and ray or group velocity curves for 2D problem in moving coordinate system are described. By using the Fourier integral transform techniques and established the properties of the plane waves, the explicit representation of the elastodynamic Green's tensor is obtained for all types of source motion as a sum of the integrals over the finite interval. The dynamic components of the Green's tensor are extracted. The stationary phase method is applied to derive an asymptotic approximation of the far wave field. The simple formulae for Poynting energy flux vectors for moving and fixed observers are presented too. It is noted that in the far zones the cylindrical waves are separated under kinematics and energy. It is shown that the motion bring some differences in the far field properties. It is developed a very complex system (hardware/software) to detect luminosity variations connected with the discovery of new planets outside the Solar System. Traditional imaging approaches are very demanding in terms of computing time; then, the implementation of an automatic vision and decision software architecture is presented. It allows to perform an on-line discrimination of interesting events by using two levels of triggers. A fundamental challenge was to work with very large CCD camera (even 16k*16k pixels) in line with very large telescopes. The structures formation of the Universe appears as if it were a classically self-similar random process at all astrophysical scales. An agreement is demonstrated for the present hypotheses of segregation with a size of astrophysical structures by using a comparison between quantum quantities and astrophysical ones. We present the observed segregated Universe as the result of a fundamental self-similar law, which generalizes the Compton wavelength relation. It appears that the Universe has a memory of its quantum origin as suggested by R.Penrose with respect to quasi-crystal. A more accurate analysis shows that the present theory can be extended from the astrophysical to the nuclear scale by using generalized (stochastically) self-similar random process. This transition is connected to the relevant presence of the electromagnetic and nuclear interactions inside the matter. In this sense, the presented rule is correct from a subatomic scale to an astrophysical one. We discuss the near full agreement at organic cell scale and human scale too. Consequently the Universe, with its structures at all scales (atomic nucleus, organic cell, human, planet, solar system, galaxy, clusters of galaxy, super clusters of galaxy), could have a fundamental quantum reason. In conclusion, we analyze the spatial dimensions of the objects in the Universe as well as spacetime dimensions. In this paper we present a treatment of hypersingular integrals and integral equations. It is shown the equivalence of different definitions of hypersingular integrals. Then we construct explicit analytical solution to a characteristic equation and prove convergence of the collocation method to this solution. The paper deals with classical problem for cracks dislocated in a certain very specific porous elastic material, described by a Cowin-Nunziato model. We propose a method based upon a reducing of stress concentration problem for cracks to some integral equations. By applying Fourier integral transforms the problem is reduced to some integral equations. For the plane-strain problem we operate with a direct numerical treatment of a hypersingular integral equation. In the axially symmetric case, for the penny-shaped crack, the problem is reduced to a regular Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. In the both cases we study stress-concentration factor, and investigate its behavior versus porosity of the material. More in particular the stress concentration factor in the medium with voids is always higher, under the same conditions, than in the classical elastic medium made of material of the skeleton. The possibility is explored that neutrino condensates, possible candidates for the explanation of very massive objects in galactic centers, could act as background for the Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfeinstein mechanism responsible of neutrino oscillations. Assuming a simple neutrino star model with constant density, the lower limit of the mass squared difference of neutrino oscillations is inferred. The aim of this paper is to study the spatial behaviour of the solutions to the boundary-final value problems associated with the linear theory of elastic materials with voids. More precisely the present study is devoted to porous materials with a memory effect for the intrinsic equilibrated body forces. An appropriate time-weighted volume measure is associated with the backward in time thermoelastic processes. Pixel lensing is a technique used to search for baryonic components of dark matter (MACHOs) and allows to detect microlensing events even when the target galaxies are not resolved into individual stars. Potentially, it has the advantage to provide higher statistics than other methods but, unfortunately, traditional approaches to pixel lensing are very demanding in terms of computing time. We present the new, user friendly, tool MEDEA (Microlensing Experiment Data-Analysis Software for Events with Amplification). The package can be used either in a fully automatic or in a semi-automatic mode and can perform an on-line identification of events by means of a two levels trigger and a quasi-on-line data analysis. In this paper we study the spatial and temporal behaviour of the dynamic processes in porous elastic mixtures. For the spatial behaviour we use the time-weighted surface power function method in order to obtain a more precisely determination of the domain of influence and we establish spatial decay estimates of Saint-Venant type with time-independent decay rate for the inside of the domain of influence. For the asymptotic temporal behaviour we use the Cesaro means associated with the kinetic and strain energies and establish the asymptotic equipartition of the total energy. We present the first results of the analysis of data collected during the 1998-99 observational campaign at the 1.3 meter McGraw-Hill Telescope, towards the Andromeda galaxy (M31), aimed to the detection of gravitational microlensing effects as a probe of the presence of dark matter in our and in M31 halo. The analysis is performed using the pixel lensing technique, which consists in the study of flux variations of unresolved sources and has been proposed and implemented by the AGAPE collaboration. We carry out a shape analysis by demanding that the detected flux variations be achromatic and compatible with a Paczynski light curve. We apply the Durbin-Watson hypothesis test to the residuals. Furthermore, we consider the background of variables sources. Finally five candidate microlensing events emerge from our selection. Comparing with the predictions of a Monte Carlo simulation, assuming a standard spherical model for the M31 and Galactic haloes, and typical values for the MACHO mass, we find that our events are only marginally consistent with the distribution of observable parameters predicted by the simulation., Comment: 13 pages, To appear in A&A

The nature of the massive object at the Galactic Center (Sgr A$^{*}$) is still unclear even if various observational campaigns led many authors to believe that our Galaxy hosts a super-massive black hole with mass $M\simeq 2.6\times 10^6$ M$_{\odot}$. However, the black hole hypothesis, which theoretically implies a luminosity $\simeq 10^{41}$ erg s$^{-1}$, runs into problems if one takes into account that the observed luminosity, from radio to $\gamma$-ray wavelengths, is below $10^{37}$ erg s$^{-1}$. In order to solve this blackness problem, alternative models have been recently proposed. In particular, it has been suggested that the Galactic Center hosts a ball made up by non-baryonic matter (e.g. massive neutrinos and anti-neutrinos) in which the degeneracy pressure of fermions balances their self-gravity. Requiring to be consistent with all the available observations towards the Galactic Center allows us to put severe astrophysical constraints on the neutrino ball parameters. The presence of such an object in the Galactic Center may be excluded if the constituent neutrino mass $m_{\nu}$ is $\ut> 24$ keV, while if $m_{\nu}\ut< 24$ keV observations can not give a definite answer., Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures, in press on Astronomy and Astrophysics

We give the formulation of the gravitational lensing theory in the strong field limit for a Schwarzschild black hole as a counterpart to the weak field approach. It is possible to expand the full black hole lens equation to work a simple analytical theory that describes at a high accuracy degree the physics in the strong field limit. Pixel lensing is a technique for searching baryonic components of dark matter, (MACHOs), in any part of galaxies. This method is very efficient, since it avoids to resolve each source star and so it has the advantage to provide an high statistic. Taking into account the fact that this technique is very time expensive in data analysis phase and the present technology, we propose a new method to perform a data selection on-line by using two levels of trigger and a quasi-on-line data analysis. A sort of gravitational waveguide effect in cosmology could explain, in principle, the huge luminosities coming from quasars using the cosmological large scale structures as selfoc--type or planar waveguides. Furthermore, other anomalous phenomena connected with quasars, as the existence of "brothers" or "twins" objects having different brilliancy but similar spectra and redshifts, placed on the sky with large angular distance, could be explained by this effect. OPERA(Oscillation Project with Emulsion-tRacking Apparatus) is a new detector concept, iron(lead)-emulsion for a long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment.
